(00:43):
foreign I feel like it's the Timbers
game like last night we just had like a
weather delay for like a very long time
but we are here we have made it
we gave it a valiant effort for a five
o'clock start but technical difficulties
happened you know thank you
thank you at five o'clock because if we
would have started at 5 30 we would have

(01:03):
been working on this until three in the
morning
um but welcome to episode 61 of prep
talk live I'm Casey with Cascadia
dispatch joining me remotely as always
is tuck the herb and prepper what is
going on top how are things yeah this is
how are you doing
uh one one eight hundred call call Top
uh tech support for for prepping

(01:25):
Services I have my telemarketer uh
headset on but yeah if it's how you've
come to let us all know that we have
something to do with our cars warranty
yes yes
I'd like to talk to you about your
extended warranty program
that's fantastic
I'm doing good though how how are you

(01:45):
enjoying uh how was your how was your
fourth of July uh the Fourth of July was
wonderful thank you for asking I'd love
to tell you
um it was great I actually I was gonna
take a picture because I got one of
those uh like America tuxedo T-shirts
it's like the red white and blue and I
think you have one that looks kind of
similar I think you've I think there are

(02:06):
some pictures so I was gonna take a
picture and send it to you uh but we
were just not in in spots where I was
thinking about the photo and it made
sense to take a photo at any point
during yesterday so I almost uh I almost
wore it on the on the uh it's been
pretty festive but I feel like then we
would have been really close to like 95
awesome and I feel like I feel like that

(02:29):
would have been too much I feel like we
really just like I got the lighting
pretty well good tonight and so I feel
like that was kind of the upgrade and if
I would have done the shirt too it would
have been too much and yeah you don't
want to go you can't go full yeah full
awesomeness you have to cut yeah
exactly it would have been it would have
been a thing how about you how was your
fourth of July that's good uh we we had

(02:52):
a had a festive outfit every year I wear
a festive outfit I get to bust out one
of my mullets and I wear the mullet with
uh and uh yeah I know we just had a
yesterday we did a barbecue and we did a
uh
you know barbecue and some adult
beverages and I was just hanging out
with family and friends and then the day
before we did like uh went to a

(03:12):
fireworks show and that was that was
pretty fun for sure so
okay so I have a couple questions about
Fourth of July things yes so so
on on Fourth of July is do you feel like
when it comes to fireworks and I don't
know I I know Washington has different
laws Oregon like most of of Portland and
the surrounding suburbs actually have
outlawed fireworks of any kind our city

(03:35):
actually is like the only one that
allows some fireworks but like all of
Oregon Outlaws anything that goes like
above six feet or something unless you
have a permit and everything else
um but I've often thought like sprinkler
not sprinklers sparklers and some of
those sorts of things of of kind of
getting extras
in case like already for like signaling

(03:56):
purposes or something like that um it
kind of
kind of layers
um
the more so like you can use the
sparklers over time so they don't just
kind of rot so it's kind of like a
prepper Pantry plan but like with
sparklers and smoke uh like the smoke
um

(04:17):
I don't want to say the b word because I
don't want to get us demonetized but
like the smoke Setter offers yeah and
and some of those sorts of things that
like those could be interesting
signaling devices what do you think well
uh that's I think it's a pretty good
idea I don't uh it's we kind of have
similar laws here but I don't think
people follow them at all they just yes

(04:38):
everyone just pulls all out uh so uh
they had uh yes there's fireworks going
off all over the place we don't actually
buy them ourselves we we just watch the
big shows and we let other people buy
them and uh but yeah yeah I think it's a
good idea I have the Marine flares like
for like the safety uh like life for
Life boats and for for marine uh signal

(05:00):
flares just because I feel like they're
probably I could trust them a little bit
more but yeah but I think it's I think
it's a good idea though uh I'm trying to
think which one would be like like some
kind of Roman Candle type thing would be
kind of cool if you could shoot those
out but yeah like I mean like a Roman
Candle thing I think would be good Roman
candles are outlaw

(05:22):
well no because they shoot more than six
feet so like they're probably allowed in
a lot of places they're just not allowed
in Oregon I would like to tell that to
the family that as we were pulling in to
our neighborhood last night shot four
Roman candles actually at our car as we
were driving by
um I had some different things that I
was gonna say but the kids were in the
car and you know it was like

(05:44):
um but yeah I like I feel like Roman
candles would be good I feel like
um like some of the ones that are like
the fountains that you know yeah marks
up in the air like if you could get it
like on a I mean you don't want to put
it on a roof because you don't want to
burn the roof down like the house down
the structure now but like some way of
of using them I've always thought that

(06:05):
like okay that could be an interesting I
think it's it's yeah it's definitely
interesting like you could do the smoke
things
go full on Batman style for that exactly
exactly uh you could do it for like a
signal flare type thing which is uh
bright lights or if you have the Roman
camp we used to get a Roman Candle
fights I remember that's back in the day
when we were kids but uh

