(00:18):
Hello, everyone, and welcome to Superhero
Slate, the show where we run downthe latest superhero entertainment news.
We love TV, movies, superheroes, and our moms.
So let's talk it all out.My name is Chris.
My name is Mike.
And this week we've got Galactus Castro.
Fantastic Four. Mike.

(00:39):
Adam.
Believe it or not, you probably won't knowwho the guy is like me.
Believe it or not, Galactus isn't at home.
No, wait.
That's that's the that's the,
There was no superhero show that Costanzadid for Seinfeld first thing.
But anyway.
Well, we're going to talk about thisin a couple more, actually.
And more than Galactus added to this.
Supermansuit is has been revealed by James Gunn.

(01:02):
Mike to, ill, reception or good reception,
I don't know, we're going to talkabout that, later in the show.
Darth Jar Jar has been confirmed
for Star Wars a more.
I know this is funny because I wasn'tgoing to put this in here, but,
when a teaser includes Darth Jar Jar Mike,
I have to I have to lean into thata little bit because it's just so.

(01:25):
Yeah, you need.
You really need that.
So with Darth Jar Jar,that's really going to drive clicks.
Yeah I mean here all I'm going to do itDarth Jar Jar Binks.
And I'm going to actually type outhis full name. He's going to get the.
There you go.
I could use hey, I can't.
Do this time. Okay.
and more and more we got, we gotwe got a good episode for everyone today.

(01:46):
And as you mentioned, it's Mother's Day.
So happy Mother's Day to all you motherslistening out there to the show.
Yeah, mothers. Or soon to be,
I had a,
a panicked moment of I was like, well,
my wife is, I guessin the technical sense of the term,
a mother as we enter our third trimester.

(02:09):
And I was like, oh, we need to make surewe celebrate on Sunday,
but not as much as we would next yearwhen the baby's here.
so I, I'm in a new dynamic, Chris.
That's what I'm trying to say.I'm trying to navigate this.
yeah, I I've only had two.
I've only had to deal with, one mother in my whole life.
And now there's another oneliving with me.

(02:32):
So you know what they say.
You got to be flexible as you get older.
You got to prepare for life throws at you.
Yeah. And, now I have to figure this out.
I I'm just worried about the your cost of,card expenses over time going up.
Right?
Like, you know, all these holidays, coming up,
you got there, you know, you're going to have Mother's Day card.

(02:52):
You have, you know, extra birthday cardsfor your kid and all this other
weird stuff.
Graduations, you know, telling my wife, I'm
looking forward to the day when our childgains, like, a bit of sentience
and starts to kind of understand what,me and my wife like.
So, like when we have special holidaysthat come up, like birthdays or

(03:13):
Father's Day or Mother's Day.
Yeah, yeah.
And our kid wants to get us something.
I just can't wait to seewhat they attribute to us.
You know, like, oh, my,like, Father's Day is going to open up
and I'm going to be I'm going to be likeunwrapping like a 12
pack of like, Diet Mountain Dewbecause like, oh, dad likes this.
I'm going to get him this.
So custom label Diet Mountain Dew for not.

(03:34):
Only. Do they do they. Yeah.
They do it with M&Ms. Right.
When they do that with cans of Mountain.
DoctorPepper and Texas, at their main fact,
they let you make your own flavorof doctor Pepper using other ingredients.
I mean, you get to, like, create a label for your bottle.
Yeah.I would fly out of my way to try that.
Yeah, I I'm excited.
I, one of my wife's,

(03:54):
friends lives in Texas, and I'm like, how far away from where you live is this?
Texas is a small state, right?
We can get anywhere in about 30 minutes.
And they just look to me. I'm like,I'm joking.
I know Texas is a big city.
It can be literally any part of Texas.
But, they tell you. That went
the great for the great part about having,
visitors come into town, even if it's likea weird, specific request.

(04:17):
I always love itwhen people come and visit.
And there's a specific thingthat they want to do, because
then you don't have to figure out,you know, you know, how to fill the time.
So, like, if I was in Texasand somebody showed up, like,
all I want to do is go to the doctor
pepper bottling plant, I'll be like, you got it?
We're doing it.
Yeah.
I feel like that'sa very directed statement
at me, Mike, right now, because, it.

(04:38):
Wasn't supposed to be.
But this month
we're going to be taking a weekend offbecause I'll be visiting Mike.
But it's still it'sstill kind of works out in about a month.
Chris is coming out.
We're going to go to, Grand old DisneylandResort, California Adventure as well.
Chris will be ableto, to walk in Avengers Campus
because you have or haven'tbeen to Avengers Campus in Florida.

(04:59):
Yeah, I don't remember.
There's no Avengers Campus in Florida.
They don't have the rightsto Marvel in Florida.
I thought they were kind of buildingsomething.
Oh, I'm thinking of Guardians.
cosmic rewind. That's. Yeah, we did.
We did cosmic rewind. Absolutely.
But that's part of Epcot.
but they've not done anythingelse. Marvel.
Oh, I sorry, I, I was getting confused.

(05:20):
I think Paris has Avengers Campusright now.
I can't keep all these parksstraight. There's so many.
Well, and there's one of the Disney cruiseliners.
Is even a marvel Disneycruise liner, right.
So, like, oh, yeah.
Like, you. Can go anywhere.
Like half of those boats have, like, a
Ant-Man dining experience, which is just really funny to me.
Oh, you know, I'm excited.

(05:41):
Yeah.
Like to try the Marvel stuffyou mentioned Ant-Man dining.
Like, I want to do a Hank Pym cafeteria.
What it's called right out there. Yeah.
His, test kitchen.
There's, like, a giant pretzel there.
I believe there's, like,maybe a giant candy bar.
I can only remember the giant things.I'm like, is there anything?
There's got to be some small stuffthere, right?
Maybe they got, like, mini tacos or something, I don't know.

(06:01):
But, yeah.
People, I assume they'll make it largerbecause, you know, you know, at Disney,
the prices are not cheap.
They're just not that cheapadventure, all around.
So, like, if you just make it bigger, the dollar amount will seem worth it.
If you make it small.
People aren'tgoing to really associate value with this.
But I'm excited forfor for the Marvel stuff.
I do it. We do have some stuffwe like to do in California.
I'm always Mike.
Everyone here on the show knows thatwe're both foodies. I've not had,

(06:26):
you know, one of the burger placeout there.
Golly. I'm slipping.
in and out. In and out.
I want to say five guys don't make a stop.Five guys don't say that.
We got out.
Yeah, well, we got that In-N-Out.
Do you guys have Whataburger out there or.
No. No, that's that's kind of the one.
Las Vegas seems to be the apex right nowwhere you can get,
like, literally every burger.

(06:47):
I kind of mapped it out and I was like,if somebody I wanted to do like
the ultimate, like burger test showdown, you just got to fly to Vegas and get like,
like half a dozen PPAsand send them all off to all the burger
restaurants and once, and then have them bring it back to you.
Exactly.
I think, Shake Shack I had out there,I've never had Shake Shack before.
we've been in San Diego,so I'm excited for the food experiences.

(07:10):
the chain's even, it doesn't have to be,you know.
Oh, this is only unique to to California.
I'm sure there's dozens of restaurantsunique to California.
But we were also talking for the show.
I kind of want to build a lightsaber.I want to have.
We have a lot a lot of ideas.
So we're going to be ironing those outthe next month.
Now that,
our flights have been purchased and,
you get to hang out with Mikefor a little bit, but

(07:31):
despite it being in person,we will not be recording that, that we can
because that's it's fun.
I like doing this with you, Mike, but if we're together,
we don't need to be recording a showbecause that's just
that's just work at that point. So.
Well, a little summer break in in June.
but let's go ahead and shift some gearsin what we've been doing.
Mike, I want to tell you the storybecause you're interested,
the game Marvel Rivals, which is essentially an Overwatch clone,

(07:54):
with Marvel characters, dropped a closedalpha test this week.
I feel so silly because you were bringingthis up in the group chat
over the last couple days, and my brainhad just forgotten what it was.
It wasn't until, like, maybe four hours ago did
I connect the name with, like, the concept art that we looked
at a couple weeks ago and I was like, oh,they're talking about that Marvel game.

(08:16):
Oh, okay, I understand why I sawexclamation points the other day now.
Yeah. So. Absolutely.
Marvel rivals, it's a close alpha test.
You a lot of people submitted itand they only gave out,
you know, a couple thousand codes.
Like, not a lot of codes to get into this
because again, it's closedAlpha not not a beta.
And, very limited characters.
But the way you could get more codesis if you follow streamers on Twitch

(08:38):
and you, they give you codes and essentially,
you know, you know how Twitch streamers work,
like you, you interact with them, you get entered in, they pull names.
And, for the past couple nights,I've been seeing if way past my bedtime,
watching, like for, like,Twitch streams live in my thing
and was, like, bouncing back and forthbetween them,
trying to understand I'mwatching the game.
I want to watch the game play place.
Understanding the codeI'm watching, watching

(08:59):
people have a lot of funwith these characters. And
but 1:00 last night, I was like, all right, 1:00 to my last one.
I've got three people pulling codes here.
I failed on one. Went to the other.
didn't get a thing. The third one, someone else got drawn.
They weren't in the chat.
He read you again.
Boom. My name came up, mike.
So out of everyone who had submitted into win this in raffle,

(09:21):
my name was pull for a close alpha testlast night, and I was able to download it
and play it today for a little bit
and, well, if you're not familiar withI want to.
Hear your impressions here. yeah.
So I've only played three matches.
I played, the limited roster of charactersI've played
is Rocket Raccoon and, my two charactersso far.
Rocket raccoon is a, support character.

(09:43):
He has an ability where he can,
I guess it's a combined ability.
Team abilitywhere he can hop on group shoulders
and you can ride Groot in the battlein groups of ten character,
so I can heal and shoot peoplewith, my big machine gun.
I can do damage the villainto the other team, or I can heal people.
So I'm a healer, right?Very support based,
having a lot of fun with him. Playing him.

