On this weeks episode I talk about three things: why I do mediumship, reflections that came up around the launch and reception of my podcast, and the stereotypes about mediumship. Check out the notes below for a more depth look but as always, I hope you enjoy and thanks for listening. Why I do mediumship:

  • It was not my intention to start doing mediumship
  • Mediumship has saved my life, given me life, and given me my life back
  • It’s helped me become more comfortable with the dark places in my life
  • It has helped me more than any therapy I’ve done but I don’t discount the benefit of therapy
  • I used to feel like I was walking around in a fog before, due to my trauma
  • Helped me identify triggers with my own PTSD and anxiety
  • I realized a bit of healing I could give other people
  • To see the tiniest bit of healing is a way for me to give back a bit of what I have received

Podcast things that came up around it:

  • It’s taken me six years to stand in my own power and do this
  • I’m not trying to convert anyone, I’m doing this for me
  • Fear of potential criticism-people thinking I’m crazy
  • Healing my own issues around being seen and heard
  • All the negative things I thought would happen by putting this out, haven’t

Stereotypes of mediumship:

  • Mediumship is ripe with stereotypes
  • American culture has many accepted religions but mediumship is considered ‘weird’
  • Our culture tells us what’s accepted
  • In other cultures, talking to spirits is ‘normal’
  • Cultural acceptance and being gay - culture defines what is ok
  • It takes people time to come around to acceptance, if they do
  • The role that fear plays in others acceptance of mediumship
