(00:01):
It's time to replace your windows.
Everybody.
You didn't know that well,
yeah,
it is.
It probably is.
Hi,
Lyndol.
How you doing?
Wonderful.
How are you?
I'm doing well.
I know this guy Lyndol.
Woodruff,
Woodruff Windows,
Greater D F W area.
He is the guy when you need windows.
You should be thinking of him and his family is his,
his dad's been in the business since 80 82.
(00:24):
84.
What year?
82 1982 82.
I remember back in 82.
I,
it was my 40th birthday and,
yeah.
No,
come on,
whatever.
Yeah,
I take Geritol and you young people don't know what that is Geritol is a vitamin for old people.
Well,
it used to be anyway.
It's good to see you.
Hey,
questions come up.
(00:46):
How should I prepare my home for replacement windows?
It's interesting.
Right.
How do you prepare your house for a new roof?
Just make sure your vehicles are away so they can throw the shingles on the ground.
But that's kind of simple.
I think it's a little more complicated but not too complicated for windows.
Tell us how it's done first off.
I just want to say it could not be more perfect timing for this question because we,
(01:09):
we get,
we learned a valuable lesson this week.
Wonderful family.
We're doing a job for just literally this week.
And me,
normally I communicate really well,
letting them know what's going on.
You know,
this is five windows upstairs.
So,
you know,
I,
I guess I just assumed based on our three or four conversations in the home,
(01:30):
I don't know,
anyways,
whatever they were really blindsided when my guys got there and told them what all they needed to do to get the job done because they were under the impression that we didn't even need to come inside,
that we could just do the windows from the outside and they had just gotten brand new carpet and,
you know,
so many things and the,
(01:50):
the lady of the house,
she's such a sweetheart and she's also,
uh,
a prepper.
You know,
she wants to prepare for everything and I felt so bad because they were so blindsided and they all scrambling to cover stuff up and try to get ready.
So I will say,
uh,
to prepare,
we are going to come into the home.
We do need full access.
Um,
you know,
(02:11):
we'll bring vacuums and all kinds of stuff to make sure whenever we're done,
everything's vacuum up,
cleaned up behind us.
Uh,
my guys actually vacuum after each window and they have a great system to where they go in unison.
So we just wanna make sure,
make sure nothing's blocking the window because we do need access from the inside.
So like three or four ft walkway.
Um,
you know,
if there's any pictures around the window,
(02:32):
make sure you take them off the wall because you know,
there is some pounding that goes on.
We don't want them to vibrate off the wall and hit the ground and break.
So,
you know,
any surrounding stuff that could be breakable,
just kind of make sure that's out of the way.
We have full access to the window and that,
that's,
that's really it.
Blind blinds and shutters.
You know,
if you've got some blinds,
it does help.
If you take those down in advance,
(02:54):
my guys will put them back up for you,
for sure,
um,
properly.
So,
uh all those things help any way that you can prepare full access to the window from the inside helps tremendously and,
and makes the job go a lot smoother and quicker.
Yeah,
it's,
um,
it's not too much prep,
(03:16):
but there is some,
but it's like there's some,
but this isn't like getting your master bath or your kitchen remodeled.
That's,
that's more invasive.
Um,
because you're talking about having to demo stuff inside the house with dust and you basically can't use your bathroom or kitchen for weeks.
This isn't the case,
right.
Well,
there,
there is some dust for sure.
(03:38):
That's why we cover stuff with drop cloth,
drop cloths and all of that because,
you know,
we're,
we're ripping the whole old frame out and those things have been separate,
uh have been attached to that mortar and that opening for,
for years.
So we have to p prime and buckle that metal frame and separate the,
the nailing fin from the old mortar.
And then we use the sawa like once that we start with getting the glass out.
(04:01):
So once the glass pans,
the old glass pans come out,
then we're left with the frame.
So in order for it to buckle properly and come out of that opening,
we have to take a saws on saw and half that metal part of the frame in the middle.
So it all buckles together.
So when it separates from those nail fins,
yeah,
there's,
there's dust.
Absolutely.
Um But it's not near the same as doing a remodeling project for sure.
(04:24):
And my guys,
you know,
some of the Google reviews that we have are literally paragraphs of people writing how happy they are are with how clean we left the place whenever we left and how they clean up after each window,
they've got a system,
they vacuum,
they're,
they're doing everything that they can to get it back to how they found it.
If not better.
(04:44):
That is the goal.
Leave it better than how you found it.
So we also do ask while the guys are there working,
please don't bother them.
Don't.
Chicken Hawk,
don't stand over their shoulder and ask them questions about every single thing that they're doing.
It really makes the job a lot harder.
So these guys are professionals.
They've been doing it for years.
(05:05):
You can trust who we have in your home.
That's one thing that sets us apart.
We don't use random people,
but I will say it does make it hard on my guys if you're asking them a question every five seconds,
just let them do their job back away,
go to the other room,
whatever.
And whenever they're finished,
they'll do a walk through with you,
they'll show you everything,
(05:25):
they'll answer any questions.
If you see some touch ups that you would like done,
we can take care of it then,
but I promise you it is not necessary to bird dog.
Our,
our gentlemen,
they're fantastic.