(10:04):
we won the first round.
did not do so well the second round. And then I switched over to hella.
Hella is just appear like
she's throwing those, like, big spearsthat we saw in the movies and people.
Right, right.
and, you know, getting headshots.
And she has a couple powerful.
But she's really, agileand really kind of powerful.
But I couldn't I couldn't quite get the, vibe of her, like, launching projectiles

(10:25):
because, like,
you know, a regular gun in the gameis hitscan like, you point, you shoot,
you hit them. Right?
And this one, there's, like,a little bit of a lob on these, things.
So I wasn't getting it yet,but I was having a lot of fun.
There's two different modes. One is you.
It's like a king of the hill is a point.
You hold the point for as long as you can.
whoever has, gets to 100% wins around.
Pretty basic, right?
The other one is there's a movable chariotfrom Asgard with, like,

(10:49):
the the horses and chariot,
and you have to stick your teammateson the chariot moves a chariot.
The other team is stopping you from movingthe chariot, so it swaps back and forth.
Just like if this sounds like Overwatch,it's just like Overwatch.
there are two maps.
One is Asgard, and then one is a,
a, Spider-Man 2099kind of Tokyo, looking thing.
That's cool.Spider-Man references in there.

(11:11):
The environments are destructible, but then they also come back as like
part of like, the lore, like Asgard. You just saw this.
But Loki has magic built into repair his kingdom after so long.
So, like, you know, things wallscould come back after you destroy them.
It's been pretty fun watching that.
I really want to play Star-Lord next.
He's a very quick, shooter.
got his jet boots, can move aroundreally fast and do that.

(11:32):
I've seen a lot of people be, play DoctorStrange.
He's got a big magic shield.
And Magnetois another kind of tanky character.
There's been a lot of really interestinggameplay mechanics and stuff in that.
And one of the interestingcharacters, Mike,
they have difficulties on howyou can play them
in the hardest difficulty characterso far.
Pfizer.
It's the only five star characterin this alpha test is Spider-Man.

(11:54):
And, is because he moves so fast,
you have to be able to, like, whip your character around and be, like,
able to, like, web and beat people upand then zip away just as quick
because he's not going to takea lot of damage. Right?
He but he can deal some out. So,
if youguys haven't noticed, watch this yet.
Twitch, YouTube, whatever.
go check it out cuzI'm having a lot of fun.
But, you know, I really, hashtag blessedMike to get into Marvel Rivals.

(12:18):
Yeah, I will not for this.
I will definitely not discount your fun.
And I'm sure all of the effortthat went into make this game.
But I feel like with all like, kind of online competitive
Marvel things as of recently,or I guess even DC things,
if we are still talking about this gamethis time
next year, I will be impressed.

(12:41):
Like I will be like, wow, they really hit a surge.
You know, they've they've grownand they've added more,
and I'm not saying it's not a great game, but that I feel like that
is the challenge of like having somethingthat people still want to play next year.
You know.
The one thing with meis this game's out now.
Again, it's a closedalpha test. It's not fully released.

(13:01):
We don't know when it's going to release.
So, that would I think that'sgoing to be the big thing, if it's free
to play and also hits consoles currently, the alpha test is on PC.
This is going to come to consoles.
I pretty sure it will. that will be huge.
They're going to make their moneyon skins.
Some of the skins in this alpha test, you get some points
you unlock in the battle pass, which is free.

(13:21):
You make back. It's going to be great.
I really like the Overwatch.I played Overwatch for several years,
before some other games came along.
So I think the gameplay loop is there, and I think it would be interesting
to see how quicklythey can add characters to the roster.
Right?
We played the Marvel Avengers game, and the biggest thing about it
took them forever to add charactersto that, right?
Like every time, like, oh,

(13:42):
this is just another clone of a reskinof another character kind of thing.
so I'm like, well,if they can add more characters to this,
and I think, yeah, this will tap into the South Korean
gaming market, because obviously that'swhere a lot of money is.
And the company that makes thisNetEase is out of South Korea.
I think that it's going to havea bigger life cycle than we expected

(14:03):
because there's a lot of mobile gamesI forget about,
like Marvel FutureFight, Marvel Contest of Champions,
puzzle quests like those games on phonesare just rocking
and rolling, and I don't thinkthere's people in America at this point.
I really think it's like that, that
the South Korean, possibly even Japanesemarkets playing those mobile games.
So I think if you can tap into morethan the Pulse of America.

(14:24):
Absolutely.
to do this, I really think that, you know, there's been a weak
roster of characters, but I think, you know,
if they can, if they can bring outmore and more and more
and make them different haveand people are having fun with it,
I think that's where it's goingto kind of come together, as well.
But I hope that I hope they announce, after this test is done,
they take some feedback, they get the feedback, make some changes

(14:45):
to another like of like a closed betaand then probably after that do a,
you know, maybe an open beta, but like, really get us to a release date because
my thing against Mike and you might agree, you can announce a trailer, right?
Like the blade trailer
we got a couple weeks agofor, like, when they're in Paris.
But, like, that game'slike coming out for three years.
What do I have to go on?

(15:06):
What hope do I have to go on? Yeah.
And I and I, you know,
and say we're going to talk about whythey put the trailers out a little early.
Is that. Yeah.
I was going to say because I, I told,I told Chris, about this
a couple weeks ago, I had a chance to chatwith somebody who worked at,
Warner Brothers games and, you know,
was just asking him what he was workingon, what he was rolling over onto.
And he kind of told me one thingthat I was surprised is the

(15:28):
the reason we get some of these, liketeaser trailers or announcements of games
so early ahead in the lifecycle of like,oh, development is starting is apparently
it's a really good recruitment toolout there in the world of games.
you know, you announce these gamesand you try to steal talent,
or maybe there's peoplekind of floating out there in the world

(15:48):
looking for their kind of next gig,and you're like,
hey, you want to come work for WarnerBrothers Studios?
Like, hey,we're making a Wonder Woman game.
Do you want to get in on this?
So, I always thought that was kind offunny, too, just like, yeah,
why are they teasing this so early?
Like, I would go crazy.
I mean, thisI kind of already happens now, but,
you know, a marvel movie gets announcedso many years ahead of time,
and she's like, when's this thing going to be out already?

(16:10):
But at least with movies and, franchise,
there's other filmsleading up to it, right?
You know, it's just like Secret Warsmight be like so many years away,
but at least we have, like, you know, 5 or 6 more movies.
Until then, it's just like,
oh, we're announcing this video gameand you'll hear nothing from us for years.
but yeah,I think that's kind of interesting.
And I think, I think this closedalpha test might be in the same vein,

(16:34):
to be completely honest. Right.
Like, hey, we've got this, this core down,we've got a small group here.
We've we'remaybe we're 40% done with this game.
We need more help.We need to get this done.
Maybe the Alpha test will also be like, hey, we're proving we're doing it.
Maybe they're looking to hiresome people internally as well. So,
a lot more, angles on this
stuff than we would normally think of itas regular and consumers.

(16:55):
But Mike, what have you been up to this week?
And I, I can talk Marvel rivals all day
and I've only played literallylike three hours of it this morning.
So, but, I've watched more than that.
But but what have you been up to?
Well, one thing that you could do
while you're playing video games, especially like, one online game,
is listen to music and there'sthis, new band I've been listening to.
And normally I wouldn'tlike plug music on this show, but there's,

(17:18):
this group out therecalled The Wolves of Glendale,
and they're this hilarious, comedy band,
and they've recently put out an album, and I knew about them
because they would do like, these, like, fun, like
little songs or skitsand put them up on TikTok.
So I finally decided, oh,I should go find them on Spotify

(17:38):
and actually listen to a fullsong of their, because I've only kind of
like seen these, like, little gags that they've done on social.
And this album,I believe it's just self-titled
Wolves of Wolves of Glendaleis it's just absolutely hilarious.
Like, not only is like the musicalityjust like really, really good.
Like it's solid music,like it's there's kind of like,

(18:00):
there's differentkind of like vibes for each song.
Like they're not just like paradinglike styles, but, you know,
they're alsoparodying stories in it as well.
But there's like some great, like 80s influence at the beginning.
There's like a songat the end of the album
that sounds like exactlylike a Daft Punk song.
but it's not like, you know, Weird Al,who will parody things that already exist
as they were just making up these songsoff the top of their head,

(18:22):
and they're just great.There's it's wonderful.
There's the the first song on the album
is called Vaping in Vegas, all about a like, kind of like a murderer.
That's like escape from prison.
And he's like, living in Vegas.
And there's like another one where, like, you just you're your roommates, a ghost,
and then you start dating and then, like,
your mom's really confusedwhy you're dating a ghost.

(18:43):
So they go all over the spectrum.
There's a there's, like a metal songwhere the only lyric in the entire song
is just the word shrimp.
So they're all over the place, but it's like, it's so addicting.
Like,I don't know why, like, comedic songs
like, just really earworm into my brain.
it's very similarto, like, Bo Burnham's last album inside.

(19:05):
so if you.
Yeah, if you were a fan of, like, BoBurnham's Inside,
this is kind of a definitely wackierthan that, for sure.
But yeah, go check out Wolves of Glendale.
It's I would say this is maybe more likeBo Burnham's first albums, right?
When he was kind of like, yeah. Yeah.
It's a show called World on Fire.
And then he just screams themes, right?
Like, like, yeah,I've seen these guys several times.

(19:26):
They remind me, like, ever modernacts of awesome.
Remember when they did, like the four chord song back?
Like, you know, 15 years ago, like, theseguys are very musically talented, right?
You know, they got a drummer, keyboardist, guitarist, and,
you can tell they're having funand they do it with such seriousness.
I think that sells it to meright when they were like,
we believe that this is funny.

(19:47):
And, you know, it's a nodto wink at downs, but like, it's not like,
hey, like, you don't have to, like, nudgeyou with their elbows and say it's funny.
Like it is just naturally funny. Yeah.
Looks like they're on tour right now.
They're going to be in Lollapaloozain August.
Then they're going, over the pondinto the United Kingdom and, Ireland.
So if you're, listening on the otherside of the globe, check them out.

(20:10):
Yeah. They're great.
They they were, unfortunately, this shows my age.
we had a friend reach out to us, like,oh, do you want to go see these guys?
live?
And I looked, I was like,a Wednesday night starting at 930.
I was like, I am sorry, that is too late
for me on a Wednesday.
but I'm jealous.

(20:31):
I wish, I wish I would, I would be there.
I'd be like, yeah, absolutely.
Calling off Thursday right now. but no,
I, I,
I'm not a TikToker, but I do see them onreels much later like everybody else.
Yeah.
Go, go take your moms to go see thethe Wolves of Glendale.
They'll love it.
Yeah.
So send them a reel. Like,I saw this and thought of you.

