we are here we made it we're on time
we're live we have audio we have better
audio than we had last week uh it's
Wednesday it's 5 30. I know you're
confused because it's daylight savings
time and you were like yeah how are
these guys who can't even pull it
together on a regular night gonna be on
time on this sort of a night but we
pulled it off uh I'm Casey with Cascadia

(01:10):
dispatch this is episode 51 of prep talk
live and joining me as always or at
least 99.9 of the time is top the urban
prepper tough what is up how are you how
was your week what's been going on uh
just keeping busy with uh uh work and
family stuff and uh burning the candle
for both ends and filming b-roll footage

(01:31):
and doing editing and stuff so yeah it's
all in all it's going okay
they're doing that
it's gonna do like a true
hot story type thing because we're
working on that so it's kind of an
evasive do you think the other channels
that we talk about do they have candle
burners like do they like when we're
burning the candle at both then do you
think they have people to burn the

(01:52):
candle for them
I don't I don't know how that how it
operates there I know they have uh they
have staffs and I think board meetings
and committees stock options and stuff
oh my God yeah it's got a big time oh my
goodness well welcome welcome in
everybody I'm seeing all the usual the
usual crew is is here spies here checks

(02:14):
here uh Pony girl is here
uh mother of healers is here we got all
kinds of people coming in uh I think
it's gonna be a wonderful show it's a
carryover show from last week uh and if
you didn't watch last week's episode how
dare you
um go back and watch it it's uh it's on
YouTube uh it's coming soon to the
podcast we're catching everything up I

(02:36):
uploaded I think uh it's like 25 or 30
episodes uh over this weekend and got
them all scheduled out so they're gonna
drop one episode a day every weekday for
the next like four or five weeks I think
um to get us all caught up um and then
all the new ones are gonna be out and
then we'll be on the one a week so

(02:57):
um if you enjoy the podcast as opposed
to the YouTube go ahead and subscribe
over there and if I will say this if you
were one of our our uh usual uh fans and
Watchers and everything else and you
have access to a podcast platform you
wouldn't mind going and leaving a review
on there uh we're trying to get a little

(03:17):
traction on this whole podcast platform
thing so that would be greatly
appreciated
um but yeah so anyway so that's what
that's what I was up to I was putting
podcasts together for all of us nice
excellent
um making that happen and I set up a
whole other batch of shirt designs so
all the random designs that we've talked
about over the last uh over the last

(03:37):
like
six months
um what are some of the what are some of
the best better ones
um best prepper in my price range yeah
that one is their
um hashtag humble is gonna be out there
um I I did not get uh two tools one top
um because I have to get the image I

(03:57):
have to get your logo uh so that's that
your PDF oh and some other good ones
yeah cpf is gonna be on there
um I have a list that I put together I
can pull that up but yeah there was a
bunch of
um there was a bunch of new ones that
went out so uh I'm looking very much
forward to all of those yeah bougie

(04:20):
prepper because it looks like Chuck
wants his bougie prepper shirt bougie
bougie prepper is the the design is done
we gotta get it I gotta get it on a
shirt so that's happening
um rooster booster
um only perhaps uh with the only fans
sort of an idea we had that
um drama magnet wow look at all this
stuff and uh trauma magnets uh pepper

(04:43):
problems yeah cheap meat yeah cheat meat
yeah meat uh and I'm debating about
whether we should take the only prep the
logo design and just put that with cheat
meat and with rooster booster so it's
like rooster booster on only preps or
something like that you know that might
be even uh you've been uh you've been

(05:03):
busy yeah you know you got to keep the
marketing side of things yeah all of the
things going so that we continue to you
know turn out dozens and dozens of views
that is the entire goal
um all right let's see there was a lot
of chatting going on yeah people say hi
for the most part yeah Robin from VA is
here Damien is here yeah the bougie

(05:23):
pepper shirt
um yes that is that is happening
um so yeah we I got the design for that
um I'm actually gonna make like a poster
with all the designs on it part of the
new backdrop that we're building out
here so I'll have that
um let's see what is going on yes very
excited for that uh tup is on the live

(05:45):
feed and uh and it is a lot better this
week I think they're trying to shut me
down last week yeah
USB cable and uh I'm on the right
internet Network so everything won't
smoothly so far so and I reset my laptop
yeah I was I was a little worried that

(06:06):
um that you were gonna need a new
microphone yeah no because that's a
whole different problem that's a whole
different setup than if you just needed
um if you just needed the USB cable so
that's fantastic this is kind of clear
yeah that's kind of we're I'm dealing
with some rookie problems here for for
cables and equipment and stuff but I
think we got it worked out so yeah

(06:29):
um Jeremiah wanted to know if I have any
updates on the backyard bunker build
yeah let's see uh yeah the update it is
done uh the bunker has been built
um there's still some little like things
that I'm trying to get settled in here
um but I am going to do some sort of
either
a live stream tour or some sort of an
actual video tour something like that

(06:52):
um of all the different things
um I got a new kind of uh fold up table
that I can do top down shop shots on
when we're doing like product
demonstrations and reviews and stuff so
I got that put in place
um so yeah so it's it's very cool I it
is now my office I'm in here every day

(07:12):
um for the most part it is very
wonderful I love it very much
we got uh we finally got gravel put down
so it's not a mud bog trying to get from
the house to to the the bunker so that's
been wonderful and uh so yeah so it's
good but there will be updates
um on all the different tips and tricks

(07:34):
and things that we put in here and then
hopefully
I was hoping to start it this week it
didn't happen so it might be next week
or the week after uh but I am going to
start a second like a little during the
day live stream sort of a thing probably
on Mondays
um just to try to make the video
production a little more efficient on my

(07:54):
side of things nice um talking about
products and and gear reviews and stuff
and then also like basically what I
would do in a normal video but instead
of like spending a lot of time on the
video I'm gonna do like a live stream
and just kind of talk about it with
people and do it yeah yeah so we'll see
what uh we'll see what that happened
um yes the uh the floor storage uh it is

