Die Geschichte der Unschuld vom Lande Manon, die das Luxusleben liebt und dabei sich unsterblich in den adligen Chevalier Des Grieux verliebt, kann natürlich nicht gut enden. Auch ihr Cousin Lescaut, diverse Liebhaber und Konkurrentinnen kommen zum Zug und schaffen ein farbenprächtiges Bild des Paris der Belle Epoque mit seinen Boulevards und vergnügungssüchtigen Salons.
