(00:46):
we are back we have made it we took a
little bit of a kind of like a summer
break Hiatus or something last week a
little bit
um what's the Taylor Swift song there's
a lot going on or there's not much going
on something like that yeah yeah I was I
was down in your neck of the woods and
in the woods so exactly you were off
grid

(01:07):
yeah exactly and I was busy with a
variety of other things and so we just
ended up just foregoing last I don't
think I even wrote or emailed I think I
was just like Mia you didn't know things
I I even tried I was like I know you're
in the woods
I drink a lot of I drink a lot of uh a
lot of beer and I was spent a lot of
time in the woods and on rivers and

(01:28):
stuff and yeah that is well as as well
you should as well you should you were
in beautiful area
uh we're very I'm very jealous we're
going to be there in a few weeks we're
going to Center Central Oregon or which
one yeah yeah we're going
um we uh go for an annual camping trip
um which is the deal that I have with my

(01:49):
wife that we will I will be able to
continue to buy any of these proper
things that I think are fun and
interesting and everything else as long
as we go camping once a year to try them
out
um and what part what party do you go
camping at uh we go to uh it's like a
campground by Lake Billy Chinook so it's

(02:10):
kind of Bend like Ben Madras scissors
yeah it kind of all Blends together I
was I was just there so uh we spend most
of our time at Sun River but yeah it was
fun I'm sorry I broke up I broke up our
standard introduction no no no no no
sunroofer is fantastic sunroof is where
we usually like if we're going for just

(02:30):
like a vacation thing we will go to Sun
River over there it's that's our area
it's so awesome there it's like uh it's
a little weird it takes us a few days to
get used to it because uh everyone's so
nice there's not a I mean I'm from in
the Seattle area you know there's spray
paint all over there's all sorts of
crime and stuff and over there like in

(02:52):
Sun River you could ride your bike
around you don't even have to lock it up
you could just roll up to a restaurant
and no one's gonna steal it and everyone
yeah no one Hawking at me or flipping me
off in the car and uh it takes a little
bit to get used to it they do it on
their bikes instead they don't they
don't flip you off in the car they do it
on the bike trail they're not even not
even then everyone's uh you know ding

(03:13):
ding ding ding on your left and hey have
a great day over here
so I'm not used to it I'm used to AFU
get out of the road prepper
is that is that a Sun River thing or is
that just the people in your
neighborhood know who you are just like
hey you again

(03:33):
um yeah Sun River was kind of like it's
kind of like for Oregon uh if you live
in in Oregon specifically like the
Portland area I'll say yeah we Portland
surrounding area yeah
um you kind of grow up and like everyone
has there are multiple beaches that are
kind of close there's Cannon Beach
Lincoln City uh Seaside are kind of like

(03:54):
the most popular vacationy beaches but
everyone kind of has their Beach that
they grew up going to and they don't go
to the other beaches so like we were a
Seaside Family and so we only like we
usually only go to Seaside
um but then there are other families
that are like Lincoln City families and
they only go to Lincoln City and it's
the same thing with Central Oregon
you've got like Sun River but then

(04:14):
you've also got Eagle Crest and uh Inn
at the seventh mountain is over there
and
um Black Butte is there and so those are
kind of like similar resorty like little
areas
um and so there are people that are like
oh we're a Black Butte family and we
only go to Black Butte yeah uh we were a
Sun River Family so we grew up it's very

(04:35):
clicky then yeah exactly like the
goodies the little ice cream store we
went there every night it's fantastic
it's been there since I was a a very
small child and we would go and get ice
cream and jelly beans and yep everything
else we did the same thing we're uh we
go to Cultus Lake is our that's kind of
our body of water that we the kids would
want to go to every day but yeah uh yeah

(04:56):
Central Oregon's really nice we spent
some time in Bend as well too but
there's too many people in Bend for me I
want I want less people so
people think
[Music]
not that many people there but uh it was
a fancy band he doesn't want like
regular bandwidth actual people he wants

(05:16):
like fancy band which is like Sun River
which is like all vacation homes and
like yeah exactly we get an Airbnb over
there so I'll show you some of the
photos when we because I think we're
getting together right that is the plan
that is the rumor that is the plan that
they're gonna get updated photos yeah
there's going to be the families we'll

(05:37):
meet it'll be like I don't know if it's
gonna be like a mafia meeting or if it's
going to be a wedding it's something
along those lines but the families are
going to meet there will be food eaten
at some point I'm sure
um and pictures and all that kind of
stuff and then and then Miss Taylor
Allison Swift will perform and that's
big that's big time yeah exactly uh yeah

(05:59):
well uh Seattle will welcome you and uh
we'll I'm looking forward to the spray
paint uh you'll get a lot of free pay
you'll probably get mugged a couple
times and all the usual stuff so I will
say that we we have we have had our car
broken into twice uh visiting Seattle uh
so that is you know that is it is not a
new thing for us but that's how we
welcome you know guests over exactly I'm

(06:21):
sure they saw the Oregon license plates
and they were like you know what you
know be gone and we did our normal our
drive down to Oregon and we see Portland
okay let's go around yeah
the freeways are nice you just kind of
go around and just go around the city

