Tim (00:00):
Hey, and welcome back to another episode.
Every decision you have made so far was based on logic, or you think it was based on logic.
But what if your next breakthrough depends on something beyond logic?
Top performers don't just think, they sense.
And in this episode, we're unlocking the hidden faculty called the sixth sense.
(00:25):
It's your untapped edge for intuitive, visionary leadership.
We're going to be talking about a power that separates high achievers from the herd.
So when we're developing our personal and professional vision for what we want to happen, this
is how we can include what I call the sixth sense into our vision statements.
(00:50):
This is Tim Staton with Tim stating the obvious.
What is this podcast about? It's simple.
You are entitled to great leadership.
Everywhere you go, whether it's a church, whether it's to work, whether it's at your house,
you are entitled to great leadership.
And so in this podcast, we take leadership principles and theories and turn them into everyday, relatable and usable advice. And a quick disclaimer.
(01:15):
This show process or service by trademark, trademark, manufacturer, otherwise does not necessarily
constitute and reply to endorsement of anyone that I employed by or favors them in representation.
The views are expressed here in my show, are my own, expressed, and do not necessarily state
or reflect those of any employer.
So in all the other episodes that we've, that we've talked about, we've had really tangible, concrete ideas.
So the last episode we talked about two principles, which was the mind and the subconscious mind.
(01:36):
We talked about having specialized knowledge.
We've talked about discipline, faith, and desire.
And all of those things are great.
And you need to be able to master the first 10 principles that we've talked about in order for
you to unlock this 11th principle that we're going to talk about now.
And this principle is called the sixth sense.
(01:56):
So what is the sixth sense?
And I wanted to find it.
So that way we both know what we're talking about and we're all on the same page.
So your sixth sense is an intuitive faculty that offers insight, guidance, and clarity.
It's the thing that's, that connects the spiritual realm to the physical realm.
(02:16):
Because if we're only operating in the physical realm without tapping into our higher potential
to our spiritual realm, and for me, that is faith, that is God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
For me, that's what that is.
And so when we tap into our sixth sense, we're connecting our spiritual realm to the physical realm through prayer.
(02:40):
And I just want to let you know that this is not just mystical stuff.
It's, it's not just magic.
It's not fluff, it's not pie in the sky.
It's a powerful culmination of disciplined thinking and action, right?
Because you can believe all you want in yourself, but you must also have faith that it's going to work out.
(03:02):
And faith requires action, if you've heard our previous episodes.
So when we think about it, we need to think about it in this way.
The Sixth sense is the door to the temple of wisdom.
And it's only after we master our desire, our faith, planning and persistence principles can
(03:23):
we really tap in to this one. Okay.
And I know that kind of sounds like pie in the sky stuff, but it's amazing what happens because
I'm pretty sure at some point in time you've gotten a little whisper in your ear that's told
you, hey, you know, maybe.
Maybe you shouldn't invest into that crypto, or, hey, maybe you shouldn't launch this project,
(03:45):
or, hey, maybe you shouldn't turn down the street, or, hey, maybe you should go shake this guy's
hand over here and say hi to him for whatever reason.
And it's beyond your logic.
You just get this feeling that you should do these things, right?
Because now you have officially aligned yourself to what God wants for you to do.
(04:08):
And, and, and that's just what it is.
So when you are in alignment with God, not the other way around, when you want God to be in
alignment with you because that doesn't work, you have to be in alignment with him.
And when he tells you you need to do something, you must have faith in that.
And then that requires action.
So you will get these, these, these divine downloads, as I call them, as like a little whisper
(04:30):
of hey, you should probably do this, or hey, you should probably do that.
It doesn't make any sense and defies all logic, but it works out to everybody's benefit and
it's mutually beneficial for everybody.
So here's why this matters for your vision, right?
We have to connect the dots.
Vision isn't just a list of goals.
It's a calling for your life. It is.
(04:50):
What we've talked about over the last several weeks is it's a culmination of how do you align
yourself for your vision, for what God wants you to do?
And if, and if you haven't gotten that point yet, well, that's, that's kind of the whole point
that I'm making in this episode is we need to align ourselves to what God wants us to do and be in our calling.