(20:52):
I did get my mom a cardthat said, you know, good moms.
You know, the kids like the,
blender.
The mixer.
Oh. Wait, are you Chris?
I literally got my mom this same card.
I was just about to sayI forgot the one that I mailed my mom.
but then you started describing it.
I was like, no, I sent the same one.

(21:13):
I wonder if it's the literal same cardbecause, like, the the the I,
the concept of the card, you know, isI would say it's something familiar.
So I don't know if there's any otherlike versions of the card,
but it was, it blew.
I feel like the outside of my card.
Was blew, my mind was red,and it was a, a double fold.
So it kind of accordion a little bit.

(21:33):
okay. Mine wasn't accordion.
I think it was like
it was a single kind of standard card, but it was the same thought.
Yeah.
and I think I custom wrotesomething in there about like.
Oh, I wonder how much, you know, raw
cookie doughyou let me eat or something like that.
Yeah. It on the inside. Same page.Got a good bounce.
Turn them off first.
That was the punch line.
So, yeah, I feel, you know,we haven't done this show

(21:55):
for ten years, Mike, without at leasthaving a little bit of familiarity.
So. And also, we should, let the listeners know that we're both
simultaneouslydrinking Mountain Dew, Mountain Dew, Zero
sugar, purple Thunder.
It's delicious.
my wife is not even a huge MountainDew person,
but she kind of leans towardsgrape flavored things.

(22:17):
And I don't think this is necessarilygrape flavor because it says berry plum.
But I mean, it's purple, you know,I mean, artificial is artificial.
Yeah.
These artificial fruit flavors, it'snot like they're ever
accurate to what you're actually eating, but there's grape adjacent vibes to this.
It's good.
So yeah.
So thethe Purple Thunder has been out in circle

(22:39):
K exclusive for a year, maybe two years now.
they've opened it up to other storesand they released a zero version.
So bonus for usif I could give a shout out to,
our other, Instagramchannel superhero snack I've been trying
to post on their regularlybecause we are in just a summer of flavor.
I do have to tell Mike I don't.
I don't like the.
I told him myself it hurt him.
I could feel and hurt the my messages.

(23:01):
The new Lay's, the Garden Fresca, did not care for as much as you do.
Just it's a shame. Flavor at the end
and like, I don't dunno how to explain it,but it's green.
I mean, I guess you know,you can't make we're past that.
We're past the inventionof the potato chip now by so much
that any new flavor is not going toplease everybody.
But I do feel like that

(23:22):
salsa Fresca flavor is the closest chipI've had in a while.
That feels like, add it to the rotation.
Like, oh, this could be like a,this could be a solid flavor
that standsthe test of time and is with us forever
because it's not doing anything too crazy, because I think the downside
of some of these novelty chipsis when you bite into them,

(23:44):
you're just thinking of,oh, this is supposed to be something else.
Like, oh, I'm, I'm supposed to be thinkingI'm eating like
barbecue chicken pizza,or like ribs or something like that.
And like, I can't enjoy itbecause I don't feel like I'm
eating a potato chip, but like that, you know, salsa is kind of a chip
adjacent thing to begin with. You know.
They they've Willy Wonka that I get itright, like, you know.

(24:07):
Oh, this, you know, this is a Thanksgiving dinner chip.
And you're like, no, not really.
At the end of the day,too much going on here.
Like the BLT ones I had recently, they were fine.
They they're not really overly bacon.
They're not really overly anything else.
So you just kind of like a mid barbecuewith the mid Cuban sandwich
flavor when they have I've got likefour bags of Doritos for flavor.
Serious. My wife is going nutsthat I've not opened them yet.

(24:29):
I'm like,I can't so open all these chips, man.
I got to go through my chipsone at a time.
but I've got like, you know, jumping jack cheese,
Doritos,
mystery,Flamin Hot Doritos and stuff like that.
So we are in this in the summer flavors.
do you like tart drinks, Mike?
Like, a little bit of a tartness to it.
Yeah. I mean, I'm down for it.

(24:50):
Anything liquid? The Powerade.
three.
Powerade, is a blue with greenand a pink one.
And, they're sours, Powerade sours, and, they have a little bit of a tartness.
they're not like, pucker your mouth sour, but they got a little bit to it.
And I'd recommend those if you liketo, to change up your, your sports,
you know, sugary workoutdrinks at the end of the day.

(25:12):
So I highly recommend those.
But yeah.
Anyway fun food without food.
Next let's get into Legos.
The other thing we lovejust as much as we make Legos and, Lego
Star Wars has a new short coming out laterthis year called Rebuild the Galaxy.
And, in this is kind of essentially awhat if mixing like a,
you know, there's a Tie fighterslash X-Wing if they were merged together

(25:34):
kind of thing.
And, you know, a bunch of kind of likewhen you have Legos in your imagination.
And Mike, I know you're
you're a person who would build your Legosand then take them apart, right.
And put them, put. Them, yes. In their bags.
But like this.
If we were truly kidsand we didn't care about this,
this is people who would like,oh, I've got this Lego set, this Lego set.
What can I merge togetherto make whatever I want?
So this is sounds like the show.

(25:55):
or. Sure,it looks like somebody just merged
a bunch of Star Wars ideas together, and then at the end of it,
we get the reveal of DarthJar Jar Binks in Lego form.
Yeah.
I wonder this is like, this is like a two toned,
trailerin a way of like, it feels very toy attic.
Where am I going to be going down the Legoaisle this summer, and I'm going to see
these mashed up Star Wars like vehiclesfor sale, which I'm not mad about.

(26:18):
I think that's, like, super cool.
and I would enjoy it.
see, you know, kind of how that comestogether, like on the front of the box.
And then the other half of it is likekind of what Lego does second best outside
of being a toy, which is like lampooningIP, which is crazy.
That's not not somethingwe ever thought it would be.

(26:39):
it did an amazing job with, Lego Batman.
I should have watched Lego Batman again. That movie is so good.
Oh, yeah, and I always forget about it.
And it's always leftout of the conversation when, like, Batman
movies are ranked.
I totally forgot to say itat the top of the show.
I just rewatched for the first timein probably literally decades.
It might have been 20 yearssince I've seen this movie.

(27:01):
Batman and Robin, the George Clooney live action.
You were the
you were the third person this weekto tell me about Batman and Robin and I.
Yeah,I don't know. I don't like these odds.
I don't like I got
I don't know if, like, Max is, like, juicing the, recommendation algorithm.
I don't know how I ended upcoming past it,
but I was like,I'm going to give it a watch.
And it's so wild watching it now as an A,not just as an adult, but,

(27:23):
you know, with all of like the cultural context
that we have around superhero moviesand everything.
I can't believeI never really recognized it
when I was a kid, but Batman and Robinis just a live action cartoon.
Everything about it is so cartoonish
that that's probably whyso many people like, turned away from it

(27:45):
when it came out, because they were kind of used to like,
you know, trying to adapt thiscomic book character, you know, you know,
to the live action and kind of make itat least somewhat seem real.
I mean, Nolan and,I guess Matt Reeves have made it
seem the most realistic, but this was like, this is like a cartoon.
Even the way that they talk, itjust feels like, oh, this should have just
this script should have just been animatedand nobody would have blinked.

(28:09):
And I would be like,oh, this is a fun, like, Batman story.
Well, I think I think it alternatewith Batman Forever.
I think, you know, when you go from Batmanand Batman Returns,
like those dark Burton esque onesand then like, okay, Joel Schumacher,
you're continuing this story, albeit withdifferent, you know, Batman characters.
but it's still set in the same universe.
And then they go from, you know,Batman Forever, which I will always say,

(28:31):
I love Carrey, Lee Jones like Jim Carrey, they were both, told, hey, do Two-Face
if he was a Joker and do the Riddlerif he was a Joker kind of thing.
in that movie and, you know, and alsowhat's what's Robin's name in this movie.
Chris.
oh, God.
The actor or the the.
Yeah. The actor. Yeah.
The actor. The actor.Oh, God. It's like. Right.

(28:51):
He's 30 years old.
He's supposed to be a 17 year old orphan, but he looks 30 years old going.
Oh, he supposed to be 17 and Batman.
Yeah.
No, in the first one,
he's like skipping school or somethinglike that, like in Batman Forever.
Like.And I don't know how. That's kind of.
That's weird because, they, they make Batman
and Robin very horny in the moviethat there's one thing that I forgot.

(29:12):
The bat nipples and ivy.
Yeah, well, yeah. Exactly.
And, it's funny, I forgot
how long the camera atthe beginning lingers on them shooting up.
There's at least almost 24frames of just their asses
at the beginning of the movie.
And, they they are so horny.
Through Alicia Silverstone.
Yeah, it's a disaster.

(29:32):
It's a disaster piece.
But, you know,
it did actually come backat the end of The Flash,
if you remember, because it did bring back.
oh, yeah, the Batman.
But if I had to, if I had to summarize it,I love Batman and Robin.
Now, way more than I did back in the day, because I can just I can look at it
more as like a lark. And it's so much fun.

(29:53):
I love how big everything is,like how silly it is.
Like Mr.
Freeze has all of these henchmenfor some reason
that follow him, and they're always coldand they always have ice skates.
It's just so stupid.
And then, Batman and Robin don't even know
they're about to, startan altercation with Mr.

(30:13):
Freeze, and they happen to have, like, ice skates in their boots.
It's amazing.
but all that being said, bringing it back to Lego Batman, then
bringing it back down, to, Lego.
I, I watched like the,the the the time travel one.
I've only watched one of these Star WarsLego special.
And like the first one that was like, yeah,

(30:33):
it tried to be too serious like thatfirst one did.
And this one
literally looks like like you mentioned,is lampooning Star Wars, right?
Like, oh, hey, what if the generationshave lightsabers instead of like, what
if the the e walks were the bounty huntersinstead of little tree bears
at the end of the day?
So what if.
We realize the Darth Jar jar?

(30:54):
Yeah. Dark jar.
And that is the funny thing, because, like, that makes me feel like,
you know, whoever wrote this has been
given some freedom to, like, all right, do whatever you want.
with this.
And they have the the cognizanceto be on the internet be like,
people want to see Darth Jar Jar.
It'll never be legitimized.
But we can put it in thisand it will be fun
because we had the opportunity to do so.