(06:42):
and all that kind of stuff
um but yeah so uh so yeah so so welcome
to episode 62 by the way yeah I like how
like uh pigs fly and Chuck they're all
just talking about listening to us
they're just like okay hey we got our
chat room again we're here to support
the chat room we're here to provide a
chatting ability for Chuck and Pony girl

(07:03):
and pigs fly and Denise if she's here or
whoever else to just chat amongst
themselves for a little while on a
Wednesday evening and you and I will
chat and yeah exactly it's kind of polls
here or there that will make fun yeah
now I I posted on my Instagram but uh
that lava the lava cave down there yes

(07:23):
that's like the best prepper underground
bunker like it is that's where you want
to go if the uh
nuclear fallout or uh underground
shelter where you restore some food it's
a consistent temperature it lasts for
Miles like that's that's the place to go
yeah yeah no it is
um it is a very cool thing

(07:44):
um when we were there last year the kids
and and everybody they went and did that
I unfortunately had to have a conference
call so I was in the parking lot taking
her they don't have good reception in
the cave no no no it's not a good spot
if you want it's a good fair to cage too
yeah exactly it's a fair day cage it's a
it's a black site it's it's just off
grid well it gave me a good opportunity
to test out a lot of flashlights so I

(08:05):
was ready for it so like it's gonna take
out this old light and we get the
Streamlight and everyone should have
made a video about that I yeah I was I
was starting to and then my wife said
don't make a video
this is family time
okay when we meet I'm gonna I'm gonna
explain to Mrs prepper
um the idea of like that a text

(08:25):
write-off like that would have been like
if you made a video about the flashlight
in the cave
I made a video at that cave already with
one particular flashlight so it wasn't
yeah it didn't need to redo I could
probably do it better now we can still
write it off it's fine
um I'll have my I'll have my financial
tax department get a hold of your

(08:46):
financial tax department it's all with
the legal things and all that sort of
stuff we'll get it figured out
um so yeah but it looked like you were
having a wonderful time
um out in Sun River I was like I was I
was checking the Instagram the urban
prepper Instagram I did a couple yeah I
haven't posted on Instagram for a little
bit uh uh but yeah it's fun yeah the
algorithm loved you the algorithm was

(09:07):
like oh tub's back oh here let's let's
let's send his send his image out to
everybody okay good yeah
um so I see that we're talking about
medical emergency tips for your family
from an eventful yeah yeah it was
eventful week it was an eventful week
for me and and you played a role in it
you didn't know it because you were in
the middle of nowhere

(09:27):
um but it was it was interesting because
we had kind of two medical emergencies
this week one was uh and luckily
everybody's okay
um one was my daughter
um we were we're at friend's house and
bit down on something and split her
tooth uh a big chunk of it off

(09:48):
um and uh it was gonna be like 24 hours
till we could get in to get the dentist
and
um it was not super painful but it was
uncomfortable or whatever and I had
remembered
that there was a video that the urban
prepper made back in the day about
dental preparedness kits and yes folks I
had the dentap nice I had I had these

(10:11):
everywhere and I was like I bought them
because Chuck said to buy them yeah
I don't know when I'll need them and
sure enough
we had to Ed so we went in the bathroom
and I pulled this out and I got the
little paste out and I put the the
filling in and uh when she went in for
the into the dentist the next day she

(10:32):
the dentist said that they would
normally put a temporary filling in but
because I had done such a good job with
the dentep
they weren't gonna replace it and
they're just gonna pull her tooth in a
couple days wow nice so not not nice
that you know that happened but yeah so
this goes in the category of prepper

(10:52):
things that people recommend to you that
you're like I don't know when I would
ever need that because they said I
should buy it I'll buy it and sure
enough it works really really well uh
I've never had to use it actually
[Laughter]
anyway I can say I have to use it it
works phenomenally well

(11:12):
um and I would recommend everybody at
least get one of these they're not
expensive they're like three or four
dollars or something you get them on
Amazon
um but get some of these
um and put it with a tube of Orajel the
little numbing gel
um luckily my daughter didn't need the
numbing gel it wasn't like in a root or

(11:34):
anything like that so it didn't hurt as
much but if it had been having the
Orajel with this would have been a
fantastic thing so dentep is the name uh
tup has done a video about it I made you
another video about it but everybody
should have some of this now I'm
starting to think that geez does that
expire by a certain date because I
probably need to reload some kits so uh

(11:54):
you know what I was thinking about that
because I bought it
I bought it when I watched your video
yeah which was years ago uh three
decades ago exactly exactly when you
only had 12 subscribers yeah
um I was I was one of the first um but
yeah it still worked it's like a putty

(12:15):
um it's kind of like uh I mean it's like
a little bit of clay kind of and you
just use the little it comes with this
little spatula thing and you use the the
fat flat ends to kind of spackle it on
and then you use the little Roundy end
to kind of divot it in and then they
just bite down to make sure that it's

(12:36):
not sticking and it hardens
automatically and it's fantastic so
totally everybody should get some of
that that's awesome
the next thing that made me think about
you
um
and it was more about have you thought
of this but it involved PDFs and I was
like oh this is an interesting idea F

