Morley, serial entrepreneur, podcast coach, and passionate believer in human greatness. Each week, I bring you transformational insights and empowering messages to fuel your journey to personal and professional success. In today’s episode, we’re diving into something incredibly powerful: how to live authentically and let your light shine. When you lead from your truth, embrace who you are, and live with courage, you naturally inspire others. These aren’t just nice ideas—they're practical, life-changing principles. So, let’s unpack what it means to shine from within and lead others by example. 🌟

1️⃣ Be authentic 🪞

Authenticity is the foundation of meaningful living. Being authentic means showing up as your true self—not who people expect you to be, but who you really are. In a world that often rewards conformity, staying authentic is a bold act of self-respect. When you're honest about your values, your passions, and your boundaries, you not only feel more fulfilled, but you also create trust with those around you. Authenticity invites genuine connection, and that's where real impact begins.

2️⃣ Let your light shine 💡

Each of us has a light within—talents, experiences, and wisdom that no one else can replicate. Letting your light shine means stepping out of the shadows and allowing your unique brilliance to be seen. It's not about seeking applause, but about contributing something meaningful. When you shine unapologetically, you not only illuminate your own path—you light the way for others. Don't wait for permission. Your brilliance is needed.

(02:27):
tonight's episode, I'm diving into something incredibly powerful,
how to live authentically guys, and let your
light shine through.
When you lead from your truth, embrace who
you are and live with courage.
Well, you naturally inspire others.
These aren't just nice ideas.
They're practical life-changing principles.

(02:47):
So that's what it's about.
And let's unpack what it means to shine
from within and lead others by truthful example.
Are you ready guys?
Well, we start off with one of my
favorites, number one, and that is be authentic.
Authenticity is the foundation of meaningful living.
Uh, being authentic means showing up as your

(03:09):
true self, not who people expect you to
be, but who you really are inside.
In a world that often rewards, um, conformity,
uh, staying authentic is a bold act of
self-respect.
When you're honest about your values, your passions
and your boundaries, you not only feel more
fulfilled, but you also create trust with those

(03:31):
around you.
Authenticity invites genuine connection and that's where real
impact begins.
Number two, guys, you ready?
Let your light shine.
There are a lot of beautiful songs about
let your light shine, but you truly can
let your light shine.
If you do, you're going to find that
your life is going to be so much
more.

(03:52):
Uh, powerful.
Okay.
So much more powerful.
And I know, um, that it's something that
you can't understand, but it's really something that
you should definitely embrace.
All right, guys.
All right.
So, um, let's dive into this a little

(04:13):
further.
And with your light shining, let's talk about
it.
Each of us has our own light within
us, talents, experiences, and wisdom that no one
else can replicate or even come close to
letting your light shine means stepping out of
the shadows of darkness and allowing your unique
brilliance to be seen.

(04:33):
It's not about seeking applause, although that's nice,
but about contributing something meaningful.
When you shine unapologetically, you not only illuminate
your own path.
You light the way for others.
Don't wait for permission.
Your brilliance is needed right now.
So what are you waiting for guys?
Enjoy that brilliance act and yes, be part

(04:56):
of an amazing life because you know, you
want to be, and you know, sometimes you
let your light go out because of something
someone else says, but it's important for you
to embrace the truth.
All right, guys.
I think that is truly very, very important.
All right.
So number three is embrace your uniqueness.
There's no one else in this world.

(05:17):
Like you, your quirks, your voice, your journey,
um, they all matter.
Embracing your uniqueness isn't about ego.
It's about honoring your divine design.
So often we compare ourselves to others and
try to fit it in, but true greatness
lies in standing out.
The more you lean into what makes you

(05:38):
different, the more you offer something fresh and
impactful to the world.
Own your story.
It's your power.
Take control of it.
Number four, we need to learn how to
lead by example.
I think this is something that stumps a
lot of people because, you know, they see
other people and they're like, well, you know,
he's not doing that.
She's not doing that.