(31:14):
And I love that about that.
Someone be like, okay, they're going to do that.
And it's funny because I watchedThe Phantom Menace about a week
ago, a week and a half agonow, a week in three days.
And my wife, we were getting married.
So I was like, she's like,it was always Darth Jar Jar.
And then this came out and like, wow,
this is just between this and Batmanand Robin hitting my mind this week.
I don't know what's going on, man.
Like I am, I'm just all over the place.

(31:36):
But, yeah, Lego Lego shorts are fun.
Lego games are fun.
I'm glad they're doing this.
And also, again, like I mentioned lastweek in fortnight, maybe two weeks ago.
there's a whole Legothings in fortnight now, so you can go
have some fun with that.
watch the trailer link in the show notes.
Moving on to Marvel, Mike,I shared this with you, yesterday.
there is a, we always talk about rumors, and when we talk about rumors,

(31:59):
we talk about these quoteunquote scoopers.
And these scoopers are always, you know, taken with a grain of salt.
Right?
Like we say, we dothe best we can for reporting,
but we always say,if it's not true, it's a rumor.
if it's not officially from the word we,we try to say this is rumor as much as we
can, but, finally, after sometime,
Marvel, and the VP of Marvel, like legal, has issued

(32:20):
a DMCA subpoena for the leaker account.
Can we get some toast?
Who was known for leaking a lot ofor at least
postulating a lot of rumorsand stuff about the MCU?
whether it be at that moment, things that change can change, whatever.
But this is because I think in April, they shared that photo
of Captain America's new suit revealbefore it officially came out.

(32:43):
And you might think, Mike,
you know, looking at a suitthat was nothing huge, right?
Nothing was spoiledby looking at Captain America's outfit.
Right.
McDonald's has those toys in their storeright now with his outfit on it.
But yeah, the thing with that is with an image
that is actually not owned by them, that open them up to a DMCA
takedown, rather than just postulatingrumors and speculation.

(33:07):
Because when you own a
when you post
prerelease contentthat's owned by, a corporation
that opens you up to lawsuitsand that's where that came from.
You know?
Yeah, it makes me,it makes me wonder, how much of the
they kind of have to risk, like, the Streisand effect here, right?
You know,
they're putting all of this, light nowon this user that I didn't know existed.

(33:28):
I didn't know about.
Can we have some, can we get some toast?
but now I do.
So, is Marvel going to be able to kind of,
like, clip their wings and remove thempermanently from the internet now?
I guess it depends on whatcan you actually get from the subpoena?
Like, are they going to actuallyget any sort of identifiable information?

(33:48):
If they do, can they do anything with it?
You know, and also,I guess we have to consider the fact
that if somebodyis getting this information,
is it somebody on the inside,I'm always impressed.
Really?
How much information? Kind of.
We don't end up knowing about thingsbecause these huge

(34:08):
Hollywood movies,gigantic collaborative effort, right?
So many people involved, like we've gotten our own scoops
in the past before from like, costumeadjacent department of things.
So it's like they can come from anywhere.
And I'm always surprisedhow much, we don't know about a film

(34:30):
before it comes out.
But I do have to say I go out of my waynot to read it.
So maybe there is more out therethan I can come across.
I, Yeah, to me, thisthis person is familiar.
I'm familiar with her account.I don't I don't follow their accounts.
So, you know,I get I'm not doing this stuff.
but, you know,
some people, it used to be, were leakers, used to have a throwaway account.

(34:50):
They post a rumor on throwaway accountand leave.
Right.
but some scoopers have made itlike a their personality on the internet.
Like some people even have, paywallsand, like, subscription services.
I think there's I forget the guy'sname is Schneider or something like that,
but like, he's like, oh, got these rumors.
Like he's an insider,but someone's telling him
and he puts it behind a paywall.

(35:10):
But as long as he doesn't show anything, that's not his is also rumors.
But as you mentioned, films are huge processes that take months,
if not years with different departmentswho are isolated,
who don't get to see the final thingat the end of the day.
So like, where do leaks come from?
How fresh are they?
You know, are they even relevant these days?
you know, when something comes out.
But this person came againeven sharing stuff today, Mike, like

(35:31):
even after this DMCA was sent, you know, on Friday or Saturday,
they're still posting things after court,so they probably don't see any,
and I
guessthey may either be using a very nice VPN,
maybe they're out of countryand are subject to DMCA laws.
or like, you know, subpoena lawsand that Disney is looking for.

(35:51):
But it looks like they're tryingto make an example out of some of these,
bigger Marvel leakers,if you will, at the end of the day.
So, we will I'm, I'mgonna I'm gonna keep you posted.
This one plays outbecause I'm interested to see how it goes,
because we do get some of our rumors, from them as we, as we use that,
sad news.
This, this weekend, Roger Corman,a, very highly

(36:16):
esteemed to be listmovie director, passed away at age 98.
And, a lot of people were like,I didn't even know he was still alive.
he hasn't done anything lately, but, like,he was, you know, famous
for making a lot of movies in, like, three days, and just doing, like,
first shot go kind of thing, andand just cranking out these B-list movies.

(36:37):
I know I had to watch this stuffwhen I was in bad films.
he did the first Little Shop of Horrorsbefore the, the musical, came on later.
Jack Nicholson, he discovered JackNicholson there. I know a lot of.
Let let me let me read offjust a couple titles here to prime people.
I just, did a quick, Roger Corman Google.
we're looking at attackof the 50ft cheerleader.

(37:01):
shark to push, Dino croc, Super Gator.
this one's just called Raptor.
Well, I would I would say you'reprobably reading this newer stuff.
I would probably go back like pre 2000slike that.
Yeah. He's 98 this year.
Like I would go back before he was 70.
I don't know how much directing he'sbeen kind of lately.

(37:22):
carne a saurus in the heat of passionFrankenstein unbound.
They're all back in the day, but,
man, a lot of people, you know, might not have,
you know, high opinions of his work, but the fact that anyone in
Hollywoodcan work an entire career up until,

(37:43):
God, maybe 2017, I think is the last movieI see on this list.
I mean, that's an accomplishment.I don't care what anyone says.
Yeah, exactly.
And we watched his movies A Bucketof Blood and Little Shop of Horrors.
again, pretty Musical is based on this movie.
and then he would just do the first take, and he's great.
But I will say, related to the show,he was the producer

(38:04):
on the 1994 Fantastic Four moviethat was never released.
He was, very involved with that,
making sure it was like a low budgetkind of thing,
but obviously it was never released, sadly.
But, you can find it.
Now's the time.
I'm sure he bequeathedsome of his things to family.
I mean, pull out that Betamax tape, whatever
film reel, stock it'son, and get that on the internet.

(38:25):
Archive for us.
The, rumor is, for that movie, by the way,is that I think it was,
maybe Abbey bought all the copies
of the tapes that they had, like, you went over and burned them.
so, like, the one that got out was likethe one that seemed like they really.
But like, he is also like, you know, there's a documentary that came out
in 2015 called Doomed The Untold Storyof Roger Corman's The Fantastic Four.

(38:49):
which I just got a copy of on my,Plex server, like a couple months ago.
So I'm going to get a I'mprobably going to watch the movie
and dive into that or vice versa, because, you know, obviously they are on a,
it's on YouTube.
You can watch itsince it's never released it.
So there's no copyright.
So, sad to hear him go and just suchan influential, you know, movie making.

(39:11):
You may not realize it,but he, he was, for the time.
But moving on into today's
Fantastic Four from Marvel Studios,
they have announced officially that actorRalph Ineson.
How you pronounce innocent, known for roles
in Game of Thrones,Harry Potter, has been cast as Galactus.

(39:32):
So you you may not know this characteroff the top of
your head, but when you look at himlike I've seen him in movies.
Yeah, he's got it.
He's got a familiar face.
when I saw the headlinescome out, this weekend,
I saw a lot of people say,Harry Potter actor.
And I was like, I don't remember this guy.And then I looked.
He was just like,Miscellaneous death eater.

(39:56):
I'm sure the characteris probably more fleshed out in the books.
and then he, I could kind ofmaybe look at him go, oh, maybe I did
see him in something in Game of Thrones, but none of this is bad.
We say on this show all of the timewhen they're casting these iconic roles
like, yes, give me somebodythat I'm not familiar with,
you know, let me grow into that characterand the role

(40:19):
rather than just like,oh, let's just bring the star power.
And, you know, now you have to work extra hard
to kind of look pastwhat their whole career that they've done.
So I think this is cool.
I mean, are we just to look at his,
just faceimposed under a giant helmet like this?
Is that what we're expecting?
Well, you know, is

(40:41):
is Galactus going to have this, like, little beard he's got going on?
it's I I don't think so.
You know that as well as I do.
I mean, they did what Josh Brolinwhen they did with Thanos.
Like, you could see Josh Brolin in there
a little bit,but it wasn't Josh Brolin, right?
They they implementedsome of his look in there.
So however they decided to do GalactusI don't think we mind.
He's also got a really, really good voice.
I was I was saving this point forfor those who may have played Diablo

(41:04):
four recently,he plays a character called Laura Earth
who is like your kind of narratorfor the game.
So he's got, like, his voice.
So you may see his face, butbut this guy's voice is just,
phenomenally deep and, like, you know, you're going to like,
oh, this isthis is like a guy who's who was hired for
how he sounds, not necessarilyhis looks at the end of day.

(41:26):
Not saying he doesn't look bad,but I'm just saying they hired him to.
Whenever Galactus talks, you'regoing to remember when Galactus talks.
So if you've, not played Diablo four, look at Blue Wrath
and just listen to himbecause he nails it.
Yeah, I mean, I've lostthe thread of a lot of our,
Fantastic Four
rumors versus official announcement,so I kind of took this is like,

(41:50):
oh, Galactus is actually going to bein this movie.
That's great.
I don't knowif they'll be a huge character.
I will. They're literally like you.
Literally huge wink wink.
Yeah, but we do know, maybe not factually, but extremely heavily
imply that this version of the FantasticFour exists within another universe.
So this could always be a thing

(42:11):
where maybe this Galactus doesor doesn't stick around.
Or, you know, maybe Galactus is the impetus
that throws theminto a different multiverse or
maybe Galactus is about to win,you know, and act two and eat them.
And then they get, you know, throwninto a different universe.
I'm not entirely sure, but we Galactusconfirmed just kind of what I take away.

