Welcome to the Inspirations for Your Life Podcast, hosted by John C. Morley—Serial Entrepreneur, Engineer, Marketing Specialist, Video Producer, Podcast Host, Podcast Coach, and a passionate lifelong learner. This show is dedicated to unlocking potential and helping you build a life and workplace where labels and limits are left behind, and genuine greatness comes alive.

1️⃣ Labels shrink people—see greatness instead. Labels can confine us to a small box and restrict the perception of our true abilities. When we consciously decide to look past superficial categories, we allow ourselves—and others—to flourish, reinvent, and achieve levels of greatness once deemed unreachable. Seeing people for their talents, dreams, and vision reveals paths for impact and legacy.

2️⃣ Challenge stereotypes, unlock hidden talents. Stereotypes are shortcuts that mask the remarkable depth in every person. They foster bias and keep brilliance hidden. By actively resisting stereotypes, we unlock doors to untapped abilities, unknown strengths, and the unique genius every individual brings to the table. Break the mold and watch talents blossom.

3️⃣ Everyone has a breakthrough story beneath the surface. Behind every person is a journey filled with challenges, victories, and growth that rarely shows on the outside. True connection and empowerment begin with a willingness to delve past the obvious and champion the hidden stories—these breakthroughs renew motivation, strengthen communities, and inspire change.

4️⃣ Let curiosity lead, not assumptions. Assumptions may close your mind to possibility, but curiosity sparks creativity and understanding. When we approach every person with questions instead of preconceived notions, we discover new perspectives, learn from unexpected wisdom, and foster relationships built on exploration instead of limits.

5️⃣ Build bridges, not barriers. Barriers create isolation, while bridges foster unity. Choosing to build connections across differences sets the stage for innovation, collaboration, and genuine progress. Embrace openness, facilitate dialogue, and unite talents and visions for shared success.

6️⃣ Ask questions, not judgments. Judgments silence voices, but questions start conversations. The habit of inquiry signals respect for others’ experiences and an eagerness to grow. Every question asked is an invitation to expand understanding and build trust, laying a foundation for progress and possibility.

7️⃣ A moment of understanding can heal years of hurt. Empathy is a potent force that can bridge wounds formed through years of misunderstanding or exclusion. When you offer sincere understanding, you give others a chance to heal, restore their confidence, and step forward with hope.

8️⃣ Every person is more than what meets the eye. Nobody’s story can be summed up by appearance, credentials, or roles. Within everyone lies vast reserves of creativity, resilience, and potential, waiting to be acknowledged and supported. Look deeper and help others realize their full selves.

9️⃣ When you pause, you witness someone’s true spark. In our hurried world, taking a moment to observe and listen can reveal someone’s passions, dreams, or strengths that are often hidden by distractions and routines. Granting this attention can be the catalyst for someone stepping into their power.

🔟 Media shapes our bias—choose to see with open eyes. Our perspectives are influenced by headlines, pictures, and viral stories. To ensure fairness and opportunity, consciously challenge media-driven judgments and strive to see the complete, genuine person. Open your eyes and open your mind.

1️⃣1️⃣ Growth happens when you break old patterns. Progress requires change—and change means releasing limiting beliefs, habits, and old ways of thinking. By shedding patterns that no longer serve, we allow new possibilities, relationships, and achievements to take root.

You know, it is great to be with
you another time here on Inspirations for Your

It's always great to be with you here,
sharing some great information with all of you.

what the master topic for this week is,

(00:45):
and I think that's really important to understand
that master topic before we can dive into
what today's granular topic is, all right?
So let me go ahead and share that
with you in case you didn't catch the
show before.
And so we were talking about something very,
very interesting, and this is seeing people basically

(01:10):
in a certain light, right?
We were talking about the whole concept of
things that make change.
That's really our things that make change in
our mind.
And today's granular topic is a really good
one, See People Beyond Labels, Series 4, Show
37, Episode 5.

