Que onda raza! Esta semana me sente a platicar con award-winning writer and podcast producer Erick Galindo!
A "Mexican American redhead from Compton'' as he describes himself, Erick is the producer and host of some of my favorite podcasts, like Idolo: la balada de Chalino Sanchez, and Wild. His writing has been picked up by The New York Times, LA Times, and several other major publications. Erick also has projects in Film, Radio and TV--he is currently working with Canelo Alvarez to develop an animated TV series.
With Erick I spoke about his career trajectory that at times he felt was going nowhere, his experience living in his car while traveling the US, coffee preferences, the significance of gambling in Mexican culture, and the timeless concept of the hero's journey.

CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist
It’s 1996 in rural North Carolina, and an oddball crew makes history when they pull off America’s third largest cash heist. But it’s all downhill from there. Join host Johnny Knoxville as he unspools a wild and woolly tale about a group of regular ‘ol folks who risked it all for a chance at a better life. CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist answers the question: what would you do with 17.3 million dollars? The answer includes diamond rings, mansions, velvet Elvis paintings, plus a run for the border, murder-for-hire-plots, and FBI busts.
