Today's Japanese lesson is on katakana from Chapter 9 of "Kevin Goes to Japan 1", "One-sided Love."

Let’s listen to the conversation.  In this chapter, I said that "n," "shi," and "so" in katakana are complicated to write in hand. You can learn how to write, "shi,' "n," and "so" in Katakana from Yumiko.

During the interview, when asked if he had any experience teaching English, Kevin couldn't get his head around the skills needed for the job in Japan. How does this "can't get my head around it" work?

There are at least two Japanese words describing "As expected" that are "An-no-jyo" and "Yappari."

日本語には少なくとも２つ、予想していた通りになったときにいう表現があります。「案の定」と「やっぱり」です。

Spoken Japanese is sometime omitted and change pronunciation, such as "Shiteoku"(I'll do it later) becomes "Shitoku," and "Yonde-oku," becomes "Yondoku." This lesson gives examples and grammatical explanations.   Also, you can listen to the whole of chapter 2 in "Kevin Goes to Japan 1."

日本語では「しておく」（文語）と「しとく」（口語）は同じ意味ですが、会話では文字を省略することが多いのですが、ある程度のルールがあります。それをケビンと一緒に勉強しましょう！「ケビン　日本へ行く1」のオーディオブックの第2章も全部聞くことができます。

「飯」を「ハン」と読めば朝ご飯、「めし」だと朝メシ。日本語は音読み、訓読みで読み方が変わりますが、使い方も変わることはあります。ケビンと弓子と一緒に新しい言葉遣いを習いましょう！

If you read this Kanji as "han," it is Asa-Gohan as breakfast, and "meshi," Asa-meshi as breakfast. You can read Kanjis in On-Yomi and Kun-Yomi, but the usage could also change. Kevin and Yumiko will teach you in Japanese and English! Let's study a new word with them!
