Now let's explorethe heart of Thanksgiving together.
Today we're looking at how we can shareour Thanksgiving with others.
We're going to look at first, at first
Thessalonians five, verse11 from the English standard version
of the Bible, and it says, Encourageone another and build each other up.
(00:47):
It urges us to build each other upand encourage each other.
So let's look at how we can encourageothers and build each other up.
Just as we're told herein the first Thessalonians five, verse 11,
why is it so important to lifteach other up and build each other up?
First of all, we want to obey God's Word.
But second of all,it creates such a positive atmosphere
(01:09):
within your home, within your work, and within your community.
Let's read Proverbs 1624.
This time we'll look at the
new international version, which says gracious words are a honeycomb
sweet to the souland healing to the bones.
We're reminded here
that our words have the powerto heal and uplift those around us.
Gracious words rooted in gratitude, can be a source of spiritual
(01:32):
nourishment for someone else.
When we express our thankfulness
and encouragement,we contribute to a cycle of positivity.
We contribute to a cycle of growth inuplifting our communities and each other.
Gratitude turns into more gratitude
and encouragementand turns into more encouragement.
The tongue is so powerfulas we're reminded in James Chapter two.
Life and deathcan be in the power of the tongue.
(01:54):
We can either tear someone down or liftsomeone up just through words.
So let's choose to lifteach other up with our words.
Find ways to encourage people.
This is both a spiritual practicethat we are encouraged to do in the Bible,
but it's also a very practicalfor your everyday life.
In my job, I often write performancereviews for people,
and as we're trained to dothis, we're instructed
(02:15):
that for each area of opportunitywhere someone might need
to increase their work levelor their work skill, you share it in a way
that is coupled with at least one areathat they're doing well. So.
So you can see, you know, Johnny
or Susie, you're doing really wellwith how you're doing, your status reports
and how you're setting up your meetingsand everything is very detailed.
(02:37):
Just one small thing.
We'd like to have those done on Thursdaysby noon and make that a regular habit
of sending those out.
But otherwise, you're doing a great job.
Just an encouraging word to lift them up.
Coupled, coupled with an opportunityfor improvement can help someone
not feel likethey're being cut down all the time.
And again, you say, I'm thankful.
(02:58):
I appreciate everything you're doingand I'm thankful for you.
Gratitude when cultivated, has the powerto transform the environments
in which we live and work.
A culture of gratitudecan create a more positive
and uplifting atmosphere in our homes, our workplaces and our communities.
Colossians 317.
Also from the new international version,
encourages us in whatever you do,whether in word and deed, do it
(03:18):
all in the name of the Lord Jesus givingthanks to God the Father Through Him.
We're reminded in this verse
that our actions and wordscan be infused with gratitude.
They should be infused with gratitude.
When we approach life and thankfulness,we honor God and uplift those around us
by aligning our actions with gratitude,
we can create an environmentwhere others feel appreciated and valued.
(03:40):
This, in turn, fosters a culture ofpositivity and mutual support.
So how can we put thisconcept into action?
How can we share our Thanksgivingwith others?
Well, the other daywe talked about random act of kindness.
We we talked about expressionsof love and gratitude and to others.
And we touched ongratitude journaling earlier as well,
which can be a very good practiceof sharing and writing down your
(04:04):
Thanksgiving to the Lord.
There are many other waysthrough working in our community,
through working, volunteeringand so forth.
One way to amplify the impact of gratitudewithin your community is to initiate
a gratitude challenge.
Maybe in your little neighborhoodwhere you live, you could encourage others
to share their gratitude openly.
Maybe put a thankfulness boardby your mailbox and encourage
(04:27):
each other to share a little notesof encouragement to each other.
Hebrews 1024 says,Let us consider how we may
spur one another on towardlove and good deeds.
We are encouragedto be kind of a sparkplug, to encourage
good deeds in love in our communityand within those around us.
This verse encourages us to inspireone another to acts of love and kindness.
(04:49):
We can collectively build
a gratitude community,a grateful community, and they can.
These little challengescan be a powerful way to motivate people.
So take a moment to reflect on how you canshare your gratitude with others.
Is it a challenge within youryour little neighborhood?
Someone in my community has a little shelfwith Give a book.
(05:09):
Take a book, and there's books out there
that you could justliterally walk up and take.
And you can leave one for somebody else.
And it's sucha great expression of sharing
and how we an impact in our community.
You can walk up, grab a book
and read it, give it back, or maybe dropone for somebody else to read.
So use your creativity.
Think of waysyou can inspire people around you.
(05:31):
Begin your gratitude journey by sharinggratitude with someone close to you.
A simple thank you or an act of kindnesscan go a long way in uplifting others.
I'd also like to encourage youto think of a gratitude challenge.
Maybe it's even just in your own home.