(05:12):
And that's why it's called a calling, is because everyone has been given a mission on the face
of this earth to do something and everyone's mission is different.
And I wholeheartedly believe that everybody's calling is different.
For the longest time when I was growing up, I, I always wanted to serve in the military in any capacity whatsoever.
I didn't care what it was.
(05:33):
In fact, when I was graduating from high school and my grades weren't that good because I didn't
really care about school and I really didn't apply myself and I was like, because I wanted to
be in the military, I don't really care.
So I thought about it and I was like, man, I need to get my grades right.
I need to at least try to get a 3.0 before I graduate.
Because it was pretty bad.
My fault, but pretty bad.
(05:53):
And so I talked to everybody.
Single recruiter, I talked to the Marine Corps recruiter, I talked to the Air Force recruiter,
I talked to the army recruiter, and I talked to the Navy recruiter.
I said, hey, I just want to serve, okay?
The Marine Corps, they were like, hey man, we got you.
You're physically fit, you're motivated, we'll feed you three times a day and you always have
a place to sleep and you'll be good to go.
(06:13):
And I was like, bet, I am sold on that.
Three meals a day and a place to sleep, yo, that's awesome.
And you going to pay me? Absolutely.
Then I talked to the Air Force recruiter, he goes, hey, look, I'm not gonna waste your time.
You're not smart enough for us. Cool.
Thank you for not wasting my time.
I talked to the Navy recruiter and they're like, yeah, you could join, that's cool.
(06:35):
But we don't want you to do what you want to do.
We want you to be an airplane mechanic.
And I was like, nah, I kind of want to be a SEAL though.
And that was like a desire that I had even though I couldn't swim.
So it was a really stupid desire that I had.
And I'm still not a good swimmer today because I don't really practice or apply myself.
So that's a self induced desire, lack of discipline.
(06:55):
But anyway, so I was like, okay, I'm not going to do that.
I'm not going to do the Navy.
So I talked to the army recruiter and I was like, hey, look, this is what I want to do and I just want to serve.
And he goes, okay, cool.
I said, but hey, I also want to go to college too.
So can you get me into college?
And he goes, yeah, yeah, I'll talk to the different colleges.
I said, okay, look, this is what I'll do.
If you can get me into Eastern Carolina University or App State, those are the schools that
(07:17):
I applied to and you give me a scholarship, I'll join the simultaneous membership program, which
is like you go enlisted for a little bit, then you join the ROTC program and then you get out of your.
And then you become an officer and then you kind of move on while I'm actively trying to find
anybody and everybody to enlist me into the military because that's what I nately I wanted to do to serve.
(07:38):
I got a 3.5 index card in the mail that said, how would you like to become an army officer?
And half the time it takes everybody else fill out your information here and send it back, no postage necessary.
And immediately I thought, this is a scam.
There's no way that this is a real thing.
There's no way that I'm going to get accepted into this accelerated program because my grades are horrible.
(08:05):
You know, the Navy and the Air Force already told me, like I really wasn't that smart.
So, you know, there's no way, you know, with my SAT score and everything else that I'm going
to get into this place.
So I fill out the information on the card and then I get a phone call from a Major Thomas hall.
And I, I answered the phone as the landline, you know, back, back then because, you know, we're
(08:25):
so advanced now with all this wireless stuff.
I had the house phone. Phone rings. I answered the phone.
He was like, hey, is this Tim Staton?
I was like, yes, this is, this is, this is him.
And he goes, hey, this is Major Tom hall down at Georgia Military College.
I got your information in the, in the mail and I'd love for you to come down, take a look at
the college, have lunch with you and see if this is a good fit.
I got a full ride scholarship for you if you wanted it.
(08:48):
And I was, I was blown away.
I was like, hey, I wouldn't talk to my mom.
Dad said, hey, look, you know, you guys want me to go to college.
I want to serve in the military.
That's both the lines for both what we want.
Hey, can we drive to Georgia and see what this is about?
So we did, we go there and it was a great school, is a great fit.
Long story short, I end up going.
Now I say that because all of my plans to do all of these other things to enlist in the military
(09:12):
really had no bearing on what was actually meant in store for me because a little three by five
card came in the mail as the whisper of just fill me out.
