In this episode of "Life on Fire," Deidre and I share our journey of moving to Quebec and the beautiful new apartment we now call home. We dive into a significant topic: my recent ultra marathon, where I ran to raise funds for Rising Angels, an organization founded by Deidre's mom that supports women who have exited prostitution and human trafficking.
We discuss the importance of mentorship for these women as they navigate their new lives after trauma. I express my gratitude for the support we've received from our community, which allows us to continue our work in ministry and for Rising Angels. Deidre highlights the critical role of education and awareness in combating human trafficking, emphasizing the need for sensitivity when discussing such heavy topics.
As we reflect on my training and the challenges I faced during the race, I share how my experiences parallel the struggles of the women we aim to help. I recount the physical and mental battles I encountered, including a sprained ankle that tested my resolve. Throughout the race, I was reminded of the resilience required to overcome trauma, both in running and in life.
We also touch on the broader implications of human trafficking and the societal norms that perpetuate it. Deidre and I encourage listeners to consider how they can contribute to this cause, whether through financial support or by spreading awareness.
