(00:02):
Bobby Crowder of the family plumbers is joining me.
Hey,
Bobby,
how are you?
How are you?
I'm doing fantastic.
Hey,
a question's coming into the studio.
Are you ready for it?
It's a plumbing question.
I'm,
let's,
let's do it.
Ok.
You're my plumbing expert here.
Someone wants to know what's causing low water pressure.
That's all they tell us.
Uh,
it could probably be a number of things.

(00:22):
Right.
Oh,
yeah.
Yeah.
Well,
I,
I mean,
you can.
Yep,
yep.
Just a few,
uh,
of the common things that might cause water pressure.
Uh I've seen the city,
you know,
I've seen,
uh,
most common I would say is probably maybe a faulty pressure regulating valve.

(00:45):
Uh Pr V is what we call it.
Um,
that controls the high pressure and sometimes those fail.
Uh,
and if it's an older home,
it's going to be,
it's gonna be your water line,
especially if it's galvanized.
So we have over time,
it,
it,
it'll corrode inside the build-up will happen inside that pipe in the galvanized and you'll lose re flow compared to,

(01:12):
you know,
if it's coming in one inch,
three quarter inch,
mainly three quarter inch and that three quarter inch can be now down to a half an inch.
I've seen all the way down to an eighth of an inch.
I've seen it actually,
you know,
a quarter of an inch.
I mean,
just so,
just full of,
yeah,
it's just build up and once you have that you're gonna,

(01:33):
you're gonna see,
you're gonna see a difference in all your faucets and your showers and everything,
all the fixtures in your house.
Um,
but yeah,
those are the two must come actually not that we've had people in on a newer home say,
hey,
I lost pressure.
And,
uh,
the most common thing for that would be your water treatment system,
believe it or not,
because that comes from your main into your treatment system and then into your house.

(01:57):
So that would be,
you know,
water softener if your water softener has failed and it's actually clogged your pipes with the resin.
That's,
that's a big,
the first thing I do is I go there and I pop up open like the toilet tank lid if I see orange beads in there.
Ok.
Now we have a pretty big problem because now every fixture in your house is,

(02:19):
is stuffed full of those little orange resin beads,
which is like sand almost.
It's just compacted.
So now we got to pull everything out.
So I would say those three,
those three are the most common out in Arizona.
It's mainly softeners,
believe it or when we say,
hey,
when they call us up,
say,
hey,
we got a little water pressure.
Uh,
first thing I ask,
do you have water softener?

(02:39):
Uh Yeah,
we do.
I said,
well,
let's put that thing in bypass and let's,
uh,
let I'm gonna have to come out and take a look.
Yeah.
Uh,
absolutely.
Something else,
I guess it could be.
And this isn't a good thing is that for some reason there's a leak in the supply.
You can,
yeah,
you can have a pretty big leak.

(03:00):
I've seen,
uh,
usually like the underground,
underground,
like under the slabs,
you know,
and they have no idea it's happening until actually they have a water bill,
you know,
that comes up and they're like,
oh,
my gosh,
how come on my water bills?
Usually 30 bucks or 70 bucks and now it's 5,

(03:21):
800 bucks.
Ok.
Yeah,
because now you're a lot of your water flows going underneath your house and you're trying to pull it to one of your faucets.
So,
now you have,
it's like if you open every foss in your house,
you can see the,
the,
the flow difference.
It's just like that if it's,
if it's,
if it's leaking underground,
you know,
because it's not closed off and heading to that faucet directly.

(03:43):
So,
yeah,
that's,
that's a good,
that's actually a good one there.
Joe.
Appreciate it.
Yeah.
And certainly,
um,
if you're water bill goes up all of a sudden there is water leaking unless you're doing a lot more with water in your home.
But if everything else is the same,
you haven't added people to the home,
especially if you've been away for a while on vacation and you find your water bill excessively high,

(04:08):
it could be anything leaking.
And that's a big problem.
Bobby's information is located in the description of the podcast.
There's no excuse not to get a hold of him.
He's even kind enough to consult with you over the phone if you have a simple question.
Yes.
So give me a call.
Thanks,
Bobby.
Have a great day.
You too.
Thanks.

Stuff You Should Know
Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