(08:17):
it is here
um there is stuff stored um there's
gonna be more stuff stored
um I gotta kind of clean them out a
little bit they got they were open when
they were building it and so they're wet
they got wet and then there was like a
little bit of mud and stuff that got in
it with dirty construction so I gotta
kind of clean it out and then put
everything else in it but it is
wonderful to have them uh they the

(08:39):
contractor did a fantastic job of making
sure that they kind of blend in with the
floor as much as like
Handles in the floor can blend in but uh
but there isn't a bunch of ridges or
anything so uh it looks really really
slick I'm I'm very excited very happy
about it
um
but you might have to do like a like
yeah like the next time you guys come
through Portland or something we'll be

(09:00):
like yeah I'm definitely driving through
in July I know so but although we
usually we go we go around Portland
usually we go to Mount Hood route so
that's usually our room we'll meet up at
the mountains we'll have a touch Point
what I'm gonna love is if you are
driving through Portland the time that
we're driving up to Seattle yeah yeah
that would be fantastic we could meet
like each other in like Olympia or

(09:22):
something you'll be like hey yeah
um also a quick quick just
um let's do just a quick poll of the
chat we got a comment last week from
from someone who was listening to our

(09:44):
podcast they were very excited about the
topic and they were very annoyed that we
talked at the beginning
they wanted us to just get right to the
point oh I didn't I didn't see that I
don't know if I saw that one nice and I
feel like part of our charm is our
banter like that's what makes us us so
uh just a quick to the chat like should
we just jump in and do topics or should

(10:05):
we banter side note if you say we should
just do topics we're not going to do
that we're going to continue to Banter
yields probably need to find a different
podcast but
yeah well oftentimes like we get here
right on time and then if we say hey hi
let's go live and then so there is just
this kind of natural banter that happens
is there ever a point Chuck came through
with okay so that's going on the list of

(10:27):
the next t-shirt designs is there ever a
point yeah no no there isn't it's just
because we enjoy each other and have fun
yeah I enjoy the sponsor spontaneity and
all that kind of stuff I think it's it's
fun and usually the best moments happen
during uh random thoughts that we have
that go off script so tactical chickens
did not come from a planned script yeah

(10:49):
all these all these t-shirt logos and
Brands and stuff that you have those are
all from banter so exactly yeah the
prosthetic
that wasn't in the script that wasn't
that wasn't maybe what we need is like
hashtag banter like that maybe needs to
be a shirt design too uh but we do have
a topic though I know we do pets and

(11:10):
Preppers who love them yes which is the
same topic we had last week but we can't
we Dove it yeah we dove into it there
was a lot to go into
yeah exactly yeah no I was just I was
gonna say that my my dog uh I think I
was saying last week of I have one dog
that hates me and uh it doesn't trust me
but I've been making slow progress with
it over the last week which is a big

(11:31):
deal because we've had the dog for New
Year almost two years so and it still
doesn't like me but uh it started I I it
let me pet it one time because it's it's
addicted to to squeezing its muzzle
basically it likes that and so then I
after I squeeze the muzzle and she let
me do that then I pet her and she she
let me do that for a couple seconds so

(11:51):
so there's some progress made but again
if it's the apocalypse like the bad dogs
that's that's yeah if you don't
appreciate yourself to the to the people
with the bug out Vehicles yeah you're
not coming along for the ride I don't
think she's she's not gonna she's not
gonna make the final cut I don't think
so yes so she needs to I think she knows
that so no I have a question it sounds

(12:11):
like you're doing a lot of training for
this for this dog are you making a PDF
of how to prepare your pet for the
Apocalypse
probably should uh I haven't started any
PDF for the for the docs that uh it's
mainly just making sure that like the
what we do have our stashes and stuff
are in good shape and I haven't
forgotten about because there's so many
different things when you have like your

(12:32):
your home preps and all the things in
your house and like sometimes you'll
forget to uh you know you'll have some
dog food or something that's eight years
old or something like that in there so
yeah yeah the uh the uh
oh I just but yeah I was just thinking
about I'll you know come back to me
um but you were talking about your
stashes and everything did you see

(12:53):
Canadian prepper uh he put out like a
little animated video last week oh cool
I didn't see it um it was like an
Instagram reel or something but it was
about
um it was about expiration dates
of uh medications and things yep
um and it was it was just interesting
because he found uh I'm sure there's

(13:14):
other people that found it but there was
some sort of Department of Defense
document or something that talked about
this
um Extended shelf life plan that they
had put in place or something and it
made it so that like Tylenol don't quote
me on this anyone because I don't
remember but I'm giving you an example
whatever it was like 10 years or it was

(13:35):
like 142 months or something beyond the
expiration date was 90 potency oh wow um
and so it was just it was interesting
because as we talk about like all the
preps and cycling through and everything
else
um
that is something that I was like oh
okay well that makes me feel a lot
better about you know all the random
medications that we have and and things
like dog and cat food that you might

(13:57):
have that's extra that you know says
it's supposed to be used at a certain
point like you might be able to use that
for even longer or something like that
yeah I think uh well if all else fails I
can always go the Full Spectrum Survival
route and just and start growing rats to
feed the dogs
we'll be bugging out and I'll be like
the Pied Piper with rats and that's
going to be my dog feed I guess yeah

(14:18):
exactly
yeah my dogs are not they're uh they're
not good Hunters though either so
these These dogs are a liability they're
the locals it sounds like it yeah
they're fragile legs they're skinny and
they're small they can't protect me and
they don't even like me or at least one
doesn't oh that's that's yeah I think

(14:39):
I'd be more comfortable taking like a 10
year old Tylenol than like 10 year old
heart medicine though so I I don't know
I'd have to I need to check out that
that real then yeah the uh the examples
they gave were like Benadryl and Tylenol
um the radiation pills the potassium
iodide
um yeah yeah exactly which I just got
that the other day actually I don't know

(15:00):
why like it's one of those things I feel
like as a prepper person like you kind
of did this threshold where like you've
got full coverage yeah you have to have
it but like do you really have to have
it I I don't know but yeah I remember uh
yeah I have that for the whole family so
uh and I've had had it for a while but I
remember uh during like the the
Fukushima stuff over in Japan that I had

