Season 2  | Episode 7

In today’s episode, Allison sits down with our wonderful friend and resounding influence, Dr. Thalia Dorsten, to discuss how our inner child carries the imprints of our past experiences, bearing the weight of our pain and trauma and begging to be noticed and addressed. These unhealed wounds can manifest in our adult lives, affecting our relationships, self-esteem, and overall well-being. Thalia blesses us with a wealth of knowledge and guides us through the powerful practice of reparenting, offering insight on how we can nurture and heal those parts of ourselves.

We’ll discover the science behind how these innocent aspects of our pain solidify and store in our nervous system, and how it shapes our neurological and emotional responses to life’s challenges. Through gentle acknowledgement of these parts of our history, we can identify what they are trying to teach us. More often than not our mind keeps these versions of ourselves as a reminder of our pain in order to protect us from that trauma recurring. And it’s in the moments that those memories are triggered that we find ourselves regressing, responding to the situation as if we’re right back in that child’s shoes, witnessing and reacting just as we did when the trauma occured.

With reparenting, we give that inner child permission to relax their grip on the wheel. We allow our innocence to trust that they are no longer helpless. They are no longer unseen. We take the baton and reassure that part of ourselves that we can handle this. We scare the monsters out from under the bed, we turn on the light, we take control and we help them to understand that we don’t have to live in that fear anymore. We’ve made it out. We’re now grown adults capable of guiding our entire being to a place of healing, self-respect, and success.

Whether you’re trying to understand why certain triggers can make you feel small and disconnected from yourself or seeking to support others in their path to recovery, this episode provides invaluable wisdom and actionable advice. Join us for a compassionate and enlightening conversation as we learn to heal all the parts of ourselves that have been left behind, breaking them free from their chains and reclaiming our highest and best good, allowing us to connect and heal ourselves from all sides.

Don't miss this opportunity to explore the profound connection between your inner child and your nervous system, and learn how to rewrite your story with love and resilience.