Like, what's the worst that can happen?
They tell you no, everybody else told you no.
And that was my mindset, right?
Like, oh, sure, I'll fill it out, right?
Like, sure, you're going to say no anyway, but whatever, I don't have to pay the 25 cents for a stamp. I'm good.
(09:36):
But it turned out right.
That is your sixth sense, that is you aligning yourself into your calling.
Now, I also believe that we have multiple callings in our life and we all turn over and go into
different things as we have different phases, right?
But that is, that is like the essence of what I'm talking about.
You get this little whisper, this little gut feeling of do this instead.
(09:58):
You know, and then once I got accepted and I went and everything else and, and before I even
went, I actually had to tell the other army recruiter who was literally driving the entire state
of North Carolina to the both schools and trying to talk to different people about getting me in.
And I had to tell them, say, hey, look, I'm sorry, this is the route I'm going to go instead, I've already accepted offer.
I'm going to get a full ride scholarship and I don't have to pay any money out of pocket and
(10:20):
they're going to pay me every month.
So thank you for all your hard work, but I don't really need your help anymore, so thank you.
And I felt bad because, like, man, this guy was really, really working hard for me, but he was
also working hard for himself because he had to get a number.
But it wasn't within my calling to go that route.
And if I had not listened to that intuitive voice that said, just fill it out, send it in, I
(10:43):
never would be where I am today, 23 years later, after having a successful military career and transitioning into something else.
So when people try to apply logic to that situation, it doesn't make sense, right?
I just knew that I wanted to serve in the military in any capacity.
And I was open to say, I don't care what it is, I am going to do it.
(11:03):
And God, in return said, I hear that you hear my calling of telling you what you need to do
for your life in this season.
So here, here is the way forward for you.
Your other plans aren't gonna work out. Do this one.
And in that instant, I connected the spiritual realm with the physical realm to do what needed to be done.
And so when you apply your logic to situations into your vision, it works partially.
(11:27):
It's like half the plan.
It's not the whole plan because you only get half the vote.
And the sixth sense helps you see what logic can't.
It's your alignment, your timing and your calling.
And I hope that little story, the true story, right, of what happened with me when I was a young
high school graduate going off into college, helped prepare my path for the future and all the
(11:50):
amazing things that happened along the way, right?
And it gets the things that you can't see in alignment.
Here's the next part that, that's really hard because what I'm going to tell you is when I was
that age, I was not in a place in my life where I am now where I could consciously do these things, right?
(12:10):
Because I didn't have those other principles developed.
I didn't have those other skills developed that we had talked about prior to now, right?
So how can we implement our sixth sense and connect our spiritual with our physical realm?
Well, the first step is you need to fully prepare yourself, right? You need to prepare.
(12:34):
You must first clarify your desire, build your faith, and take consistent action.
And I've really been wrestling with the idea of belief and faith over the last couple weeks
and in my own personal study of learning principles, because I really want to learn principles
in life and then implement them and be actionable instead of just learning something for an episode.
(12:59):
So what I'm really doing is I'm learning things and implementing them and then sharing them with you.
I think that's probably the most effective way to do it.
So you really have to prepare yourself, clarify your desire.
It's okay to tell God what you want.
It's okay to tell Jesus what you want and say, hey, this is what I want.
And then ask, is this in alignment with what you want for me?
(13:19):
And if you seek what he wants to seek, then you probably are going to find an alignment somewhere,
somewhere way, and God will help you find that.
It's not going to happen overnight, it's going to happen over a period of time.
And then when I say you need to build your faith, right, that means you need to believe that
what you're doing is what God called you to do and then act upon it.
And oftentimes I've been hearing, you know, lately when I, when I look at things and I'm praying
(13:44):
about things, I'm like, hey, you know, how do I Do this?
How do I do this?
You know, I don't have this.
My bank account looks like this. This is what happens.
And when God calls and asks you to do something out of belief and faith, he's not doing it based
on what you currently have, because what you currently have is never going to be enough.
You just have to know that if you do it, it's going to be enough because he's going to make it work.
(14:05):
So, for example, I'm going to use a story of the fish in the loaves.
