Welcome to the latest "Let’s Hae a Wee Blether Aboot Gambling in Scotland" podcast, brought to you by Fast Forward’s Scottish Gambling Education Hub.
In this episode we look at international gambling policy. How do different countries manage and license their gambling and protect people from harm?
To do this, Jill Rodgers (from Fast Forward) and I spoke with Kate Seselja (The Hope Project) about her own journey through gambling harm. She describes how her experience fuelled her advocacy work in Australia and how she tries to influence a system that protects those experiencing harm.
The second part of this podcast we talk to individuals working in gambling harm across Europe to prevent harm and how their countries are legislating gambling. We have Riitta Matilainen (EHYT Finnish Association for Substance Abuse Prevention) and Stig Erik Sorheim (Actis, Norway)speaking to their work as part of the European Gambling Harm Prevention Network and their respective roles in the field of gambling harm.
Listener discretion is advised as we will be talking about some potentially triggering topics. This podcast discusses various issues around gambling. If you are worried about, or affected by the gambling of someone close to you, please know that you are not alone and confidential support is available.
