Welcome back to the show my Friend!

The back-to-school season is in full swing, bringing new routines, activities, and feelings. Even if your kids aren't in school yet, the seasonal change can make everything feel new.

Something that has been completely saving me in this (extremely) busy time of year is cleaning systems. When you have a routine in place that helps you get your house reset in those dirty high traffic areas nightly and weekly....it will make a huge difference in how 'messy' your home feels.

In this episode today, we will talk about...

Let's dive into 5 big reasons WHY your house feels messy and dirty and HOW a cleaning schedule will help you to combat these struggles. We want to begin to understand how a cleaning schedule is so crucial to your success in consistently resetting your home by keeping it tidy and clean.

Join me in my new 'BETA' coaching program, the Reset Remedy where I will walk you through a plug and play daily and weekly cleaning schedule customized to your unique needs and home. Let's discuss ways of getting your family to help, keep daily messes at bay and enjoy the feeling of waking up to a clean and reset house every morning. The back-to-school season is now in full swing for many of us in the Northern
Hemisphere now, and we are all trying our best to get into the swing of new
routines, new activities, new feelings.
There can be so much new going on. Even if your kids aren't actually in school

(00:20):
yet, there is still that feeling of newness in the air when there is a seasonal change approaching.
And so as promised, today we are diving into the final episode of the back to school series.
It has been so fun talking to
you about the back to school topics over the last five weeks, by the way.

(00:40):
I can't believe these five weeks have gone by so, so quickly.
However, as promised today, I want to talk to you about some reasons why your house feels messy.
I don't want you to have to live in that feeling anymore.
So I want to drop some truths for you of why this could be happening to you,
and what we can do about it. So let's dive in.

(01:07):
Do you wish that you had a peaceful, clutter-free home, but you are buried under
piles of toys and laundry?
Do you wish you could create simple systems to get organized,
but you just don't know where to start?
Hey there, I'm Amy, wife and mom to four littles.
For years, I thought that having an organized home meant Pinterest perfect and clean at all times.

(01:28):
I tried every tip for cleaning and organizing only to fall off track again and to feel like a failure.
Finally, I came to realize that in order to become the organized mom I wanted
to be, I had to start with organizing myself.
So I developed a simple framework that focuses on organization as the whole picture.

(01:48):
I am so excited to share it with you. So if you are ready for a peaceful,
clutter-free, and easy-to-maintain home, then this is the podcast for you.
Reach for your special snacks, brew some coffee, and go hide in the closet,
because it is time for some me time, mama. Let's learn!

(02:10):
As I'm sure so many of you can relate to, this official back to school week for us has been crazy.
I'm sure so many of you can relate to that feeling of just no matter how well
prepared you are, there is still always a lot of feelings and emotions and different
things that can jump up when change happens,

(02:33):
regardless of how big or small that change is.
And so being prepared, of course, helps with that.
But either way, we still have to work through all these things, right?
So anyways, for us, this marked the official start of back to school.
And so as much fun as it's been preparing for back to school over these past

(02:53):
five weeks, now the rubber really hit the road.
Now it's official. It's actually happening.
And all those things that we've been preparing for and trying to get organized
for have actually happened.
Happened and inevitably hiccups are going to happen
and great things are going to be crazy because
that is just the nature of life no matter how what the

(03:13):
plans are we make life always happens and so this
week has been no exception to that rule even for me so i just wanted to share
that if you are feeling totally overwhelmed this week and just really struggling
with all these new routines and new schedules and all these new things i am
right there with you and sending you all the love.

(03:34):
So for us, of course, as I've mentioned before, if you've been a listener for
a long time, we're farmers.
And so harvest is in full swing.
And then harvest is also happening at the same time as back to school.
So of course, it just marks a lot of busyness for everyone in the family.
And we are all doing our best to manage it.
So I am super thankful I've done the things I needed to do to get ready for back to school.

(03:58):
And part of those things that I promised you guys that you needed to have an
order in order to have a better fall and a better back to school preparation was cleaning things.
So I kid you not, I am literally recording this episode like five minutes before
you're going to hear it. I'm recording it right now.

(04:19):
It's very late. Maybe you were wondering where's the episode? It's Wednesday.
So apologies for that. However, it just goes to show that even when we do our
best to be prepared, sometimes life still They'll throw curve balls at us.
And one of those things for me this week was I didn't have a chance to get my
episode recorded a few days ahead of time like I normally do.