So everyone is, you know, around Jesus, there's a sermon on the mountain and you know, people are getting hungry.
They've been there for a couple days and like, hey, Jesus, we got to feed people.
They've been here, they're in the hot sun, we got to feed them, but we don't have anything.
And Jesus, like, you have, you have everything you need.
He will just grab your fish, grab your loaves, bring it to me, put it in your basket. And they're like, okay.
(14:32):
So they do it right, but the belief really isn't there, so they do it.
And then he goes, okay, what I want you to do is take the fish, take the loaves, give it to
a group of people, have them eat as much as they want.
When they're done with whatever they want, have them put it back in the basket and give it to
the next group of people, and so forth, and so forth and so forth.
And at the end, they had way more fish and bread than when they even started at the beginning.
(14:52):
And I'm paraphrasing the whole story here.
If you want to know more, please go in your Bible and read it.
But God didn't say feed everybody.
Go to Costco, go to Walmart, go to Food Line, go wherever, buy a whole bunch of food and then
come back here and prepare it.
He said, no, use what you have and it will be enough.
And it will be more than enough because he will make it that way.
And that's what we're talking about, connecting the spiritual with the physical realm is we
(15:16):
have to get to a place where we know, okay, you tell me to do it, I'm going to do it.
And it's going to work out.
That belief plus the action of doing it based on that belief is your faith.
And you have to build that up.
And it's hard because doubt creeps in.
So do things to auto suggest to yourself to eliminate doubt because you got, you're never going to replace the doubt.
(15:36):
You have to replace it with A different thought of positivity, of auto suggesting that God's
going to take care of it.
And you got to be consistent.
You got to be consistent with what you're doing every single day.
And you've got to do that every day, all the time, multiple times a day, preparing yourself.
Okay, so the next thing that we need to do is you need to provide a space for maximum silence
so that you can hear what he's telling you to do.
(16:00):
Because the sixth sense doesn't shout.
It's not gonna be like, hey, this is exactly what you need to do, right?
It shows up in times of stillness and silence.
How many times in the Bible have you heard of the phrase of, you know, Jesus, God spoke in a whisper.
(16:20):
It's like the wind of a mountain just whispering by, right?
I mean, we have the burning bush and we have other things, but most of the time, the spirit
of God is like a wind, as it's mentioned in the Bible in Hebrew and in Greek, right?
It's the wind, it's the spirit, right?
So when we have so much noise going on around us that we can't focus and be still and be silent
(16:43):
and listen, you're going to miss it.
So one thing that I do is I literally put headphones on and exclude myself into silence.
So that way, when I'm listening, when I'm connecting, when I'm.
When I'm reading, what's in the word?
And then I'm writing it down and I'm journaling and I'm writing and I'm praying, and I ask like,
(17:03):
okay, what do you want me to do?
What is in your alignment?
How do I match this up?
And I listen, and then I get a thought and I write it down, and I'm like, okay, God, is this
really what you're telling me to do?
Like, you want me to do X, Y, and Z?
And I write it down, and if that same thought comes in my head, I write down, okay, this is the thought. And then, right?
What I do is if I get it, if I get another thought in my head, I go, okay, well, I got all of
(17:27):
these thoughts that are coming to me, and they're not necessarily mine.
I don't know where they're coming from. I write them down. And then I.
And I pray and I pray and I pray for hours.
And it's in the morning and it's in the evening.
And it's also, you know, during.
During quiet times at lunch or sometimes I'll just shut my door and I'll just Seclude myself
and I'll just think about it and I'll immerse myself into silence.
(17:50):
Because prayer connects the spiritual realm to the physical realm, much like everything else
that we're talking about today.
And you constantly need to be in a state of prayer about what you're doing and is it in alignment, right?
The other thing that we need to do is we need to trust, right?
So the sixth sense often gives us clues.
They're not always like full blueprints.
(18:12):
Like, for example, in my case, I got the 3 by 5 card in the mail.
How would you like to be an army officer?
And half the time it takes everybody else.
Me, I was on my path trying to get the Navy to be a SEAL and these other things in the army.
And I'm like, okay, well, I want to do all these things, but I don't want to spend a lot of time doing it.