(15:22):
some Preppers or you start taking the
potassium out and now listen to me I'm
glad I did it at the time even though it
was yeah at the time those there's
concerns about it and like I didn't want
to have radioactive tuna fish from the
Pacific Ocean or anything but uh uh yeah
but I do have some of that and I but I
feel like a
I'll use it for as only when you're

(15:42):
absolutely sure so yeah exactly only
only when there is a radioactive yeah
but someone was like I mean wanted me to
take it immediately and I had a couple I
had a local friend too that was like
dude you gotta take it like right now
and I'm like no I'm not taking it yeah
exactly like I don't eat that much I
don't need to worry about you know
radioactive salmon or anything
um Wrangler star did a regularly so

(16:04):
Canadian prep we were the bad boys of
prepping because we had tick tocks you
know for a while before before it was
cool Canadian pepper came on and his
production team have just taken over
Tick Tock um and now regular star has
also I think put his production team on
and he's putting out tick tocks all the
time
um and he's got something about

(16:25):
potassium iodide the other day yep yeah
I saw I saw one that he did on like he
didn't he didn't trust the Bic lighter
in a survival situation and wanted to go
with the fair cerium Rod I still like I
still do the pick lighters though so
yeah big letters are Urban uh the the
striker rods are for Rural scenarios so
yeah he was
nothing

(16:45):
on
on just you know preparedness and
survival stuff I believe he's somehow
like I don't know if he's actually like
a forest firefighter or if he's like in
the forest service or something I feel
like he's somehow connected there I
don't know a ton of his backstory
um but he always has a lot of like uh
Lumber and Timber and Forest references

(17:08):
and a lot of his stuff
um but he's had some really interesting
um kind of like survival I would say
quasi military sort of things around
like the type of watch you should wear
and some of that sort of stuff I was
like that was a really cool little tips
yeah so I met him one time years ago
he's very nice and his wife's nice too

(17:29):
so yeah and he had the greatest Tick
Tock that I've ever seen from a prepper
talking about how much wood was going in
the throat of the wood splitter thing
which has been all over the place I was
like exactly yeah yeah yeah big fans big
fans
um okay sorry so back to pets so you got
the dog yeah so you've got the dog that
is probably gonna you know they're gonna

(17:51):
make the cut yeah are they big dogs or
are they like dirty talking about
capsized cat-sized dogs yeah okay so so
like purse puppies yes exactly yeah so
so they're portable and they eat less
food because if you had a big rottweiler
Well yeah if you had a big rottweiler
it'd be heavy to carry enough food that
you need for it so
um so that's one benefit is on the
little dogs and they're also they bark

(18:13):
at like when people come to the door so
I guess they're they're earning their
keep what their their Night Watch type
stuff but uh yeah so we have the we have
two cats as well one of the cats is uh
older the other one's uh the kitten and
I don't know if they're gonna make the
cut the kittens we have a rocky
relationship too so yes it seems like
you have a lot of animals that dislike

(18:34):
you I I feel like
with lyric You're the problem it's you
well I didn't want a cat and my but then
my wife got one for my daughter's
birthday and uh and uh and so I kind of
it was kind of forced on me so I did so
it's always been kind of a bone of
contention and uh and so this cat knows
that I didn't want it because it's a
it's like a 15-year commitment for this

(18:56):
and I didn't want to cat because I don't
I prefer dogs and uh anyway the cat I
think new sense that I had negative
energy and was kind of you know always
trying to butter me up and stuff like
that and so he started but then I don't
know if I told you this but uh he's been
at like four to five a.m my because I'm
pretty tall so my feet only stick out
beyond the blankets and he just decides
at four or five a.m he's just gonna

(19:17):
attack my feet with his claws and it's
like that's like uh that gets you kicked
out of the team the bug out yeah yeah
exactly that you're you know what you're
on your own you don't find your own rats
it's you versus the Zombies because
that's not happening but he's been
messing me with it like that for for a
while now so it's it's a again it's a
problem so there's two pets I think that
have made that made the cut my doc with

(19:38):
the dog that likes me and the Cat That's
the older cat that's a little bit more
well-behaved so and the first the fish
are gone that's like a that's that's
initial protein you just leave the fish
to the cat to the kitten the dog that
are leaving like here here's a head
start on your on your Provisions enjoy
the fish we're out of here and good luck
and and Godspeed yeah plenty of water

(19:59):
for it but uh and then if they could
actually catch what some of the fish are
pretty big we have this big eel that's
like the size of my arm so it's it's
huge so that'd be
is it possible that the cat doesn't like
you because it knows you didn't want it
and is it possible that dogs don't like
you because they think you like the cats
uh I think the dogs know that I'm a dog
dogs no dog people I think do we just

(20:21):
need like some some family therapy here
like we're bringing like Caesar Milan
and and uh the cat guy
um that I can't remember his name but he
had like the Show on TLC and he has like
a darkest I know who you're talking
about Jackson yeah we'll get them
together and help bridge the gap
um maybe the fish could play a role as

(20:42):
well I don't know they could be like
Switzerland yeah
yeah I guess I'm looking at some of the
comments too as they're coming in yeah
it's it's it's a tough situation because
a lot for a lot of people your pets or
your their like family members some
people that don't have kids for example
like their animals are their kids and so
they're part of their buckout plans or
part of their emergency evacuation but

(21:03):
it's tough like if your dog doesn't even
like you type things so uh and and the
big dogs there's like different
struggles that you would have with a big
dog versus a little dog too or cats
because you can't cats aren't going to
like follow you as you're going down the
road they're going to do their own thing
so to deal with fur yeah uh the yeah I
got the eel for anniversary present for

(21:23):
my wife because she likes this one
particular type of eel uh if someone
says do you get along with any of your
pets yes I get the one I I got one dog
that loves me because I I I got the dog
from California flew it up we got it
special order from California I flew
down there to pick up this dog and
brought it back on the plane so it likes
me and then the cat likes me too
although the cat was actually all these