(06:28):
uh I remember when when we were growing
up uh if you were driving around around
the 4th of July and you had your windows
down other Punk kids with like teenagers
would throw would light a little little
explosive one and Chuck it out and Chuck
it in your car window and scare you like
that it sounds like you grew up in a
rough neighborhood it's kind of rough

(06:49):
that's how I had that's why that's what
created the edge that's why I looked so
rough and have this Edge on about me
with on the yeah exactly uh yeah but
yeah I think it's I'd have to think
about that a little bit more I just
don't know like on like if your life
depended on it could I rely on it I I
would probably choose one of the Marine
things still just because of that yeah
because they have to meet a certain

(07:10):
standard of it and by the way we do have
Amy fresh is here in the in the chat
room so oh yeah we have Amy freshman
coming first we have Chuck we have we
have a whole I like how they chocolate
they just talk with or without us
yeah we're just kind of eye candy now

(07:32):
exactly we just created a chat room that
they could talk in and then like if we
should comment and we comment on what
they're talking about yeah exactly
they're like oh they're late again okay
fine yeah they'll let them do that
anyway we're talking about other things
um yeah because I was thinking the smoke
thing would also be an interesting one
uh especially like at night if you're

(07:52):
trying to create like some diversions or
something and like the the Piccolo
Pete's I think is what they're called or
whatever super high
yes yes
um do they just make this super high
pitched sound that's a good idea that
like I don't know that you could
replicate with a whistle like I feel
like it's probably louder

(08:13):
maybe I just have dainty sensitive ears
but um but it feels like that is yeah I
think I think these are all good ideas
uh and I of course Fourth of July you
wanna normally we try to wet our grass
before because uh
uh
you need a toothpick for the candy do I
have something on my teeth

(08:33):
yeah movie Girl Is providing all kinds
of like it's like the off stage like
like wipe your wipe your faces boys pick
for the for the eye candy
well I mean yeah exactly it's probably
that your eye candy and that's that's

(08:54):
what we're going it's like kind of like
the Razor Ramon look yeah exactly
exactly yeah yeah so I think I think
Pony girl's always been a big Razor
Ramon fan so yeah yeah Chuck also is an
agreement that they have their own show
yeah I mean I saw all sorts of fires
like when I was driving to work today
all these like burnt uh areas of the
grass and stuff because it's all dry

(09:14):
everyone's shooting fireworks off and
and most people probably don't have
their their their their fire preps ready
to go like we do so yeah exactly I don't
have their fire extinguishers they don't
have the hoses
um I saw a thing I think it was on Shark
Tank the other day that I was like this
is super cool but we don't have a pool
so like it wouldn't work for us but like
I love the idea and it was a fire hose

(09:36):
that you attached to a pool pump and it
was for people in Wildfire areas
specifically like California but it
would work anywhere and the idea was you
attach it to
um to your pool pump and then it takes
the water out of your pool and uses it
to either wet down your entire house or

(09:57):
fight some sort of a uh uh Wildfire sort
of a situation
um and utilize all of that water with uh
the force that your pool pump would have
as opposed to like if you just had like
a garden hose
that's a good idea yeah I didn't I saw a
video it was I think it was on Tick Tock
or something where I didn't know that it
like emergency responders when there's a

(10:19):
wildfire they could technically steal
your pool water and use it they could
grapple down and grab your pool water
and bring it to the fire did you know I
maybe I'm just fine I did not yeah but
the the because there's like it's legal
for them to do that but then they have
to replenish it so they have to bring
back the water when it's all said and
done type thing it's just like the mud

(10:40):
from wherever they drop the water it's
like here's the dirt and your water is
in it and there you go back enjoy that
yeah I was watching a speaking of Shark
Tank I was watching Shark Tank last
night with the fam and there was this uh
someone had this invention for a pool it
was called a pickup pool so they had
like a a liner for the pickup of your
truck oh that you make you could have a

(11:00):
little kiddie pool kind of like that's
lined in your truck and then I'm as a
prepper I'm immediately thinking oh
that's kind of like those uh the Water
Bob or the the things that you put in
your uh in your bathtubs man you you go
go full on you know water Bob for your
pickup truck if you have a pickup truck
I'm not sure how big the market is for
that so well and I mean if you think

(11:20):
about it you could put a water Bob sort
of whatever that is in the back of your
truck yeah and if you have probably have
six of them back there yeah if you had a
canopy or a rack or something then okay
you could as you're leaving you could
have an entire essentially bed of your
pickup truck full of water and then a
platform and still have whatever gear

(11:42):
and everything on top of that you
wouldn't need to worry about Aqua
tainers or five gallon jugs or any of
that sort of thing yeah I thought I
thought it was kind of cool because I
don't know if you're supposed to drive
with the pickup tub in your back but if
you could if it supported the way I
guess you technically could transport it
to different spots if we needed some
water so yeah I'd be a little worried
about the sloshing effect