(01:32):
Yes, yes, yes.
All right, guys, if you are new here,
I want to take this opportunity to welcome
you to Inspirations for Your Life show.
If you're coming back, of course, I want
to take the opportunity to welcome you back.
And if you're thirsty, well, why not grab
yourself some RO water like I have here?
Maybe another drink, a different beverage, or perhaps

(01:53):
a snack.
It could be healthy, it could be fruit,
it could be chocolate, it could be nuts.
Whatever it is, sweet, tart, doesn't matter.
And if you have not checked out BelieveMeAchieved
.com, what are you waiting for?
Check it out after the show, all right,
guys?
So without any further ado, let's get things
rolling.
So welcome, everyone, to the Inspirations for Your
Life popular podcast show hosted by myself, John

(02:16):
C.
Morley, serial entrepreneur.
I am an engineer, marketing specialist, video producer,
podcast host, podcast coach, and a passionate lifelong
learner.
This show is dedicated to unlocking potential and
helping you build a life and workplace where
labels and limits are left behind and genuine

(02:39):
greatness comes alive.
That's what tonight's about.
Number one, guys, labels shrink people.
See greatness instead.
Labels can confine us to a small box
and restrict the perception of our true abilities.
And what we perceive is actually what becomes
reality.

(03:00):
When we consciously decide to look past superficial
categories, we allow ourselves and others to flourish,
reinvent, and achieve levels of greatness once deemed
unreachable.
So seeing people for their talents, dreams, and
vision reveals paths for impact and legacy, all

(03:22):
right?
Number two, guys, challenge stereotypes.
I know it might be hard, but challenge
them, okay?
Challenge your stereotypes.
Unlock the hidden talents that are beneath.
Stereotypes are shortcuts that mask the remarkable depth
in every person.

(03:42):
They foster a bias, unfortunately, and keep brilliance
hidden.
By actively resisting stereotypes, we unlock doors to
untapped abilities and potential, unknown strengths, and the
unique genius every individual brings to the table.
So break the mold, guys, and watch talents

(04:04):
blossom.
You know, number three is everyone has a
breakthrough story.
Beneath the surface behind every person is a
journey filled with challenges, victories, and growth that
rarely shows on the outside, guys, whose true
connection and empowerment begin with a willingness to

(04:28):
delve past the obvious and, of course, champion
those hidden stories.
These breakthroughs renew motivation.
They strengthen communities, and they inspire change.
Number four, guys, let curiosity lead, not assumptions.
Assumptions may close your mind to possibility, but

(04:50):
curiosity sparks creativity and understanding.
When we approach every person with questions instead
of preconceived notions, we discover new perspectives.
We learn from unexpected wisdom, and we foster
relationships built upon exploration instead of, well, limits

(05:13):
that either we've imposed or someone else has
imposed on another person.
Number five, guys, build bridges, not barriers.
I know so many people that they're always
breaking bridges, right?
Instead of, you know, building them, they're breaking.
They're like, oh, I don't need this anymore.
Why burn a bridge, right?
Why do that?

(05:35):
Barriers, guys, create isolation, while bridges foster unity,
right?
I always tell people, you know, you want
to build bridges, okay, instead of walls that
block people off.
And choosing to build connections across differences sets
the stage for innovation, collaboration, and a genuine

(05:58):
set of progress.
Embrace openness, guys.
Facilitate dialogue and unite talents and visions for
shared success.
Are you ready for number six?
I know you are.
Number six is ask questions, not judgments.
So judgments silence voices, but questions start conversations.

(06:22):
The habit of inquiry signals respect for others,
experiences, and an eagerness to grow every question.
Asked is an invitation to expand understanding and
building trust, laying a foundation for progress, and
of course, possibility.
You know, our life comes from the whole

(06:45):
concept of possibility and probability, because what is
possible could possibly happen, right?
But if we don't think like that, we're
always like, oh, that's never going to happen,
right?
Number seven, guys, a moment of understanding can
heal years of hurt.
Empathy is a potent force that can bridge

(07:07):
wounds, form through years of misunderstanding or exclusion.
When you offer sincere understanding, you give others
a chance to heal, restore their confidence, and
step forward with true hope.

(07:27):
Number eight, guys, every person is more than
what meets the eye.
Nobody's story can be summed up by appearance,
credentials, or roles.
Within everyone lies vast reserves of creativity, resilience,

(07:47):
and potential waiting to be acknowledged and supported.
Look deeper and help others realize their full
selves.
That's a gift that you should be sharing.
Number nine, guys, when you pause, you witness
someone's true spark.