(21:45):
like like the cat was a trick because my
at one point this is years back when we
first got it but we had a rodent problem
and so we had these rats and they're all
they're like big rats and so my wife's
like well we need a cat so we could uh
so we could kill the rats and then she
didn't I'm like okay that's a good idea
and then she gets this little kitten
that's like smaller than the rats and so
he had to wait for you to wait for it to

(22:07):
grow up before it could even do anything
so I got tricked on that one too so you
you had the apocalypse plan yeah I was
thinking like I wanted yeah I wanted a
hardcore cat like a you know like a like
a bird cat you just wanted that to and
what you've got and said was not that
yeah so and then I had to get these

(22:28):
right I figured out that my I don't know
if I gotta keep forgetting who I've told
the stories to but my my way of getting
the rats I now have a system for it I
should probably make a PDF but I have
the the big rat traps and then I use uh
half cooked bacon with wire that's
wrapped around it because the these rats
are pretty smart so they were like
picking the food off of it or they're

(22:48):
setting off the Trap and then taking the
food afterwards so then I put the half
cooked bacon which they can't they can't
resist and you kind of wrap it with like
a picture frame wire and it and so they
have to kind of yank it and I got all of
them that way it was a let's be honest
who can resist half cooked bacon well
just the smell of bacon yeah

(23:09):
it was a it was kind of a brutal brutal
summer when that happened but I feel
like it's amazing you only caught rats
like I would imagine that small children
adults
we buy yeah well we we have them set in
a particular room that we locked and and
everyone knew don't go in there type
thing and so and the dogs weren't
allowed there so

(23:30):
um yeah fine Amy wants to know
um there will be a mutiny if Little Miss
Peppers cat got ousted
yeah she would that'd be tough to be her
responsibility like uh yeah and we need
a little Miss Pepper's pissed shirt
apparently
yeah yeah I feel like that she would be
very that's her cat and the Cat's very

(23:50):
loves her and she could do anything she
could like uh the the older cat is all
they're both really good with the kids
and there's one time where Little Miss
prepper was uh like a more of a toddler
and I I was in the restroom and I hear I
hear the cat screaming and I'm like it's
yelling and everything I'm like what's
going on it's like I go out to the
dining room and Little Miss Preppers

(24:11):
holding the cat by the tail she's just a
toddler and the cat's flailing around
but it won't it will not hurt her though
no matter what so
so I had to tell her not to do that but
the cat the cat is like very protective
not protective but would never hurt the
kids no matter even if they'd yank their
tail later what I think we learned is
why the cat attacks your feet

(24:36):
the kids
tack the cat during the day and the
cat's like look I'm not going to attack
the kid yeah you you made the kid and
you brought me into this so it's on you
exactly yeah exactly yeah our our cat
before uh Professor uh Winston
mouskowitz uh our previous cat Dr Millie

(24:58):
Von Kitty pants
um she we had her before kids and then
we brought kids in and she would never
ever ever do anything to the kids the
kids could like WWE drop elbows on her
and stuff and like she wouldn't do that
but then she would like either later on
would either like take a swipe at us or
she would like poop on a blanket or

(25:21):
something like she would she would go
after us and let us know that she was
not thrilled with the previous behavior
that she had been enduring it was
payback is it yeah exactly exactly yeah
I do think that dogs are for like for
Preppers like a dog is a better prepper
companion than that I know that you're a
cat a cat family but like for like I'm

(25:41):
trying to think like in a survival
situation like that I don't know what
the cat's gonna bring to the table the
cats we're gonna bring nothing to the
table Yeah the cat is gonna the
gonna be
potentially an emotional support
cat which I mean it's currently like it
is technically an emotional support cat
uh for some of our family but in reality

(26:03):
like that's what it's gonna do it's not
gonna like hunt for us or be a guard cat
or anything like that yeah it is just
going to make certain members of our
family feel a little bit more relaxed
um yeah and there's a part of me that
would you know the dog aspect from a
preparedness standpoint makes a lot of

(26:23):
sense I am not at all a dog person in
the maintenance or or operation of a dog
uh I don't have any interest in picking
up poop or or any of that you know dogs
that smell they don't get bathed like
that no no no no that that is not that's

(26:45):
too much maintenance for me yeah yeah uh
yeah I'm trying to think of what cats
could bring to the table in in an
emergency and I other than being maybe
if they're well behaved in our
companions but they're they're not going
to protect they're not going to protect
you they're uh they're not going to like
be an alert system uh yeah they're like
a one-time they won't carry anything for

(27:06):
you no no no no no you get like one shot
at like if you were confronted with by
somebody of maybe taking the cat and
throwing the cat yeah at the assailant
and getting some Claws and some teeth or
something happening on the person and
allowing you to run away that's what it
might have to do with the kitten that's
messing with me that's gonna be it's
promised yeah exactly yeah I think that

(27:29):
could be I mean also because with a
kitten yeah one-handed that way and you
go the other way and you know let the
the claws do their work yeah but yeah
there's no there is no prepping
redeeming value aside from potentially a
protein source which I can guarantee you
that no one in my family is going yeah

(27:49):
that'd be tough so yeah that's not gonna
happen if you had to like run for it
like like if there was like a tsunami or
something I think your dogs might follow
you but your cat's gonna be there
where's he going oh
there's no redeeming value but we are
preparing to take the count with us

(28:10):
should we need to because you know why
not yeah and I think the cat but I think
I do think cats are like more of a
survivalist maybe than uh the dog I
think they're they're crafty and I think
like if if they could be on their own a
little bit and probably do decent as
long as they didn't run into a predator
type thing but uh I think I think dogs
are probably better survivalists maybe
uh but dogs are better companions for

(28:33):
Preppers in an emergency yes
um Amy's point you could use the
biological warfare if they're allergic
yeah
fun story because like if if we could
get if I couldn't get any more less of a
prepper as a prepper person like this
would be but of course our cat had to be
hypoallergenic because we have cat