(12:03):
just with the with the weight and like
trying to make turns that's true it's
open yeah yeah
um I mean even if it's not open but if
it's if it's covered but if there's a
gap so the water has room to to shift if
it's not like totally full
um I think that could be every time we I
think Preppers look at different things

(12:24):
or watch the we're looking with that
prepper lens and seeing how it could be
used for some kind of preparedness
thing's big in case it really goes with
this idea and runs like aren't we
a lot of brainstorming that happens
exactly this is kind of the prep or
Think Tank what we really like to do is
just join your all's chat and then
brainstorm in the middle of it you get

(12:46):
all these ideas from Chuck and from
exactly it's just a fantastic it's a
fantastic uh scene and setting to really
Inspire us with new ideas to then take
away and go do other things it's spray
foam for Wildfire protection a real
thing uh I don't know I've never heard
of that I know some people I know the
people that are in Wildfire territory

(13:07):
the country they they have like
sprinklers on their roof and they use
they do some protections like that I
don't know about spray foam though I
guess I would wonder like are you taking
like insulation foam or are you talking
about like because there is firefighting
foam for like if you're like if a plane
is gonna hit on a Runway or something
and they're trying to foam the runway to

(13:27):
make it so there's no Flame or that sort
of thing I've heard of that
um
I think they use it in some buildings
like if they're trying to do certain
things
um but I don't know if it would be like
if that's what you're talking about Amy
or if you're talking about uh like the
spray foam insulation sort of stuff yeah
just with the little the little red

(13:48):
straw that comes with the spray foam
insulation
that's a long time
um so she's talking about firefighting
film a firefighting film that you was
yeah I'd be curious to check check it
out that'd be a fun that'd be a fun
video yeah what's the one uh stuff that
Mr Beast uses a like uh oh but uh

(14:11):
elephant snot or something like that
devil foam or or elephant foam is that
yeah it's it's uh something like that
Dragon foam or something it's
uh yeah it's there's a there is a name
for it my son like watching uh likes
watching all those videos and I can't
stand them yes

(14:34):
like how many times can we watch you
pour chemicals together and explode them
out in rainbow colors well I don't know
I find a lot of it's just like just
pumping money away for entertainment
like
I don't like it yeah I don't like the
love cup not all of us have the millions
of followers that you have we're just
all trying to get some eyeballs and if

(14:55):
it requires foam or Legos we do what we
can yeah you know Mr B started a whole
Burger chain just trying to get a few
more followers than something that's
what really is happening
what's going on
um so another thing that came out today
that I was thinking about that would be
interesting to chat about is the new uh

(15:18):
threads
uh it apparently just came out today
um it's the new it's Facebook's answer
to Twitter but they're gonna like uh run
it through Instagram
and it's gonna connect to other
uh chat programs like Mastodon and a

(15:42):
couple of others so whereas like Twitter
has always been like Twitter I guess the
idea for this one is that you could be
on other networks and connect your
account some way and feed information in
and and do that sort of thing I know
very little I heard about it like an
hour and a half ago and I have
downloaded it and connected my account

(16:04):
and that's about it uh I don't know
anything about it I'm gonna I'm gonna
look at look at look it up while we're
talking so it looks remarkably like
truth social okay um as far as like the
layout when you're making a post looks
almost identical to so it's like a
multi-broadcast a multiple chat kind of
yeah but it's but it's a text only okay

(16:26):
um or it's Tech based and it utilizes
your existing
um
all of your existing Facebook and
Instagram profile information so you can
either have a brand new account or you
can just basically like add this feature
to your
um to your existing stuff and I know
that there's a lot of people that don't

(16:47):
enjoy social media and don't enjoy the
data and all I get that it's fine
um but it was interesting too it's like
slacked in yeah it's interesting to me
that it just came out and it's kind of
like okay as
Twitter is doing its own thing and
there's been kind of this interesting
mix of like

(17:07):
true social and Mastodon and there's sky
blue that's supposed to happen at some
point like there's all these people that
are trying to compete with
Twitter
um
if this is something that you know that
it's worth I think it's worth at least
I'm gonna have to look into it I I
learned stuff I always learn something
new whenever we talk and so I do what I

(17:28):
can for you yeah you do uh and I I'll
I'll take I'll do my I'll do my research
and then get back okay yeah I'm
interested too because I feel like
Twitter
Twitter is just kind of an interesting
like
uh like I get some information from it
but I don't like I follow a lot of
people but it only seems like I see like

(17:49):
information from like 10 or 20 of them
at any given time
um and I don't obviously because people
are inactive on it or because of the way
that the new Twitter algorithm is
working
um but I'm interested to see if this is
a different algorithm some way or yeah
more people involved yeah yeah kind of
sometimes I miss the old school days