(08:09):
Yeah.
You witness and you engage that true spark
of their life, a spark that maybe you
didn't even notice before, but now you see
is there and has so much potential.
Okay?
In our hurried, often world that we're in,
taking a moment to observe and listen can

(08:32):
reveal someone's passions, their dreams, or the strengths
that are often hidden by distractions and routines.
Granting this attention can be the catalyst for
someone stepping into their power.
Number 10, guys, media shapes our bias.

(08:52):
So choose to see with open eyes.
Okay?
Our perspectives are influenced by headlines, pictures, and
viral stories.
To ensure fairness and opportunity, consciously challenge media
-driven judgments and strive to see the complete

(09:14):
genuine person.
Open your eyes and open up your mind.
I think a lot of times our eyes
are open, but they're not wide.
It's like they're tunnel visioned, right?
And you're only seeing this.
If you ever look at something, right, and

(09:35):
you look at your peripheral vision, right, and
you haven't developed it well, you're going to
miss a lot of things in your peripheral
vision.
So you have to open up your eyes
and see the potential.
Number 11, guys, growth happens when you break
old patterns.
Growth happens when you break old patterns.

(09:59):
I love that one, guys.
I really do.
Progress requires change.
And this means releasing limiting beliefs, habits, and
old ways of thinking.
By shedding patterns that no longer serve us,

(10:20):
we allow new possibilities, that could be relationships,
and achievements to take root center stage for
us.
I think a lot of people are scared
about center stage because they don't know that
they have that much potential in their life.
But hey, guys, you really do have that
much potential.

(10:42):
Number 12, guys, celebrate those who thrive beyond
boundaries.
Make it a practice to acknowledge and amplify
the voices of people who break through limitations.

(11:06):
Everyone always likes to go with the norm,
right?
But everyone also has their own dreams, has
their own mindset.
So be a leader.
Their courage lights a path for others, guys.
And it demonstrates how boldness and authenticity can

(11:30):
reshape what's possible.
What's possible.
What's possible in our lives sometimes gets confused
because we hear from someone else that, you
know, that's not possible.
And once we hear that, like, well, there's
no way that can happen.
But I got news for you guys.
There is lots of ways that can happen.

(11:51):
And this happens because you shut yourself out,
right?
You shut yourself out from potential.
That's pretty cool, right?
You shut yourself out.

(12:13):
And I know that you're probably saying, John,
this doesn't make a lot of sense, but
I'm here to tell you that it does
make a lot of sense.
Okay?
A lot of times people cause you to
end what it is that you want to

(12:34):
do.
Okay?
That's what it comes down to.
To end what it is that you want
to do.
And I think this could be a huge
thing for, you know, a lot of people.
Okay?
It could be a huge thing.

(12:55):
So embrace this, guys.
Embrace it.
Number 13.
Connection is found in stories, not stereotypes.
There are a lot of people in the
world that will try to burst your bubble
and say, you know, this can't happen this

(13:17):
way because this person is that way, or
this person is, you know, this way.
And that's not really fair.
Just because they're different doesn't mean, well, they
shouldn't be accepted.
We've talked about no discrimination for race, religion,
sexual orientation, creed, color, political party, etc.
But yet people still do it.
I was talking to somebody the other day
who was trying to get a job.

(13:39):
And they were out of the workforce for
a few years for no fault of their
own.
They were taking care of a sick family
member.
And then another family member's sister was getting
sick and had passed.
And they were out of the banking world
for two years.
And when the person tried to get back
into the banking world, they give them these
interviews because that's equal opportunity employment.

(14:00):
But really they're discriminating because they want to
hire somebody much younger.
Because, well, they think that somebody older might
want to get more money and that they're
not going to be as reliable.
I got news for you.
A lot of the younger people aren't reliable.
A lot of the younger people flip a
job within six months.

(14:22):
So we need to break away from stereotypes.
We really do.
Real connection emerges from knowing the authentic experiences,
the hopes, and the dreams behind each and
every person.
Never from simplified assumptions or, let's say, stereotypes.

