(Podcast-interview in English after a short introduction in Swedish. English text below)

Can the 70s Oil Crisis Teach Us About Energy Transition?

Jessica Jewell blends technology and social sciences in her research. By studying historical energy transitions, she aims to discover which climate actions have the greatest potential for rapid implementation and impact. While we understand much about reducing carbon dioxide emissions from a natural science perspective, it's often political and economic factors that hinder or accelerate society's transition.

Jessica Jewell is a professor in the Division of Physical Resource Theory at the Department of Space, Earth and Environment at Chalmers University of Technology, and a Senior Lecturer at the University of Bergen, Norway. She has previously worked at universities and research institutes in countries including the USA, Hungary, France, and Austria. She has also contributed as an author to the UN's climate and energy reports and serves on the editorial board for several scientific journals.
