Uit onderzoek blijkt dat het vinden én behouden van werk een grote uitdaging kan zijn voor mensen die kanker hebben (gehad). Dat zien we ook regelmatig bij gasten van IntermeZZo, zeker bij jonge mensen. Kanker roept veel levensvragen op, óók over werk: wat kan ik, wat wil ik, hoe kan ik het volhouden? En ook: als ik ga solliciteren, vertel ik dan over de diagnose kanker? En zo ja, wanneer is daar het juiste moment voor?
Fenna van Ommen doet bij Amsterdam UMC onderzoek naar de ondersteuning van werkzoekenden met en na kanker. Dit project, dat wordt gefinancierd door KWF, is een nauwe samenwerking met onder andere UWV en IKNL. Fenna vertelt vanuit haar persoonlijke drive over de opzet, het doel en de eerste bevindingen van het PLACES-onderzoek. Ervaringsdeskundige en gast van IntermeZZo Jimmy Nauw, deed onderzoek naar de behoefte aan ondersteuning bij AYA's (AYA's: mensen met kanker tussen de 18-39 jaar) en zit nu zelf in de transitieperiode van studie naar werk. Fenna en Jimmy vertellen en leggen uit, elk vanuit hun perspectief en onderzoek.
