How do we take someone who is kindof, they've outgrown the hustle.
(00:04):
It's like they're at that point whereit's no longer sustainable to operate
in that way, and yet they haven't fullysurrendered into that new stage and
that new evolution of flow and moreease and spaciousness and sustainability
(00:36):
Welcome back to SuperEntrepreneurs Podcast.
I'm your host Shahid Durrani, today we have with us Jason Moss.
a business coach who's built somethingimpressive, a multi six figure
coaching business that's all abouthelping entrepreneurs grow without
(00:56):
burning themselves out in the process.
You don't have to sacrificeyourself to scale your business.
Removing that trap of thinking biggermeans harder, more stress, less life.
doesn't have to be that way.
So it was great to haveyou on our show, Jason.
(01:16):
Oh, I'm so pumped to be here.
Thank you so much for having me.
Looking forward to diving in.
No, no, my pleasure.
. So you talk about building with clarityand alignment instead of grinding
it out, which I love because that'sexactly what we talk about here as well.
I. And with our students.
That's why I'm very muchexcited to speak to you.
(01:37):
But was there a moment when you hit awall and you just said, you know this,
done with this whole hustle thing.
I realize that there's more to whatI can do here than just hustle.
Well, I, the answer is yes.
And it started for mearound, probably around 2018.
I was running a online coachingbusiness and was, was doing well
(02:01):
on paper, making six figures.
We had served, I think, close toa thousand clients at that point.
We had like courses and things Iwas selling, but behind the scenes
I was working six days a week.
I was doing pretty much everything myself.
I was designing thumbnails on the weekend.
I used to joke to people.
I said, I used to tell people I'm thejanitor and the CEO, kind of jokingly.
(02:23):
But the, the truth was, I, I, I wasmanaging everything myself and very
much operating within this paradigmof, in order to scale or grow my
business, I had to work harder.
I grew up in a family.
I had a dad who, who made a lot ofmoney, but he worked really hard.
He worked six days a week.
He used to wake up every dayat four 30 and he went to a,
(02:45):
he was, he worked in banking.
He had a very traditional job,but he used to work on Sundays.
And so I had this model of, you can besuccessful, but it means you're gonna
have to work really hard to do it.
And recreated that in my own life.
And it took me a long time to, to, to beable to really unravel that programming.
And then to uncover a new way of being, anew set of beliefs and a new set of tools.
(03:11):
That I could bring into my businessthat allowed me to, to five x the growth
of that business, but do it in a waywhere I actually work a lot less, I
have more freedom and real freedom.
Not the freedom that I think, you know, many you see online where it's like, oh,
I'm sipping mojitos on a beach all day.
I still work, but I,yeah, I enjoy what I do.
(03:32):
I have time to spend withthe people that I love.
I get to make an impact and servepeople in a way that is aligned with.
My life and my body and my health.
And so that's what I'm really passionateabout you know, with entrepreneurs
today is how do we make that shift?
How do we take someone who is kindof, they've outgrown the hustle.
(03:52):
It's like they're, they're at that pointwhere it's, it's no longer sustainable to
operate in that way, and yet they haven'tfully surrendered into that new stage and
that new evolution of, of flow and moreease and spaciousness and sustainability
and how do we make that shift is, isreally the work that I'm here to do.
And what do you feel a person's or energyhas to do with making, you know, life
(04:22):
less hard or business less hard or things.
Flow much easier.
Do you have anything tosay about that aspect?
Yeah, well, it's the most important thing, and it's the thing that most entrepreneurs
spend pretty much no time thinking about.
You know, I,
Yeah.
so I, I have a, I have a mentor of mine.
(04:43):
He.
His name's Scott Alford.
He's a, he's a great business mentor andhe talks about how there are basically
these three levels of consciousnessand you, you talked about energy.
You could think of them as three levelsof energy, and I love this framework.
There's basically these three levels ofenergy that you can operate with them when
it comes to anything in life, but it'sparticularly useful I think, for business.
There's willful consciousness, there'sintellectual consciousness, and then
(05:07):
there's intuitive consciousness.
And so when you understand whatthese are, I, I found this so
illuminating for me, and it reallygave me a map for how to work with
energy differently in my business.
So willful consciousness, this isthe place that most folks are in.
I think as entrepreneurs, it'sthe, the hustle, it's the grind.
It's, it's the paradigm of.
(05:29):
Scaling or growing means working harder.
These are the folks that are gonnabe in the weeds, in the trenches.
They're putting in the effort.
They're not so concernedabout being strategic.
There might be an element of, you know, being strategic around it, but it's
more like, I'm just gonna get it done.
