Episode 7: Strange love

Glory B finally escapes from the box and flies out across the toxic wasteland seeking the Last Forest.   

Episode Transcript

East Hastings (00:15):
We know you, Glory B.
You...
have awoken us.
We dreamed long forgotten herein our perfect, leafy refuge.
Adrift on an ocean of ruin, andsurrounded by every atrocity.
But now, the dew that falls ismingled with your salty tears, and our

(00:41):
voices listen and tell in the night,carrying the taste of your skin.
On the forest floor, new seeds stir.

Glory B (00:54):
I don't mean to be grumbling, because I know the
Keepers told me that they loved me.
I know that they said theywanted to keep me safe.
But...
now I also know...
the ghost, East Hastings.
I know their breath in my earand on the back of my neck.
And I know that they're notjust a dream, not just a ghost.

(01:20):
East Hastings is real.
And that place where they live, theLast Forest really is out there...
somewhere.

East Hastings (01:30):
Before this day, we drank only from the past.
But now worms writhing, icy fingersmagnificent we drink to this
unbearable weight of waking light.

Glory B (01:53):
Now I finally understand why the Keepers
sucked me away from the stars.
And forced me to follow them downunder the city walls, through the long
winding darkness in the dislocatedglare of their gaslights, like
ugly, little strange blue moons.
They buried me here, out of sightand out of mind, because the

(02:17):
half dead hypocrisy that damnedtheir shrieking eyes had long
departed these loathing corridors.

East Hastings (02:25):
Show us your fury, gripping your guts,
shaking your raised fist!

Glory B (02:34):
Okay.
If I'm honest with myself,I've also been afraid.
Wedged, pinched and shrinkingin this greasy little box.
But now I wobble,slobbering, to my feet.
Spittle-lips gleaming, wild heatscreaming, tearing and clawing.
Shadow-beam seeking, out ofthe long, loathing darkness.

(02:57):
Up into the frosted crust, up over thecity walls, and up, finally, once again,
up and up and up into the damp-wingednight under the moonlight weeping.

East Hastings (03:13):
And now the sky comes tumbling in, bringing you to us.
Slipping and shimmering across theaether, past and future glowing
like street lamps to light your way.

Glory B (03:28):
Up into the bare-skin wind, swells dipping.
Wings finally, once more, pierced.
Glorious with joy.
Hot wind blasting undermy breasts and my belly.
Spittle-whistling, laughing, dancingthrough dust clouds, scattered and
drowning in the bitter red sky.

Glory B (04:00):
Eaaaassssst Hasssstings!
I can heeear yoooou!
Your breath in my ear.
Your voice whisperingon the back of my neck.
Your every shivering word calling to me!
To the east, the dawn smells likechickweed and stones, beating in
our blood-heart, splattered andswallowed by the bright yellow.

East Hastings (04:28):
Our eyes are long sealed in their sockets.
Our tongues decomposingin the top soil...
But our breath clings shivering,curled on the back of your neck.
Luminous swells carry the taste of yourskin across the glittering brink of
this landscape that trembles, listening.

(04:52):
Your beaded wings brimming wide, followthe forest riverbank where soiled
leaves curl like luminous green lips.
And still, you make your way,soaring ever closer through
the dawn's rousting watch.

(05:12):
Your wings, your tears, whirling throughthe aether, stained with sorrow and joy.

Glory B (05:23):
I can see...
the sun, glinting on the summer grass.