(05:59):
So why should I do that?
Well, if he jumped off the Brooklyn bridge,
are you going to jump off the Brooklyn
bridge too?
I mean, I know I'm being facetious there,
but you know, seriously, right?
Like folks, let's, let's just be truthful there.
All right.
So people follow authenticity more than authority leading
by example, I think is a very, um,
important thing to understand.
And I think that you, um, understand that

(06:22):
when you truly do this, um, you live
the values you speak out, even when it's
difficult, whether in your business, community, or your
personal life, your behavior teaches more than your
words ever could.
Want to inspire excellence, be excellent.
Want to encourage kindness, practice kindness.

(06:45):
Your life is your loudest message.
Make it the one that uplifts.
I think sometimes people change their message when
they get discouraged or when the world isn't
delivering them lemonade, it's giving them lemons.
They figure, well, why should I bother, right?
What's the whole purpose of it?
And I think that's a very, um, important
thing, guys, you have to understand that it's

(07:08):
truly about that whole piece.
Okay.
And if you understand that it's about that
whole piece, then maybe you can actually change,
right?
Not overnight.
Inspire through action.
Remember action speaks louder than words.
Okay.

(07:28):
Words are very powerful, but actions are unforgettable.
Inspiration isn't just about grand gestures.
It's about consistency in your everyday behavior.
When you act with integrity, compassion, and purpose,
you naturally become a beacon for others.
Your willingness to act courageously or take a
stand for what matters can spark transformation in

(07:49):
those watching you.
Even silently, let your actions be a living
invitation for others to rise.
Number six, be courageous.
You'll remember, um, the lion who wanted to
get courage in the wizard of Oz, right?
The yellow brick road.
Courage isn't the absence of fear guys.

(08:11):
It's choosing to move forward despite it.
Whether it's speaking your truth, starting a new
chapter or standing alone in your convictions, courage
is what pushes you to grow.
The more you practice courage, the stronger it
becomes and what others see your bravery and
empowers them to confront their own fears.

(08:33):
Your courage is contagious.
Never underestimate folks, the ripple effect it creates,
because I think when other people can see
how your courage is transforming you, it will
transform them.
Number seven, stay true to yourself.
No matter what, because I know there's going

(08:54):
to be challenges in life.
Life will pull you left.
It'll pull you right.
It'll pull you up.
It'll pull you down.
It'll pull you in a hundred million different
directions, but staying true to your core, to
yourself is what keeps you grounded every day.
It means honoring your values, listening to your
inner compass and resisting the pressure to compromise
what matters.
Staying true doesn't mean staying the same.

(09:16):
It means growing in alignment with your purpose.
When you choose, notice I said that word
choose.
When you choose to live this way, you
build a life of integrity and meaning that
others deeply admire.
Number eight, encourage others by being real.
Your vulnerability is a gift.

(09:36):
When you're real about your struggles, your wins
and everything in between, you give others permission
to be real too.
Encouragement doesn't always come from pep talks.
It often comes from showing up authentically and
it reminds others that they're not alone.

(09:57):
Your story can be someone else's survival guide.
And I think that's something many people don't
realize that their life can be something that
sparks another person's life.
I think that's something that is really, um,
you know, very, very, uh, important.
And I know guys that this is something
that I believe you will like truly transform

(10:20):
from.
And I know that sounds like something very,
um, how can I say very crazy?
Um, but you have to trust me when
I tell you that this can be done
every single day of your life.
Now you might say to me, John, this
is very hard.
Uh, there's no way this can be like
this, but I'm here to tell you that

(10:41):
this can make such a big, big difference
in your life right now, but maybe you're
thinking about something because of something that happened
in your life.
I mean, maybe, maybe you're looking for a
magic bullet.
Maybe you're feeling that if you have that
magic bullet, that you would have the answer

(11:01):
to everything.
And I want to tell you something.
You won't have the answer to everything.
Even though you think you will, you just
will not have the answer to everything.
You're going to find out that the more
you become true to your core and who
you are as a person.
All right.
That's what I want to tell you as
a person, it will change you.
It will reshape you mold you and actually