I'm gonna make it happen.
There's a lot of willful energy behind it.
(05:50):
You can tell oftentimes by like thelanguaging patterns that folks use, like
where they are in these three levels.
So this is the.
The do, it's the make.
It's the, my results comefrom my effort, mindset.
And there's nothing wrongwith any of these, these
three levels of consciousness.
It's just awareness, I think,to be able to know where you are
and then to be able to shift.
(06:11):
So that's the first paradigm and youcan create some success that level.
But folks who stay in thatlevel, generally burnout.
And this is where I was back in2018, doing everything myself,
working, you know, really hard.
Sure, yeah.
I'm sure you know, many entrepreneurscan, can relate to that.
So, so there's willful consciousnessand then at some point people
either burn out from that or theyhave a moment where they're like,
(06:34):
this isn't sustainable anymore.
I need a new way.
And there's this migrationfrom willful into intellectual
consciousness, which is kind oflike the second rung up the ladder.
Intellectual consciousnessis the realm of strategy.
It's the realm of working smarterinstead of working harder.
It's the person who, rather than goingout and grinding for 12 hours a day, is
(06:57):
gonna sit down and figure out a strategythat allows them to create the same
level of output with half of the effort.
Right?
So folks who are at this level generallythere's much more sustainability here.
It's a way of growing andoperating that is more aligned on
a deeper level with your energy.
It's also the realm of the mind.
(07:19):
It's not the realm of theheart or the intuition.
And so folks from this place, if you'reoperating exclusively from this place, I.
You can scale a lot more.
You can build a, a, a much moresuccessful and scalable business
in a way that's more sustainable.
But there's not a lot of life forceat this, at this level of energy.
There's there you folks, like when I,I spent a lot of time in intellectual
(07:40):
consciousness earlier on in my, mybusiness journey, and I, I, what you'll
often hear at this level is like, I builta really successful business, but it just.
It doesn't really feel like me or I justdon't feel like a sense of meaning or
purpose or I feel like I'm just kind ofgoing through the motions and everything
(08:00):
looks good on paper, but there's thiskind of juice or this aliveness that
that's, that's kind of lost in that.
And this is because we're,we're, we're in our head.
You know, we're, we're, we're buildingfrom our head instead of our heart.
So, nothing wrong withintellectual consciousness.
It's useful, it's valuable, butultimately I think the, the place that
that many folks start to migrate tois this third level of consciousness,
(08:22):
which is intuitive consciousness.
This is much more the realm of the heart.
It's the intuition.
It's doing the things that don'tnecessarily make sense on paper.
But you feel called to do.
It's it's, it's listening toa deeper level of wisdom and,
and truth within yourself.
And being able to lead and live lifefrom that place and, and folks who,
(08:44):
who are able to, to anchor into thatlevel of energy and consciousness,
build a business that not is, is notonly profitable, but is deeply aligned
and congruent with who they are.
And there's a magnetism in a, anattractiveness to someone when
they're operating in that energy.
You can feel it like when youread a piece of content, you.
(09:05):
See someone on video when they're inthat energy, there's something very alive
about them and that draws people in.
It creates this, this attractive forcein a business that can be a beautiful way
to scale and grow with a lot less effort.
And when we talk about how do we reallyget to the place where flow happens,
where we're feeling alive, when we feellike things are just happening in this
(09:26):
way, where we're not really in controlso much anymore, but there's this thing
that's happening through us, that's therealm of an intuitive consciousness.
So.
So these, these threelevels are so useful.
I found 'em so useful.
And credit to Scott for, for sharing that.
And, and I think the, the key is numberone, knowing where you are and then being
able to, to do the work to be able toshift between these different levels.
(09:50):
'cause it's not that that any of themare bad, it's more like where do we wanna
live and where do we want to build from?
And also what's useful, dependingon what we're trying to do.
Like, you don't necessarily wannabring intuitive consciousness into your
meeting with your tax advisor, but whenyou're visioning, you know, for the,
the next five years of your business,if you're in willful consciousness,
(10:12):
you're gonna build a prison for yourself.
So there's a lot to say on this, butthis is a simple framework that hopefully
can help folks when it comes to energy.
Yeah.
No, really good.
I appreciate that.
He simplified the whole ideaby breaking it down like that.
I'm grateful that youshared it on this show.
I feel that the third one, theconsciousness, the heart one I
(10:36):
would like to kind of make a littleshift if it makes sense from where
I stand, where I'm looking at it.
the third one, we wouldn'twant to use that when we need,
intellectual inputs, for example.
