In this solo episode, Payton shares an experience he had while working with one of his mentorship students that gave him a lot of validation about his spirit guides. He shares some cool synchronicities which only have made him ponder more the true nature of our spirit guides while also resting in the fact that there is only so much we can ever know.

Welcome back.
I am excited to be herewith you today and to have a
conversation around spirit guides.
I know that's something we havetalked about multiple times
on this show or referenced.
(00:48):
And I thought it'd be fun tokind of touch on that topic.
Again, I've recently had a, somevalidating moments when it comes into
connection with my spirit guides.
So I thought I would sharethat with all of you.
And, this is just a funtopic to talk about.
So.
Spirit guides, what are spirit guides.
(01:08):
as I said, I know we'vetalked about this before.
And for me, when I was first startingto develop spirit guides, that was
something like instantly I learnedhow to connect with, and I was very.
Interested in figuring out what thatrelationship was, who they were, what
they meant for me, how they helped me.
(01:28):
And, you know, with many people in thespiritual world and especially mentors
and teachers, there's a lot of differentexplanations as to what they are, who they
are, what they can be, what they can't be.
and I've, I've really at this point,just kind of let all that go and not
worried so much about so much of thedetails and more, I just focus on
(01:50):
knowing that they're there to help me.
I do call them in beforeI, I have sessions.
you know, whether they needme to call them in or not.
I don't know how important that is,but it does make me feel good and
it helps just kind of get my, mymind and my energy and the right.
state before I go to work.
And before I begin to work with spirits.
(02:11):
So, I've had people say that yourspirit guides can't be loved ones.
Or that they can't be likespecific divine beings.
Like, people have said like,Jesus, can't be your spirit guide.
Uh, that that's a different rolethat he would play or, That your.
You know, there's just alot of opinions out there.
(02:33):
So my mentor that I reference athousand times, Danielle's she said
once when I was first beginning towork with her, that, um, she always
referenced your spirit guide as kindof your best friend on the other side,
your counterpart on the other side.
And that, to me rang, there wastruth in that that to me felt good.
I've also, as I've learned more and asI've done more growing, I have also.
(02:58):
Began to wonder if yourspirit guide isn't necessary.
Isn't just your.
higher self that is still back at home,that is still in that world of spirit.
That is just your, yourhigher consciousness.
I've wondered that I have also, I knowas I've shared on this show, I had an
experience with, uh, divine beings sinceI was little and, she has made herself
(03:20):
very known to me and has made it veryclear to me over the years that she helps.
Guide me now.
So what, how does that notmake her a spirit guide?
Right.
Like, you know, she's in thatrealm, she has power in that.
In that place.
And she has helped me manytimes throughout my life.
guide me through situations.
So I do consider her a spirit guide.
You know, I don't, I don't think it'sas limiting maybe as we try to make it,
(03:44):
but, I do think for whatever reason and.
For whoever they are.
I do think, when you're learning toconnect mediumistically, and when
you're learning to bring in thatworld of spirit, I do think whoever
they are, they are the ones that are.
Able to get closest to us firstand kind of help build that
connection with the other side.
(04:06):
So as I was journeying and figuring thisout in the beginning, I did come to know
one of my guides who gave me his name.
Arthur.
And, he always appeared to meas just like a black silhouette.
There was never, I couldn't geta lot of detail and that used to
really bother me in the beginning.
(04:28):
I just, I wanted to knowwhat he looked like.
I wanted to know kind of his,you know, the way he acted,
you know, all these details.
Until finally it came to me that,it didn't matter that that wasn't
something I needed to focus on becauseit didn't matter what he looks like.
I just needed to know he was there.
so that was kind of it that ended upbeing, uh, uh, Uh, hurdle to get over
(04:49):
to finally kind of let go the needfor all these like specific details.
Then, as I continued on, I began to startto get to know other ones that I had.
the other one I had her name is.
The name that I was given was Bridget.
And I never saw her face.
I just always saw this likelong red, beautiful hair.
(05:10):
And she always showed me her hands.
And her hands always did.
Maybe appear like they had a littleage on them, you know, they weren't
necessarily the hands of a youth.
but they were always just verybeautiful and I just remember
the detail around it so much.
So they, those are the two Inormally call in or normally.
work with, especially when I'mgetting ready to do a reading.