(04:40):
But the point of this story and the point of what I'm sharing with you in the
midst of how crazy this week has been,
like, I'm talking cooking exuberant
amounts of food to feed the harvest crew and running all over the place doing
errands for my husband for farm staff and appointments for the kids and picking

(05:03):
up kids from school because they only started for half a day first,
not a full day, and they can't ride the bus home and yada, yada, yada.
Like, I'm not saying it to say, oh, my week was harder than yours.
I'm saying it to say, if your week was hard too, I totally get it.
We are in this together, sister.
So the point of this all being is that I was so thankful that cleaning routines

(05:24):
and cleaning schedules is one of those systems I have in place that I'm so thankful
I have in place because it has really been something I can just trust on and
fall back on and lean on during this difficult,
busy time. because it's something that I already had in place.
So I already have those those kind

(05:44):
of routines and systems in place that help me to get my cleaning tasks done
and to do them quickly and also to ensure that my home is being reset every
day and every week so that I'm not coming out of this busy time of year deeper
in the mess than when where I started.

(06:04):
So that is why today I wanted to share with
you some reasons why your home might be feeling
messy so that you can kind of see these are
some of the things that that is causing
the mess to kind of build up and feel more overwhelming and then lastly how
having a cleaning routine a cleaning schedule can help you to manage all this

(06:30):
when you have that consistent reliable schedule to fall back on so that is what
what I wanted to share with you today.
And I actually really love talking about cleaning. It is kind of a passion of mine.
So with all this talk about cleaning schedules and routines,
I wanted to invite you to join me in something very special.
I have a few spots available this month for a reset remedy,

(06:52):
and I wanted to invite you to spend an hour with me digging into how we can
fix this problem of struggling with having a consistent cleaning routine.
I want to help you have a way
to reset your home every single
day and every single week using quick and

(07:12):
simple plug and play instructions so
that you can enjoy a cleaner
home and a reset home every day
and every week so that when you have these busy
seasons of life you do not come out of them
feeling deeper in the mess than you were before so
that you can have a simple way of staying on top of these

(07:35):
tasks in 15 to 30 minutes a
day and not even every single day of the
week most often because when we create a
system around our cleaning schedule based
off of our unique goals and needs and family dynamics beautiful things can happen
so i would like to invite you to join me with for one hour and i promise to

(07:58):
give you plug and play templates because i know you're busy i know you don't
have time to do another other thing.
And so what I want to do is to take what you're already doing,
systemize it, clean it up, organize it, and give you exact step-by-step instructions
of what you need to be doing every single day to reset your home.

(08:19):
The reset remedy. You spend an hour with me and I promise you I will give you
hours of your time back again by creating a system around cleaning,
weekly cleaning schedules and daily cleaning schedules for you.
I want to give you the plug and play to make this as easy as possible.
So send me a message at amy at plantomom.com. So that's A-M-Y at P-L-A-N-T-O-M-O-M.com

(08:49):
and let's chat more about this.
The awesome thing about this opportunity for you is that this is a beta offer,
meaning as I build this out and learn more ways of how you moms uniquely are

as I am building my knowledge and experience in doing that for you,

(09:13):
you get access to this special beta program for a limited time.
So this is a beta coaching offer where you can get an hour with me for only
$47 and we will work to simplify everything for you and get you tons of time back again.
So again, this is a special opportunity for you.

(09:36):
Spots are limited, so do not hesitate to jump on this opportunity today.
And in the meantime, let's dig into our five reasons that our home feels messy
and then what we're going to do about it.
I want you to pick the one out of these five, this is your homework,
pick the one out of these five that most resonates with you and most stands

(09:59):
out to you as being the biggest problem for you.
And then to end it off, we will talk about why having a routine will help you.
So reason number one is you don't actually have a real daily cleaning routine that you're following.
Yeah, let's be honest with ourselves
there is a very good chance that

(10:22):
you're winging it you're just doing what
you have time for or just kind of
cleaning things up as you go throughout the day feeling like
you're cleaning up what you need to be cleaning up but really
when it comes down to it there is not a set daily
routine that you're following every single day at set times of the the day in

(10:42):
order to properly get your house reset and ready for the next day by the end
of every day so that you can enjoy a more consistently cleaner home.
Reason number two is this one. It's a hard one.
Reason number two, you are cleaning up after everyone else because they don't

