Die Countertenöre vor allem im Barock noch als Kastraten voll gefeatured, aber auch im 20. Jahrhundert voll gefragt bei Benjamin Britten, Aribert Reimann und vielen mehr. Altistinnen in der Oper dagegen sind gern noch böser als Mezzosoprane oder die lustige Alte, aber nicht nur - auch Intrigantinnen wie Annina im Rosenkavalier finden sich hier.
