Welcome to the future of innovation in construction. In this special episode of The Build Up we're in the newly constructed Procon Innovation Center at the Myers-Lawson School of Construction at Virginia Tech. This new lab facility will be the home for the next generation of technological advances in construction.
And we couldn't be joined by a more fitting guest than the recently retired Professor Thom Mills, who has been a champion of research and embracing innovation throughout his 30+ year tenure as a hokie – including his time mentoring two young grad students in a research project about virtual site visits. Spoiler alert: It was Procon Co-Founders Kyu Jung and Mark Ilich. And it was that very project that inspired them to start a company.
Now Kyu is back at his alma mater to talk about the future of tech, like developments in material science, the Internet of things, prefabrication, and the role of AI.
Special thanks to Ashley Williamson and the Myers-Lawson School of Construction Team at Virginia Tech for their support in making this episode happen.