(42:34):
Yeah, yeah, we've got, again, obviously, Silver Surfer, it's confirmed,
the Fantastic Four.
And then we had, PaulWalter Hauser last week in a mouse role.
And then also we're getting John.
Actor John Malkovich in an undisclosedrole.
Is not sequels undisclosed?
I'm thinking he's going to be like DoctorStorm.
Like the father of Johnnyand Sue storm, right?

(42:54):
Because they always seem to havehim in most of these movies.
but when they announced John Malkovich,I'm like,
oh, he'd be an interestingkind of Galactus.
Like a more like, pensive version, right?
Like one who's like, oh, I'm not really,I'm not just here to eat
you and be angry, but, like, obviously not the cast.
Somebody else is Galactus.
So they're really kind of leaninginto some of these, bigger names.

(43:15):
You know?
I know some people I was talking forfrom the show, about John Malkovich.
He's like, well, he'snot really been anything good lately.
He's kind of gone off the rails.
I'm like, yeah, but he is a character actor, right?
Like, kind of like Ben.
Kingsley is.
And like, you know how he was in IronMan three and trying to be like,
John Malkovich would be an interestingcharacter actor,
and that's end of the day.
So they're really

(43:36):
I wouldn't say stacking the cast, but I love all these announcements.
I love these confirmations.
I know they're supposed to startfilming around July.
So, Mike, this this movie went from like 0 to 60.
Really, really fast.
Which which is crazy considering
it was announced in 2019 at Comic-Con,
which is wow, five, five years ago,we saw that first logo.

(44:00):
And now finally camerasare starting to get turned on.
Yeah, it's as far as I know,it's beating blade currently still so,
we'll we'll see how this goes.
But it's coming out in summer.
2025. Very, very exciting for Fantastic Four.
We'll keep you guys posted.
Anything else pops out of that, movie?
I actually hadn't thought about,
until I was actually playing Marvel Rivalsbecause Black Panther is a character.

(44:21):
A Black Panther three is a,you know, it's obviously
I think it's in the cardsat Marvel, right?
Whenever, you know,
we're going to talk about Bob Igertalking about reducing Marvel output.
I think Black Panther is a viablefranchise that they want to keep going on.
Right.
first movie made over $1 billion.
Cultural phenomenon. We lost,
ChadwickBoseman between the first two movies.

(44:44):
Tragically,
they were had the task of rewritingthat movie re filming it for Black Panther
two and also during Covid in a Bob Chapekera, it came out.
It's not really a true superhero movie, but it's a really and as we discussed,
like a cathartic movieabout loss and like,
you know, dealing withwith picking up the pieces.
So I think Black Panther three is stillin the cards, Mike, at the end of the day.
And yeah, it would yeah.

(45:05):
Even the even though, like,I've kind of weathered,
the sequel over the years,I brought it up before
no one even really talks about the sequelanymore.
It's really never in conversation with
people are just talkingabout the MCU moving forward.
I just don't thinkit made a lot of impact on people.
I mean, yeah, it was heavy material, but I mean,

(45:26):
you know, I sometimes I even forgetNamor was in the movie.
Like, that's just like how overshadowedeverything is in that movie.
Worlds. Outside of the film, you know?
Yeah, it carries a lot of weight.
But I will say it'salso the only Marvel movie to get a,
was a supporting actress nominationat the Oscars with, Angela Bassett.
So, you know.
Yeah, that's nothing to shrug thatat like that. Like it does.

(45:47):
It does have its merits.
But as you mentioned,it's not like anything
we have to worry about right nowcatching up on. Yeah, right.
Yeah, I feel so.
I always feel so weird, like kind of critiquing the movie,
knowing that, like, it was kind of likein a lose lose situation.
So I guess if I have to imaginea Black Panther three, like,
I don't want to necessarilysay back to basics, but like, like,

(46:10):
black, the first Black Panthermovie is like fun in a way of like,
we're going on this adventure, you know, there's awesome, like action scenes.
We like the it just everythingis, like, popping off, like, Ryan,
Michael B Jordan like showing upwith, like, these iconic lines like, hi,
auntie and stuff like that.
Like itgreat stuff going on in that first film.

(46:31):
Well, and also it had the benefit of notit was an origin movie,
but not an origin movie. Right.
Like we talked about, you know,
we weren't we didn't like Black Pantherbeing introduced in Civil War
and kind of was able to come in here
and kind of set this worldand show us a little bit.
So we have some opportunitiesgoing forward with that.
But I was going to sayis that let's say the pilot, like
Ryan Coogler, would be obviouslythe person director, right.

(46:52):
To close out your trilogykind of do. James Gunn. Right?
I feels like if I can say
Black Panther is one of those showsjust not touched by Marvel Studios proper.
Like no committee
like Black Panther would be, thatRyan Coogler be that director, right?
He kind of was able to shepherd this inI feel everything he's done,
he did the way he wanted it to do,
even with the make those adjustments.

(47:13):
But there is rumor that he might handthe film off to someone else
and maybe directeither Avengers five or Secret Wars.
in the in the immediate future,if you will.
do you think I know right nowhe's filming an actual vampire movie
with Michael B Jordan?
But do you see, I.
I don't have anythingbasis on Ryan Coogler.
He could.
I think he could direct eitherone of those movies just fine.

(47:35):
I don't have any issues with him or his.
Yeah, I don't think.
I don't think it would be a problem.
I mean, it like I was just saying, like,if I kind of want, you know,
the Black Panther Panther franchise, family character to be reinvigorated
a new director
is not a bad way to look at it, to,bring somebody else into the fold.

(47:56):
And then Coogler gets a nice, promotioninto, like, a huge, big franchise.
That would be really sweet.
So, yeah, no, no complaints here.
I feel likethis is also another big conversation.
Two of like, Marvel's just likewe gotta make these big Avengers movies.
They're just lingering out there.
We don't know exactly of King'sgoing to be in them.

(48:18):
Who's going to be directing them?
We might have an ideaof who we want to like, write them.
So everything is still so nebulouswith these two Avengers movies,
you know, down the pike.
I think they know.I just don't think we know yet. Right?
Like we need to go ask the
can we get some toast person like, hey,can you just tell us, let's do this?
because I think they know,I think I think the writers
have been confirmed to directors.
You know, they're trying to pull in peoplewho've done successful movie.

(48:41):
It feels like they're tryingto hire a successful movie.
People who worked for four. Right?
Like whether it's Sam Raimi who didDoctor Strange,
Ryan Coogler in here, you know, they're there's opportunities,
to, to bring that bringthose successful directors into this.
I still think they needto have dual directors,
and I think they have dual writers
that worked outgreat for the last Avengers movies
and all the other movieswe we loved in phase one, two, and three.

(49:04):
Now, the other possibility this came outfirst, actually, before this was that
Ryan Coogler might be denied to possiblyand said, do this and do the X-Men movie,
like after this, like he could directthe first X-Men movie,
due to his kind of success againwith the Black Panther franchise.
And he could I. Mean, these folks,

(49:24):
like thethe pathos there, I think really fits.
I mean, we were talking about ita week ago, where, you know,
X-Men was always an allegory, you know, for racism in America.
And I feel like,
you know, Coogler could attack that betterthan some other directors out there.
you know, there's there's talk aboutjust like the separation of just,

(49:45):
Wakanda and the rest of the world.
You know, they talked about that,
and his. Yeah.
Well, the idea of a, you know,I suppose isolationist
nations, the idea of,you know, obviously, a mutiny.
Charles Barkley would kind ofbe like giant OSHA, right?
If anyone's been watching X-Men 97,they've revisited the island of Jean OSHA,
which has been popularin the comic books for years.

(50:07):
So, like, if they needed to do a giantOSHA movie, guess what?
You've got someone who has experiencein this stuff, and I think he can handle,
you know, a team movie, fairly well.
He knows how to handledifferent abilities.
I will, I would love to, to see that.
I think he's a great director.
I think he has visionand he's able to execute that.
So if, they want to give him anything,I'd be.

(50:28):
I'd be definitely be behind it, right.
I think I think give him give him what he,he wants to work on and, and let them
stretch his wings a little bit.
Be great.
one of the spinoffs out of Black Panthertwo, actually, I don't even remember.
This was Riri Williams.
Michael has her own showthat has been filmed
and is sitting somewherewaiting to be shown.
Eventually.
but she is supposed to show upin the Armor Wars Now movie.

(50:50):
But the rumors, the leakers, the Scoopers who were not as good on the,
I'm shaking my hand like you can see it.
Like, okay, if he if he on
and success have saidthe Armor Wars is possibly been scrapped.
I don't think that's likely.
due to again, we've heard tilwe're blue in the face the past six months
or more about Bob Iger sayingthey're going to reduce the Marvel output

(51:13):
on TV and movies,
and they're going to focus on what worksas a franchise, characters people know.
Armor Wars has a
huge opportunity to bring back
War Machine.
Don Cheadle, who got them nominated forwhat was in an Emmy for his 10s.
And I'll give him your soldier.

(51:33):
but like, you know, not just that, but, like,
you know, be ableto kind of bring some of that
Tony Stark stuff that that Spidermanprobably
won't have back into the MCUthat people are comfortable with.
and then with this, you know, MarvelBob Iger saying they're reducing movie
MCU output numbers to two TVshows a year and 2 or 3 movies a year.

(51:55):
Asterix after this year, not this year.
But like, if they're going to be doingthis, few movies that are currently in
Armor Wars may just be delayedrather than completely wiped out.
Right?
Like, I feel like the the plot pointis that there's just not like,
oh, we don't need to rush this outanytime soon.
Yeah, maybe. I mean, two things.
I always forget when we're talkingabout these Marvel movies

(52:15):
because we're always thinking so, like,
big brain, blue sky,you know, universe connecting thoughts.
But if you look at itjust based on the arc of the character of,
Frodoin these movies, the last time we saw him
canonically within the MCU, he was bodysnatched by aliens like that is in.

(52:36):
The show that they will probably just handwave away later on.
Yeah, and that is that.
That's just such a dramatic
turn of events for a character.
How do you not make an entirehow would the entire entirety of Armor
Wars just not be about how he was, like, captured in like an alien basement?
For who knows, number of years like hisreputation should be tarnished, I'm sure.