(18:10):
where it is just sequential like you
yeah it wasn't curated like as soon as
someone posted that's that's what you
got and you said you subscribe to them
that was like the old school uh way of
doing it yeah I do Twitter for like a
lot of news stuff like if I want to
catch like figure out what the latest
that people are talking about the one
that my wife really the one it's awesome
from what if I don't have it but it's

(18:30):
what it's called the citizens app I
think where she gets latest and greatest
news like local news so like if
something's happening probably it's
called the citizens app and she goes
there Rich you'll find out like like
local specific stuff hey what's going on
over here on this street at these
apartments or something oh yeah the
citizens are all posted on there it's uh

(18:52):
she gets uh she's almost uh she's like
the Oracle for some of those that type
of information she seems to know quicker
than what I could get from uh from
Twitter or from any website too that is
that is really interesting is it kind of
like do you guys have next door
we have next door too but it's okay it's
I guess it's similar to that but uh it's
it's for like eight there's some there's

(19:13):
a fire going or the heads up there's a
shooting that happened or so all sorts
of like stuff like usually bad stuff
that's what they yeah post [ __ ] so that
is really interesting okay so I'm gonna
try I'm gonna check out I probably have
to install that now so yeah yeah now
we're all just installing everything uh
which is just great
um because I feel like
again like I am I am aware that like my

(19:37):
data is being captured places and stored
places and all that sort of stuff that's
one thing I don't add one that you're
talking about because that's a Facebook
one I don't trust yeah
um I am not personally like afraid
though that like Facebook is gonna do
something like with my stuff like I just
don't know what they're gonna do with it
um it's a citizen okay

(19:57):
um but I feel like there is some
advantage in with Facebook Twitter
citizen next door or something just like
from uh just security like what's
happening like understanding like what's
going on in your neighborhood what's
going around in the surrounding areas
and that sort of stuff uh like
reconnaissance sort of information about
your area

(20:18):
um I feel like there is some value in
that it's cool yeah check out the
citizen app and I'll check that out as
well also check out the Facebook one
we'll we'll check in with each other
again uh and I feel like that's great do
some research uh yeah and I kind of feel
like uh if the internet was down it'd be
kind of cool if they're if they one of
these apps like was allowed for like

(20:38):
some kind of Mesh networking so you
could network with the area that way it
would be so for us Preppers who are
always thinking about down scenarios all
right so if only we knew some technical
architecture people who could put
together an app that could do that
and that has time yeah exactly

(21:01):
oh yeah I actually have I have a friend
who runs a uh an agency and uh they
developed a lot of apps and all kinds of
other stuff
um and he
um gets interns from certain like coding
schools and stuff around the area and
trains them on on client work and that
sort of stuff and so
um he's always said you know hey if you

(21:22):
guys come up with interesting projects
or something
um that you know would be like a real
world thing like we should talk about
maybe doing something like that so yeah
maybe yeah I know app development
there's a lot of work involved so uh
yeah yeah it's uh although I did my
other in a previous life I did actually
make an app uh kind of like it was like

(21:45):
an adobe uh
like Adobe had a plug-in for their kind
of website architecture stuff and it
made you like you could just like hit a
button and it kind of created an App for
you like cool instantly which was very
cool but anyway it has nothing to do
with prepping uh has everything to do
was just a fun thing

(22:05):
um all right so where were we mesh
networks we're talking about mesh
networks we're talking about fireworks
I'm like social yeah interaction news
type stuff uh we talk about my wife has
has a good beat on what's going on and
locally
I just love the pause there it was like
we're talking about mesh networks or
talking about my wife

(22:27):
editor beat on Earth okay yeah right
we've got to go all over the place we
have we brainstorm we have come up with
ideas and they always require time and
effort thank you thank you so they never
happen which is a thing
um
I'm gonna go down and when I see

(22:48):
Portland then I'll go exactly I'm gonna
wave and I mean we're like yeah we'll
send off your your uh Roman candles
we'll be shooting off we'll make we'll
make signs and hold them on the overpass
yes you know run Tough Run sort of a
thing
excuse me

(23:09):
um we I I believe Bernie and I we both
set in our referral application so yeah
you guys should be able to to come into
the state not a problem yeah I always
get worried if I don't go through the
get put the TPS yeah
you have to get in there it's not a good
it's not a good situation there's a good
man there's a few some good restaurants
I like going down there's uh

(23:33):
yeah you let me know yeah what's going
on uh then you're gonna be up in town
yeah so we're gonna finally get some
updated photo we'll do like a photo
shoot and stuff and we should do we'll
do like a whole photo shoot all right
we're gonna have to make a whole list
it's gonna be a great thing I'm not
cutting out your date night for with
your wife and everything so yeah exactly
exactly I think yeah she heard the

(23:55):
stuffed pork chop and she was all about
it so I was like that's Romeo
all right Amy has an actual question oh
she's prepping yeah
yeah
Amy we're so glad that you made it to
the podcast this is fantastic so Garden
updates top do you want to go first