(12:56):
your PDF F your PDF sir F your PDFs
um so my my
um dad fell uh last week and uh we
needed to call an ambulance and and uh
because he wasn't able to walk down the
stairs we need to get him out of the
house and everything else
um luckily he's gonna be okay he's it

(13:18):
was it was a tear and they can be
repaired and so we're on to that
um but when the paramedics were there I
was there I got there first my my mom
was uh grocery shopping she called me
she's like hey can you meet the
ambulance make sure they're not to break
the door down sure I'm on it
and the ambulance people were asking me
like what uh what is he allergic to and

(13:42):
what medications is he taking and things
like that and I didn't know off the top
of my head like what my dad normally
takes because I don't live with him you
know lately and so it's like I don't
know what he's taking right now
um my mom however had this sheet in her
computer and she had one for my dad and
one for my for her and it was every

(14:04):
medication that they were on as well as
all of their like surgical history
medical history and everything else so
if they ever needed to go to a doctor or
an ambulance or whatever they just hit
print and it was like a whole sheet of
all the stuff to get to them wow and I
was like this is fantastic
um because we have we've gotten used to
using like my chart and and having that

(14:27):
but if you're somewhere where you don't
have my chart or somebody else is with
you that doesn't have access to your my
chart
um having something either as a Google
doc or as a PDF or something seem like a
fantastic plan
um and I was curious I was gonna make a
template but I was curious if you've

(14:47):
given any thought or add something
similar well uh I need to no no your
mom's impressive that's a uh yeah
actually I need to improve that because
I I like in bug out bags and stuff I
have that but for like EDC purposes yeah
like man maybe it should be in like the
next Altoids kit or something I'm trying
to figure out the best approach for it

(15:08):
or do you have it on your phone because
we use my chart too so yeah it's pretty
easy for the doctors but that's a
yeah I was I was thinking about we were
talking about it with a friend and by
the way my mom my mom organizes like
nobody's business yeah my mom was making
PDFs before before yeah exactly like
that's just the thing
um you put my mom and my wife together

(15:29):
and they'll organize they'll organize
everything under this like wow I just am
like hey what do you think about this oh
it's great let me go make a video about
it it'll take all the credit for it
um but so they are fantastic when it
comes to that choice
um but I like we got another friend that
we were telling about uh the other night
and they were saying that they had it as
a notes a thing as a note on their phone

(15:53):
um and so I was curious thinking like
okay is there a way like
would it be better to have as an image
so that you could like have the image in
a note or one note you could have it on
like a Google Drive you could have it in
your phone on a camera roll yeah I'm
thinking that that's probably the way to
go and uh it might even be good to have
like a little laminated sheet of it in

(16:13):
your wallet or something but uh yeah
um so yeah so I was thinking I would
come up with some sort of little
template yeah but then you know people
could download or something and and use
it yeah that's for PDF after PDFs
um it's gonna be awesome yeah
yeah I was like I was like okay all
these things happen the toughest

(16:34):
tangentially or instrumentally connected
to see I have to tell them but he's in
Sun River not answering my calls so you
know it's just yeah a lot of uh I don't
know sometimes those preppers you like
you think about stuff and you prepare
for it and then you never actually have
to use it but then like if you make a
video maybe someone else did the same
thing and then they actually had to use
it so it's beneficial so most of the

(16:57):
things that I prep for like I've never
had to use I've never had to use that a
buckout bag uh yeah and a lot of things
uh
a lot so a lot of it's for more for like
peace of mind how it's uh I'm gonna
probably do this too I'm gonna copy I'm
going to follow your leader your mom's
lead and and then I'll have peace okay
cool got the medical card in the in the
Altoids kid or wherever it's going to be
so yeah it's it's very odd thinking

(17:19):
about it because we spend a lot of time
trying to get ready for things and then
hoping that those things never happen
yeah you don't want to like having like
having Insurance like you have like life
insurance and and car insurance you hope
you never have to use health insurance
to use that like regularly usually
um but like

(17:40):
car insurance you hope you never have to
use it and like home insurance and life
insurance you hope you never have to use
it but you have it just in case I wonder
if like uh because unlike my phones I
always carry uh I always have like
Band-Aids and stuff in there I'm
wondering if I should keep it in in
where my phone is interesting idea yeah

(18:00):
um a couple of them man uh the
possibilities we're gonna yeah yeah
because we were also we were also in uh
the midst of finalizing uh like we were
redoing our estate plan you know all the
wills and the powers of attorney and all
of that sort of stuff uh and so we've
been working on like okay how do we
share that information with the right

(18:21):
people and make it available so there's
something were to happen you know heaven
forbid like the people would know what
to do or where to go or all that sort of
stuff
um one of the things was like updating
our password sheet so like someone were
to need to access our accounts like they
would have the right up-to-date
passwords
um but then there was this piece about
this medical thing and I was thinking

(18:43):
you know
if anybody ever needed to know what we
were doing like we don't necessarily
share at the dinner table with you know
at Thanksgiving by the way I'm now
allergic to penicillin or whatever like
it's not it's not a thing
um so like having that family or key
contact
connection to be like hey this is this