(11:24):
affect what it is that you stand for
in your life.
I think that's a real, a real truth
there.
All right.
Number nine, I want you to learn how
to shine without comparison.
So many people in life compare themselves to
other people.
What we should be doing is comparing ourselves

(11:46):
to ourself.
Now that sounds like something that's so off
the wall, but it works.
Okay.
It works.
Comparison is the thief of joy.
When you compare your light to someone else's,
you forget that we're all designed to shine
differently at different radiances and to operate at

(12:11):
different frequencies.
Your own path, your timing and your purpose
are uniquely yours.
When you let go of comparison, you gain
the freedom and control to grow at your
own pace and celebrate others without diminishing your
own worth.
Remember guys, the sun and the moon both

(12:31):
shine and they do so beautifully on their
own terms, but completely differently.
Number 10, create positive ripples.
This is what I think that will probably
amaze a lot of people.
Small acts of authenticity, create waves of impact.
You don't need a massive platform to influence

(12:51):
lives.
Every kind word, brave choice, and honest interaction
sends out ripples.
Whether you realize it or not, people are
watching, learning, and being shaped by your example.
Live with intention because your energy and actions
might just be the spark that ignites someone

(13:11):
else's transformation.
And I think that's what we don't realize
in life is that, you know, that struggle
that we might be going through, that challenge
that we're having.
It's there for a reason.
It's there to help us learn something, right?
I think that's a very, very, um, important
thing.
If we understand that, then maybe we're able

(13:35):
to, to figure out like what's going to
happen.
Right.
And this might sound like something that's so
like bizarre, so off the charts, but I'm
here to let you know, guys, it's something
that will change you.
Right.
Those small acts of authenticity, the waves of

(13:57):
impact.
Like I said, you don't need anything massive.
You need truth.
You need integrity.
And a lot of people in our world,
they say they're operating from integrity, but those
that have to brag about being on the
integrity spectrum, well, you know what, they probably
aren't.
And the reason I say this is when

(14:17):
somebody is trying to, I don't use the
word brainwash, but that's really what it is.
Somebody tries to say, well, you know, I'm
definitely this where I'm definitely that way.
I don't try to do that.
I say, look, this is who I am.
This is what I do.
You'll see for yourself.
And if it resonates with you, great.
If it doesn't, well, that's fine too.
This is a part of the show guys
that I really love.
And this is where I, um, I will

(14:38):
give you, um, some personal lessons and stories
for each point.
And it's my hope that it's going to
ground you and it's going to get you
to realize that real truth comes from real

(15:00):
experience.
And so I've been thinking about what lessons
I want to share for these, you know,
different points tonight.
And I think the most important thing to
me was to just hone in on some
personal times when, you know, I needed this
encouragement, the encouragement that I'm giving you tonight.

(15:23):
No one gave me that encouragement, but I
was able to get through these situations because
of my positive attitude, because I believed in
myself and because of that one thing.
Okay.
It changed me.
Okay.

(15:43):
It changed me.
That's important.
Really, really important.
So let me, um, just share these with
you because I think you're going to find
them really, really important.
Number one, be authentic, right?

(16:03):
A few years ago, I was working with
a client who expected me to play the
role of a yes man to keep the
project moving forward, but deep down, I knew
their strategy was flawed.
It wasn't easy, but I spoke up.
I expressed my concerns respectfully and stood firm
in my beliefs.
That decision didn't just save the project.
It built trust and depended on our working

(16:26):
relationship.
Being authentic means trusting your voice, even when
it's not the most convenient path.
People might not always agree with you, but
they will respect you for being real.
I think that's something that we have to
realize.
So there is, um, it was a landlord
of mine, uh, commercially that I was working
with, and I said to the property manager

(16:48):
company who basically, um, he had hired because
he was, you know, getting older and he
didn't have anybody to really manage the building
himself.
So we hired this company, which was, uh,
this lady and her son.
And, um, they, um, basically call me for
different things once in a while.
And when I was having a conversation about,

(17:11):
you know, business and what was going on,
I said, I definitely want to move to
another place because we all know how he
wants to jack the rent up.
And he actually increases it more than what
industry standard is going to support.
But I said to him, I said, in
all due respect, I said, uh, you know,
that such and such as a, he's a
yes man, you know, and he just says

