The One who afflicts us is the One who knows us, loves us, and preserves us.
The Lord is always good - even in affliction.
What are things we long for? Do we long for the things of this world, or the things of the Lord? Do we want God's good gifts or do we long for Him?
God's Word is our source of comfort in our afflictions.
God has demonstrated His love for us in providing salvation through His Son Jesus. Our response is a demonstration of our love for Him - obedience to His law.
The Psalm petitions the Lord to turn his whole life to Him - he enters God's school of sanctification.