(24:15):
uh well my wife has taken over the
garden operation uh at the home base and
she the whole like our whole patio is
just filled with with plants and bushes
she tells me not to touch them and
basically I just move stuff for her now
uh she the other day I was making a
pasta and I had required basil and I was
trying to find basil at the Whole Foods

(24:37):
and different places and it was like
they saw like those live basil plants
and they're super expensive so that's
what I bought she's like why'd you do
that I have like so then she showed me
her all her basil leaves she had just
tons of them and I can't believe I spent
money on it at the store
we're basil Rich right now so she has
like the whole Back Forty yes of the

(24:57):
tough compound is awesome it's great
yeah it was it was crazy uh she's uh her
peppers are going well those are growing
the the potatoes are we don't do
anything with the potatoes we totally
neglect and we don't we don't feed them
we don't take care of them and they keep
growing so I'm starting to like that but
they are still tiny potatoes all right
you want potatoes still are your
children I feel like we really need to

(25:18):
specify this because if someone comes in
here that would just be bad I have no
idea why she's growing Carolina Reapers
because we couldn't eat the last Peppers
that she had but now she she wants to go
full on you know for defense they're
defensive pepper first yeah yeah I told
him she should start making like a
pepper spray like and she could call it
prepper spray would be kind of cool oh
my goodness that is fantastic

(25:40):
and it's very it's very like Seattle
area like our kids are organic non-GMO
yeah exactly diet spray that's what you
need right there okay that that
someone's gonna make that now and so the
question is you or not yeah so that's
going uh let's see everything's uh is

(26:02):
growing according to plan right now so
we're doing pretty good how about you
excellent uh ours is going all right we
uh we kind of cleaned up all of the
stuff like we've been in this kind of I
think over the last couple of years it's
kind of like a lot of uh projects got
like half done and then we were building

(26:22):
the office and we were doing all that
stuff and we finally had some time to
really kind of get everything cleaned up
and get it like all of the half done
projects down on that first so
um very very good we just got some some
new irrigation lines put in which is
funny because I mean it's not like we
have like a field or anything but like
we had somebody come out and help figure

(26:42):
out the sprinkler system
um I like to automate everything as much
as possible because it gives it the best
chance of survival uh and I feel like
that's important uh but yeah but we've
got the herbs are going really well I'm
trying some different positioning of
plants because
um
because we move things and put the
office up and move the chicken coop and

(27:04):
all this kind of stuff the the planter
bins and everything are in different
spots and some of the sunlight is a
little different so I'm kind of
experimenting with putting tomatoes in
different spots and putting uh basil in
different spots yeah
um I actually saw a thing about basil
repelling a lot of of pests and so

(27:25):
people almost make like a perimeter out
of Basil in their yard
um they just put tons of basil and it
just lines the yard to basically keep
pests from like the airspace of your
yard
um so I kind of considered that I
haven't done it yet but I've considered
it
um I do it with yellow jackets

(27:46):
um because I hate those and they don't
as far as I know serve a purpose so we
have like a like a a wall of yellow
jacket traps all around the house just
to like make sure that they don't come
from the wetlands into our yard
um but we've got the pepper the the
tomato plants are doing really well

(28:06):
um our peppers are doing well I just
planted a bunch of like carrots and
radishes and lettuce they're kind of
like quick growing low-lying Shady crops
um in another area of the yard so we're
gonna see how that goes
so yeah so yeah we uh they're in our
neighborhood we have like people that
they they grow like one primary like we

(28:28):
have the onion guy someone that grow
apples and then we have this old lady
that grows the blackberries and
blueberries and and we're kind of like
the Carolina Reaper
Hazel house I guess
that's like saying like there's somebody
who makes bread and there's someone who
makes Milk and there's someone who makes

(28:49):
water and then there's someone who makes
like rigatoni pasta that's like baked
and all of them you're like wait what
the hell is that it's very fancy
yes uh yeah that's all if someone was
asking about oh the Amy fresh was asking
are we drying and storing the excess
base oh I'm gonna have to talk to Mrs uh
top on that one but she again she kicked

(29:10):
me out of the operation so so I I know
as much as what you do uh Refresh on
that uh and my goal this year is to not
be overly precious with our garden
abundance
um because we don't like I mean it's a
backyard garden we don't have it's not
like we make a ton of stuff
um but I am one of those people that's
always like oh well I'm gonna wait until

(29:31):
there's a little bit more and then we'll
use it for something and then it goes
bad in that time and we don't use it at
all so sometimes I have I have guilt
when I like destroy like I eat this
thing that you grew and like the for
some reason the lettuce I'm a
sympathetic lettuce and Harvard
Harvesters yeah
yeah there's there's something like
lettuce and