(52:59):
Like he's done
tons of things to close friends and familythat he has to, like, call for.
So I. Not remember.
That movie does not soundlike something that gets made.
So like I almost think like, oh yeah, maybe they just scrap the movie entirely.
And just the next time we see War Machine,
he's just on the big battlefieldof Secret Wars, and then he just

(53:20):
has like a one off quip about,oh, where have you been recently?
Oh, you seem different.
Like, oh, I, I wasn't myselfthe last couple of years.
Yeah. See, I, I hate thatbecause that's what they did to him.
Really. And, in endgame. Right.
He like, he just kind of showed upin the battle in this brand new suit.
I think as a character,
and dealing with the legacy of TonyStark's suits,

(53:41):
you know, having Riri Williamsbuild her own in this together is where
it's going to be, I don't think I thinkSecret Invasion will never be in that,
touched on again, Lee,if anything that like, like,
like we mentioned last week, was it, like Nick
Fury just went from Secret Invasionright into the Marvel's to.
And that will never even touch that.He has a wife.
I think Rhodes like, yeah, like, hey,you know,

(54:01):
you know, they might have a one wayabout like, hey, I'm.
I don't remember that.
Or, you know, it was only like a week.
You know, maybe it wasn't forever.
Like, I don't know, but, like,
I feel they need to really focus, like, give us a called Armor Wars.
It's not,it's not, it's not iron. it's not,
roads are War Machine, the moviethey need to focus on where
Tony Stark's suits gone now that he isessentially dead at the end of the day.

(54:26):
Also, make armored suits cool again.
Like, I know it was very convenientfor Tony to have, like, these,
the nano particles that could formkind of whatever he wanted.
And there was a cool moment,
you know, when he's fighting Thanos son,was it Proxima?
Nova. Was that his planet?
I don't remember the name of his planet.
Oh, that was Titan. Infinity.

(54:47):
Titan? Yeah, that. Sorry, Titan.
I was like, where that name come from?
The the, the, the the bots are, like, swarming from Lem the Lem
because they were dwindling and, you know, just down to his hand or whatever.
Like, that was cool, but, like, you,
you really kind of remove the characterfrom the idea of, like,
they need this suit to make them, like, special and strong

(55:08):
and, like, just basic things of, like,I had to be near the suit.
The suit needs to have energy.
There's movingparts, there's mechanic stuff.
Going here is something breaks.
I have to fix it, you know, and Ithat was one of the cooler
things about Black Panthertwo is when we get to see, a Riri
Williams like, kind of building her ownand putting her own spin on it.

(55:30):
So if they're going to do ArmorWars, like, make the suits cool again
and like, I just got to be the focuson that Secret Wars story.
Yeah, I think I think you sayI think a secret invasion.
I think you just ignore Secret Invasion.
but like, the one characterI think I've loved and kind of kind of got
shafted in Iron Man two, right?
Because his early MCU is Justin Hammer, right?
Bring Justin Hammer back after the blip.

(55:51):
He's now a government contractor again.
Yeah, Tony Stark's out.
He's dead. Hammer's picked up.
He's got some extra suitsthat they're making Tony like.
It's got to be a thing with that.
But you know, I hope it's not.
But at the end of the day,if they're going to reduce quantity
and go to quality,
it may very well be on the chopping blockbecause this movie was a TV show.

(56:12):
Now movie has gone throughso many iterations.
at the end of the day,
one of the shows that we talked aboutthe animated
shows coming up is Eyes of Wakanda.
We I don't think we've seen any animation.
I think we've just seen maybe,although I heard about it, but it's,
did Disney send out, hey, here, the show is coming out this year.
Isaac Wakanda is, one of those showscoming out this year, so that's great.

(56:32):
We gotta again, kind of touchon the history of the Wakandan.
was it the watchers or whateverthey call themselves?
The the one they sent out to the worldand are disguised
as regular people for years.
So they're going to do that?
other shows include, your friendly
neighborhood Spider-Man, previouslyknown as, Spiderman, freshman year
hit Monkey seasontwo, is the only one with a date in July,

(56:54):
and the live action Agathaseries are coming out this year.
And I forgot Hit Monkeyeven got got renewed for season two.
Like, I was like,oh man, I. Forgot about it.
I need to get some, hatseasoning from Trader Joe's,
because if Hit Monkey gets a third season,I'll eat my hat.
I will be, shocked if that continues on.
The only thing, the only conceivableway hit like, yeah, it's a third season.

(57:18):
If for some reason, like,it just fits every kind of like,
financial, like benchmark in a way ofjust like, well, we got the team
ready to go, like we have likethis earmarked like animation budget
that's like technically not touchingsome of these other things.
You know, we'll kind of slot it underneathlike, our Hulu kind of full acquisition.

(57:40):
And then I think we could kind oftechnically get a third.
Yeah, out of it.
And I think we talked about
like the only reason it has a secondseason
is becauseI think they recorded all the audio
and they had a contractto do X number of episodes,
and they bought Huluand they just made them do it.
I don't think there's any hope for this, despite the fact that Jason Sudeikis,
as the main character and hit monkeyand it just been wild, I

(58:02):
boy, I tell you,
if I remember this movie, this TV show, come August, I'll be surprised
at the end of the day.
But, possibly, I excited to finally see,you know, that that,
Spider-Man alternate universeshow getting put out right
where he's working with, Norman Osbornwith all the suits.
I have a kind of huge question.
Now, I did see there's no word on MarvelZombies or What If season three yet.

(58:24):
So I know we had a previewof one of season three.
Do you think they might save that onefor like, a surprise announcement
the end of the year?Like they want a season two?
Like, hey, here's your holiday again withWhat If season three, and Marvel Zombies.
You know, I know that's probably comingas a spinoff of What If season three, but,
it said that we've got to waitprobably another year.

(58:44):
Yeah.
Those seem like propertiesthat would be really useful for filling,
kind of like release gaps.
You know, they have to do so much pivoting
with the schedule of the live action MCU.
That seems to be like the number one thingthat they're doing with Star Wars
content of just like,oh, May the 4th is coming up
and we don't have anythinglive action ready.
Well, luckily we got these animated showsready to go.

(59:06):
You know, we have these kind of likepocketed and done and dropped.
So I, I would imaginethat's kind of these animated properties
are kind of like held a little bit longerbecause they, they're,
they have a longer shelf life and they cankind of drop them when they need them.
Yeah.
And I wouldn't be surprised after the, improved, a feedback on one of season

(59:26):
two of what one of season fourwas even being in the works. So.
Right, like, hey, we're going to,
we're going to just kind of chugalong that pipeline.
But I forgot to put it in here.
And I said, let's see thewhat if there's a announcement?
They announce an Apple VisionPro experience for Marvel's
What if, only on ApplePro coming later this year.
And I said this is
the most expensive thingI've ever heard announced in my life.

(59:50):
yeah.
You what did youyou claim it was like the fourth?
That was the $3,000 episode or so.
It's a $4,000 episode because it's$3,500 base, plus everything else.
You have to get to run an AppleVision Pro,
and you're just experiencing an episode.
like, I'm I'm sure it's cool.
I'd love to experience it, but,
I mean, what are the odds?

(01:00:11):
somebody jailbreaks it, and, like, there's some sort of, like, APK
that gets, uploaded to the internet, and then I can, like, run it on, like,
my janky meta quest two, you know?
Well, yeah.
Well, the thing is, I again, it's not it'sprobably more than just an episode.
I don't want to sell it short.
Like, it's not just sit and watchan episode in 3D as probably so expensive,

(01:00:32):
but the fact that, you know, again,I know Disney has partnered with Apple
before to to get the DisneyPlus app on here, but like
this is a very niche product, like super niche like,
people I know, people who have itand people haven't used them
like longer than their questthat they have.
Like there'sjust nothing out there for it.
And I'm like, why would you put,you know, Marvel like you want them to be?

(01:00:53):
Marvel's not selling your headset.I'll tell you that right now.
This is the opposite directionbecause you like,
what if you're not buying the Apple VisionPro headset, you're going to probably go
watch someone who recorded it on YouTubeand watch them do it right and do that.
The only interesting thing is it'sa new episode where Captain Marvel is no.
One, but I'm like,
that's still not enoughto sell me on even trying this somewhere.

(01:01:14):
Yeah, I'm.
I wonder when kind of this was kicked offbecause we always talk about how,
you know, animation, you know, takes longer than anything else.
So I wouldn't be surprised if this was,you know, already in the works
before the Vision Pro
even launched, you know, when they weremaking those original deals.
So, I, I would say in a sense ofthey're a little lucky

(01:01:36):
because it seems to be
the only like the abolition proonly has like two killer apps.
If you could even if killer is,I would say it stretches people
like watching TV on them and also usingweb web browsers, which is funny.
So I mean, this leans into.
The little things you can doin that quest.
Oh my god.
Yeah, exactly.
But so that just meansthis is definitely tied to Apple for sure.

(01:02:00):
But I wouldn't be surprisedif maybe in a year or two there's
yeah, there's something that expiresand then we can watch it on that.
That happened with the Iron Man VR game.
Remember that we experience that San DiegoComic-Con.
They released it only on PlayStation.
And then like, I think was like two, maybe three years later, like, okay,
we put it on quest simplybecause the user base is there, right?

(01:02:20):
Like, you know,we're we're not a tech show by any means.
But for those who don't know, the questOS has opened up to other headset makers.
Meta is not the only personwho can make VR headsets with quest
OS that opens the user base even more, the Apple has said.
If you're in the Apple ecosystem, you have to have the Apple Vision Pro.
There's no Apple Vision Pro to announceand no Apple Vision consumer model,
coming anytime soon.

(01:02:41):
So if we finally get to watch this Mike,it might be five years
if we get good experience or something.
Or maybe, you know, this would be the opportunity
where I'd book an appointmentat the Apple Store to demo this.
I'm like, just preload
this what if app for me.
That's all I want to do on there.
Nothing else. Yeah, exactly.Kind of thing.
but yeah, it'sjust wild that this I get it.

(01:03:02):
They're experiencesthat we're just not going to have.
But in a world where like.
But it's all connected, this is very, very disconnected from everybody else.
Moving on Avengers Endgameand I say this is Avengers Endgame.
This is actually probably tighter.
But like there are rerumors of Chris Evans lead
Captain America seriesto return the Infinity Stones.

