Jesus and his disciples have left the small town of Bethany, which is known as the House of Figs. Feeling hungry, Jesus noticed a fig tree but found it barren, with no fruit on it. In his frustration, he cursed the tree. In our Bible study today, we will explore the significance of the fig tree and examine various instances in the Bible where fig trees are mentioned. We will also discuss how God uses the fig tree as a symbol to represent Israel.

Study Questions:(ask yourself)

  1. Are you hiding anything behind the fig leaves?
  2. Are you producing good fruit?
  3. If Jesus examined your tree, what would he find fruit or leaves?
  4. What is the Holy Spirit saying right now?
