Great to have you here.
And maybe you want to head off to
the kitchen, get yourself something hot or cold.
I've got my RO water here, but maybe
you want to get yourself something.
It could be a drink, it could be
(01:04):
something to eat, it could be a snack,
it could be sweet.
It could be a piece of fruit, it
could be something tarp, healthy or not.
It's up to you.
I love my RO water.
I've got to tell you that.
Filtered seven times.
All right.
So let's get into this, shall we?
Let's get right into it because I've got
(01:24):
a lot to share with you.
So today's granular topic is a vision of
a better future, Inspired Hope and Direction Series
for Show 22, episode number seven.
So let's dive right in, all right?
I think that's probably the best place to
get started.
Are you ready to unlock the powerful vision
that fuels hope, drives progress, and transforms your
(01:46):
life?
Well, wonder no more because we're about to
get started here.
I'm John Seymour, serial entrepreneur, a podcast host
and coach, entrepreneur, serial entrepreneur, engineer, video producer,
and many other things.
And I'm here as your guide with Inspirations
for Your Life, where each week I share
(02:07):
these little nuggets of wisdom, insight, and practical
tools to help you rise above limitations and
embrace your full potential.
In today or tonight's powerful episode, I'm going
to dive deep into the core of what
it means to envision a better future.
Whether you're facing uncertainty, stuck at a crossroads,
or ready to break through to a new
(02:28):
chapter in your life, this episode is bound
to help you reconnect with your dreams and
find direction through inspired action.
Let's explore together what it truly means to
see beyond the present and move forward with
purpose.
I think a lot of people try to
do that, but for whatever reason, they get
stuck.
And I think they get stuck because they're
(02:50):
seeing the way other people are, but they're
not seeing how they are.
And I think that's an important thing, guys,
is that you have to be open to
seeing how things can change.
I think that's a very, very important thing.
When you're open to see how things change,
life becomes very, very magical, if I may
(03:10):
say so myself.
Life becomes very, very magical.
All right, so number one, imagining a brighter
tomorrow, right?
Everything great starts with imagination.
We remember with Disney, right, the journey to
imagination.
When we allow...
Actually, it was Kodak that started that, and
then Disney kind of put that into their
(03:31):
parks.
When we allow ourselves to open and dream
fully of a better world, personally, professionally, or
globally, we ignite a brighter tomorrow.
It isn't wishful thinking.
It's laying the foundation for what's possible.
This mental rehearsal builds emotional readiness, guiding us
(03:54):
to take steps in the real world toward
making those visions a reality.
And I think when we think about reality
and we think about where we are, people
get so confused.
And I think they get confused because they
don't understand why something is a certain way.
They just don't understand that.
And I want to tell you that it
(04:16):
starts with you inside.
It starts with your desire, your visions, okay?
I think that's something that's very, very important
to realize, all right?
And that's something that we have to embrace,
all right?
Number two, the power of long-term vision.
(04:39):
You don't do this for one night and
then say, okay, I did it, it didn't
work.
No, no, no.
You keep at the practice.
Like if you're going to practice basketball or
practice a sport, you don't practice it one
day and say, oh, I practiced, I had
enough.
No, no, no, that's not how it works.
So having a long-term vision is like
planting a flag in the future and working
backwards to meet it.
(05:01):
It becomes your compass.
Filtering out distractions and aligning your energy with
what matters when you define your future, clearly
you begin to attract resources, people, and circumstances
that support your mission.
A strong vision doesn't just show you where
to go.
It pulls you toward it, all right?
(05:24):
And I know that's hard for a lot
of people to realize that something can pull
you toward it, almost like a magnet, guys.
I think sometimes that can be hard for
some people because they don't realize how it
happens.
Our mind is very, very intelligent and it
wants to see what we have, okay?
(05:49):
And so when we understand that our mind
can do all these different things, okay, that's
pretty cool.
And it's our thoughts, okay, that cause, you
(06:11):
know, the energy to flow in that direction.
I think that's a very, you know, important
thing is that it has to work from
that particular moment, right?
It has to work from that whole concept
that if we understand where we're going, then
maybe life can be easier if we just
(06:32):
realize what's going on.
But this isn't something that's just going to
happen tomorrow, all right?
Number three, guys, turning inspiration into motivation.
Wow, that's a loaded one, if I do
say so myself.
And I think it can really help you,
(06:52):
all right?
Inspiration gets the spark going, but motivation is
what keeps the fire alive.