But I find It's like the foundationconsciousness, which allows the other
(10:57):
things to, happen So you remain in that, that place, and even when you're looking
at intellectual, you're just lookingat it from a different perspective.
Different view.
You're utilizing the gifts that we have, the knowledge that we have, whatever
we gained in our experiences, is from.
That baseline, if that,if I'm making sense.
(11:17):
So the, instead of the three, I wasthinking the third one is the baseline
that has the other ones in it,
Yeah, I think that's well said.
Yeah, absolutely.
The way I see it is the heart'sreally supposed to be in the driver's
seat, and most of us have our mindin the driver's seat in life, and
we wonder why things feel hard.
We feel like we're, it is likewe're pushing a boulder uphill.
(11:39):
Instead of flowing with life.
And so at least what I've found inmy own business is the more that I
can lead from that third level, andthen I bring in my mind to be able
to create, you know, some structurearound that and structure's good.
I'm not saying, youknow, we don't want that.
And then there's a level of,you know, willfulness at times
where it's like, okay, sometimesI just gotta get stuff done.
(12:00):
And the the balance is in place.
And again, to your point, it's likethe thing that's really in the driver's
seat is that intuitive consciousness.
That's when things work andthat's when there's a level
of sustainability and ease.
Yeah, there's flow to it and that'swhere we ultimately all want to be.
yeah.
And for me.
realize that, it just feltlike I was guided every moment.
(12:22):
You know, I went through a lotof difficulties and during the
difficulties, the difficulties werehappening during my transformation it,
it was like, what the hell's going on?
I'm doing this.
And it's still a lot of.
Chaos.
And I felt that it was because Iwas still in that energy, and it's
really hard to tell when you're
(12:43):
Hmm.
To really find it.
But the more you invest in.
The heart and the more you just befrom that place the solutions come,
the people come, the circumstancesshift, start shifting what you need.
And literally whenever I heard flowstate from people and I would, get me
(13:04):
more frustrated, because I would say, what the hell are you talking about?
Right.
flow state?
And I was
Yeah.
more different becauselike, where is this?
And I say, what are you
Right.
You're
Yeah.
me man, you little flow state.
But.
You know, honestly, the more I spentin my awareness, and that's part of
our framework, we call it the superframework, the more we remain in awareness
(13:29):
and being aware of the experiencesand what we're doing, the more we
fuse into that energy, into that vibe.
more easier I feel with experienceI was speaking about life, just
simplifying itself, making it like,it just literally feels like a puzzle
being put together in front of you.
(13:52):
Yeah.
also feel like sometimes youget multiple opportunities.
It's like,
Yeah.
one do you want to choose?
know?
And that's so beautiful.
And that's the passion you getwhen you experience that, is that
you want everyone to have that,
Absolutely.
everyone is ready for it.
You
Yeah.
I mean, it's.
people into it.
Yeah, it, and, and it has to happen, you know, when folks are ready.
(14:13):
And it also takes a deep level ofsurrender and letting go of control,
at least in my experience, which isthe hardest thing for the mind to do.
'cause it's like our mind wantsto, wants to control things.
It wants to have certaintyand, and a sense.
The, it's, it's driving the, the ship.
And so, you know, the more I'vebeen able to let go of that, and
(14:34):
it's a practice, it's a daily thing.
It's not, you know, it'snot an easy thing to do.
The more there's that level ofsynchronicity and the more that things
happen in a way that, that workswithout me necessarily having to be
the, the one making it all happen.
yeah, yeah.
Jason, thank you forcoming on our show, bro.
Yeah, yeah, of course.
(14:54):
I'm, I'm excited to getto talk about this stuff.
It's, it's the most importantthing I think we can all share.
So,
Yeah.
So wonderful.
So you work with people, you've been ableto help them cut their hours, make more
money which is exciting, for many people.
But can you share what you're doingwith them, for them to achieve.
(15:17):
Other than what we talked about, isthere anything else that you can share
where maybe there's a specific strategyyou put them through or some type of
information that could help someone, create a, a shift maybe experience
some of the flow state or some.
Ease that they can start doingafter watching this episode.
(15:39):
And obviously it's very importantto hire a mentor and you
know, to invest in yourself.
But right now, from this content, isthere something that you could share
that can help someone out there with this
Yeah.
Yeah.
So when I work with clients, there's a three step method
that I walk them through.
It's called the CEO Freedom Formula.
These three steps, this is basically whatwe're doing and this is how you create
(16:01):
more of that ease and flow and cut yourhours and all the things we make more
money, all the things we talked about.
So, three steps.
