Trong Kinh Hoa Nghiêm Đức Phật dạy: “Quên mất tâm Bồ Đề mà tu hành các thiện pháp, vẫn gọi là hành động theo Ma Vương”. Vậy nên tâm Bồ đề rất quan trọng, cho nên tâm Bồ Đề được nói đến rất nhiều trong kinh điển của Phật và sau này chư Tổ cũng vậy. Ở Việt Nam, có một áng văn rất nổi tiếng nói về tâm Bồ Đề đó là “Văn khuyến phát tâm Bồ Đề” của Đức vua Trần Thái Tông. Sư Phụ Thích Trúc Thái Minh chia sẻ “Đức vua Trần Thái Tông là vị vua đầu đời của nhà Trần. Ngài là vua nhưng cũng là một Phật tử, một thiền Sư rất thuận thành.