The key is converting fleeting inspiration into sustainable
action by trying your best, but understanding how
to tie your why to something meaningful, something
powerful, something that has a very, very big
(07:14):
passionate why that really drives you.
When inspiration strikes, write it down, visualize it,
and set a plan in motion.
Make it a part of your daily thinking
and watch motivation become a habit.
You see, when you make something become a
habit, you do it regardless of whether you
want to or not.
And I think that's something that a lot
of people just don't realize, that you can
(07:36):
do these things if you believe in yourself,
all right?
You can believe if you believe in yourself.
I think that's important to understand, okay?
And if we start to realize how that
(07:56):
works, then I think life can be really,
really special for you, all right?
I think that's a very important thing.
So number four, guys, I don't know if
you're ready for it, it's finding direction in
uncertain times.
We all can find direction when the sun
(08:18):
is out, right?
When our path is clear, when everything is
going well, but when the road gets a
little bumpy, we need to realize that it's
about how do we connect better?
How do we make that happen?
(08:43):
I think if we understand that, then maybe
life can be different.
Life can be an amazing way.
And if that is truly the way it
is, then our life can take on this
(09:04):
new direction, this new purpose.
So in turn, certainty is a part of
life, let's face it, guys.
But vision gives us like the North Star.
During times of doubt or change, having direction
doesn't eliminate the fog that might be out
there.
It simply keeps you from losing your way.
(09:25):
Kind of like when it's raining outside and
it's really downpouring, you slow down the vehicle,
even though it's like teeming with water and
you can barely see, but you just go
really slow and you just kind of really
look ahead.
And the more we build clarity around our
values and long-term goals, the easier it
(09:48):
becomes, folks, to navigate chaos with confidence.
Wow.
So the mindset behind positive change, and it
really is a true, true mindset.
It's not something that's just going to happen
tomorrow, guys.
That's what I want to share with you.
It doesn't just happen tomorrow.
(10:10):
I think the reason it doesn't happen tomorrow
is that people don't understand what something means.
Okay.
And I think that's a very important thing.
All right.
I think that's a very, very important thing
because people don't sometimes realize what all that
(10:33):
means, right?
They don't get it.
And I think that's hard for some people.
Okay.
I think it's hard for some people because
suddenly they don't realize that this is something
(10:54):
that is, how can I say, pretty amazing.
Okay.
Something that's so amazing that I think would
just get anybody interested because of the passion
(11:16):
that's there.
I think that's really the main thing I
want to say there.
That's probably the main thing.
And so change begins in the mind, folks.
Adopting a mindset that welcomes growth, possibility, and
transformation sets the stage for success.
(11:36):
We believe we can change and that the
future holds something better.
We approach life's challenges with curiosity instead of
fear.
That belief of system becomes our greatest ally
because systems allow us to do things better
and eventually autonomously.
(11:57):
Like, you know, you ever drive somewhere and
it's like, you know, you're just going to
grandma's house.
Like, wait a minute.
I don't want to go to grandma's house.
Like, I'm on this road.
I want to go left.
I don't want to go right, right?
So when we build habits that attribute to
more success, take stress off of us and
allow success to be on autopilot.
Hope as a tool for growth.
(12:18):
Hope is not naive.
It's strategic.
It allows us to stay anchored in what
could be even when our current reality feels
challenging.
With hope, setbacks become stepping stones and obstacles
turn into lessons.
Cultivating hope daily gives us the fuel to
persevere and the resilience to rise after we
(12:40):
fall.
Now, guys, it's not about how many times
we fall.
I want to just come right out to
the get go and tell you that right
now.
It's not about how many times we fall.
It's about how many times we get back
up.
That is the most important thing I can
tell you.
All right.
Number seven, setting purposeful goals.
Goals give us vision, structure, but not just
(13:03):
any goals, purposeful goals from our core, the
real powerful ones, the ones that ignite our
wise.
These are rooted in the values and the
core of our being by our sense and
our mission.
When your goals are meaningful enough, they don't
just motivate you.
They transform you to become something, to achieve
(13:24):
that.
You grow into the person capable of achieving
them.
You're all capable of growing.
It's just that you lose your motivation on
the way because maybe you're not seeing something
the way it's supposed to be.
And you're seeing somebody else having challenges.
You know, challenges are a way of life.
They are our teachers.
(13:45):
Okay.
They are our teachers.
Number eight, aligning vision with action.