(29:52):
um like herbs I always screw up the
herbs
um and let those bolt um
asparagus we actually had asparagus this
year that we could eat and I missed all
of the socks that we could eat so they
have all firmed up and
um that's one of the experiments this
year is the asparagus kind of firmed up
and made like a fence so it's kind of

(30:13):
like a shade for a bunch of the
vegetables that I planted behind them so
I'm kind of saying like if that helps
with kind of the partial shade uh like
cauliflower broccoli some of that sort
of stuff that always tends to not do as
well as I'd like it to if we can
actually make it do better with a little
bit of shade
yeah we're still having some deer

(30:35):
battles like the deer have we egg we
planted some blueberries three years ago
we were told hey by year three you'll
start getting uh it'll start uh
harvesting and that's so and then the
the deer came and just obliterated all
of them so it's like yes so we're gonna
have some venison eventually I think so
yeah
yeah I'll get over the Roman Candle I'll

(30:56):
get those uh that seems reasonable yeah
that seems like a great plan you kill my
blueberries I kill you
oh my God yeah yeah blueberries though
are fantastic we have those everywhere
we we've like replanted probably half of
our yard we took the bushes out and

(31:17):
replaced them with blueberry bushes now
yeah and we get a ton of blueberries
which is fantastic I love blueberries
yeah they're pretty they're pretty
awesome so I was going to say something
else about about vegetable stuff and now
I forgot
yeah uh I'll I'll send another update
when we're going out of town like we
have to hire someone to come and water

(31:38):
every single plant and my wife has like
200 pot potted plants around the place
so it's a it's a big operation for
someone have you considered sinking
hundreds of dollars into uh someone to
just put the sprinkler system together
for you so you don't have to worry about
it so you can spend hundreds of dollars
making a garden that you then eat maybe

(32:00):
a zucchini out of every year yeah
because I think it's a fantastic idea
yeah it's not cheaper to grow your own
food anymore
yeah uh no we we're hiring a
neighborhood a friend in the
neighborhood and she's uh
looks for part-time stuff like that so
yeah
um yeah I think my wife likes watering
it's like they're therapeutic it's like

(32:21):
her yoga when she goes out there and
Waters and takes care of it so she likes
she doesn't want to have like a she has
a ho like a a slow drip system that's
for her roses but all like the vegetable
stuff is all uh that's that's hand
watered oh okay yeah that's that's good
uh Chuck's offering to send us a
blueberry muffins that's very sweet I
appreciate that

(32:42):
um it doesn't look like he is but we
know he's bringing it up because twitch
like there's a thing where like when
people are watching a trip a twitch live
stream they people could order you food
from a place and then they have it
delivered like the ubereats or something
or and then you're eating the food
during the stream but we haven't really
capitalized that but if they did that
for Preppers like well they said

(33:03):
mountain house to us or something
there should be like an Uber Eats for
Preppers like just go to the grocery
store and sending spam yeah
dehydrated uh mac and cheese or
something like MREs come through Uber
Eats here's the deal I feel like if
twitch is doing a thing where you can

(33:23):
like actually send food or whatever and
you are
Niche is to send us a mountain house I
feel like we may have picked the wrong
niche I feel like maybe it's time for us
to go back to playing fortnite or
something and get like some dominoes or
you know something that's just a little
a little more fun and exciting than well
speaking of yellow jackets I keep I

(33:44):
don't know uh on on Tick Tock I keep
seeing these videos so these people like
uh they put gasoline in like a cup and
then they put the cup on like the yellow
jacket and that's when it's on the roof
yeah they stick it up there and so there
and then the yellow jackets Come flying
out and then they land on the gasoline
then they're they're gone and uh they

(34:06):
all do it and then the EEG swipes them
out okay I saw a guy with a cup on the
ceiling doing something the other day I
couldn't tell what he was doing that's
what he's doing it's gasoline inside of
a cup and then three Yellow Jackets wow
um I you know for normally I would say
it's mean but those yellow jackets are
yeah
they are just they have no purpose

(34:28):
they're just they're grumpy they're
angry they get in my food they get in
our space I don't like them
um yeah they bother the lovely little
honeybees and all of our Mason bees and
everything so yeah I'm I'm fine with
them being yeah yeah
um yeah that's a I did not realize
gasoline there's a part of me that just

(34:49):
in like there's a cup with gasoline like
there's still just only a little bit of
plastic protecting my hand from from an
entire nest of yellow jackets yeah I'm
wondering if like if that's mad Yellow
Jacket can you do something different I
don't know but they they seem to die
instantly I feel like what I would want
is one of those like you know the the
Gatorade tubs like a Super Bowl and

(35:12):
stuff where they like dump the Gatorade
on the coaches the Big Orange coolant
yeah I feel like I would want maybe that
with a perfect seal like you can't have
any crack in it because then they're
going to get out of there at you so yeah
that's a problem
um yeah the whole thing makes me that's
yeah we have a b guy and we call the bee
guy and the bee guy comes out and he