We, we kind of talked about step numberone, broadly today, which is CEO identity.
'cause I believe that all businessgrowth starts from the inside out.
So you change on the inside andthe outside will match that.
So what I'm typically doing with folksfirst is deeper identity work, where
(16:25):
it's, okay, well if you want to builda seven figure business, well we have
to, you have to be, become a sevenfigure entrepreneur on the inside first.
So some of this is levels of consciousnessstuff that we just talked about.
There's identity work.
So that's the first step.
The second step is, is probably, you know, a little bit more
practical for this context here, which is eliminate and leverage.
(16:48):
So when I look at what really createsstress and overwhelm for entrepreneurs,
oftentimes what it comes down tois they're spending a lot of time
doing things that don't need to bedone or shouldn't be done by them.
Now, on a deeper level, thereason they're doing that.
Is sometimes it's because they'restuck in willful consciousness
(17:08):
'cause they feel like they needto do everything themselves.
They don't wanna let go of control.
Sometimes it's because they're,they're operating within the identity.
Of a six figure entrepreneur tryingto build a seven figure business.
So that's where I think doing the identitywork is ultimately all these things
kind of take care of itself, but on apractical level, eliminate and leverage.
I mean there's, there's some reallysimple exercises that someone could
(17:30):
do to be able to identify those, thosehidden time sucks in their business.
One of the things I often havepeople do is just a time log.
And this is something everyone cando basically for a week or two weeks.
A week is usually a good amount of time.
You, you just print out like a log.
And the log should basically havethe hours of the day separated into
(17:52):
15 minute intervals, and throughoutthe course of a week, you just
write down what you're doing.
At every 15 minute intervalthroughout the day.
So, for example, you know, my day mightlook like I'm doing this podcast, so
I'd, I'd block off an hour for this andI'd block off an hour for doing some
content writing that I did this morning.
And, and at the end of theweek, you look at this log.
(18:14):
And you basically go through the log andyou, you ask yourself, okay, if I, I had
to pay somebody else to do each one ofthese tasks, how much would I pay them?
And so what most entrepreneurs find afterthey go through this is, and I, I do this
all the time, like every three monthsI'll, I'll do this, is we're just spending
a lot of time on stuff that we could paysomebody like 10 to $20 an hour to do,
(18:38):
or even $50 or a hundred dollars an hour.
And all this time is taking, you know,it is taking you away from the things
that you could be doing that couldactually make you a lot more money.
So just being able to look at thatand then have that awareness and then
say, okay, well how can I take someof these things off my plate and maybe
I hire a virtual assistant or someoneto be able to help me with this.
(18:59):
It's gonna free up a lot of time.
It's also gonna allow you toredirect that time back into things
that are gonna make you a lot moremoney that are also probably more
fulfilling and meaningful for you.
'cause they're a higherreflection of your, your genius.
So.
On a practical level, that's asuper simple exercise that anyone
could go through that will justmake a massive, massive difference
(19:21):
in terms of their, their journey.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, totally.
it's, it's just at the end of the day,it's clarity and it'll bring them the
awareness that sometimes we don't see.
Right.
We don't, we're not awareof the, of the time.
is being consumed by stuff that canbe easily done, you know, with, with
(19:41):
many of, even ai, there's so muchout there right now that you can
even just create your own tools wherethey can help you do a lot more.
It's a different time, you know, it'sa different time for entrepreneurs.
A really exciting time, actually.
don't have to.
Do a lot of things thatwe were doing before.
It allows us to be more intuitive, bemore heart-based leadership, because
(20:05):
by doing that we can be more presentand we can be more calmer technology
is coming to to support that.
Transformation or that shift
Yep.
in cautiousness worldwide.
So I really appreciate you.
I knew you were gonna be coolonce I saw your haircut, so it's
(20:25):
great that we're getting, like we
Yeah, that's right.
We got, we got instant rapportwith the the, the baldness.
Yeah.
ball is Did it?
Yeah, it sold it, you know, so but no, itwas great having you on the show today.
It was great chatting with you.
Definitely keep in touch if there'sanything else that you wanted to come back
about, to share with the audience or, evenif you wanted to do a live on this topic.
(20:51):
I'll love to chat because thisis the type of stuff that like
us can talk for hours about.
You
Yeah.
not.
It doesn't seem like work, you know, it's
Yeah,
just
absolutely.
Well, likewise.
It was, it was, yeah.
Appreciate it too.
It's a you know, it's a privilegeto get to share with your
audience, so thank you for that.
(21:12):
And I'm excited to see how thisripples down into the world and,
and the impact we get to make.
