About 大物(おおもの)

Meanings and Usage:

1. A Big Shot or VIP

            - When used sincerely, 大物(おおもの) refers to someone who is influential or accomplished.

            - Example:     

              あの人(ひと)は政治(せいじ)の世界(せかい)では大物(おおもの)です。 (That person is a big shot in the world of politics.)

 

2. A Person with a Big Personality or Presence

            - It can describe someone with an aura of greatness or a larger-than-life presence.

            - Example:     

              彼女(かのじょ)は新人(しんじん)だけど、大物感(おおものかん)があります。 (She’s a newcomer, but she has the presence of a big deal.)

 

3. Potential for Greatness

            - Sometimes, it’s used to describe someone who shows promise or potential to become a prominent figure.

            - Example:

              彼(かれ)は若(わか)い頃(ころ)から将来(しょうらい)の大物(おおもの)と言(い)われていました。 (He’s been called a future big shot since he was young.)

このポッドキャストは、日本語を勉強している人 のために作りました。
繰り返し、何回も聞いてください。
我が家に新しいメンバー、ポンちゃんという子猫 がやってきたという お話を前回したと思います。

(00:22):
その後、順調にすくすくと成長しています。
「おそらく今、生後 4ヶ月ぐらいじゃないかな。」という ふうに動物病院で言われました。
もらってきた時は手のひらに乗るくらいの大きさだったんです
が、今は両手で抱えるぐらいの大きさにまで大きくなっています。

まだ子猫ですから、まだまだ大きくなるはずです。
今、娘はですね、ポンちゃんと遊ぶ時に肩に乗せて、 こう、歩き回ったりしているん
ですが、これはポンちゃんが大人になったら できないだろうなぁと思っています。
手足の先が結構大きいですし、オスですからかなり

大きな猫になるんじゃないかなと思われます。
さて、ポンちゃんですが、先日初めて動物病院に 連れて行きました。
そこで、なかなかの大物ぶりを 見せてくれました。
猫を入れて運ぶケースの中に入れて車で連れて行っ

たのですが、車の中で一言も声を 出さないんですね。
全然鳴かないんです。
よくあるのは、ケースの中で不安がって、 こう、「ミャオーン」て鳴いたり、 ちょっと騒いだりするなんて
ことがよくあると思うんですが、ポンちゃんは
ずーっと静かで「キュー」っとも言いませんでした。

で、少し予約時間より早めに着いたので、 待合室でずっと待ってたんですね。
30 分ぐらいでしょうか。
待ってました。
その間、一緒に連れて行った犬、マロちゃんはずーっと、 そわそわ、そわそわ
落ち着かない様子で、早く帰りたいという態度を 見せていました。
ドアの方に駆け寄ってみたり、他のワンちゃんにワンと 吠えたりしていました。

(02:14):
まあ、一度だけなんですけれども。
ポンちゃんはどうしているのかなと言うと、 なんとですね、
ケースの中で私の膝の上に乗って丸くなって寝ていました。
「おやおや、大物だね！」と思ったんですけれども、 でも病院です
から、初めての病院ですから、注射とか検査とかありますよね。

(02:38):
予防注射やウンチの検査なんかちょっと嫌なことがあるんですけれども。
ところが、これもすごく静かだったんです。
まあ、平気な顔とまではいかないんですけれども、 とにかく落ち着いていました。
暴れたりもせず、初めてだったからかもしれないんですが、 とにかく静かにしていましたね。

「きっと性格が、こう、大らかで冷静なの かもしれないな。」と。
で、態度も落ち着いていますから、「うーん、これは大物になるな！」と、
親ばかですかね、思いました。

猫も犬も、 1匹 1匹、性格が違いますよね。
昔飼っていたワンちゃんは、動物病院で怖がって おもらししちゃったこともあります。

女の子だったんですけれども。
さて、「男、ポンちゃんはこれから大物に育ってくれ