(01:03:23):
Mike.
And the only reason thatthis has come back up is that,
Bob Iger said that they're lookingto make event television again.
And this would be to me, I think one ofthe most must watch shows on Disney Plus.
If they did, it's this series.
It it's so weird because I am so down
the middle on this eitherbeing an awful idea or a great idea.

(01:03:44):
Like it's a great idea, obviously, because you're putting Captain America
back on people's screens.
People loveChris Evans is Captain America.
this was one of the ideas that was floatedon very early before Disney+ even
launched, like, oh, this would be a great, like, launch title, right?
But to me, like, I just feel like Cap
and Tony were just set off into the sunsetso perfectly and end game like,

(01:04:09):
I understand the desireto go back to the characters.
I get that us fans want to see them again, but I just feel like sometimes just,
you know, you got to have the integrityto let it go.
You know, let, let,let sleeping horses lie.
But I'm not saying it couldn't be good.
I mean, it makes sense.

(01:04:30):
This seems like the perfect type
of mini series to put together, and I,I just not like I wouldn't
watch it out of protest or anything, but like, you better make it good.
If this is bad, I will be so mad.
Yeah, well,I don't think Chris Evans would come back
for anythingshort of a good series, right?
Like, he he he could write his own.
What he he iswhat's going to make or break this.

(01:04:52):
Like it's either going to happenif he says
yes or it's not going to happenif he says no
and you know he is, he doesn'tneed anything to be successful, right?
He can do whatever he wants at this point.
but like to me is again, in six stone sixepisodes.
Be interesting to watch.
it's it would just be a huge of it.
I think everyone would watch it.
And I think that'swhat they're looking for.

(01:05:13):
They're looking for showsthat everyone has to tune in.
Right. Like, how many people did we tell you?
You have to watch Secret Invasionright now?
The last show that I remember there, literally, I didn't tell anyone.
You don't have to watch this.
Like, honestly, I'd avoid itlike the plague if that was it.
Loki I think Loki was a great showand I didn't tell people
to watch it, but like, there are more misses than hits
in the Marvel series realm, but I think this would be that now.

(01:05:37):
It doesn't. Maybe.
Maybe it isn't this.
Maybe they come up with another big event, but like, you need to have stakes
and you have tolook at what people are asking for.
And I would say, you know, wewe as, as people who sit here and can be
armchair quarterbacks for Marvelall day long, but like, do they have the,
the, the, the tags, the search indicationthat says people are looking up
Captain Americareturning the Infinity Stones.

(01:06:00):
We need to make this showbecause the desire from not just us,
but consumers as a whole is there. Right.
So as long as they have a good reasonto make it and as you
mentioned, it's great I'm downif they're just doing it to do it like we
I don't think we need to revisit a moviefrom five years ago either.
Right. Like it's now been five years.
I think we've missed the mark.
That probably should have beenthe first show on Disney Plus.

(01:06:23):
But, you know, we'll see if theythey get to it.
It's all rumors.Thankfully, it's all rumors.
speaking of rumors, the last
kind of rumor esque thing we have here,we have a photo of actress Krysten Ritter,
with purple hair and people, like, why is this important?
Well, there's a version of,Jessica Jones in the comic books.

(01:06:44):
her called Jewel, her persona.
We kind of saw arc her costume in seasonone a little bit as a purple.
White.
and then people are thinkingthat she's dying for her to come back
as Jewel in the Daredevil Born Againseries.
Yeah.
I mean, she's got the, purple man shirt on, right?
That's the.I think she's got a shirt in this picture.
Isn't that, David David Tennant,is that his name?

(01:07:06):
The doctor? Yeah, it might be.It might be a Doctor Who shirt.
Right.
I can't I can't tell usbackwards and upside down, but,
But absolutely, like, you know,is she teasing
or is she just, like, saying, hey, call me, I'll do it.
Call me kind of thing?
It would be. It would be fun.
I mean, you'd lose credibilitywith your fans
pretty quickly, but wouldn't it be crazy to
just be an actorthat's been in one of these movies

(01:07:26):
and then just randomly like, postcryptic stuff of like, oh, I'm gonna post
a picture of this, comic bookand then have people speculating forever.
Maybe it didn't mess with people.
Well, it's funny because we did. Weit was it.
Finn Jones had the comic book, right? The Iron Man Power Fist comic book.
She's got the purple hair.
This is the second time we've actuallyseen her kind of come back with that.
we know Charlie Cox is there filming.

(01:07:47):
We've not seen
the actor who played Luke Cage yetdo anything suspicious on social media.
So, we probably need to gocheck his stuff, see if it's
for missing that, but, like,
it'd be fun to have him in there.
So a little reference in DaredevilBorn Again.
I don't need a whole showabout the Old Defenders
or the Netflix series, but it would be fun, right,
to take them outand have them in there. So,

(01:08:08):
I don't know. I'm excited.
Daredevil Born Again.
I think they've said they might havefinished primary filming in the first nine
episodes of, this might be the only ninewho knows at this point.
So we'll we'll keep you guys posted.
And I'm sorry to keep everyone waitingtoo long.
We're an hourand eight minutes in the show.
We haven't even talked about the new look
at David Cornswear as Superman from James Gunn.

(01:08:30):
Mike in this image is so specialbecause it's filmed entirely in camera.
None of this wasad edited after the fact, so,
boy, there has been the internet roundsand the good and bad of this photo.
Mike.
this week, so much that I actually forgotabout this a little bit.
but but it's been it's been up in thereand the discussion will go on.

(01:08:53):
I yeah.
I mean, for me, it looks the hit,the costume looks great.
This guy looks exactly like,an incarnation of Superman.
Almost.
So, like,if you if you look at it just briefly,
it almost kind of looks like,
like, Henry Cavill a little bit as well.

(01:09:13):
So you almost kind of have to, like,
reground yourself and be like,oh, this is a new image.
So I don't know if this is a telling that
the characterdesign of Superman is so great
and he's such an everymanthat you can slot almost any kind
of, like, white dude in there, and it looks like Superman.
You got got your dark hairwith a little girl.
The front and a very, very chiseled jaw,I mean. Right.

(01:09:35):
Yeah.
Or does, David corn's wet?
Is that how we're saying his name? Corn?
Yeah, yeah.
Or does he just like, look so much like a Superman already?
I mean, it looks great.
You know, he's suiting up if I have to,like, really speculate about this one
singular image, it would be kind of coolto see Superman Clark Kent's apartment.

(01:09:57):
You know, we never really see Superman
from the angle that we get to seesomething like a Peter Parker, right?
Where we actually get to see them, like living their day to day life.
And how do they balance being Supermanwith, you know, also
trying to have a personal lifeworking at a newspaper.
So maybe this iskind of hinting more at that.
and then on the other side.

(01:10:20):
Well, I was gonna saythe other thing to me is that
this is the first, like, he'snot rushing to get ready
because there are other superheroes outin this world already, right?
Like every Superman we've seen is himhaving to solve all the world's problems.
Pretty much.
and it is a situation because he is.
He's getting dressed slowly.
It almost looks like the camera pans over,

(01:10:41):
is like Lois Lane in bed,and he's just like, I gotta go.
I gotta work in the morning.
Yeah, I kind of get thethose vibes of his ending.
A late night rendezvous.
He's not.
Your phone booth don't exist anymore.
He he's he's putting his clothes back on.
He's got a little bit of battle damagehere. Obviously. He.
So his suit's not repairingin between fights,

(01:11:01):
but like, there's a green blast back there.
Is that the Green Lanternthat we know is going to be in here?
Played by Nathan Fillion.
You know who is creating that big orband the purple stuff around it?
Like he is not in a hurrybecause guess what?
He's not the only person in this worldfighting bad guys in Metropolis.
So that's really cool to methat he's like,
oh my God, I gotta solve everything.

(01:11:23):
And everyone's like, why isn't he here?
And I'm like, well, because obviouslyother people are there, right?
Like, you know, they're carrying the assignment.
He's going to show up at the 11th hour andclaim credit for for beating everybody.
I mean, what was.
Your other take on seeing. This out of context, though?
I didn't know. It was like,
you know, camera trickand it was all in camera or whatever.

(01:11:43):
And you know, we're I don't thinkwe're supposed to perceive this as a scene
from the movie necessarily.
It's just like a promo hype image.
but I looked in the backgroundand I was like,
oh, is this just like a bad Photoshop?
Like, is this just like, oh, put it throwan energy being back there and we'll see,
what it looks like.
So I, you know, obviously I was drawingtoo much from it before I knew,

(01:12:04):
what it was, but it begs the questionif it's all in camera, is this, like,
a traditional, like, LED screen in the background?
Is this a volume that they're working in?
You know, is it is it a matte painting?
I mean, who knows?
I mean, gun is at the point in his careerwhere if he wanted
matte paintings in his movies,he could get matte paintings.

(01:12:24):
done.
I texted you about matte paintings.
He was like, what did I tell youabout matte paintings earlier?
I do not recall.
It was a movie that we were like,
oh man, they're actually doing somethingwith real paintings again.
Oh, skeleton crew, the Star Warsskeleton crew,
they're actually brought backPhil Tippett, who worked on Jurassic Park.
Star Wars move to do stop motion mattepaintings, old fashioned matte paintings

(01:12:45):
and an islandpainter out of retirement, too.
So that's pretty cool.
But, like, I don't think this is mattepaintings and I don't think it's a volume.
I don't want some. Everything's volume.
I think it looks like it's LED wallssupposed to be outside,
because those are just huge windowsfor an apartment.
I guess in Manhattanor not. Manhattan Metropolis.
yeah,
I, a lot of people have pointed out the,you know,

(01:13:06):
for the design, the Superman's on screen,he's wearing the red trunks.
You can see kind of in the shadows there.
Everyone was like, is the cape real?
The capekind of looks really, really off red
for being quote unquote in-camera,if you will.
like, I don't know if you noticethat about it or not, I don't care.
And I mean, look at the Cape, but.
Like, I feel like that leans to the factthat it is real, because if it was fake,

(01:13:30):
you could color match it exactlyto the rest of the costume.
I look it as like, oh,the boots and the symbol on the suit,
you know, are, you know, rubberor some sort of other material.
And then somebody had to track down fabricthat was close enough,
or maybe they didn't want to match it.
They wanted to goin a slightly different vibe.
So yeah, I didn't.I didn't really question the cape.

