Ook onderzoekt Saskia hoe het moderne beeld van de ‘sprookjes heks’ is ontstaan en welke betekenis de heksenvervolgingen vandaag de dag nog hebben. Van Stam van de Vos hoort ze wat hedendaagse hekserij kan betekenen en hoe historische kennis daarbij een rol speelt. Ze gaat op bezoek bij Atria, het kennisinstituut voor emancipatie en vrouwengeschiedenis, waar ze meer leert over de manier waarop feministen zich de term ‘heks’ eigen maakten. En Madyasa Vijber, verloskundige, vertelt hoe de oude associatie tussen vroedvrouwen en hekserij haar beroepsgroep nog steeds parten speelt.
Neeltje en Marytje leefden misschien 400 jaar geleden, maar de heks is nog steeds onder ons, als archetype én in levende lijve.