(19:04):
is new information or this is
information you should have sort of a
thing love it uh the the wheels are
churning now I'm thinking of I'm gonna
come out with a video really quick on
this stuff yeah exactly yeah hold on
we're gonna pause the live stream so
that top can make a video
um he needs some monetization to pay for
those new flashlights it might be a
short it might be a short but yeah I
think that's a hahaha

(19:26):
I think it's it's great stuff hopefully
yeah all the prep stuff hopefully we
never have to use any of them but it's
it's nice when you have it ready to go
on those kind of moments for sure so
yeah yeah on our on our camp on our when
we're down in Sun River we had a couple
minor injuries and stuff so it's nice to
bring out the first date kid on some
Burns and some scratches and stuff and I
had a I used the Manuka honey for burns

(19:47):
with the tecoderm so my father-in-law
came down and he burnt his leg on his
motorcycle pipe or his exhaust pipe and
so I did some they they called me up and
so I I was working on that and then my
daughter always seems to get some kind
of cut or something on her so
how did the Manuka Honey work that's

(20:08):
what I haven't tried yet you've you've
talked about it I have bought Manuka
Honey packages just yeah it works great
yeah I use it mainly for burns now uh
okay and then also I keep it it's kind
of nice because it's dual purpose so you
if you have the munchies you could
always eat the Bugatti or you could put
it on a wound or a burn and it does it I
think it does a really nice job for it I
don't I got rid of the burn gel and now

(20:30):
I use the Manuka honey and actually I
haven't been carrying like the triple
antibiotic ointment I've been using the
Manuka honey just because it's uh it's
dual purpose so okay when you said that
your your father-in-law burned himself
on a pipe I was thinking a motorcycle
pipe but if you're getting the munchies
what type of pipe well we are in Oregon
we are in Oregon okay all right I'm just
making sure no you know it was the motor

(20:52):
the exhaust pipe is really close to
where his leg is on uh when he was
riding and so he he burnt it on that
yeah
um well that's good yeah some of those
like the Manuka Honey one like I got it
because you told me to yeah um but I
don't get to use it all the time but I
have used it and it's real convenient
for the little first aid kits for sure
so yeah exactly

(21:13):
um yeah you can't you can't eat triple
antibiotic ointment like you can no you
can't no it's not recommended have you
seen the people that are eating borax
now borax why yeah it was a it's a thing
on Tick Tock now where are these
youngsters they're like Oh I thought
they were eating Thai dishwashing like
that or whatever it's uh they are

(21:33):
claiming that you need to eat like Boron
is a element that you should have and so
it's in borax and so there are people
who are drinking borax because
they think it's in there and there's
like a lot of people that are like
please don't drink borax like get a
boron supplement if you want that or eat

(21:54):
some vegetables but like yeah it's it's
a whole thing yeah I haven't heard of
that but I have heard of like the
I don't know if it feels like I was a
few years ago where everyone's eating
those uh the The Tide Pods The Tide Pods
yeah yeah yeah I think those are on the
same camp as the Grimace milkshake now
where yeah they're just it's just people
are yeah it's a whole it's just not I

(22:16):
saw that Grimace came back to McDonald's
I I always thought the Grimace was gone
because they used to have these it was
always you know Ronald McDonald's was
running the show but there was like the
Hamburglar and Grimace and there's other
characters and it seemed like they went
away for a little bit but uh yeah and
then they brought them back and it was
like his birthday and so they have a
Grimace milkshake and it's purple yes
and now everyone on Tick Tock and

(22:36):
YouTube is drinking it and pretending
that it is unaliving them so so it's
like there's like cats that are drinking
it and then there's like a little cat
skeleton like it's like a quick cut to
like that and then there's yeah it's a
whole thing I don't know why like why it
happened but yeah I didn't know everyone

(22:57):
yeah I feel like a lot of the characters
that I grew up with like the McDonald's
characters and like the foxes the cereal
there used to be a lot more serial
characters like yeah hey there's always
Tony the Tiger and then the Fruit Loops
the uh the and toucan fam Toucan Sam and
the rice crispica and then for a while
like you didn't see though they
like even on like cinnamon toast crunch

(23:18):
I thought there used to be three of
three old guys on there and now there's
only one mouth so that one like bumped
off his two buddies to get more it was
downsizing yeah he's downsizing so yeah
exactly but the other two didn't make it
through the pan Cornelius the rooster
wasn't that on corn flakes I think yep
yeah there's a lot there's all sorts of
ones but yeah and Grimace like for a
while Grimace was out of the picture I

(23:39):
don't know why I'm talking about this
but yes these are the things I think
about it you know and those are good
those are good things yeah um two other
things because like I feel like a lot of
times we have these conversations and
you do all kinds of prepping things and
I am like I made some Legos Anna you
used to I think you won for I mean you
used the dental kit so the dental kit
was amazing I also got to use

(24:02):
um so we were in part of our purging of
the house over the last few months I
sold
um some old go zero uh Goal Zero
batteries and I had these like 20 watt
or 30 watt
um solar panels and I I got rid of them
because I had bought foldable 100 watt

(24:24):
solar panels
and I was like okay well these will be
better and close enough and okay great
but I had never used them and
um so I got this Duracell
um battery from Costco
um it was going out on closeout there's
a new model that's coming in it's a
little more expensive it comes with a