(28:53):
allergies in our family so we're gonna
go find a special breed of cat that is
very low allergen and all of this other
stuff so like people who have like
asthma and come to our house if they're
allergic to cats can come to our house
and hang out and the cat doesn't even
make their eyes water
um so they're even it's even less of a
of a prepping you know weapon thing than

(29:15):
it would be normally like we've got
maybe Claws and that's about it yeah but
I like the idea of the allergy thing
that is a clever cut right that's these
are the things that uh I never thought
about that before but yeah that's a good
good point so
um cats will be tough too like because
if your cats are literature litter box
trained like do you really want to carry
around Litter with you so they'd have to
get used to dirt but maybe they don't

(29:36):
like dirt I don't know exactly and then
they would have problems
um or you've got to have a litter but
you gotta have one that's big enough so
you gotta have like it's got to be
collapsible or something yeah
collapsible yeah yeah that's a yeah we
really should just rethink this whole
cat thing these are problems yeah yeah
because our dogs are are their potty
they go in a potty uh potty pads

(29:57):
so that's that's more that's more bug
out bag friendly though potty oh yeah
sure if we're small enough now if you
have a huge dog you're you don't want to
deal with that yeah okay Cat uses puppy
pads so now we need to train the cat to
use puppy pants yeah that uh I'm curious
what which puppy pads you use Amy fresh
because we use the Costco ones and I
during my testing those ones have been

(30:17):
pretty good for us so also did you did
you train your cat to use puppy pads as
a kitten so it's been their entire life
or they cross train them yeah no the
cats use a litter box and these we have
a specific glitter that we use but and
then the dogs use the uh the puppy pads
so right but no but but Amy is saying
her Cat uses puppy pants oh yeah yeah

(30:39):
I would love to teach the cats how to do
that use the regular toilets because
I've seen other people do that and it's
uh it seems that's the way to go yeah it
does it does seem like that is
beneficial I also though think it would
be a little disconcerting if you came
downstairs like in the middle of the
night or you're going in to use the
bathroom in the middle of the night and
then there's a cat that is also using
the bathroom at the same time that could

(31:01):
be that could be upset yeah I think I
always think of that when the Ben
Stiller movie with uh Robert De Niro the
uh Meet the Parents oh look at the cat
that's it he's the toilet there can you
milk me
um yeah
you could throw the letter at an
intruder that is true okay we have found
value for the cats now but I don't know

(31:21):
there's other I know other people have
well fish I think fish you're they're
done like in a again I'm thinking of
evacuation stuff but they're not good
prepper animals I don't think they're
unless unless it's like you have like
your hydroponic system and that's your
fish that you have and you're gonna eat
them yeah yeah I don't yeah
sure problematic
Birds probably aren't good prepper

(31:44):
unless you have like some I don't yeah
I'm trying to think of like a pirate
like a pirate
exactly yeah use it like a like a voice
like a recorder like for things that
like voice notes if your phone doesn't
work you could be like Polly wanna
bearing do East or something and then
you know they can remember it for you I
think yeah maybe if it was like a if you

(32:06):
had a raven like a Game of Thrones Raven
you could use it for Collins purposes
yeah like well Game of Thrones they were
using Ravens for that that's that was
their comms that they had and they seem
to get you know they could send a
message to any of the Seven Kingdoms so
maybe having a raven or pigeons might be
good
yeah yeah exactly yeah you could do it
be a pigeon you could be the The Cobbs

(32:27):
person of the neighborhood with your
pigeons
[Laughter]
I know he's a like an expert pigeon
person yeah
yeah so what we need is we need to bring
Mike Tyson on the podcast yeah
he would train his how we could train
our pigeons to be like his pigeons

(32:49):
yeah do you I wonder like if it was if
we were ever in like a
Canadian prepper style doomsday
apocalypse scenario Mad Max scenario
pigeons would come back as like a comms
option for I love that you say Canadian
pepper dude so so Monday Tuesday
there have been three doomsdays today

(33:11):
yeah well you know I I like those kind
of Mad Max like this the I think because
I think that's like the thing that gets
people's uh gets the juices flowing in
the uh I don't know yeah to be popular
with puppy yeah fish don't need to
prepare for a tsunami
well I don't know like uh we have
African cichlids and they need like
really warm temperatures so like if a

(33:32):
tsunami happen to be cold cold water
yeah and be salt water probably so I
think yeah they would be dead fish are
done they're yeah they're not making up
sure there's no way that unless you have
like a a natural salmon or something
yeah
yeah fish are like I I kind of find fish
to be a liability as like because you
have even like in an earthquake because

(33:52):
we're like in the Pacific Northwest and
if an earthquake happens then you're
going to be dealing with power outages
and gas stuff and then you probably have
your fish tanks knock over and fish all
over the place on water like it's it's
like uh yeah it's definitely a liability
for Preppers I think
yeah I was
wondering I was talking about her

(34:15):
Rooter like with chickens so we have our
chickens and and they make some eggs for
us every once in a while
um
I wonder if they could be kind of like a
guard
animal
at least like maybe during the day
um
because everyone's like they'll make
noise depending on what it is like if
there's an animal or something I don't

(34:36):
know that they will make a lot of noise
if it's a person yeah but if it was like
an animal like they're pretty they're
pretty protective that's for sure yeah
so maybe that's a a workaround
sort of an idea
um try to settle is here by the way yes
um good good to see you back I haven't
seen you in a couple weeks it's been a

(34:58):
little bit what's up it's nice that nice
to have you back yeah
um so another thing on the on the the
pet thing so we actually had
um our cat had a vet appointment today
um we had the mobile vet which have you
heard about the mobile vets
no like they come to you yeah they can't
it's like it's like Uber Eats but yes
they had like a band and they came to

(35:19):
the house and they had all the equipment
and they did all of the things in our
living room it was a
um but one of the things that they did
is they gave him his microchip okay um
and so I think that is one of those
things when you're talking about pets
and disasters making sure that you have
a way of identifying them should you be
separated and you could be reunited