(05:33):
So as I shared in a previous episode,I started offering mentorship, for,
Lightworkers for people that are newly ontheir path, trying to unfold some of this.
The stuff that you have to navigatein the beginning on how everything
works, how it works for you.
you know, the meaning of all ofthese, you know, when you first get
(05:55):
in this world, there's like thiswhole library of spiritual lingo you
have to navigate through and try tofigure out how to do it correctly.
And.
what everything means.
And so I just, I have really found alot of joy and a lot of passion around
helping people kind of unpack that partof the journey and help, people learn
how their gifts work for them, because.
There is no one way to do it.
(06:17):
There is no box that this all fits in.
It's it's very personal.
And very unique to each individual.
So I have found that that has beenjust, uh, an area that I really,
really enjoy working on and reallyhelping guide people through.
So I've, I have a handful of menteesnow, students, and, I had a really
beautiful experience with one of them.
(06:38):
Each of them is, is on their, uh, is on adifferent part of their journey, which, I
also love because it, it really stretchesme and like making sure that I'm.
I'm building a program for each one thatis very specific for each one that will.
You know, give them the most out ofwhat they're needing from me, but I have
one that she just very naturally has nofear around, connecting mediumistically.
(07:02):
She she's very.
Even if she doesn't fully understandhow it all works for her yet, she's
she has a certain confidence abouther that I find very inspiring.
So in one of our first.
Sessions.
I just kind of wanted to give hersome parameters to work around.
To help Build up a structure and how shekind of navigates her reading so that
(07:23):
she can kind of follow that structured.
So, you know, cause you cankind of get lost when you're,
when you're trying to connect.
I mean there's endless amountsof information out there that you
can gain from the spirit world.
There's.
I mean.
You know, if you connect with oneof your family members, there's not
just one memory they have, they havea lifetime of memories, a lifetime
of experiences, not to mention that.
(07:45):
Part of what we do is we strive to,to validate that they're still here.
Even if they're physically nothere, they're still around seeing
the thousands of experiences thatyou're still having now to let you
know that they're still around.
So I've just beenguiding her through that.
So I had her work on me.
I have a, a, a.
(08:05):
A lot of people on the other side that, Ifeel like my loved ones on the other side.
And I have family members and friendsand, I do have a lot over there.
And I think they're aware nowof this role that I'm hosting.
So.
It feels to me that they'reaware that they're going to be
helping me work with people.
And Helping helping mehelp develop people.
(08:26):
So that's, that's actually been kind ofcool, so with one of my students, she
brought through a grandparent of mine.
One of my grandfathers that,does not come through very often.
And.
She just, she had so manypieces of evidence in detail.
It was, it was, it wasreally mind blowing.
and she.
(08:47):
Also brought through my, grandmother.
So one was paternal.
One was a maternal, so she had agrandmother from one side and a
grandfather from the other side.
So with my grandfather, she wasbringing through all this detail.
And she gave me a name, which endedup being the name of, one of his sons.
So that made sense.
(09:08):
I was able to make that connection, butit made me think, you know, I wonder what
my, my grandfather's middle name was.
I know I've seen it before,obviously at some point I've had
to see it, but my grandfather.
was a veteran and He went bya nickname, his whole life.
Everyone refers to him by his nickname.
And so, I obviously know himby his nickname and he passed
(09:31):
years before I was born.
So, um, I only know him through story.
But, I knew his nickname and I wasobviously then familiar with his
first name, but I didn't, I couldn'tremember what his middle name was.
So.
I sat there because I want tovalidate this information for her.
I, I go on to ancestry.com because I knowthat all the information's out there and
(09:53):
I go to look in his middle name is Arthur.
And I'm like, well, that's interesting.
Cause that's the name I wasgiven by my spirit guide.
And then she goes, and she'sconnecting with now my grandmother
from, the other side of my family and.
She just, she was like, I'm not gettinga lot of information, but all I keep
(10:14):
seeing is this woman with long redhair and she just kept describing.
Then what dawned on me was my otherspirit guide, Bridget, and then it.
Again dawned on me.
I'm like, one thing I rememberabout my grandmother is her hands.
Like she just have, I have her hands,my, my mom and I, you know, we all,
we have the exact same like nail beds.
(10:35):
Like it's just very similar.
So I just remit, that's likesomething very specific.
I remember about my grandmother.
And she also then talked about.