(24:45):
solar panel it's got a little bit more
storage in it
um so these are a little bit smaller
um but I was like oh I'll plug it in and
I need to charge it and I was like wait
a minute wait just a minute I have these
solar panels that I've never tried and I
have this Duracell thing and it's 109
degrees outside and sunny I'm actually
gonna go see if I can charge this thing

(25:06):
with the solar panel nice so I did I put
the solar panel out in the morning and
it had a little gauge on the battery
that showed how many watts were coming
in
um and it was great it was it charged I
mean it was it charged 30 because it was
already at like 66 or something so it
charged the remaining third of the

(25:27):
battery in about four hours
um and it got up to like
75 watts of power coming in off of this
little foldable 100 watt uh panel and so
yeah so it was very cool I was like okay
so the rock Pals 100 watt solar panel

(25:47):
foldable is fantastic it's a lot less
expensive than than some of the other
ones
um and it's a lot more portable than the
rigid one so I got to do solar things I
was like that's fantastic
um
there was something else oh this little
guy have you ever have you seen these

(26:10):
it is it's a plastic case oh for pills
yeah so I've seen there's a there's a
bunch of ads on Tick Tock for these
pocket pharmacies yes and I was like and
there's like pocket pills or whatever
and I'm like okay looks super cool but
they're like 50 bucks or something like
that and I was like it seems like a lot
for whatever

(26:30):
um I found these and these are like
almost identical to the actual pill
cases I I think they are exactly the
same but I'm not going to say that
because I don't know for sure and like
don't sue me bro
um but they have little little openings
and all that but you can then go on to
Etsy and get the labels and so there are

(26:53):
people who have made just PDF sheets of
little medicine uh brand names that fit
in these little squares
and so you don't even have to have like
you know write it and just identify what
the medicine is you can actually have
like the Box on each of the little
squares and then on the the back of the

(27:14):
paper you write like what the expiration
date is nice
um so yeah and these are like two or
three bucks
um where's the link Amazon because yeah
my wife just bought uh she got one of
these Amazon but she yeah she just got
one of those ones that's but it's more
of like that's like the calendar Monday
Tuesday Wednesday Thursday you know for

(27:34):
pills yeah
actually I'm not sure if that's a good
phone yeah so I'll have I'll get the
link for for this and then I was gonna
try to find the link for the Etsy
because there's like
50 people on Etsy that have the same
sheet yeah um so we can get we can get
that for everybody but I was like okay
this might be a cool thing for like a in

(27:56):
replacement of Altoids kit like having
that kind of those compartments like
that and it seems pretty small so it is
it is really small so it's like
comparison size so this is my phone and
then this is the thing
so it's about half the size of my iPhone
yeah and it's about

(28:18):
I don't know width wise it's it's about
two-thirds three quarters
um it's it's thicker
um but I mean it's gotta hold pills or
whatever so it should be thicker
um but yeah I think the Altoids thing
would be interesting I don't remember in
your Altoids kit though there are a
couple of things that are they'll let
that go the length of it I want to say

(28:39):
there's like a bit driver or something
yeah there's a good driver yeah most
actually lately I've been mainly using
uh the Altoid Smalls or because it fits
in your pocket and I don't have the bit
driver in there but I do have pills and
some other things too so uh now now one
thing you could probably do if you were
handy
um which I am minimally handy but I can

(29:01):
come up with ways that people who are
handy could do things
um if you've got like the bit driver the
little divider in here I don't know if
anybody can see this or not but
um you could take like a little Dremel
or something and just kind of cut this
little divider
um out yeah and then you would have like
the flex would still stick and that

(29:23):
would give you essentially the the full
length of the kit yeah and I think uh
I've been I've been toying with the
trying to do like a 3D printed Altoids
inserts to help with storage and stuff
like that for those kind of yeah those
kind of compartments but I think that
might be a maybe a cheaper solution so
I'm gonna have to look into that now so
all right I'll I will I'll figure out

(29:45):
what I'll I'll maybe do like a post or
something and just put all the links to
all this stuff in it for everybody
um 3D printing
you mentioned it is a thing that I have
been considering for a while because I
think there's all kinds of cool little
prepper things you could do with it yeah
do you have a 3D printer no but my my
kids use one at school and they do it

(30:06):
for certain projects so oh you said that
with your Altoids so I'm going to set up
a design for the I'm going to say hey
can you print this out at school yeah
exactly look daddy got 38 orders for new
Altoids kits I need I need parts go to
school and print out the parts for me
yeah
um yeah I think I I've been very much

(30:27):
toying with the idea of of a 3D printer
for
you know just there's all kinds of
little cool prepping
gadgets and things that I've seen people
come up with but also I kind of like the
idea of having the ability to print out
spare parts for things if you needed it
so like if you needed a

(30:49):
PVC connecting piece because a sprinkler
line broke or something like that
instead of having to go to Home Depot or
maybe not be able to go to Home Depot
you could actually print out whatever
that that piece is yeah I think it'd be
uh there's it seems like a lot of cool
those kind of things would be pretty
awesome so
it's going to change the way that we

(31:10):
shop for things especially the faster
that it gets it's very very Back to the
Future too yeah exactly exactly they
made pizzas on that
well they have they just they just
gave the authorization or something to
uh
I want to say it's 3D printed meat