(35:40):
um so getting chips making sure that
they have collars
um with names and phone numbers or
something like that so that if people do
find them it is possible that they will
keep them you might never see them again
but if you find people who are nice and
who you know bring them to a shelter or
something having some way of of
reuniting with your pet should you be

(36:00):
separated I think is an important thing
yeah yeah we have ours our our um we're
pro microchip for the animals but not
for humans
[Laughter]

(36:26):
I don't know
I was thinking of like Total Recall
where he has the yeah was it a chip that
was like that big thing that tracker
that he had
remember the two weeks okay so have you
seen so again on ticket what we really
need to do is do a episode of Preppers

(36:47):
on tick tock
that's one thing we should do I think
would be like prepping tick tocks we
were kind of like we we're kind of like
paved the way the the Oregon Trail of
Preppers on Tick Tock because there
wasn't a lot of people like two years
ago the Preppers were but now they're
it's it's like uh yeah they were like oh
China bad and now they're like we don't
care it's a place we can get virality
let's go and make it happen well it is

(37:09):
it is friendlier to like smaller
channels newer channels like if you get
picked I think the algorithm picks it up
a little sometimes a little bit better
than uh uh than YouTube for sure so yeah
I've also heard too that um that some
people say if you have multiple channels
if you put the same
uh video on multiple channels on Tick
Tock that like it will maybe ignore two

(37:32):
of them and then a third one for
whatever reason the same thing they'll
push it in the algorithm into hello nuts
and so I've seen a lot of people that
run like how do you grow your channel
well you open eight channels and you see
which one Tick Tock likes I mean it
works work the system yeah
um
but yeah so I think that I think that
could be an interesting

(37:52):
um
where was I going with this one uh we
were talking about tick tocks we're
talking tick tocks and the prepping tick
tocks and oh have you seen the chip girl
on tick tock
the chip girl uh yeah chip girl so uh
her name I don't know her name she has
an actual name but she goes by chip girl

(38:12):
and then she changes it and sometimes
she goes by we're gonna name her husband
is some sort of a tech entrepreneur
investor guy or whatever she's like a
law school person but they put RFID
chips in their hands
they actually like injected chips into
their hands
um and then they program their entire

(38:34):
house
to utilize these RFID chips and
identification so like all their door
locks all their Windows
um like their home automation and
everything like goes off of the chips
that they put in their hands yeah do you
yeah I mean I don't I don't even like my
phone so I don't know

(38:54):
I have a fair day bags for my phones let
alone you need a fair day glove yeah I
guess
yeah I'd be more Pro like uh you know
thumbprint or like on the movies that
had the retina scanner all those kind of
things but I don't know but
yeah I saw that we had a Facebook
comment we do we have a Facebook and so

(39:15):
we should take it because yeah very
excited we're more of a YouTube uh uh
yeah comment section yeah yeah I mean
for the most part we broadcast
everywhere we're on Twitch we're on
YouTube We're on Twitter we're on
Facebook everything else most different
only fans is picking up too let's go
ahead yeah exactly slow but slowly
Canadian prepper and Wrangler star gotta

(39:37):
start making their own
I can't wait you realize what needs to
happen though is you and I need to do an
only fan first oh man I bet they'll jump
up and kill me
he made a what with talking about sheet
meat here we go okay so

(39:58):
um so what what do you guys think is the
most important skill to have
I feel like that's a really broad
question
uh I I feel like you'd have to like it's
skill by category as yeah as prep yeah I
know what you mean though for yeah
well I think the the most important
skills for me is like uh if you're

(40:19):
talking like pure prep like the the
Mount Rushmore of skills I think are uh
like medical skills uh probably like
tactical self-defense type skills uh
calm skills and then probably like uh
gardening food related type stuff like
having I think if you have one of if you
have like a prepping group and you have

(40:40):
someone that has each one of those
things you probably have a pretty strong
group because you have someone that
could make food someone that could if
you're if you're injured they know how
to do that kind of stuff you have like
the you got Rambo in Theirs to help
protect you and then you have like uh
then you have your way of communicating
with the world person so I I that's
probably pretty good skills I think uh I
like that I would maybe almost

(41:05):
the most important skill because
you're gonna have to figure out all
these other skills and so you need to be
able to know how to go and not only
identify what skills you have weaknesses
in and which ones you don't but like
where to find how to learn about all of
those skills because there really is
like you could put hunting in there you

(41:25):
could put you know construction and
Engineering because you're going to
build shelters yeah I think there's like
specialized yeah like there's different
trades like I I think we talked about it
before that there's a book called
durable trades where he goes through
like the 50 most durable trades through
any kind of you know hardship or any
kind of times and stuff so like even
being a welder might be real beneficial

(41:46):
or being yeah
who knows them what the cut of emergency
is but yeah I think for me like in
general I think the the Mount Rushmore
of uh skills like it looks like they
even put it to food medical security and
comps yeah I agree with that yeah yeah
and t-shirt design yeah and t-shirt
design and then someone else said uh the
ability to abandon the ability to
abandon your pets

(42:10):
yeah exactly that's uh Jamie uh yeah
Jamie uh Peter is calling you right now
in fact uh they're on the other line I
would recommend that you give them a
call
um because they have some things they
want to discuss with you
um RV menager negotiation strategy
communication I would say yes I think

(42:30):
there's also potentially a slight
difference in
prepping Urban scenario yeah versus
prepping rural scenario skills uh
because things like negotiation and
strategy and stuff is going to look
different
in an urban setting where you might have
civil unrest you're going to have uh
more of maybe a mob mentality or things

(42:52):
like that uh versus out in the open
Plains where you're trying to you know
stay alive and and
set boundaries and perimeters and that
sort of stuff yeah
yeah I think the problem with a lot of
those those skill those skilled people
like of the the Mount Rushmore is that
they usually have different you know
personalities that might not mess with

(43:13):
each other like the gardener food person
might not mesh with the Tactical
Commando guy like so uh yeah yeah so
that's a little tough one yeah Steve we
lost our gardener right just calm down
someone said who within your families
has the more favorable demeanor in
emergency situations that's definitely
me my wife is uh we'll drop F bombs and

