Sleepwalking, (also known as somnambulism), is a sleep disorder characterized by walking or performing other complex behaviours while in a state of sleep.
It is more common in children, who often outgrow it by their teenage years.
Sleepwalking typically occurs during non-REM (NREM) sleep, particularly in the deep sleep stage, and can lead to injuries if the person is not monitored.
While most episodes are harmless, they can pose risks, such as attempting to drive or engage in other dangerous activities while unaware.