(35:32):
deals with a lot of RV problems
um because I don't like these it's not a
thing for me I've also seen it where
they do like the uh they have like a
flame thrower
the Yellow Jacket NASA they're coming
out in the big flame gets into and again
I don't feel sorry for him yeah you
watch a very different version of tick

(35:54):
tock my Tick Tock algorithm is just it's
fine-tuned to like it really is
um I yeah I got the Yellow Jacket spray
that shoots like 20 feet yeah
um I get worried on that one for sure no
it works real well
I'm worried I'm gonna miss or something
they'll come after me and they're mad at
me and oh yeah you just drown them

(36:15):
they're like they're uh it's kind of
like an instant sort of a thing but like
I also did it like
like peeking out of our like sliding
door and I would like to clean out shoot
it
and then like jump back in and like wait
and just see what happened uh you're
you're a camper you're yeah exactly no

(36:36):
coward it's coward is your video games
we call it yeah yeah no no absolutely
sniping up from a distance yeah yeah we
would always do it at night too that
we'd wait for like midnight and then
we'd get a configure their sleeping
I was sleeping Yellow Jackets sleep or
they just plot they're like okay
tomorrow we're going after Casey here

(36:59):
my wife and she has her uh her Mason
bees so she's been she's very pro-being
and she likes the honeybees and the Mesa
bees and all of them those Mason bees
have kind of like sad lives they like
they they live to make yeah well they
well not even a pot they they have to
pollinate to get like they make uh their
little cocoon things in these holes then

(37:21):
they die and then like their their
future every all of them are dead except
for like these little cocoons and then
they hatch you know down in the next
spring and that's that's their whole
mission purpose in life is that and I
think it's mainly the the guys are just
hooking up with the girls and then they
die and then the girls do hold on the
girl bees they do all the work set it
all up get and then they die and then

(37:42):
it's just the kids are on their own
until next year and then they come out
and then when they come out they're
full-grown adults and then they just
repeats the cycle so exactly it is a
very sad
yeah yeah we have we have Mason bees and
then we also have the leaf cutter bees
which are like tiny versions of the
Masons
um so yeah I've I'm I'm feeling the

(38:03):
empathy with your wife on all of the the
pollinators and the the stuff do you
guys do the leaf cutter bees too or do
you just yeah we do yeah we do leaf
Cutters too she she's yeah she's real
Pro B but uh
she's special orders these uh B I forget
what they're called but it looks like
seeds or something but they're they come

(38:23):
in these tubes that we get in the mail
and I always love pulling pranks on our
work
when I know that she's like hey I'm
getting a border that's coming in the
mail like let me know when it comes to
all I'll sneak in there and I'll uh like
I'll put my like a phone in there and
I'll get a B out like I'll get a YouTube
video that plays B sounds and so she I I
put it in there so she opens it up and

(38:46):
it sounds like bees and then she goes
screaming yeah it's pretty fun I
on the couch yeah I was like I feel like
it is that we don't have any time to do
any of our good ideas
um because we're trying to prank your
wife and yeah and that's the whole thing
yeah
um
yeah the B tubes are are an interesting

(39:08):
like when you get the cocoons and you
have to yeah and should we keep them in
the refrigerator like it's like next to
like the pickles and ketchup and then
there's a b tube in there
you don't want to put that seasoning on
anything that's just that's a different
sort of a thing
oh my goodness all right long extra

(39:30):
loans extra long stingers you know The
Learning Channel yeah
um yeah Yellow Jackets they may have
extra long ones the Mason bees and the
yellow and the leaf cutter bees
um actually I don't think have like any
Stinger at all like they are like little
happy go lucky be together
yeah what what how whatever happened to

(39:53):
those big humongous bees that are like
from uh oh the murder Hornets yeah
murder Hornets yeah those are a whole
different thing I don't know they they
were in Washington I think maybe they
they were like hanging out in some tree
out by Washington State University or
whatever for a while everyone was
talking about them and I haven't heard
my I've never seen one and uh I've not

(40:15):
wanted to see one they're murder hornets
and I it's kind of a rough name for them
I mean yeah I'm starting off like on the
wrong foot with me yeah yeah no they're
awful they're yeah they're just bad
um I was watching one where they were
like they found a nest in a tree and
they basically like Saran wrapped the
entire tree and then they cut the tree

(40:39):
down to make sure that they had captured
all of the bees in the tree and then
they took it and then I don't know what
they did either they they fumigated the
tree or whatever they did to get all the
Hornets but yeah um yeah and one of the
ones another Tick-Tock one that uh those
freaking the the praying mantis they
catch those murder Hornets I don't know

(41:00):
if you've ever seen them those pray
mantises are nasty
praying mantises will kill a murderer
and I don't feel bad for those guys
because they're those are mean bees too
but yeah the man if there was like a a a
praying mantis that was like uh giraffe
size it would just destroy it would take