(43:34):
all sorts of stuff so yeah I would say
I would say emergency
um because because my wife does a really
good job of like staying calm and all
that sort of stuff
um but I also think like if it's a kid
emergency like
in some you know medical thing happened
with the kid or something she is far

(43:54):
less squeamish than okay I am uh oh
you're squeamish okay yeah I don't like
I had to give blood today
um to to do some some tests for my
physical I would supposed to have a
colonoscopy oh earlier this week and so
I was gonna do like a whole thing on
like hey everyone make sure that you get
your screenings done yeah we got that
poop joke in for this live stream yeah

(44:15):
exactly yeah yeah yeah yeah I've got a
lot of poop jokes actually
um but it got rescheduled because I have
a coffin so I didn't want to go under
anesthesia
uh yeah it's not covered but it's a cop
nonetheless
um so but I had to get some blood work
done and so uh I don't I have a very
um rough track record with uh blood

(44:36):
draws
um sometimes they go very well and
sometimes I will redecorate the exam
room
um and so that tends to be a thing so uh
so yeah so I didn't know that yeah
exactly I have I've passed completely
out and thrown up everywhere and yeah it
was a whole the whole thing and then

(44:57):
sometimes I go in and it's not a problem
uh yeah I have a I have a family member
that he's like you know he's a great
Hunter and he's like uh processes
venison that he does and he's yeah real
but if he sees his wife's like blood
like from a shot or something he passes
out he faints like so he's like yeah
it's like he's a real hardcore for all
some things but then for certain people

(45:17):
like for his kids and with uh he can't
do it so it's a yeah it is it is is uh
definitely hit or miss I had that
surgery when I was uh in high school and
it was the first time I was like giving
blood and doing all that stuff and they
did a really good job of like treating
kids nicely and so it was not traumatic
for me and then I had to give

(45:39):
like one final vial for a test and they
sent me to the regular person lab and
they don't do it as nice there they're
just like here you go and jam it in and
and I and I just passed out and threw up
everywhere and so I kind of had this
like some days I go in and I can do it
and it's not a big deal and other days I
go in and I'm like I get light-headed

(46:00):
and I need to like lay down and the
whole thing so yeah I'm pretty good with
uh overall like stress I find like that
I I'm the most focused like uh it I feel
more centered when things are stressful
so yeah so I'm pretty good in those kind
of scenarios
stress I can do stress like that I don't
have a problem with it's the like poking

(46:20):
me or blood and especially like kid
blood uh or kid injuries and stuff like
that
um that I don't do with well and so
luckily my wife smoked in and she can
handle all those things and that's we're
a great team like that yeah
um but yeah let's see what is the

(46:41):
um
let's see I'm just trying to catch up on
the
um great questions number one skill how
to be homeless and survive
I think there was an interesting there
is often an interesting
um correlation or comparison that I
think a lot of Preppers make between

(47:02):
skills that you can observe of people
who are houseless and uh people and in
an emergency situation
um I don't know that if if it's kind of
a number one skill but it's also kind of
like a practice idea there's a lot of
mini skills in there
um so I would say it's a an area of
research to define the skills that you

(47:24):
would want to have maybe yeah yeah but
when I first started on the channel like
one of the First videos I did was like I
was I was doing kind of a deep dive into
like uh homeless types some of the skill
sets for that and sort of like the the
gear that they would have and everything
like that but yeah and now it's it I I
imagine in your area too it's pretty
yeah there's uh

(47:44):
yeah so it's it's pretty uh bad in
general but uh
yeah uh I think there are some some
decent skills with some like uh like the
uh some of the cooking cooking methods
and stuff but uh
it's and so the certain warmth areas and
I think like the overpass you know
having using leveraging concrete and

(48:04):
overpasses for certain shelter type
things like City shelters like it's got
It's like a different strategy compared
to like in a rural environment you're
probably looking for totally different
areas like if you had to plant shelter
somewhere versus in the city and so I
think I'm like like the homeless find
like a good spot that you protected and
all that kind of stuff so yeah we see it
a lot too on uh you know in in the

(48:27):
Portland area it got really bad during
covet and now they're like trying to
clean it up and it's it's a it's an
unfortunate situation because they are
doing a better job of kind of cleaning
all of that up but they're also you know
these are people who are struggling and
you feel for the humanity of the whole
situation but also like it's dangerous
for people to be in the middle of
off-ramps and things like that it's just

(48:49):
not it's not a good balance yeah
um but uh seeing kind of where where
they would set up their camps uh you
know on the side of an embankment in a
hill down you know like there's a lot of
of pieces there that you can kind of
observe and okay that's a really

(49:10):
strategic idea of like how to how to be
in a place that's difficult to find or
be in a difficult place to reach
um I think some of the the materials
that we see being reused
um and the way that they reuse them
um is sometimes really really creative
and so you're like oh that's a great
idea I wouldn't have never thought

(49:33):
um so yeah I think there's I think
there's value in kind of the study of it
from that point I don't want to study it
from the misery component of it uh or
The Misfortune of it
um but I think if there's ideas there
that you can learn and apply to an
emergency situation where you might be
lacking resources as well then I think

(49:53):
it's completely Fair
yep
um Pony girl I feel yeah okay I feel
there's more danger yeah totally
yeah although I don't know bears and
cougars are scary too but I was just
gonna say you know bears are a whole
different thing like bears and and
mountain lions and you know elk and

(50:15):
moose and and that sort of stuff
um but I think depending on also
depending on cities and what you're
doing I think you know there are people
who are going to get desperate and
they're gonna do desperate things yeah
um and I think that goes a little bit to
uh you know where I've talked about you
know you can go gray man and try to
blend in or you can be the Yellow Jacket

(50:37):
Theory and be like overly aggressive to
the point where people way away don't
want to don't want to mess with you they
don't want to even talk to you they'll
go pick somebody else
um because it's not that you want them
to not do anything in that situation
it's just you don't want them to do it
to you
um which I think is is just one of those

