(00:02):
Windows are something we don't think a lot about,
but it'd be odd to buy a home without windows.
It'd be kind of dark and depressing.
It be hard to see things,
uh,
during the day as we're usually able to see during the day.
So I've asked my good friend Lyndol Woodruff to join me from Woodruff Windows today.
Lyndol.
How are you?
Amazing today and every day,
(00:23):
how are you?
I'm fantastic.
Thank you.
So I want to talk about good reasons for replacing old windows and,
and so I'm gonna throw out a couple,
but you're the expert,
but obviously,
efficiency,
people may not be able to see out of their old windows because they might be fogging up.
Um,
you know,
it could be because,
uh,
they live on a busy street and it's loud outside and they need a better window.
(00:46):
Those are just some reasons.
But why don't you tell everybody your top reasons?
I think one of the number one of the number one things that I hear a lot from homeowners,
um,
is they can't open their windows and they're sick of staring at the grids like the,
the bars in the glass and it,
it really obstructs the views.
(01:08):
So,
you know,
a lot of the homes that were built in the eighties and nineties or whatever,
they all have grids in the glass.
So that's one of the things that I hear the most.
I can't open my window.
I would love to be able to open my window without spraining my wrist and I would like a clear view of my beautiful backyard.
I've got a nice swimming pool.
You know,
I wanna be able to see it so I wanna get the grids out,
(01:29):
open it up a little bit more.
Um,
but I hear a lot of,
you know,
drafting people can feel the outside weather on the inside of their home.
Um,
all that stuff can be completely eliminated with a,
a properly installed energy efficient window and really open up your view and make it a lot more beautiful and comfortable and,
(01:51):
and all of that there,
there's a laundry list of things.
When you look at a house with windows that are 15 years old or brand new,
you can't always tell right away until you get up close and until you start living in that house,
it's kind of like a car.
The cars of,
of the past 10 years are quieter.
(02:12):
They run longer.
They're,
they're more efficient.
The same thing is true of windows.
Right.
Oh,
100%.
Yeah.
The technology that's in the glass and the construction of the frame and how,
how it works to really keep the weather out and keep your ac and your heater in and eliminate noise and prevent your furniture and artwork and your floors from being faded by the harmful U V arrays.
(02:38):
I mean,
I,
I like to,
I like to compare it to polarized ray band sunglasses compared to cheap sunglasses.
It's literally like putting polarized ray bands on your home to protect it from all the outside elements.
And while you're doing that,
you're lowering your bills because your ac doesn't have to work near as hard to keep your home the same temperature.
(02:59):
Yeah,
that's a good point.
The air conditioning,
a lot of people say I need a new air conditioning system.
You may need new windows instead,
maybe the AC might be fine.
It just can't keep up.
It's one of the biggest culprits.
It,
it probably is the biggest culprit for energy efficiency is windows.
And you know,
people think most of the time insulation or,
and yeah,
that stuff plays a part.
But one of the biggest things is windows.
(03:21):
That's why we choose to do windows.
People say you just say that because you do windows.
No,
we do windows because it is one of the most beneficial that we,
we chose it for a reason,
you know.
Yeah,
a lot of people don't think of energy efficiency um when they think of windows,
but truly,
especially in Texas um in the heat of the summer,
(03:42):
it makes a huge,
huge difference and also on the cold days that we get.
And so it's,
it's really important to consider windows.
A lot of people are thinking air conditioning and insulation,
only windows play a huge factor.
Hey Lyndol,
thank you so much for joining me today.
