In this episode today,
we focus on the true essence of Christmas, and that is worship.
We're going to readLuke two verses 13 through 14,
and we find the angels announcingthe birth of Jesus to the shepherds.
(00:44):
It says,Suddenly there was with the angel,
a multitude of heavenly hosts praising Godand saying, Glory to God in the highest
and on earth, peaceamong those with whom He is pleased.
This powerful scene paintsa picture of celestial angels
worshiping the newborn king.
Their words Glory to God in the highestbecame the anthem of Christmas.
(01:04):
And it reminds us that the birth of Jesuswas not just a historical event,
but a divine interventionworthy of our deepest adoration.
Throughout the Bible, we see countlessexamples of people worshiping God.
We know that Adam and Eve worshiped Godafter receiving his blessings in Genesis.
We also know that Moses, as he was leadingthe Israelites
(01:25):
through the crossing of the Red Seaand Exodus 15, that he was leading them
and singing praises.
He wrote a song of praiseto the Lord after worshiping
and thanking the KingDavid on many occasions would worship
and praise the Lordbefore the Ark of the Covenant.
You can see many examples throughout firstand second Samuel and so forth.
Worship is not just a ceremonyor a tradition.
(01:48):
It's a responseto God's love, grace and power.
It's an expression of our deepestgratitude and reverence to God.
So Christmas is a time for familygatherings, gift giving and, of course,
festive celebrations.
But amidst all the hustleand bustle of life and all of the
excitement as we celebrate Christmastogether, it's crucial
(02:09):
not to lose sight of the true reasonfor this season, and that's to celebrate
the birth of our savior, Jesus Christ.
So today, I'd like you to ask yourself,
how often do we truly worshipGod in our daily lives?
Do we allow distractions of the worldto overshadow our devotion to him?
If so, as we dial in towardsthis Christmas season,
let's commit to making worship a priority.
(02:30):
Let's fill our hearts with joyand gratitude for the precious gifts
we received in Jesus Christ.
So here are some practical ways we canintegrate worship into our daily routine.
First is to dedicate quiet time each dayfor prayer and reflection on God's Word.
I like to do it in the mornings.
Some people like to do it at night.
You can do it both times if you wish.
(02:50):
As you wake upand as you go to bed to dedicate time
to for prayer and reflectionon God's Word,
participate in worship servicesas you go to your church.
If if you are not one of those ones
who likes to sing or raise your handsor worship, that's okay.
Maybe focus a few minutesto participate in the worship services,
(03:11):
sing the hymns or songs with enthusiasmand reflect
on what they are sayingabout our relationship with God.
You can also express your loveand gratitude
to God through acts of service andkindness and share your faith with others.
Invite them to the experienceof joy and worship in God's presence.
So as we embark on this Christmas season, let's remember the words of the angels.
(03:33):
Glory to God in the highest.
Let our lives be reflection of His praisefilled with worship,
joy and love for our Savior.
