All right.
So you know what our master topic is
for the week.
I'm sure you guys know what our master
topic is.
So our master topic for this week is
a really, really good one, I have to
tell you.
And of course, we have another great topic,
(01:28):
granular topic for today.
And the topic of the week, and I
think this is one that a lot of
people, you know, when we talk about it
and we think about, you know, how it's
going to make a difference in our life,
I think this is probably one of the
most important things I can tell you is
that when we can take time to understand
this, that's when life changes.
(01:51):
And it's the cost of comfort versus the
power of awareness.
By the way, we're on Series 4, Show
40.
And so the granular topic, guys, for tonight,
or today, is a really good one as
well.
Fairness is lasting power, Series 4, Show 40,
episode number six, guys, number six.
(02:14):
All right, let's get this show kicked off.
Are you ready?
Yeah.
Let's get it going.
So I just want to say welcome, everyone,
to, again, Inspirations for Your Life.
I'm John C.
Morley, serial entrepreneur.
I'm an engineer, marketing specialist.
I'm also a video producer, college graduate master's
(02:37):
and PhD student.
I'm a podcast host and also a podcast
coach.
And my passion, ladies and gentlemen, is for
lifelong growth and helping others unlock their greatest
potential and how it's fueling every project I've
ever touched.
On today's episode, I'm going to explore why
(03:01):
fairness is lasting power and how embracing fairness
can build trust, reputation, legacy, and
influence that outlasts fleeting moments.
(03:23):
So we've got a lot here to share
with you.
I've actually got 26 powerful insights that you're
not going to want to miss, and they're
designed to inspire and get you to take
action and to understand and give you the
competitive edge that you need through fair, transparent
leadership.
(03:44):
All right, guys, here's number one.
And I want to harp back on a
point that I talked about a few days
ago, and that is good leaders solve problems.
That's a given.
Great leaders make sure they never happen.
Number one, guys, fairness builds trust that outlasts
(04:05):
any type of hype.
When trends shift and the buzz fades, what
remains is the trust you've nurtured by being
fair from daily interactions to life changing decisions.
You know, guys, true trust rooted in fairness
(04:29):
carries far more strength than momentary popularity.
Number two, when you're fair, your reputation never
expires.
Reputations built on fairness endure long after others
(04:52):
have faded away.
People remember how you treated them, how you
made them feel with honesty and integrity.
Let fairness ring and define your legacy, not
just your headline.
It's number three, guys, power fades.
(05:15):
But fair treatment, well, it leaves an echo
in your life and everyone else.
An authority can disappear overnight, but fair actions
are remembered long after that.
The echo of fairness continues to inspire comfort
(05:35):
and guide those around you.
Number four, guys, the fairest leaders are remembered
longest.
History honors leaders who choose fairness over shortcuts.
(05:59):
Their stories endure and their examples set the
standard for generations to come.
Number five, guys, fairness plants roots.
Shortcuts blow away and shortcuts might seem efficient
for the moment, but only fairness can withstand
(06:20):
the test of true time.
Building your journey on fairness gives you unbreakable
roots in your organization, community, and life.
Number six, true influence is fueled by treating
(06:40):
others right.
Real influence isn't about control or manipulation.
It's about the respect you earn by being
fair.
When others see your fairness, they're inspired to
follow your example.
(07:02):
Number seven, unfair wins vanish, fair wins stick.
Winning unfairly never lasts and it doesn't feel
good.
True victories achieved with integrity remain celebrated and
set the bar for future achievement.
(07:26):
Number eight, guys, lasting teams are built on
fairness, not fear.
Cohesive, loyal teams don't come from intimidation.
They grow from leaders who treat everyone justly,
(07:48):
inviting collaboration and mutual support.
Number nine, transparent actions have a lasting effect.
Transparency and fairness go hand in hand.
Amplifying your impact and ensuring your essence is
(08:10):
remembered every day.
Number 10, guys, fairness shines long after the
spotlight fades away.
Spotlights are temporary, but fairness continues to glow,
(08:31):
illuminating your path and guiding others even in
your absence.
I think that's an important thing to realize,
guys, a real important thing.
Number 11, number 11 is power from fairness
doesn't need defending.
When your authority is rooted in fairness, there's
(08:55):
no need to justify, explain, or defend it.
It stands unquestioned, even tested by adversity.
Being fair attracts allies.
Number 12, for the long haul, people gravitate
to fairness.
(09:18):
Allies gain through fairness stay with you, building
trust and collaboration that lasts.
Number 13, guys, fair decisions anchor you while
trends keep morphing and changing along the way.
As the trends evolve, fair decisions serve as
(09:43):
anchors, keeping you grounded amidst the chaos of
constant change.
Number 14, guys, those who play fair keep
playing.
The fair players are trusted with more opportunities.
They're always invited to the next round because
(10:07):
everyone knows they play with integrity.
Number 15, lasting organizations have fair foundations.
Successful organizations start with fairness at their core.