I want to do it so God's like, okay, well, here, just fill out this piece of paper and I'll
take care of everything else.
It didn't shout out at me.
(18:33):
It didn't come to me as like a big flashy thing. It was very.
It was black and white.
There was no colors on it.
It was very like I could have thrown it out of the junk mail.
And I'm glad I did, right?
But I trusted that if I filled it out that something good was gonna happen.
I had doubt, but I still trusted that it was gonna happen.
And then, you know, you got it, you gotta test it, right?
(18:55):
I trusted, I mailed it in, I tested my faith that it was going to happen.
And then bam, it happened and I got the result.
And you got to do these things in small steps, right?
So start with what you know.
Take small steps in the right direction and help you build the insight to be able to see and hear and listen.
And then it will bring you peace and clarity and it'll bring you creative energy for you to
(19:19):
be able to, like, lean into those things, to be able to fully immerse yourself into it and go, you know what?
Yes, this is the right path.
This is what I need.
This is the sixth sense.
This is what I'm getting.
So I hope that all makes sense.
So to recap that, what we need to do is prepare ourselves, clarify what you want.
Is it in alignment with what God wants for you?
Build faith and take consistent action.
(19:41):
Then you have to provide a space to listen constantly. Be in prayer.
The third step is you need to trust. Test and refine.
You think you're Being told what you do to do.
Test it out if it brings you peace and in the right direction, and that's on the right thing.
If it's not, then it's probably not redo it.
Start small, then work bigger.
So those are the three things that we need to do to prepare. So here's a common.
(20:04):
Here's a couple common obstacles though, that we need to watch out for. Noise.
Too much noise kills your intuition and kills your ability to be able to listen. Doubt.
People dismiss divine nudges as random thoughts.
If you get a random thought, write it down.
It doesn't matter what it is. Write it down.
Make a note of it.
It is a completely random stray voltage. Write it down.
(20:27):
Okay, I'm not saying everything is good that comes to you, but write it down. All right?
The other thing is being impatient.
And I struggle with this so much.
I want things to happen on my time schedule. Guess what?
It's not going to happen.
We need to know that we have clarity, not speed.
For example, nobody gets mad when, you know, if you're married and your spouse gets pregnant
(20:51):
and you're excited to have a baby.
You know it takes nine months to have a baby.
You're not going to be impatient and say, I need to have the baby tomorrow.
I want my kid now.
I want the baby tomorrow.
Because you know if you do that, it's going to be deformed.
It takes time to process.
It takes time to develop and to mature into the baby.
It's supposed to be to handle the world.
(21:11):
That's the same thing for everything else.
Everything has a specific time assigned to it.
Just because you don't know what that time is doesn't mean it's not working.
It just means it's not in your time frame. So don't be impatient.
So how do we overcome impatience?
Know that everything takes a specified amount of time.
And just because you don't know the time doesn't mean it's wrong. Pray for more patience. Doubt auto.
(21:35):
Suggest to yourself that it's going to work.
Surround yourself with people like we talked about before, with that mastermind mentality to
help you eliminate that doubt that everything's going to happen.
And when you get these random nudges, you can talk about them, you can share them. Eliminate the noise.
Too much noise kills your thought and your intuition and your divine connection. Quiet the noise.
(21:59):
So what can we do next?
Right, so here's what I'm going to offer up to you for what we need to do to make this applicable today.
I want you to think about what desire has been pressing on you lately.
What is like the one or two things that you feel like you just have to do? Write it down.
And then where do you feel that pull coming from?
(22:20):
Does it make any logical sense?
If it does, write it down.
If it doesn't, write it down. This makes no sense.
But I'm going to do it anyway.
And then are you making room to listen to that inner whisper of intuition, to that sixth sense
tell you what you need to do?
I would challenge you to spend 10 minutes today in silence asking this question.
(22:45):
What vision am I being called to pursue?
And then write it down.
Then re listen to this episode and incorporate all of those things plus the other 10 principles
that we've talked about and incorporate that into your vision.
If you do these things, you're going to see such a greater difference in your vision and your
(23:09):
clarity and in your life. Guarantee it.
I hope you enjoyed this episode.