(01:13:52):
Yeah, I think it was morethe texture than the color.
But like
overall, I would say this
is an interestingfirst reveal from James Gunn.
as we always say, costumeslook better in motion.
This.
He's got some bunching up aroundhis shoulders as he's leaning forward
to put on his boots.
not that it matters in in still shot, but
the internet has been very I wouldn't say.

(01:14:15):
Right.
They've kind of been down on it,kind of like parodying
this and like making memes out of it,but at the same time, like
people are talking about it.
So I mean, that's a plus, right? So,
I see nothing inherently bad here,
but boy, do I have questionsabout the world that are playing in.
It's what I'm walking away with this.
Like how what is in the background? What do they do doing?

(01:14:35):
I love I love a good light beamtowards the sky.
Mike.
You know, that's that's a stapleof every good superhero movie, but, well,
we'll keep you guys postedif we get any more stuff on that,
last bit of, DC newshere, Mike, is that, Batman
the Caped Crusader, the animated show that was, not picked up
by Warner Brothers, but by Amazonhas given us our first official images,

(01:14:59):
including Batman, Harley Quinn, Catwoman, and Clayface from the upcoming series.
It reminded me that we talked about
we had some sort of like, had the leaked images.
Yeah.
And we saw like,
you know, Harley Quinn was the big onebecause it's like a departure.
but it makes sense.
I mean, you can't just.
There's currently a running,

(01:15:20):
you know, Harley Quinn animated TV show,so you can't just.
Do, you know, something similar.
So I like that it's a different turn.
well, I mean, this. Is like.
This looks great. This looks.
I mean, it's very much like,if I look at it, the first thing I get is,
animated series vibes, right?
Like, you know, especially when we get to, Catwoman

(01:15:41):
and kind of Clayface, like Clayface has, like, that dark, but he.
Look, he'sbeen kind of redone with his looks there.
looks more villainous.
obviously Harley Quinn is more of a greenand yellow, thing,
and she's actually like,I think Batman's like.
And she has no relation to the Jokerin this show.
Shows what they said.
So I'm excited to see it in motionat the end of the day.
But, you know,I see the the vibes, the homage

(01:16:03):
from the animated series, but not being the animated series.
I think the one thing I will always say,his ears are way
too tall for meto not just stare at immediately
on this Batman like, whoa,is he got to duck through every door.
He's got to go through theto get those in there or what?
So, I'm expecting.
Fancy motion through doors.

(01:16:23):
He just appears in rooms and spooky.
He busted walls and ceilingsbecause he just does that stuff.
So, yeah, we'll check that.
But we have all links, all those photos here in the show.
Check them out.Let us know what you think as well.
Lastly, Warner Brothers,David Zaslav is I, I don't like him.
I don't like him.
I'm sure, nobody else likes them either.

(01:16:44):
but he has announced thatthere is, a Lord of the Rings
The Hunt for Gollum movie, live action movie coming in 2026.
And, they have confirmedthat Andy Serkis will be,
we'll play Gollum, and we'll also bethe director of this movie.
good for him, but it's a really weird, they're they're rebuilding or

(01:17:04):
I guess they're adding on to their currentLord of the rings trilogy.
Or I guess once the six movies by,
tapping into a very offhand mention storyof the hunt for Gollum that never was
really talked about in the books, but just mentioned briefly in this.
Is this a I mean, you might not know
because we're not huge, you know, Lord of the rings, Lord, people,

(01:17:28):
is this a sequel to return of the King,or is this like a pocket story?
That kind of.
It is a prequel to the first three movies.
but a but it happens after, The Hobbit, but before Lord of the rings.
It's in the middle of,
because, well, so there is a line in this.
Aragorn says, is talking to Jennifer.

(01:17:49):
He you know, that that he heard about, you know, someone who had the ring,
and Aragornwent hunting for him to look for him.
And this is that movie, essentiallyis what they're taking, like, you know,
how how did, you know, when Gollum leftthe cave to go find Bilbo?
What does he know about wherethe ring went to at the end?
Yeah.
I mean, what dowhat do you do with Lord of the rings?

(01:18:09):
I mean, obviously right now,the strategy is you make money with it.
Why not?
Why wouldn't you do it.
Unless you're Amazon, spend money with it.
Yeah. I mean, you have to do.
All you have to do is make one more movie, right?
To rerelease another, like, super expensive, like box set or,
you know, to get people to, you know, buy them all again and like eight

(01:18:33):
maybe this aligns with like another like, you know, video standard or something.
but, yeah, it does begthe question of the, of the longevity.
obviously at some point in our lifetime,Chris,
we might be elderly, but,Lord of the rings gets rebooted, right?
I mean, everyone will be like, why?

(01:18:53):
Those original movies were perfect.
Why make them again? And it's like, well, because of money, you know?
And who knows, just stretch them out.
Yeah, maybe they stretch them out to six movies
and they put many serieson streaming alongside of them.
But as of right now,it's in this kind of odd spot of just like
nobody really wants to

(01:19:14):
touch the original trilogy,so we're just kind of making stuff
before it or around it,or technically not the same.
And, the rights holders are different.
Like, you know, Amazon'slike you mentioned, got the one for Prime,
but there's a new one that's you knowWarner Brothers and then Warner Brothers.

(01:19:34):
And then I know. The film rights.
But I think there's like was it
Embracer Group or somebody else ownsevery literally everything else is weird.
Yeah.
And I like that same group I believealso owns like the theme park rights too.
So like, obviously there's moreLord of the rings on the horizon,
but you know who's going to do it rightand justify the it's just

(01:19:56):
it must be really difficultto be like a huge Lord of the rings fan,
because you just don't know what's comingand what's going to happen.
Yeah.
And I think, well, the thing is, you know, there's there's two sides.
This one isif you're fans of the originals,
and not The Hobbit, you have those. They're not touching them.
Thank Godthey're not touching them. Right?
They're just leaving those things alone.
They're actuallyputting them back in theaters

(01:20:17):
this summer, in case you know that,to bring even more money in.
So, that's coolthat they're leaving those.
And you can have thoseif you like. The hobbits.
Great. You can have those too.
But we're at a different interesting pointwhere you mentioned, like
we talked about the wardrobe here.
the anime movie, like they're just throwing things
at a wall to see what sticks.
It feels like, because we have the worldwhere he made me movie Amazon
doing The Rings of Power.I enjoyed The Rings of Power.

(01:20:37):
I'm not a huge
Lord of the rings fan, so like,I kind of I can slide myself in there.
to to that,
the static.
But like, you know, they're just taking too long to make it.
I think it's been about two yearssince the last one came out,
and we don't know when the next one is.
And then again, they have,
you know, this movie in thatthat is part of the live action stuff.
It brings back AndySerkis, Gollum himself, the,

(01:20:59):
the guy who essentially revolutionizedmotion capture.
Right. And playing those characters. Yeah.
I think it's.
Great, but like, like, do they dothe awful move of giving us, like, a cameo
of a slightly younger, like,do we get, like, a toddler Frodo
or, you know, like.
is it Aragorn focused. Even Gandalf?
But is it even Aragorn?

(01:21:20):
Like, like, you know, they can't bring back, obviously.
I can't think of the
actor's name, but, like, you know,do they recast and put him in there?
Like, what is this for? And what does it do?
I, I, the Lord of the rings has moneyfor money potentially to do something.
But like we are like not just famous, but everyone who's is like,

(01:21:41):
where does this all fitand where does it all come together?
At what point do you draw that
line and say, it's going to be easierif we just start fresh and not have?
Yeah, I mean, linger.
On everything from the past 30 yearsbecause I
if you watch The Hobbit Restorethe Rings, Peter Jackson did both.
But like the first ones are so practicaland you can feel the love
and the, the energy and then the hobbits, like we had to crank this out so fast.

(01:22:03):
It's all CGand it doesn't look that good, right?
I mean, I can't believe,I can't believe I didn't see it
until just now when I'm thinking about it.
The closestanalog to the Lord of the rings.
Because it's. Star Wars. Cinematically, yeah, it's Star Wars.
Star Wars? Yeah,I was already thinking that. Yeah.
With the original trilogy.
And then you do these Hobbit prequelsthat everyone pretty much hates, right?

(01:22:24):
And now is is the really the onlydirection to go is forward, right.
You know, the original trilogy,we see our heroes kind of like
Save the Dayand save the Galaxy slash world,
and then you kind ofjust have to reinvent a new threat, right?
it didn't work for Star Wars for me.
Overall, on average, I think you canyou can easily kind of see, like,

(01:22:47):
the little sight, like Gollum is like, basically like,
like an and or a mandalorian, right?
You know, and we're just, like, throwing in a little.
I think the difference is Lordof the rings essentially has,
for, for all intents purposes,a story Bible.
Right? Like even a,
the purveyor of, Tolkien's estate, they're like,
they approve everythingthat kind of comes out of that. Right?

(01:23:09):
So that is a little bit different.
Star Wars, like even the we always saythere's no direction in Star Wars.
And I think Lord of the ringsalways has direction.
Like, this is what exists here.
But at the same time,at what point do you lose
the regular audienceand just only cater to the,
talking fans? Right?
Because again, you go read the Lord of the rings book.

(01:23:30):
It's all so many namesthat I can't pronounce in my head,
like, you know, or different creaturesand races and languages.
It's just it gets out of control.
So I, I, I like Lord of the rings.
I think they can dogreat things with that. But,
I don'tknow, after the, the absolute disaster
the Gollum video game was last year, like one of the worst games known to man,

(01:23:53):
I, I'm not excited for a Gollum movie, despite the fact I do love Andy Serkis,
and I know he does a great job with thatand has a lot of care and passion for the,
the world of Lord of the rings.
He even read the books like,he did, the book on tape for the books.
So I think there is
hope here, but boy,do I when I see Gollum,

(01:24:16):
I kind of just get like uninterested,to put it nicely.
So, Yeah, but Lord of the rings, watch it if you want to.
In theaters later this year, I would loveI'd probably go back and watch the
second one.
Is that a good one?
The second one,I pray you watch the second. Year I do.
Get a chance, but we'll see.