(14:48):
Or labels or tags.
You remember when you went to school, maybe
you got tagged something.
Maybe it was a good tag.
Maybe it was a bad tag.
Maybe you were called a brainiac.
Maybe you were called this.
You remember when there were different reading groups?
They had the low reading group.
They had the middle reading group.
Then they had the higher reading group.
The thing is, when they started associating people

(15:10):
with these different groups, people read on the
level that they associated.
When you took somebody and put them into
a higher group, guess what?
They read at that level.
I think this was just a real bad
thing that a lot of schools did.
Because when I was in grammar school, I
got put into one of those groups.
And then later on, I read a lot

(15:32):
better because the group was defining me.
But really, the group was nothing.
It's just that was a label I was
given.
Ladies and gentlemen, share the stories and listen
deeply.
And you'll build some lasting bonds, bonds that
you didn't even think were possible when you

(15:55):
start to get rid of the labels, when
you start to get rid of the discrimination,
when you start to get rid of the
stereotypes.
And I know there's stereotyping all over the
place.
And what it comes down to is prejudice.
I remember there was a commercial on TV
many years ago.
And it was this one boy and his

(16:17):
grandfather.
And he says, Chris, what's prejudice, Grandpa?
And Grandpa's like, well, that's when people act
a certain way and they shouldn't.
Oh, you mean kind of the way you
act when we're around people that are of

(16:38):
a different color than us?
And you kind of say that we're kind
of first?
So the grandfather kind of sits back in
the rowboat.
He's kind of like, you know, you're a
smart grandson.
You're exactly right.
And, you know, I am prejudiced.

(16:59):
I'm not proud of it.
But I don't want you to be prejudiced.
And that whole conversation was from the Church
of Latter-day Saints.
They were saying, you know, you don't want
to be prejudiced, right?
If we go to Merriam-Webster, because you
know I haven't gone there in a while,

(17:19):
Merriam-Webster, and we look up prejudice, we're
going to come up with something very interesting.
Prejudice according to Merriam-Webster, this is right
out of the book, it's a noun, an
irrational attitude of hostility directed against an individual,
a group, a race, or their supposed characteristics.
So that could be your prejudice against race,

(17:40):
religion, color, sexual orientation, creed, political party.
An irrational attitude of hostility.
An adverse opinion or leaning form without just
grounds or before sufficient knowledge is achieved.
Preconceived judgment or opinion.

(18:01):
An incident of such opinion or judgment.
So when he was talking to the boy,
and he's like, well, Grandpa, why are you
prejudiced?
He goes, well, you know, that goes back
a long time, and you know, Grandpa can
never change.

(18:23):
He said, well, Grandpa, if you're preaching to
me that I shouldn't be prejudiced, then how
come you can be prejudiced?
And he said to me, he says, you
know, you're a smart grandson.
Maybe I need some help too.
And I think that's the first thing we

(18:44):
have to realize with labels.
There's some things we may need some help.
We may fall into these caveats or these
patterns because of other people or because of
our surroundings, but that does not make it
right.
It doesn't make it right.

(19:04):
People are supposed to set example, but if
you discriminate someone before any of these classes
or reasons, you're being a hypocrite.
And you heard what it said in the
definition, right?
An irrational attitude of hostility directed against an
individual, a group, a race, or a supposed
characteristics.

(19:26):
Prejudice to cause to have prejudice, to injure
or damage by some judgment or action.
That's prejudice.
And this commercial was so powerful on the
water.
And then the grandfather smiled, and it looked

(19:50):
like he was going to change his ways.
And with the help of his grandson, I
think he probably was.
But there are a lot of people that
don't want to change.
That's unfortunate.
But you heard what I said.
According to Merriam-Webster, it's an irrational behavior.

(20:11):
Don't be prejudiced.
Number 14, guys, motivation blooms when inclusion leads.
I love this.
Diversity alone isn't enough.
Inclusion is the secret to thriving teams, workplaces,
and communities.
When every person is welcome to participate fully,

(20:34):
motivation, loyalty, and creativity, they flourish almost immediately.
Number 15, guys, accountability starts when we see
people as a whole.
See, true responsibility arises when we see the
full context of a person's life and experiences.