(17:33):
things, but then he really doesn't do what
he says and he just plays that game.
He really doesn't care what happens to me.
He doesn't have a care of what happens
or how my business grows.
He's just all about himself.
He likes to make you think that he
cares about you, but really he doesn't.
And that's a, that's a really, really big

(17:53):
problem.
Big problem.
Number two, let your light shine.
It was a time early in my career
when I would dim my light to avoid
making others uncomfortable.
I didn't want to come across as too
much, but as I grew into myself, I
realized that hiding my gifts helped no one.
When I started speaking publicly and sharing my

(18:15):
story, people came around and up to me
afterwards saying, Hey, that's exactly what I needed
to hear.
That's when I learned your light is meant
to be shared.
When you hold back, you deny others the
opportunity to be inspired.
Number three, embrace your own uniqueness.
Now this is going to be different for

(18:35):
everyone at all different levels.
Growing up, I was fascinated by tech and
business.
While most of my peers were into sports
or gaming, I often found out a place
there.
Not that I didn't like sports, but I
preferred technology more like I had to quote
unquote, normalize myself to fit into the group.
But what I learned that all I needed

(18:56):
to do was lean into what made me
different, my curiosity, my entrepreneurial illness spirit.
I found my voice and my purpose today.
Those same traits that once made me feel
odd or the core of what I do
embrace, um, what sets you apart.
That's often where your magic lives.
And, you know, somebody told me I was

(19:17):
going to be going back to school to
getting my master's, my PhD.
I've been like, huh?
Now I'm like, I'm making that a reality.
And I'm so happy and proud of that.
And you could do things too.
That'll make you happy and proud regardless of
what other people say.
And I'll tell you this.
I get one or two people every once
in a while saying, Oh, John, you're crazy
for going back to school.
Uh, you should have your head examined, but
I learned that these people are just jealous

(19:39):
and these people just don't want to support
when I grow.
Number four, lead by example.
One of my team members once told me,
Hey, John, you don't just tell us what
to do.
You show us how to live it.
I paused and that stuck with me for
a long time, whether it's arriving early, showing
respect or staying committed through challenges.

(20:00):
I've learned that how I show up matters
more than what I say.
You don't need a title to lead.
Your actions are always speaking.
Be that person you want others to become.
When it came time to teach people about
being on time, I said, when you're on
time, you're late.
I learned this from a limo driver many
years ago, my parents and I were taking

(20:21):
a trip.
I think it was to Bermuda at the
time.
And, um, he was supposed to come, I
think around six 30.
No joke.
He was there at five 30.
We're all panicking because we were like, are
we late?
No, no, no, no.
Take your time.
He just likes to get there early.
And that's when I learned that when you're
on time, you are late.
So always be early.

(20:42):
Number five, inspire through action during a nonprofit
event.
One of the many that I've organized, I
faced a last minute crisis.
One of the, um, people that was supposed
to be there as a celebrity to help
sign autographs canceled.
Instead of panicking, I stepped up to fill

(21:04):
in.
I wasn't fully prepared of what I need
to do, but I shared my heart.
Afterward, several attendances tease told me that moment
changed their perspective.
He was actually supposed to be our keynote.
And I stepped in to do a keynote.
Of course I've done the before, but I
never did one this grand before.
That day taught me something vital.

(21:25):
Action speaks louder than planning.
People aren't moved by perfection.
They're moved by courage and motion.
Let me say that again.
People aren't moved by perfection.
They are moved by courage, emotion.
Think about that yourself.
When you remember a story, do you remember
the story that went really well?
What do you remember?
The story that had, let's say some challenges,

(21:46):
right?
Well, number seven, be courageous.
I've talked about the lion.
You remember the lion?
Yes.
The lion in the wizard of Oz that
wanted courage.
Do you remember that?
So the cowardly lion joins Dorothy as they

(22:06):
asked the wizard for courage.
Shame that he's not brave enough to play
his cultural role.
The king of the beasts, despite the outward
evidence that he is unreasonably fearful, the cowardly
lion displays great bravery along the way.
And I think sometimes we don't realize that.
So when we get tested, even though we're
not ready for the test, it actually makes

(22:27):
us realize, Hey, you know what?
I'm pretty good.
So starting my first business wasn't easy guys.
Uh, started when I was in college, before
I even graduated, there were days I questioned
everything and nights I lost sleep over failures,
but I pushed forward not because I wasn't
afraid because I believed in the vision more
than the fear.
Courage.
I've learned.