(11:05):
do it themselves and it's easier for you to just do it than to nag and pick
a fight and try to convince them to get this done.
I can feel this. I too have kids that don't like cleaning up after themselves.
I too have to put a lot of effort into actually getting my kids to clean up

(11:30):
the things that they need to clean up.
And now I'm not going to go into like a parenting or chore lesson here because
that's not what this is about.
What this is about is pointing out that your home is feeling messy.
To you because you are constantly cleaning
up everyone else's mess therefore it feels

(11:52):
messier to you because you feel responsible for
all those things that are not yours and also we are not getting others to help
with this and so your home is just kind of feeling consistently messy because
no one is actually following through with what we want them to do by helping

(12:12):
out with chores and helping cleaning up and tidying up their stuff.
Reason number three, you are cleaning reactively.
What does this mean?
This, and again, don't forget your homework. Pick the one that resonates most
with you, write it down, and reflect on it.
Okay, so reason number three, you are cleaning reactively.
This means you are cleaning things that are dirty as you notice that they're dirty.

(12:36):
So you're thinking, oh, that looks really gross.
Let's just clean that a minute. Okay, that's not always bad,
and it might seem great and effective in theory but
if you're constantly just re-cleaning
the exact same high traffic messy things like especially multiple times throughout
the day when it's just going to get dirty again the second you turn your back

(13:00):
how are you going to actually have time to effectively clean the rest of your
home so basically what's this meaning is that
you're cleaning reactively instead of cleaning based off of a fixed schedule
that actually consistently serves to get your house reset on a daily and weekly basis.

(13:20):
Reason number four is you don't have a nightly reset in place.
I get it. At the end of the day, you want to collapse into a pile of mush on
the couch after a busy day.
I totally get it. I myself feel that in my bones.
Right now, friends, I kid you not, it is 9.13 p.m. I'm recording this episode. It's Wednesday.

(13:43):
This episode was supposed to be out to you at five o'clock this morning,
but I have been out of the
house literally all day today running errands
running my husband to fix things for the farm it
has been crazy but you better bet
your bottom dollars that I
am going to make sure my house is reset to the

(14:06):
best of my absolute ability tonight before I go to sleep so that when we wake
up for school tomorrow morning I'm not like a frazzled mess trying to trip over
the kids to to clean up the kitchen just so that I can make them breakfast just
so I can get them out the door on time for the bus.
You better believe that's not going to happen because I don't want to do that

(14:26):
to myself because I have a set nightly home reset in place that I know I got
to get this done every night like unless I am puking my guts out or something
so that the next morning I feel better. I feel more at peace.
I can be more graceful and patient with my family.

(14:46):
And part of this nightly reset actually starts before supper time. It involves them.
They have a place in this nightly reset too. And you better believe that we
do that even if they're having a, even if we're all having a hard day,
we find a way to make sure these nightly resets get done.
And so you might You might be feeling like your home is always feeling messy

(15:10):
because there is a chance that you don't have a nightly reset in place.
Okay, and now reason number five, the last reason why you might be feeling like
your home is messier than it needs to be feeling, and it's bugging you,
driving you crazy, and you don't know what to do.
Reason number five that this could be happening is because you don't have routines

(15:32):
built into your cleaning schedule that support your overall house organization goals.
What does that mean? What does that big sentence mean? That
big sentence means that you don't have a system in place that builds some time
into your weekly cleaning routine that supports the goals you have in regards

(15:57):
to your house cleaning and house organizing tasks.
So you haven't built routines into your cleaning schedule that support your
overall goals in regards to how you want your house to look and feel and function.
So those are the five reasons why you could be feeling like your house is messy.

(16:18):
And now I don't want to leave you hanging because that wouldn't be very nice.
I don't want to leave you without some hope. We always need hope on the other
side of recognizing our struggles, right?
So the hope in this is why having a routine is going to help you.
Because what we're talking about is how do we build a cleaning schedule and

(16:40):
a cleaning routine that works for us so that we can have our homes reset every
day and every week consistently to keep them cleaner and tidier overall.
So why will a routine help you? Because let's first talk about what does routine even mean?
A routine means a series, according to dictionary, a series of events regularly

(17:01):
followed or a and a fixed program.
So do you have a fixed program that tells you exactly what you need to be cleaning
each and every day and resetting each and every day in order to support your
house feeling tidier and cleaner overall? Do you have that?

