“As ons terugkyk na toe òns nog op skool was teen vandag, sien ‘n mens dat absoluut niks verander het nie” is haar stelling as sy Suid-Afrika se opvoedingstelsel vergelyk teen ander gevorderde lande soos Singapore en Finland.
Namate die wêreld evolueer terwyl die opvoedkundige struktuur staties bly, het Geertjie dit noodsaaklik geag om alternatiewe roetes vir haar dogter te verken. "Ek beoog nie dat my kind te alle tye volmaaktheid moet behaal nie, maar ten minste moet sy die vermoë hê om vir haarself te dink, take onafhanklik aan te pak, en uitdagings sonder vrees aan te gaan."