(50:57):
tough choices that you have to make yeah
um I think yeah I think I'd be more
worried in the city about I'm more
worried about humans than of bears even
though bears are really freaky yeah
exactly before we sign off okay when is
the next video coming this this month uh
finalizing the the EDC one that'll be
the first one and I'm also working on uh
April Fool's one yeah

(51:19):
and then also a junk drawer update so
yeah this month uh March is with my what
I learned is that people
see to make videos nobody expects me to
do anything anymore they're just like
you 've given up exactly you're not
gonna make anything
um are you still planning on doing
because you had you did the live stream
where you were doing the like video
review and stuff like that are you still

(51:41):
planning on doing those going forward
what am I I it was kind of fun having
like because I don't normally like look
at other channels and like play like
certain videos it was kind of fun it'd
be fun to do it with like your yeah it's
like watching uh videos with your
friends that'd be fun to do more of so I
I uh the next couple weeks are kind of a
little bit crazy because I have
different evening events and I'm going

(52:02):
on a going to Mount Rainier I'm going to
be the camp The Chaperone for this uh my
son's uh class and I have a cabin that
I'm going to be running so it should be
fun so it's gonna be a busy uh busy
couple weeks I'll have to let you on the
schedule because on I think the last
week uh actually yeah I need to we need
I need to have my people sync with your
people for scheduling stuff because I'm

(52:24):
going to be at Mount Rainier for a
little bit and they probably don't have
good streaming uh connectivity yeah it's
not the best to stream from a mountain I
would I would recommend against that
yeah
um and you know we can figure it out
I'll fly pigeons to you and I'll let you
know what
exactly have your pigeons and Mike
Tyson's pigeons connect

(52:45):
um something to look forward to
um it's the treatment I put anything the
bar is so low it is so low for me did
you do anything yep I did oh thank you
good for you good for you Casey we're so
glad
man is the ultimate Predator yeah I'm
more worried about uh yeah man is the

(53:06):
scary one oh bears are scary the ones
I'm freaked out about is those freaking
orcas something
there's like they're
psychotic killers of like and they're so
smart too that's uh
I'm scared of them yeah there was
another tick tock serious it was like
reals and I think it came from Tick Tock
or something that was focusing on like

(53:28):
how psychotic orcas are yeah they're
they're evil they're like uh exactly
they're the serial killers of the sea he
had so many Fantastic names nicknames
for them and I wish I could remember
them all it was like death Oreo and like
all kinds of things I was like this is
amazing but I saw that they they kill

(53:49):
like great white sharks and eat their
liver and that's it and just leave it
after yes yes or they'll like beat up
like rays and seals yeah
yeah they they'll flip the seal like 80
feet in the air just to watch out and do
it and have a laugh with their friends
about it and yeah exactly or they make
they make like the the wave together

(54:10):
where they see oh there's a seal there
let's all go underneath it at the same
time and make them break it up and oh
yeah
that's crazy yeah they are they are
menacing they are yeah someone said
orcas are the humans of the Season yeah
they are yeah exactly
um
let's see yeah Mount Rainier is not

(54:31):
famous for its Wi-Fi yeah yeah
I would say definitely not a thing
um
yeah let's see if there's any other
comments that we were missing I know
there's been a lot of yeah it's been a
pretty nice and active yeah I think this
was I think we I think we did a good job
yeah we did I think we I think we nailed

(54:51):
it
um it was we we went almost the whole
hour like yeah well I I canceled the the
piano lesson for this evening so that's
left out for it priorities yeah so but
but again I'll have my people sync with
your people on this okay scheduling
stuff so all right we'll do that and
that's next week right uh I'm going to
let's see I uh

(55:20):
I'm your people send your pigeon to me
with with the approximate dates or
whatever we'll figure that out
um
okay don't make Orca AI yeah
yeah
man they're freaky like it makes me not
want to go out to the Puget sound like
uh even having fun there because there

(55:42):
everyone always oh they've never
attacked a human in the wild or whatever
that we know of
you know but when they do it's it's
going to be like it's that once they
realize that we're tasty uh
they just batted Timmy around for five
hours so Timmy didn't make it home but
we don't know what happened to me and
there was one orca like the one that
they kept moving from different aquarium

(56:04):
to aquarium he like he's like
responsible for a lot of like the human
deaths I think in captivity but yeah
all the all those they should they
shouldn't be in there yeah that's a
whole different thing I thought her Finn
all gets all like cassad and everything
too yeah and they're like in isolation
and like yeah I would if I was I'd
probably take it out on some anything I

(56:24):
could find I would take my aggression
out on that's for sure
um yeah Blackfish Blackfish yeah that's
it yeah yeah
um yeah that's just I'm glad that like
we are moving as a society away from
yeah
just not a good thing yeah they should
have got rid of they should have got rid
of them completely after what was that

(56:44):
one movie where the Free Willy Free
Willy if you really should have that
should have been the end of it because
exactly they should have just all gone
up over the the rock wall thing spoiler
alert
um you know like Willie did but
all right everybody well I think we did
pretty good I think it was fantastic we
did uh a great job we even kept on topic

(57:06):
for the most part we talked about
animals really did we're getting better
at this we're kind of uh I'm gonna pop
my collar a little bit we did exactly 51
episodes in and we sound a little bit
more almost like a podcast my eyes
hurting though for this light it's just
killing me it's
oh
but you sound great so thank you yeah
the new USB cable yeah all right so

(57:27):

new episodes now every day uh for the
next several weeks uh getting the
backlog out
um I think we're I think episode 14 or
15 came out today
um and then I have all the way to 50 law
uh loaded in so there will be 51 will go
in and that'll be like mid April which

(58:10):
come out
um but go ahead and uh leave us a five
star review over there yeah that would
be super helpful for letting people know
that we actually have a podcast as well
as the live stream uh be mindful of
Tufts videos that are coming out at some
point in the next month
um and my new mystery live stream which
will happen one of these days uh

(58:31):
