In the first story, two best friends named Melanie and Elizabeth get swept away to a magical island on an overcast day. They discover a world where nature and man-made objects can communicate and move. They learn to trust in the mystery and find that everything around them is there to help them. In the second story, a shy and insecure boy named Jeffrey overcomes his fear of public speaking by reading a word out loud in class. This small success leads him to try other things he thought he couldn't do, and he discovers the joy of facing his fears and trying new things.