(41:22):
over the world because those things are
so strong
oh yeah I love the um have you seen the
ones with the with the the bees like the
honeybees in uh Asia where the the towns
it and then they flip the wings and they
open it they cook it yeah oh God they're

(41:42):
just they're Savage those bees so yeah
nature is just unforgiving it just
sounds exactly you know what you know
why it's because I think the bees don't
have air conditioning I feel like if
bees had air conditioning wouldn't be so
angry I mean it's like 98 degrees
outside right now it's super hot if I
was a bi would be irritated

(42:04):
yeah I feel I feel rip to all the bees
that have you know been working all
spring and summer to just uh for the
next generation and hopefully they're
the next gen's better off than the
previous one and yeah they do a good job
Stephanie Pony girl has baby mantises
man
good thing yeah just an army of them

(42:24):
there are some 10-foot baby mantises
we've been big trouble that's people
should prep for that I think yeah I
think you'd be done because they're
they're so strong murder hornets have
Scouts that warned the enemy to back off
before attack wow
so I have questions because I thought at

(42:45):
first it was a scent and I was like oh
that's really interesting that like
people that other animals would know
what that scent was so like they send
out like
like other murder Hornets to like let
other people like but there were still
murder Hornets like it's not like I I
guess I would need to know like yeah do
the Scouts have like little
revolutionary drums or something and

(43:06):
they're like is it like uh Battle of the
bastards where they have like the
leaders of the army's coming they talk
at it hey my arm is coming I have six
thousand bees exactly
just a bend the knee and we'll let you
live I don't know exactly yeah but
they're murder Hornets so they're just
awful
um murder foreigners is it's a rough

(43:28):
name but it sounds like it's I don't
know who I dislike worse the
Yellowjackets or murder Hornets but
probably the murder Hornets because
murder Hornets actually it'll take out
people
but Yellow Jackets are not good they're
just the murder Hornets will actually
take out a person and and just so
everyone is clear all of this has
everything to do with prepping you've

(43:49):
got to be aware of what to do with them
it's about protecting your area
um yeah it's all those things yeah so I
yeah we we have uh when we do our home
garden and stuff we want to have some
some Paula my wife loves flowers and
stuff so she'll we get the pollinators
to get the bees and I think it's good
for all the vegetable stuff too so yeah
exactly yeah no no the flowers and

(44:10):
things are awesome we brought it full
circle we did we brought it around we
brought it around that's right we're
kind of professional stuff here we are
we are we are just on the spot we are we
are fantastic we're ready for the
podcast Hall of Fame is what we are
already
um okay all right the scouts rest in a
certain places around the hive then if
you get too close they send a scent and

(44:31):
then incoming on you
they have Scouts to let like if you're
coming towards their nest is that what
that means
around the hive then if you get too
close
so they have Lookout people they have
they have Lookout bees oh man these guys
are shady yeah exactly they they need to
it's like like drug dealers and stuff

(44:53):
like we used to live in a neighborhood
where we they had Lookout people and
they had a certain whistling system that
they would do to notify like when the
cops were coming and stuff it was these
murder Hornets aren't just bad news yeah
it's just it's they're not they're not
fun they need to just go away that's
what I think you're uh just again your
lighting of your video looks just Top

(45:13):
Notch today thank you it's really good I
don't know if the makeup departments you
have new I I was playing around with it
and so yeah so I've got I've got some
new front lights I've killed the other
lights I started trying to do some color
stuff back here and it seems to be
working kind of but we need to work on
that a little bit so we're making we're
making progress okay

(45:35):
um I want to look just as good as your
home studio yeah my home studio man it's
been calm Studio it's amazing this one
I've just I'm just all natural so it's a
yeah I have the organic uh set up right
now for financing refresh is apparently
laughing at us kind of professional
that's new t-shirt yeah exactly not only
is it a new t-shirt I feel like kind of

(45:56):
was an overstatement like like really
it's just some guys we're just yeah
um all right well it's it's after six
o'clock oh wow
you are still at work so you need to go
home I'm going to eat dinner
um I'm going to prepare our house to uh
repel yellow jackets and murder Hornets

(46:16):
um and then we'll meet back
well probably not next week because
you're going to be traveling when I
drive by Portland we'll get our Roman
candles we'll come to your place we'll
shoot Roman candles exactly
I like that yeah
um and then yeah so probably next week I
might jump on myself I might do a remote
uh we'll text we'll see how my people

(46:38):
contact your people yeah we'll see what
happens everyone keep their eyes open
because as you know we are the least
reliable podcast on the airwaves well
we're talking about really a pocket
we're a host for a chat room that is
true we are at least from yeah
and we do color commentary of their
chats this way exactly exactly all right

(46:59):
everyone we'll have a wonderful rest of
your week
um and we will talk to you either next
week or the week after or feel free to
join us on this new threads thing or
whatever we're gonna do and uh we'll
talk with you all soon thanks a lot
bye-bye
