رضا دبیری‌نژاد با اینکه به نمایش، سینما و عکاسی علاقه‌مند بود اما در دانشگاه رشتهٔ موزه‌داری قبول شد و سعی کرد علاقه‌اش را با کارش ترکیب کند. سال‌ها رییس موزه ملک بود و به تازگی سرپرست موزهٔ هنرهای معاصرِ تهران شده.