(31:31):
um I don't know if I'm maybe it was
maybe it was just growing it like they
had like stem cells and they were I have
heard about that yeah yeah and I'm like
okay so this is like yeah then you just
you just print out whatever kind of meat
you want
to go on your little 3D printer yeah
yeah I feel like uh it's gonna take a
few decades to get refined like because

(31:52):
because like on the what is that The
Fifth Element then they 3D print uh the
the girl's arm that got yours oh yeah
yeah so they and that was kind of meat
and so and they got that right but that
was like way in the future so I don't
know I don't know if in 2023 that the
the 3D printed meat is going to be as
high quality so or the 3D printed arms
yeah I feel like that's a that's another

(32:13):
thing that's probably problematic it's
probably coming at some point so yeah
exactly
um all right let's look at that there's
been a lot of chatting happening there's
talking amongst themselves yeah yeah
exactly I think we've been so talking we
haven't uh so I saw something about a
generator
yeah
um there was conversation about a
generator
um

(32:35):
they were talking about moving places
um
yeah we've done a poor job of monitoring
the the yeah yeah exactly
Trolls but other than that yeah yeah you
guys will see these days yeah exactly I
mean that's a whole different thing yeah

(32:56):
that's a that's another thing
um a pony girl was was telling me that I
was doing a good job which yes which I
appreciate and and yeah uh the dentist
apparently apparently when my daughter
was at the dentist and the dentist said
oh your parents did such a great job
with the filling and my daughter said

(33:19):
and by parents you mean my dad uh
and my wife looked at me like okay wait
a minute like really like like you're
she usually does all of the medical
stuff everything that's gross that has
to do with medical children things she
does I do know so this was like the one
moment that I like did thinking that the

(33:39):
doctor was like I did a fantastic job I
was like you know see she was like well
maybe you should be in charge of all of
this stuff I was like no no no no no no
no that's fine I I don't do that stuff
as well
um
let's see what else uh tornadoes
um prepping us educational yes very nice
I don't think there's something there's
uh yeah my parents carried a sheet in

(34:02):
their wallet let's see everything they
took another medical info so we're
liking the wallet idea
I think I like my the phone the back of
the phone inside the phone case I like
that yeah
yeah I like that idea I reduced my
wallet size I have a smaller wallet now
so because
but I can't show too much because I
don't want you see my cards but I have

(34:22):
the thin one now so I used to have the
big thick Honker wallet that had every
single card and I finally reduced it
down you were sitting down the prepper
bulge that's what was the prepper the
prepper butt bulge was uh yeah it's not
not
not appealing sir yes
um Chuck was saying three quarters of
his preps he hopes he never needs

(34:43):
um it's like home insurance I hope I
never use it either
um yeah it makes it interesting when
we're trying to decide like
a what to get like what category of
thing to get like do you need a like a
battery or a generator like I was
thinking uh because Prime day was also
last week
um did you did you do much prime day or

(35:05):
I was I was in Sunriver and I didn't
even think about Optimus Prime oh all
right well that's that's fair that's
fair
um
moment and so I was paying attention to
all of the different deal things because
now that there's Prime day now Target
and Best Buy and everybody gets on and
has a deal

(35:25):
um
and so uh I was looking at potentially
getting some some bigger batteries and I
thought you know we have this little gas
generator it's like a 3 500 or 4700 watt
gas generator that we never use that
sits in our garage
um I've done such a poor job I haven't

(35:45):
even like run it through the first time
to like condition it or whatever it's
just sitting like it came right out of
the box okay um which is not good I I
I'm aware that's problematic
um but I was like we store gasoline for
it and now the batteries are everywhere
unless like could we just get batteries

(36:07):
to replace the gas generator yeah the
gas generators I think are still uh much
better yeah yeah because we have a lot
of those like those big batteries for
like the the lawn equipment like the
mower and the blower and the uh and you
you could kind of it's kind of like a
Devastator from Transformers where they
all combine or Thundercats or anything

(36:28):
and they make a super thing and you
could have like a battery generator but
it still doesn't compare I don't think
too uh my Honda gas generators yeah I
was I was doing some like math and I
don't know if it was the right math but
it seemed logical to me at the time and
it was like that generator with with
gasoline would run for days whereas to

(36:49):
get that many that same amount of
wattage output yeah would have been
thousands of dollars of batteries still
yeah um when we when we lose power like
the my wife's primary concern isn't the
fridge or isn't any lights or anything
it's for fish tanks or aquariums and
yeah we've connected those to some of

(37:09):
the battery power generators and they it
just does not last maybe 90 minutes or
something versus the the gas generators
for those so uh
yeah
yeah yeah no 100 uh this was yeah Chuck
was saying in the midwest the generators
always get used uh we have ice storms
and wind storms a lot
um yeah two days without power is not is

(37:30):
not a good thing
um yeah the guess and and the other
thing for for me at least is because we
have the we have the whole house natural
gas generator so for snowstorms and
general powder outages like it just
kicks on and goes and we don't notice
anything and we can run literally our