There was a shadow figure.
Like someone that was like a silhouettethat was standing behind her.
And so this was when she was talking, shewas more connected with my grandfather
at that time, which then would makemore sense with the Arthur connection.
(10:55):
so this whole thing was just fascinatingand, and she did a fabulous job.
So I.
It was just, it was, it wasa very fun experience to be
able to watch her work and.
to be able to have so much successand our first session together.
but then it just really had me thinkingafterwards, I had to really set with that.
Well, and I'll even share more.
So after we got done withour session, I joined.
(11:17):
As, you know, as I've said, athousand times, I'm part of spirit
school and in there there's anothermentor named Sharla and Sharla was
hosting a, a card poll, a meditation.
She does it once a month.
And I got done with my session and I wasable to join Charlotte's session online.
So I just jumped right on.
And lo and behold, she's hosting a sessionabout spirit guides and had led us through
(11:42):
a meditation about connecting with them.
And that's when I started gettingall this information that.
you know, It's more than a coincidencethat your spirit guides had so many
parallel connections to your grandparents,especially one that you never even knew.
So.
That was really interesting andjust really had me thinking about.
You know, what does that mean?
Does that mean that, youknow, that's who they are?
(12:05):
They are my grandparents.
Does it mean that they work?
With them or that they'relike versions of them.
I don't know.
And I'll, I'll neverknow that answer, but.
That's kind of the beautiful thingabout the spiritual journey is most
of these answers we'll never know.
We just have to make a guessand go with what feels.
It feels right and feels mostaligned with where we're at.
(12:26):
But it was just, it was just kind of abeautiful and mind opening experience
and made me feel a lot closer to them.
And honestly, Whoever theyare, whatever they are.
It was just a reminder thatI'm being supported in spirit.
You know, that's really thethat's really the brass tacks
of it all is I'm supported.
(12:47):
Here's, here's anothervalidation of connection.
Here's another, piece of evidence ofthe world in which you're working with,
which to me, the point of that wouldbe to let me know that I'm not alone.
And let me know that I'm.
I am being guided.
As we all are.
So, I have another student who'sa little newer on her journey,
(13:08):
still trying to unravel everything.
And, this is something I've beenhelping her kind of start with is
just connect with spirit guides.
So for those of you outthere that are new or are.
just kind of figuring all of this out.
I would suggest starting withconnecting with your spirit guides.
And again, it doesn't matter ifthat's it's your higher self.
(13:30):
If it's a past loved one, if it is, uh,some divine being that you feel very
drawn to and connected, just go with that.
There's, there's no harm in,in connecting and in helping.
build that relationship so that youcan kind of learn how your energy works
and how your gifts work and, bringin that guidance to help you on your
(13:52):
way, because it can be a very dauntingand confusing journey as we, as we.
Go on this path of spirituality and selfdiscovery is, you know, and a lot of
self-healing is what most of it really is.
you know, when I first started onmy journey, I, like I said, I very
much was focused on making sureI had this connection with them.
(14:14):
And then as time has gone on, I don't,I don't tune in that often besides
when I'm getting ready to do a reading.
so it was kind of a nice reminderthat they're still there that, you
know, even if I don't feel themall the time or even if I don't.
focus my energy there,that they're still there.
They're still workingwith me still helping me.
which that was, that was really nice.
(14:35):
So there are a lot of meditationsout there that, That you can
find that are like discoveryour spirit guide meditations.
so if this is something you'rewanting to build, that that would be
a place to start, obviously have somediscernment around, whose meditation's
your, your choosing or, you know,make sure whoever's offering that.
if someone you feel like, it makessense for you or you feel connected
(14:59):
with, or you feel, as a good is agood guide or teacher in that space.
But, and I know that's, that is howI first learned the name of mine.
I, I needed that assistance,that guidance through meditation.
That's another, that's another pieceof development is, I had no idea
how to meditate in the beginning.
And again, I had this list of ideas of,what that was supposed to look like.
(15:20):
And I was then just nervous aboutchecking those, you know, those things
off to make sure I was doing it right.
And I think that's just the naturalprocess of learning how to do it.
And then eventually you learn, likethere is not necessarily, there
really isn't a wrong way to do it.
It's you just got to findout how that works for you.
so it helped me doing a guided meditationto help discover my spirit guide.