(21:00):
This perspective leads to more just decisions, deeper
trust, and meaningful progress for all.
Number 16, guys, give others the space to
shine, not to fit in.

(21:20):
Resist the urge to make people conform.
Instead, carve out room for authentic expression.
Don't try to stuff them into a box
or make them something they're not.
Let them be who they are.
When people are empowered to express their uniqueness
extraordinarily with contributions, you're going to see a

(21:44):
lot follow, a lot of positivity.
You'll see a lot of learning.
You may even learn some things.
Number 17, guys, healing starts by dropping the
labels.
I'm not talking about the labels on your
Brother P-Touch or your OneTouch labeler or
your Dymo labeler.

(22:05):
I'm not talking about those kind of labels.
I'm not talking about the labels you put
on your notebooks.
I'm talking about the labels that we assign
to people, the bad labels.
I gave an example, was the reading groups.
But maybe you had friends that labeled you

(22:27):
with something.
Maybe they weren't friends.
Maybe they were just kind of like, I
don't know, people in your class.
They weren't really friends if they were labeling
you.
A lot of times, people label somebody because
they feel inferior to that person, so they
rather label you.

(22:49):
So this way, it makes them seem better.
It seems like an oxymoron, doesn't it?
So healing starts by dropping the labels.
Remove the labels.
You don't need the labels.
You don't need the prejudice.
Labels wound people, but letting go paves the

(23:10):
way for reconciliation, restoration, and hope.
Approach others as fellow humans.
On a journey, healing is always possible, folks.
Number 18, see the champion, not the challenge.

(23:31):
Focus first on strengths and inspire those around
you to basically rise above difficulties.
Believing in someone's resilience and ingenuity will be

(23:53):
energizing them to act.
And achieve and transform.
But if you never believe, none of this
could ever be possible.
Number 19, empathy uncovers miracles in everyday people.
Everyday empathy helps us see past surface-level
interactions.

(24:13):
And discover stories of courage, perseverance, and kindness.
These small miracles make our world richer and
more inspiring one day at a time.
One conversation at a time.
Number 20, guys, imagine the possibilities.
See the person, not the label.

(24:35):
When labels no longer define potential, the future
is limitless.
Invest in people's visions.
Empower their passions.
And watch worlds and dreams unfold magically before
your eyes.

(24:56):
The reason people label is because they're trying
to put something in a box.
They're trying to make somebody feel inferior by
labeling them.
Because most times people label, they're not good
labels.
They're labels that are like, I don't want

(25:16):
this kind of label.
So that kind of forces you to change.
It's kind of like a mind game, if
you ask me.
I think it's really bad, it's sad, and
terrible that it still continues.
Now it happens not just in grammar school
and high school, not so much in college.
It happens in the workday world a lot.

(25:39):
It happens in churches, synagogues, mosques.
It does.
Ladies and gentlemen, I am John C.
Morley, serial entrepreneur.
It is always such a privilege, a pleasure,

(26:23):
Ladies and gentlemen, I know there's been labels
out there.
Now I'm not here to point a figure
and say that I've never used a label.
But being conscious of this, being conscious of
knowing that you're precious is one way to
end it.
Let's start building a space for acknowledgement, gratitude,

(26:43):
and celebration.
And with all these guys, we can fuel
growth.
We can start something called belongingness.
And we can build high performance.
I know that when you talk to somebody,
they're like, oh, John, you know, this doesn't
apply to us.
Are you human?

(27:04):
Are you a person?
And guess what?
It applies to you.
It absolutely applies to you guys.
Yeah, it really, really applies to you.
Every single day, it applies to you.
And don't think just because of one thing

(27:27):
that it's not applying.
It always applies, guys.
It applies 24-7.
I hope you guys will take this show
seriously, especially this episode.
Maybe re-watch it a few times and
ask yourself, how am I being?
How am I acting?

(27:48):
And hopefully, that will make the difference to
becoming a better version of yourself and helping
other people realize that maybe the way to
becoming a better person is to stop discrimination,
to stop the prejudice, to stop the labels.
I hope you guys have a great rest
of your evening or day, and I'll catch

(28:08):
you real soon.
Be well, everyone.
