This Pride Month, Mouth-Off revisits a milestone from the archive: Welsh and Proud – Schools’ Songwriting Sessions (2014). Funded by the Arts Council of Wales and produced by Forget-Me-Not Productions — our first project as a Ltd company — this initiative brought together over 150 pupils from five Cardiff secondary schools to create original LGBTQIA+ themed anthems.
The winning song, The Person Within, was professionally recorded, filmed, and screened on the main stage at Cardiff Pride 2014.
A decade later, we untangle the cables, revisit the voices, and reflect on the queer legacy of music, memory, and visibility.