(15:42):
So if that is something, you know, ifyou are like really wanting to learn
their name or figure out more aboutthem or connect with them, or deeply.
I would recommend that.
Uh, and then I know, in spirit school,there is a practice that Danielle
offered with like building up yourrelationship with your spirit guide.
And that was, that was reallyhelpful too, to kind of learn what

their energy feels like around you.
And.
And different tricks andtips on how to do that.
So,

So I just jumped right on.
And lo and behold, she's hosting a sessionabout spirit guides and had led us through
(11:42):
a meditation about connecting with them.
And that's when I started gettingall this information that.
you know, It's more than a coincidencethat your spirit guides had so many
parallel connections to your grandparents,especially one that you never even knew.
So.
That was really interesting andjust really had me thinking about.
You know, what does that mean?
Does that mean that, youknow, that's who they are?
(12:05):
They are my grandparents.
Does it mean that they work?
With them or that they'relike versions of them.
I don't know.
And I'll, I'll neverknow that answer, but.
That's kind of the beautiful thingabout the spiritual journey is most
of these answers we'll never know.
We just have to make a guessand go with what feels.
It feels right and feels mostaligned with where we're at.
(12:26):
But it was just, it was just kind of abeautiful and mind opening experience
and made me feel a lot closer to them.
And honestly, Whoever theyare, whatever they are.
It was just a reminder thatI'm being supported in spirit.
You know, that's really thethat's really the brass tacks
of it all is I'm supported.
(12:47):
Here's, here's anothervalidation of connection.
Here's another, piece of evidence ofthe world in which you're working with,
which to me, the point of that wouldbe to let me know that I'm not alone.
And let me know that I'm.
I am being guided.
As we all are.
So, I have another student who'sa little newer on her journey,
(13:08):
still trying to unravel everything.
And, this is something I've beenhelping her kind of start with is
just connect with spirit guides.
So for those of you outthere that are new or are.
just kind of figuring all of this out.
I would suggest starting withconnecting with your spirit guides.
And again, it doesn't matter ifthat's it's your higher self.
(13:30):
If it's a past loved one, if it is, uh,some divine being that you feel very
drawn to and connected, just go with that.
There's, there's no harm in,in connecting and in helping.
build that relationship so that youcan kind of learn how your energy works
and how your gifts work and, bringin that guidance to help you on your
(13:52):
way, because it can be a very dauntingand confusing journey as we, as we.
Go on this path of spirituality and selfdiscovery is, you know, and a lot of
self-healing is what most of it really is.
you know, when I first started onmy journey, I, like I said, I very
much was focused on making sureI had this connection with them.
(14:14):
And then as time has gone on, I don't,I don't tune in that often besides
when I'm getting ready to do a reading.
so it was kind of a nice reminderthat they're still there that, you
know, even if I don't feel themall the time or even if I don't.
focus my energy there,that they're still there.
They're still workingwith me still helping me.
which that was, that was really nice.
(14:35):
So there are a lot of meditationsout there that, That you can
find that are like discoveryour spirit guide meditations.
so if this is something you'rewanting to build, that that would be
a place to start, obviously have somediscernment around, whose meditation's
your, your choosing or, you know,make sure whoever's offering that.
if someone you feel like, it makessense for you or you feel connected
(14:59):
with, or you feel, as a good is agood guide or teacher in that space.
But, and I know that's, that is howI first learned the name of mine.
I, I needed that assistance,that guidance through meditation.
That's another, that's another pieceof development is, I had no idea
how to meditate in the beginning.
And again, I had this list of ideas of,what that was supposed to look like.
(15:20):
And I was then just nervous aboutchecking those, you know, those things
off to make sure I was doing it right.
And I think that's just the naturalprocess of learning how to do it.
And then eventually you learn, likethere is not necessarily, there
really isn't a wrong way to do it.
It's you just got to findout how that works for you.
so it helped me doing a guided meditationto help discover my spirit guide.
(15:42):
So if that is something, you know, ifyou are like really wanting to learn
their name or figure out more aboutthem or connect with them, or deeply.
I would recommend that.
Uh, and then I know, in spirit school,there is a practice that Danielle
offered with like building up yourrelationship with your spirit guide.
And that was, that was reallyhelpful too, to kind of learn what
(16:04):
their energy feels like around you.
And.
And different tricks andtips on how to do that.
So,