(37:51):
entire house load off of that generator
and and nothing is is
um we don't have to cut back on anything
that's awesome it's amazing
um but if we ever had an earthquake and
that didn't work out then that's where
that gas generator would come in and so
trying to figure out like what we would
be running in that sort of a situation

(38:12):
and all of that
we have a question here from funny girl
oh we have a question a question there's
a couple questions one on EDC and one on
one oh all right
I can't answer anything I don't I never
have experienced okay 117 degrees so
it's yeah exactly I don't know which in
my portable
so I used to power my batteries

(38:34):
um
I would think probably not at 117
degrees I would think probably not
because
like what you would be most worried
about would be like a like it gets
designed to be in front of the sun it's
a solution yeah

(38:54):
so I would think that it would be like
as opposed to like if you leave your
iPhone out in the direct sun at that
heat it will shut down because the
battery and and all of that is is not
designed for
the heat that gets generated off of it
um but I would think that a solar panel

(39:14):
would be designed to to manage that yeah
I think I think the solar panel should
be fine for sure
um but uh you also probably like
whatever manufacturer it is probably has
some sort of like
operating
you know temperature zone or something
in in a manual or something so I would
probably look yeah I mean where we live

(39:35):
it doesn't get that hot and it doesn't
get too cold either so we're kind of in
the Goldilocks of temperatures for and
so I don't I never have good advice for
extreme temperatures so yeah uh Pony
girl has a question
um she says there's there's some people
watching and only half of them have
given a thumbs up
yeah yeah what is happening what's going

(39:56):
on
um thank you Pony girl for bringing that
to our attention yes
um
post the EDC video yeah my I I just I
can I've worked on it I have all the
b-roll footage it's it's not that much
different than my last one though so I
don't know if it's worthwhile to do but
maybe just for a quick update type thing
uh
um yeah I've seen a lot of I've seen a

(40:18):
lot of creators
um do updated videos of like things so
like EDC 2023 EDC 2024.
um a lot because the algorithm will stop
showing the older one yeah and so if
people are wanting to see even if it's a
similar content but if it's somebody

(40:39):
who's new they may not see your 2020 EDC
yeah so you should probably just do it
even even if it's pretty similar uh
they're minor tweaks I I hate uh
seasonal edc's I don't uh or color coded
like oh this is my white EDC that I use
when I only when I wear white clothes or
something
this is my fall EDC it's like it's

(41:02):
pumpkin spiced yeah my pumpkin spice
you you just sees your EDC like like it
shouldn't change that much once you get
it refined to what works best for you
like I I just think it's weird to have a
yeah like seasonal or like themed
that's my James Bond EDC yeah well I

(41:24):
think another thing about it too is a
lot of times when we're thinking about
seasonal seasonal gear you're thinking
more about like
it's more clothing related oh yeah
um and so it would be more like in a bug
out bag you might change the type of
clothing that's in the bug out bag
to match the season maybe but like your

(41:47):
EDC like you you have a flashlight in
the winter or the summer yeah there's no
like summer flashlight and a winter
flash or summer
the winter the winter flashlight has a
little parka on it's got the puffy
jacket Koozie uh is this yeah this is my
my March uh my Springtime EDC that's all
we shouldn't make

(42:09):
flashlight koozies
parkas and then we should like we should
have them like embroidered like my web
my winter flashlight and you could have
like different scales for your flat for
like your knives and stuff or you could
change it per month and uh or first
season or each or every quarter I feel
like that's Ben banter's though I feel
like he would like have a different not

(42:31):
only does he have a different knife for
every month but like he would have it
for every outfit like this is my jogging
knife this is my cocktail knife this is
you know yeah I don't I don't roll that
way but I understand that some people do
so yeah exactly Go full bougie

(42:56):
everything is
do you know that Tiffany trademarked
their blue their color
so you can't get Tiffany scales for your
your knife no so the Tiffany that the
actual Tiffany color is trademarked if
through Pantone I think it is and so
like you can't technically like wow use
the color and claim that it's a Tiffany

(43:18):
blue like you can get a slightly
different shade of it but like you can't
actually actually like trade it pretty
good that's probably good yeah yeah a
bougie one let me create like expensive
EDC stuff like because I always lose my
EDC like I I think I lost one of my
knives I can't find it's it's a Ben
banter's knife too and I can't find it
so I don't think your EDC should be too

(43:40):
expensive because you're prone like I I
lose the I uh the pen I have I almost I
lose it all the time so sometimes I get
EDC stuff just that's high visibility
just because it might get stuck on the
couch or something and I'll lose it so
is it possible that this is less of an
EDC issue and more of a tough can't
remember things issue it's just well

(44:00):
like sometimes like the the knife falls
out of your pocket or or your flashlight
does or I fall asleep in the bed and
then I forgot that it that I didn't have
it there and I wore the same pants and
now I can't find my my flashlight or
something yeah there's so many pieces to
this a if you're falling asleep in the
bed and your EDC falls out what are you
wearing to bed what sort of tactical

(44:21):
pajamas are you wearing that that have
flashlights and knives attached to them
um also if you sit down and knives are
falling out I may know now why people
are flipping you off on the bus and in
the cars because you're just dropping I
always get flipped off whenever I'm
driving because I drive like a granny so
uh Andrew's asking current Foley knife
so the one I'm using right now is the