(22:49):
Is it about eliminating fear?
It's about refusing to let fear stop you.
Every time I chose courage, doors opened, lessons
unfolded, and confidence began to grow and take
a whole new form.
Number seven, stay true to yourself.

(23:09):
No matter what.
There was a season in my life where
I felt pulled in a multiple directions, trying
to please clients, family, and even friends at
the cost of my own peace.
Eventually hit a wall and I realized I
was living a life built on everyone else's
expectations.
That moment of burnout became a turning point
for me.
I started saying, no, we're often realigning my

(23:31):
priorities and principles and reconnected with my purpose.
Staying true to myself, isn't selfish or to
yourself.
It's necessary folks to serve others from a
place of wholeness.
And I think people get fearful and they're
like, well, you know, I can't give up.
Right.
That's me.

(23:51):
But they're like, well, I have to give
up.
I don't, I don't know what else to
do.
Number eight, encourage others by being real.
Show love.
Now this love doesn't have to be romantic
love, love, just that you're authentic, love that
you care about the other person.
On one of my podcast episodes, I shared

(24:12):
a story about a personal failure I hadn't
talked about publicly before.
I was nervous about it a while back,
but after the episode aired, the message came
pouring back from many people, thanking me for
my honesty and said it helped them feel
less alone.
That experience showed me the power of vulnerability.

(24:32):
When you let people see your scars, not
just your successes, it gives them hope that
healing and growth are possible.
And I think in this world, one of
the most important things we have is hope,
hope, be hope in so many things.

(24:53):
Hope is like a natural wellness drug that
gets us to see something that isn't here
at the moment.
Number nine, shine without comparison.
I used to compare my journey to other
entrepreneurs, wondering why they were growing faster or
getting more attention.
But I realized that comparison kept me from

(25:13):
appreciating my own progress.
One day I paused, I looked at how
far I'd come and it clicked.
Everyone has their own timeline.
The moment I stopped comparing, I started thriving.
You can't shine fully when you're busy measuring
your light against someone else.
Number 10, create positive ripples, folks.

(25:38):
You know, we know what ripples are in
the water, don't we?
And we know that when we throw a
rock, like if you've ever done rock skipping,
that's an amazing, incredible thing that can happen,
okay?
I mean, really, really, really, really amazing thing.
And I think sometimes we don't get what

(25:59):
that means, okay?
We don't get why that happens a certain
way.
Why?
And that why is not easy, folks.
That why is about what can I do
different or what have you done for me
lately differently?
It seems like something easy, but it's also

(26:20):
a challenge, folks.
It is also a challenge.
A challenge that you might not realize is
for you.
I think sometimes we don't realize that we
have to have a challenge before we can
learn and grow.
Creating a positive ripple.

(26:41):
A simple thank you note I wrote to
a colleague once ended up on their desk
for months.
They told me it got them through some
rough days.
They reminded me how small actions can have
big impacts, whether it's a kind word, helping
hand, or a gesture of encouragement, you never
know how far your energy travels, live like

(27:04):
every interaction matters because you know what, it
really does, folks.
It really, really does.
Living authentically and letting your light shine isn't
just about self-improvement.
It's about becoming someone who uplifts the world.
These lessons aren't just words to me.
They're real, true life lived experiences.
I invite you to reflect on your journey,
take some bold steps toward authenticity, and trust

(27:27):
the light you carry has the power to
guide you and others.
And I think sometimes people give up because
it gets uncomfortable.
It gets difficult.
But that's when the learning happens.
That's when the magic transforms.
