On this episode I'm going to dive into the Ottomans before The Great War kicked off. For a brief period of time there was hopes of stability and economic growth for the Empire. But the Entente and Central Powers had other plans for them.
This is episode 51 and will cover one soldiers experience from the 3rd Battle of Artois, September 25th - November 4th. This experience comes from French Corporal Louis Barthas' Notebook: Poilu
Barthas kept a journal during the war documenting his experience. After the war ended he began writing a manuscript which was found by his grandson after Louis had already passed away. His manuscript was finally published in 1978.
