Efter att ha guidats runt i Kairo och på Gizaplatån, åtföljer Houdini sin guide för en kvällspromenad i bazaren. Där uppstår en gräl mellan guiden och en annan man, som leder till att utmaning ges och godtas, till en duell på toppen av Giza pyramiden under månens sken. Houdini anmäler sig frivilligt som sekundant och efter mörkrets inbrott beger han sig med en skara män till pyramiden. Duellen visar sig dock endast vara ett svepskäl för att isolera trollkarlen och efter att ha övermannats och bundits av de hårdhänta beduinerna, bärs han med ögonbindel nedför pyramiden och börjar sänkas ned i en avgrund som tycks märkligt bottenlös.