(10:28):
It becomes, well, their foundation and how they
shape every process and procedure and relationship that
they have.
Number 16, guys, fairness is undefeated in the
long game.
Short-term wins may seem sweet, but the
(10:53):
game's true victories are those who lead with
fairness.
Standing strong, even as competitors falter, is a
key success point for life.
Number 17, guys, legacies grow from, well, moments
(11:17):
of fairness.
Every fair choice you make adds to your
legacy.
These are the stories that others retell, inspiring
future generations.
And I think that's something we have to
understand is that when we inspire ourselves is
(11:40):
one thing, but when we can go inspire
other people, and then when our message is
so radiant that it moves them, it causes
them to share a story about their experience,
or motivates them enough to compel another person
to make the shift.
(12:01):
And shifts are not hard, guys.
They're just uncomfortable.
And I've said we've got to practice getting
comfortable being uncomfortable.
I've been on the air for quite a
while and doing podcasts now.
This is going to be the fourth year
after December 31st.
Next, this January, we'll start the fifth year
(12:25):
of my shows.
That's pretty amazing.
Number 18, guys, never, never, never, never, never,
never, never, never, never underestimate the power of
being just.
Your friend might say to you, well, you
know, no one's really watching.
It doesn't really matter.
(12:45):
Of course we can do this.
Of course we can do that.
Do you know how many customers I've gotten
that said, hey, John, you know, what's the
price if I give you cash, what's the
price?
It's the same price.
You're going to get a receipt, whether you
give me cash or you give me a
check or not.
And I think a lot of people are
(13:06):
saddened by that.
They're expecting me to say, gee, you know,
I'll knock off the tax, right?
No, no, no.
It's about integrity.
I've known many people, not personally, but acquaintances
that have been in the tech industry.
And they have seemed to go very far,
(13:28):
but they've done things that are underhanded, like
taking software, buying it, and then copying it
and selling it multiple times.
That's unfair.
That's not integrity.
And when you live with integrity, when you
(13:50):
exercise with integrity, you know, everything you do,
you start to realize that those fruits of
your life, you only can enjoy when they
come from integral moments.
Justice isn't always flashy, but its impact is
profound.
(14:12):
Fairness has the power to shift cultures, heal
wounds, and build bridges.
Number 19, guys.
Shortcuts can't compete with fair practices.
Shortcuts might seem tempting, but the results fade
(14:36):
fast.
Even though they might be attractive, they're just
trouble in disguise.
Fairness produces outcomes that endure and continue to
inspire.
Number 20, guys.
Justice creates momentum that endures through any storm.
(15:02):
Fair practices spark momentum, propelling you and your
team and your business forward with a moral
engine that goes the distance.
Recently, one of my clients, something happened, actually.
(15:23):
It was one of their family members, actually,
a pet had passed away, and I was
there when that happened.
And all I said to myself is, you
know, what can I do to help them
remember that pet?
Not remember me, but to remember that pet.
And so, you know, this dog that they
(15:46):
had was a, I never met the dog,
but it was a golden retriever.
And everybody was very devastated about it.
I'm like, well, what can I do to
have them, you know, enjoy the memory of
this dog's name forever and ever?
(16:07):
So I went home and I got an
idea.
I wanted to do something custom, like a
custom gift, but I didn't know, like, what
would really tie them together with Duffy and
what would, like, keep bringing positive vibes back
to them.
So I got the idea to get a
custom made wind chime, one with their dog's
(16:28):
type on it and the dog's name.
And then I wrote a nice little, let's
say, a card.
And in the card, I said something to
the fact that, you know, it's just a
momentum, you know, my condolences.
And I hope that you'll hang this, and
(16:51):
that every time you hear the beautiful chimes,
you'll know that Duffy's actually saying hello.
And that was interesting because I got a
thank you.
But not only did I get a thank
you, guys, I got more than a thank
(17:13):
you.
I got something that I did not expect
to get.
And it was this.
They told me they just got home.
They love the gift.
They look forward to hearing the lovely sounds
and know that their dog is always with
them in their hearts.
(17:33):
And they paid me a compliment.
John, you're a remarkable, kind, thoughtful, and heartfelt
person.
May God bless you.
Warm regards and thanks.
And I wrote back, thank you.
I'm glad you liked it.
I think in life, an important thing to
do is to help people to remember the
(17:57):
things that matter to them.
Loss of a loved one, whether it's a
dog or a person, or maybe helping them
preserve those moments where they felt at the
top of their game.
So they can keep reliving those moments.
So they can live and have even greater
(18:18):
moments.
But those can be the fuel that will
push them forward to do more things.
And I know that when I think about
my past successes, and I know it's these
successes in the back of my head that
are quietly pushing me just a little bit
more forward.
Just a little bit more forward.
(18:39):
Number 21, guys, this is another good one.
Fairness turns small gestures into lasting memories.
Small gestures into lasting memories.