(44:42):
Benchmade uh bug out like the EDC
buckout one which is uh and I have it I
actually have to order another one
because I can't find my blue one and I
want my blue one back because it's high
visibility but and then I also can't
find my Ben banter's uh he has a sent me
a little knife and I was rocking it for
a while and then my son lost it and I
eventually found it and now I lost it
again so

(45:03):
that's problematic so that's why I don't
I don't like do like the 400 knives and
stuff because I'll lose it eventually so
yeah you don't want the like glow in the
dark EDC that's Reggie that's a great
idea that is fantastic I love that idea
you could probably 3D print most of that
I would if you could
we gotta find like you'd have to find a
glow-in-the-dark knife

(45:24):
thing well even if you had some kind of
paint or something that didn't that's
true like do you have like a is there a
glow-in-the-dark fish or space pen and a
glow-in-the-dark flash like I love I
Reggie I love that idea
Reggie Reggie is trying all the video
hey in this video we're going to feature
about one of the dark EDC
hey guys I had this just wild crazy idea

(45:47):
it's a great idea gosh have you ever
considered a glow-in-the-dark EDC that
would be do you really do we really need
a folding knife if we carry a multi yeah
I agree uh sometimes uh I I think like
you're you're folding knife is like for
certain things that you want to use it
for for but for most things like if
you're opening up an Amazon package I
sometimes I find it insulting to use

(46:08):
your folding knife for it I use my like
the utility blade on the on the
multi-tool for those kind of things but
if I need to carve flesh I'm not gonna
I'm gonna use my full day knife or I got
to or a tomato flesh uh yeah I think uh
if you have I think you could get by
with not having a folding knife I think
the Foley knife is good though for uh

(46:29):
it's kind of prepper swag it shows that
you're in the cool Club too exactly
you're kind of like it's a whole yeah I
have not gotten uh I still have not
gotten fully acclimated to carrying a
folding knife like in my pocket like
they're they're like growing up they're
people who do would have knives and
everything and I was not that person

(46:52):
um so getting used to having like a
knife on me is a is a difference
um but I do it a lot in like my bags
like every bag that I have that I take
with me always has a folding knife the
multi-tool all of that sort of stuff I
just keep it in a bag as opposed to uh
keeping it in my pocket

(47:13):
yeah for a while I was doing and
sometimes I still do it but I have the
folding knife I'll have the uh and I had
a utility blade a razor blade a cougar
one and then the multi-tool it's like a
little
[Laughter]

(47:37):
my throwing knife and then I have my
belt knife and then I have my knife on
my necklace
yeah minimum seven knives on me yeah
exactly it's it's a it's an absolute
minimum threshold
um one way I've gotten around that
though a little bit is I do have the
little mini Leatherman

(47:58):
um there's a couple of different I think
it's the PS4
um they have like a squirt and they have
a couple of other ones
um I like the PS4 because it has
scissors the other two don't have
scissors they have like a toothpick and
like a corkscrew or something and I'm
like I want scissors
um give me something that I would use
um and it has a little tiny knife on it

(48:18):
so I kind of like for opening packages
and all of that sort of stuff and I keep
that on my keychain
um and so I feel like I at least have
some sort of an a sharp edge with me
always even if like the bigger more
substantial ones are are in my laptop
bag or sling bag or something like that
yeah

(48:42):
okay yeah so do an update featuring glow
in the dark EDC yeah exactly it's a
revolution idea watched alone and he
preferred a multi-tool
he was a winner
cool
I don't know who alone is but is that a
TV show or uh is that oh alone is a TV
show is that pony girl are you talking

(49:03):
about the TV show alone I haven't
watched it but I've seen it like
advertised and it shows up on like
that's like I watched what alone yes
hahaha
um oh chuck would like to recommend a
99.9 sterling silver Spork as part of
the bougie that's bougie preps that's

(49:24):
that is that's that's next level that's
fantastic I love that idea
um I think Tiffany actually makes like
silverware I I don't know I don't think
it's a bad idea to have like the hobo
Knife Set like uh we're having like
silver there's been times where I wish I
had some like uh that's what they call

(49:45):
it like right the hobo knife is a where
it has the phone the spoon the fork and
the knife the food yeah okay
yeah you're mumbling all of this and I'm
just like what are you trying to say I
spent some time in Portland so I'm still
getting myself my speech is coming back
to me it's understandable
um all right uh I think

(50:08):
yeah we're almost at an hour I think we
had a great I think we've covered all of
I think we covered a lot and uh pigs fly
and Pony girl and Chuck ever they got to
talk to each other a little bit so
exactly they had their little social
time we've we've facilitated that I
think we're in a good shape
um so thanks everybody for joining us we
appreciate it uh we'll be back next week

(50:29):
um keep an eye out uh on all the social
medias because there will supposedly in
theory it is rumored to happen uh um a
new a reunion of Cascadia dispatch in
the urban prepper uh this weekend so
there may be some photos or something
leaking out over the weekend and then
we'll be back next week to debrief on
the entire thing

(50:51):
um and either announce our our
separation or our continued merger one
or the other
so all right so thanks everybody I feel
like I made that awkward didn't mean to
but that's where we go with it all right
thanks everybody bye