A vision without action is just a dream,
guys.
Alignment means making daily decisions that reflect your
larger purpose.
It's about integrity, doing what your future self
will thank you for.
Each step you take, no matter how small,
(14:06):
should reinforce your direction and build momentum towards
your vision.
That's important.
Fueling momentum for the future.
Momentum is the secret weapon of progress.
Once you start moving, staying in motion becomes
easier.
Fuel momentum by celebrating small wins, staying consistent,
and surrounding yourself with people who have positive
(14:28):
energy that are going to support your mission.
Remember, guys, one step every day is more
powerful than one giant leap once in a
while.
See, it's consistency.
The consistency not only helps you, but also
conditions you with your motivation to keep going,
(14:48):
right?
I think that's important.
Number 10, learning from the past to shape
what's ahead.
The past is a treasure trove chest of
lessons, not a place to live, guys.
Reflecting on what worked and what didn't gives
you insight into how to move forward and
(15:08):
smarter.
Let's not be people that are insane, like
Einstein said.
Doing the same thing over and over again,
expecting different results, that's insanity.
None of us are insane.
But yet we act insane because we think
that if we keep doing something long enough
that it's going to change.
But it's not.
History, whether it's personal or it's collective, becomes
(15:30):
a guidebook when we use it to improve,
not relive.
And I think when you can understand that
the past is there, guys, the past is
obviously there.
And that past can make a huge difference
in your life, right?
That's powerful.
(15:50):
The past is a guidebook.
The past is where we learn the lessons.
Hey, guys, if we don't learn the lessons,
you know what happens?
We will keep repeating the same thing over
and over again until we learn it.
So let's learn those lessons.
Let's learn them now.
And I think if you learn them, then
(16:13):
truly you will recognize that you're growing.
Remember I said to you guys before that
growth is not always comfortable.
It's uncomfortable.
So we have to practice getting comfortable being
uncomfortable.
Sounds a challenge, doesn't it?
But you guys all can do this.
(16:34):
Okay?
You all can do this.
It's the guidebook, our past.
We use it.
We'll improve our life.
We don't want to relive the past, guys.
We want to improve our past.
How many have ever taken a test before?
And maybe you got something wrong.
So maybe you got a quiz and now
you study.
So you make sure that you don't get
(16:55):
that question wrong again.
Maybe you write it out two or three
times.
Maybe you study it every day.
You recite it to yourself.
You do a lot of things like that,
right?
Number 11, sharing vision to inspire others.
This, guys, is one of my biggest favorites.
Why?
(17:16):
When we share, we collaborate, we learn.
And I think it's important to understand that
(17:39):
you can be anything you want.
But when you share a vision, it makes
you accountable to people you trust.
So your vision isn't just for you.
It's a ripple that can inspire others to
help you, but also get them off of
their duff.
When we share our dreams, our passions, we
invite collaboration.
(18:00):
Accountability and encouragement.
Now, I know sometimes you share things with
people and it's like you get kicked below
the belt.
You don't share things with people you don't
have good rapport with.
You are not friends with.
Because a lot of people in this world
are going to be jealous and envious of
you.
I'm going to be honest with you there.
And you have to realize that these people
that are blocking you are going to block
(18:22):
anyone.
It's not because of you.
It's because they're jealous that you're getting ahead
of them.
That's the truth.
Never, never, never, guys, underestimate the power of
your words, your story, or your passion.
It could be the spark someone else needs
to kick their button gear.
(18:45):
Now, I know that sounds so unfathomable, but
when we have a challenge, that's when we
wake up.
That's when we say, you know what?
I need to do this better.
(19:09):
That's important.
I know what you're saying, guys.
I know you're saying that this doesn't make
sense because your friends don't support it, because
your friends aren't doing it.
(19:31):
Well, we're not trying to compare ourselves, but
if you are doing that, realize if they're
not where you want to be, those aren't
people maybe you want to hang around.
Right?
They might stunt your growth.
Tracking progress, number 12, toward your future.
(19:53):
What gets measured gets managed.
So I've said this to people before.
If we can't measure something, how are we
going to manage it?
How are we going to change it?
Whether it's digital advertising online, whether it's advertising
in person, whether it's prospecting, whatever it is,
how do we change it if we don't
know if it's working or not?
(20:16):
So anything we can measure, we can change
and we can improve.
Therefore, we have to figure out how to
measure it.