I guess that little gesture I did by,
you know, giving that windchime, it'll make a
(19:02):
memory for a lifetime.
Even the smallest acts of fairness are remembered,
transforming ordinary moments into extraordinary memories.
Once in a while, we get a client
that might have a financial challenge.
(19:24):
And our goal is to work with the
client to make sure that, you know, we
can make it work for everybody and to
be fair.
And when you emphasize the fairness and you
ask for X, right, you don't expect Y
(19:46):
or Z.
You ask for X because that's fair at
the moment.
They sometimes will give you Y and a
lot of times they'll give you Z because
you've been so humane, so genuine.
Number 22, guys, all power is built upon
fairness and it withstands any storm that you're
(20:08):
going to get.
So we said before that when we build
up resilience, we have the ability to actually
not only grow but to bounce back.
Think of it like this.
Think of it like a battery for your
phone or for your laptop that's rechargeable.
(20:30):
When that battery is new and you charge
it, it charges, you know, in a certain
amount of time and you get a full
charge.
But after so many cycles of the battery,
you don't get that full charge.
What happens when we understand the storm and
we focus on the positive part of the
(20:51):
storm, we learn and we keep recharging and
regenerating our batteries like they were in the
beginning or even more.
Challenges will come, but foundations built upon fairness
weather every single storm, emerging stronger every time.
(21:18):
And we think about every time and we
think about every storm, sometimes we get fearful
on the pathway like, oh my gosh, am
I ready for this?
You were chosen.
You were put into this spot for a
reason, a purpose.
(21:39):
Number 23, guys, fair treatment keeps your name
in conversations, right?
Keeps your name in conversations.
And that's important.
People talk about those who treat them fairly
(22:02):
and your name becomes synonymous with a sense
of trust and respect.
And it's like they want to tell the
world about your story, about how you are.
You didn't do it for that.
(22:23):
But when you get other people to hear
about your story, it's like, wow, right?
It's amazing.
It's very amazing.
But it all starts, guys, with a belief.
Starts with a belief.
(22:45):
And that belief, guys, is something most people
don't even know that they have the ability
to do.
When we think about Macy's and they have
the whole thing about the magic of believing
every year for Christmas with Santa, that whole
(23:07):
marketing thing that they do with the music,
with Santa and everything, that they get Santa
from the North Pole, that is not only
to create this warmth, but when this warmth
is created, it becomes positively infectious.
(23:30):
And other people want to share their story
about what they did, what they learned, the
experience.
And other people are going to want to
tell and share their story.
Number 24, guys.
The fairest competitors create lasting waves.
(23:56):
Fair competitors aren't just remembered.
They're admired.
And their impact sets new standards.
Number 25, guys.
Fairness isn't easy, but it is forever.
(24:16):
Choosing fairness at every crossroads in your life
may be challenging.
I'm not going to lie to you.
But these choices form an unbreakable bond with
those you lead and serve.
That's important too, guys.
(24:37):
Number 26, people remember how you made them
feel.
People remember how you made them feel.
Especially when it's fair.
The deepest memories come from moments of fairness.
(24:58):
They're cherished.
They're retold.
They're re-experienced.
And they become the gold standard for every
relationship.
Think about it right now, guys.
If somebody shared a story with you about
an amazingly positive experience, you're probably going to
(25:22):
become very interested in the story.
And you're going to be like, wow, that's
pretty cool.
I want to do something like that.
So the story not only shares what they
did, but it inspires you to take some
action.
So I want to let you know, guys,
that fairness is not something you just wake
(25:45):
up and say, I'm going to be fair
today.
Fairness is something that you're born with.
It's a core value inside you.
So I want to invite every one of
you guys to turn your workplace, your team,
your personal life into a hub of, well,
(26:08):
fairness, creativity, and engagement.
And if this all seems too overwhelming, then
just take it a little step at a
time.
You don't need to eat the whole cake.
You can just have a few bites.
Or just cut that cake into three or
(26:28):
four slices.
I think it's these moments that we get
where we don't always have the words to
share that not only shape our character and
who we're becoming, but it also affects and
impacts the shape of other people and their
characters to whom we're around.
(26:49):
So I invite you, ladies and gentlemen, to
please connect with me after the show.
You can do that by going to BelieveMeAchieve
.com.
Why?
For more expert advice and more inspiring stories
about authentic leadership and lasting impact.
(27:14):
I think the fact that you're here, the
fact that you acknowledge that you want to
be better.
I always want to be better.
That's something people admire about you.
They like it when you strive to be
better.
So guys, definitely after the show, go listen
(27:35):
to a podcast again, another show that I
have, like the tech show, read an article,
check out my shorts.
And I think when we start to embrace
this whole concept, we start to realize one
thing.
Our life gets easier.
I want you guys to elevate your life,
(27:58):
to gain some great wisdom from this podcast,
and to know what leadership success truly is.
It's not born overnight.
Leaders are not born.
They're made.
Inspirational stories and going with the flow of
(28:20):
life.
