But instead of tracking a human criminal, the men discover they are on the trail of an ancient Evil, the Wolf Man of Appalachia, and that they, the hunters, have become the hunted. Armandine and the Bookseller remain trapped in the bookshop by the mountain storm. Kephart, Catch, and The Snake Stick Man continue their pursuit of Buck Ruff only to discover that the Sugarlands are more dangerous than they ever could have imagined.