(17:22):
If you do not, then a routine, a cleaning schedule, cleaning routine,
whatever you want to call it, it's in a way kind of interchangeable.
How can we set that up to help you?
So the reason why it will help you to have a routine or schedule in place is because,
it gives your brain something to rely on, that it knows, according to this schedule

(17:47):
you've put in place, that every single day we're going to do these tasks,
and every single week we're going to do these tasks.
And it just, it gives your brain something to rely on.
It helps you to know exactly what you need to be doing.
And it also helps you then to prioritize what
you need to be doing so that you can kind of set aside
those things that are just busy work that aren't actually

(18:09):
helping you make progress you can kind of set those things
aside and focus on what actually is going to move the needle and actually make
a difference overall so instead of just following your kid around the house
all day constantly cleaning up after them like I used to do I used to literally
just feel like I was following my kids around all day,

(18:30):
reactively reacting to every single little mess that they made and just constantly
cleaning up behind them all day.
And then I had no time left to actually clean anything I needed to clean.
Or I was just reactively cleaning things
that were dirty as I saw them because I was

(18:50):
letting it drive me crazy instead of putting
a plan in place to strategically strategically address those issues and to follow
a set routine that repeated so that I was constantly staying on top of these
messes instead of waiting for them to get so bad that I had to address it.

(19:10):
So you see the difference there?
A cleaning routine is going to help you to consistently.
Keep things cleaner so that you're not letting things get to such a point that
you're cleaning it because you absolutely have to because it's so dirty you
can't let it go another day because you've let it go for way too long in between cleaning it.

(19:32):
Instead, you are taking consistent daily action to keeping things cleaner according
to a set schedule, a repeating set schedule that your brain can rely on.
You're keeping things cleaner overall, which means you can not only clean things faster,
but also that things are consistently being reset so that you don't have to

(19:55):
feel panicked anymore when people just,
surprise, eyes show up at your door and want
to come in for a visit you'll feel good knowing
that you cleaned your bathroom last week and that even though the toilet might
not be spotless whose toilet is spotless every single day i mean i clean it
and then the next second my kid goes washroom it's dirty right but you'll feel

(20:19):
good knowing that you did clean it consistently and so at least it's not
going to be a pigsty in there or that you reset your
kitchen table last night so it's
not piled to the moon with stuff on it like
there might be a little bit of stuff on it but it's not out of hand because
you are being consistent so anyways that in a nutshell is the biggest things

(20:43):
that I wanted to talk to you about today in regards to some reasons why your
house feels messy how a cleaning schedule and routine is going to help you with
that and just to finish it all off if you're still with me here.
Why did I bring this into back to school?
I brought this into back to school because it's very important that setting

(21:04):
up a cleaning schedule and routine for ourselves as part of this new back to
school routine season, it's very important.
Your kids aren't the only ones that need schedule and routines.
We need it too. And so there's no better time than this fall to set up a cleaning
schedule that is going to help you to consistently perform those resets.

(21:28):
So that is why I brought this into the back to school series.
And that is why this is the final episode of the back to school series that
I wanted to leave you with.
Because now that your kids are actually back in
school and you're done like packing the
backpacks with school supplies and you're you're kind of
done all those pre back to school tasks
and now you're in more of the post phase now

(21:51):
it's time to finish getting your own
self in order by completing this
circle with getting your house in order by creating that
cleaning schedule and routine so again the way i want to help you do this is
that you jump on a reset remedy coaching call with me we chat together for an

(22:14):
hour over zoom i am very accommodating with my schedule in terms of understanding that.
Nap time might be the only time you can chat, bedtime might be the only time, like in the evening.
So I am available evenings and some Saturdays and throughout the day.
So we chat for an hour. I promise to give you plug and play instructions for

(22:36):
exactly what to reset on a daily and weekly basis.
Some tasks that you can hand off to your family to get them involved to take
some things off your plate.
We will chat about all those things and you will come away with it knowing exactly
what to do without wondering what you should be cleaning in order to have a
reset home daily and weekly.

(22:57):
So let's do that and I am so looking forward to chatting with you.
Again, go to email me amy at plan2mom.com and we will chat more about getting
you in on this special beta offer for just $47.