Whether through journaling apps or milestones, tracking your
progress keeps you focused and motivated, guys.
It also helps you pivot when needed and
(20:36):
lets you see how far you've come.
See, every bit, guys, of progress is proof
that your future is unfolding.
Now, it might not be where you want
to be tomorrow, okay?
But it is somewhere that is better than
(20:58):
where you were yesterday.
That's important, guys.
I think that's important to understand.
(21:19):
If we can understand this, then your life
can evolve.
Let me say that again.
If we can understand this, your life can
evolve.
(21:39):
The reason your life doesn't evolve right now
is because of something that's blocking it.
Try to give you a great analogy.
Maybe you've taken a case off of something
before, right?
And maybe you had to, I don't know,
change some things around, move some things, and
then put the cover back on.
But the cover doesn't fit.
(22:02):
What's wrong?
Are there too many items in there?
Are they not packaged the right way?
Or it could be something mechanical, where you're
putting a case on a computer, and suddenly
the case doesn't go on.
Even though you put everything in, it looks
like everything's flat.
But you put the screw in the wrong
hole.
And now when you put the cover on,
it's butting up against the screw.
(22:23):
And guess what?
It doesn't close.
So these little nuances, I think, can make
a huge difference in our lives.
Every single day, folks.
Every single day.
That's powerful.
(22:46):
So powerful.
Powerful enough that you can change your direction
and your course like that.
You see, if you believe that you are
a certain way, your body's like, okay, that's
(23:06):
the way I am.
I'm going to be that way.
I did it to myself.
I went from being a good student to
being an A-plus student.
I believed I was an A-plus student.
I believe that I know this information.
I study.
But I get excited about studying.
I get excited about learning.
(23:28):
Not because I have to, but because I
want to.
See, when somebody puts you into an educational
institution, and it's against your choice, or you're
not wanting that, you're going to kick and
scream and to you know what, and you're
just not going to believe in anything.
All right?
That's a very hard thing for most people
(23:49):
to realize.
You've got to do it your own way.
Does that make sense?
I hope so.
You've got to do it for your own
reasons.
(24:17):
I think if you can do that, then
maybe you can change where your life is
going.
If you can do that.
But if you can't do that, then maybe
(24:38):
the wake-up call hasn't hit you enough
yet.
That's important, guys.
Really important.
Number 13, staying committed to your vision.
There's going to be reasons why you want
to leave your vision.
It's too hard.
I don't understand.
(24:59):
People aren't supporting me.
We could go on and on and on
and on.
It's cold outside.
I'm uncomfortable.
Like I could name a million of them.
Commitment means holding the vision even when things
get hard, especially then.
It's easy to stay focused when it's convenient.
But true success is built on consistency.
(25:22):
So make yourself daily why you stated what
you stand to gain.
You have to daily know why you're doing
this.
And if you don't know why, guess what
happens?
Your desire to do something just changes.
(25:43):
It just changes.
I think sometimes people don't realize how they're
(26:04):
kicking themselves in the foot.
They don't mean to do it, guys.
And my last point is keeping hope alive
when challenges rise.
See, challenges are inevitable.
But they don't have to extinguish your hope.
They're meant to be a teacher to get
you to rethink.
In fact, adversity can deepen your vision even
(26:25):
if you let it.
Stay connected to your purpose in life.
Surround yourself with positivity.
And remember that even the darkest storms will
pass.
See, hope is your light.
Guard it fiercely.
When people lose their hope, they lose their
success.
(26:46):
Because success doesn't happen immediately.
The hope is what needs to keep our
feeling alive that we are successful.
You know, live the feeling of the wish
fulfilled, Deborah Goddard.
I think when we do stuff like that
and our brain's like, hey, wait a minute.
I just got more money.
I just got money from this.
(27:07):
I just got money from that.
And so it's these little things.
Now, they might not be $10 million.
But it's something.
And that tells you that you're on the
right path.
There are going to be people every day
in your life that are going to knock
you.
I'm sorry to tell you that right now.
But let's just get over it.
Because there are going to be people that
(27:28):
do that.
And you could choose to respond and be
nasty, which is not a good thing.
Or you could choose to basically suck it
up and say, you know what?
This is how these people are.
I'm not going to let this affect who
I am.
(27:50):
That's really important, guys.
You can't let other people affect who you
are, who you're becoming.
Because people will try to stop you every
single day of their life.
Well, ladies and gentlemen, I'm John Seymour Hurley,
