(00:00):
And we have somebody very special withus, and I'm excited about this,
mister John O'Brian, John O'Brian, who is the VP of Programming at the
fabulous Fox Theater, one of ourfavorite places, not only in Saint Louis
but on the planets. Well,I love to hear that. Yeah,
love it. Billy has date nightswith this mom. There I do.
We don't miss the show. That'sexactly right. We always go to the

(00:20):
stage. What's the stage curtain call? Every we get there like an hour
and a half before showtime. Glassof wine, well, something to eat
and go enjoy the movie. You'redoing it all right, not so ry
to do it. Make a wholenight of it. That's that's the great
thing about the Fox. I alwayssay, like it is. You know,
I hope you love the show. But if nothing else, it's a
night at the Fox. Have anice dinner, have a nice strength if
you want go see a good show. And speaking of good shows, we're

(00:43):
gonna get to the shows in justa few minutes. You know. One
of the frustrations that I have itis with the people because when I moved
here in nineteen ninety four, goingto the Fox was getting really dressed up.
I still dress up. I thinkyou should. Yeah, I agree
again so many when I see somebodyand just like a T shirt and jeans,
It's like this is a big night. It is special, especially with
just how beautiful. I feel likeI wouldn't fit in there if I wore

(01:04):
a T shirt. Not that youcan't, No, yeah, I mean,
and that's I'm I'm I agree toeverything. I like everyone wearing whatever
they want if they buy a ticket. No, But ultimately, I do
think it is like such a specialplace to like dress it up and have
a nice night. And we havepeople, especially on for a show like
Phantom, where people come in andlike gowns and tuxes are wicked when they

(01:27):
dress up. Oh my gosh,it's frozen, the little girls in costumes.
I mean like it is. It'sincredible though, But yeah, you
know, whatever makes it feel mostcomfortable. By the way, John glowing
this morning, and I would betoo. When you look at the lineup
that we have this Broadway series forthis year at the Fox, is something
worth bragging about. Well, thankyou. No, we are insanely excited
and we're you know, just aboutto open the season. And once we

(01:49):
start, we don't stop and oursubscriptions sold out yet No, so we
staw some subscriptions and I highly recommendpeople move now to get them, because
you know, as soon as Beetlejuicestarts, that subscription will start changing and
you start losing some of those shows. So okay, So when you say
subscription, what does that mean forsomeone who maybe isn't familiar with that.
Yeah, So essentially what we haveis a subscription ticket package where folks can

(02:14):
buy the whole season. So rightnow you get seven or eight shows.
You can add twas to make itan eight show package, but otherwise that
means you get all seven shows. That's what Beetle Juice, It's Mulan Rouge,
Funny Girl, It's so it's reallyyou get a mix of everything.
And that's why we build our subscriptionthe way we do, so that you

(02:36):
get to see the best of Broadwayand all the HOTTA shows that are coming
through town. And these are allTony Winners, the funny Like, I
consider myself a theater rat growing up, but there was still something I'd never
seen before. I'm almost to embarrassedto admit I had never seen leam as
a rob until it came to townand it's my absolutely my favorite, like
from the I want out of there, like I'm good to see this every

(02:57):
time it comes to town. It'sjust the most amazing. It's the same
thing with Mulan Rouge so good.Oh yeah, I mean it's incredible.
Limb Is in this pastime we hadit was just nuts, like the productimus
so good. And you've got twoolder shows that have been revived, Company
and Funny Girl, and they wontheir revival won a lot of Tony's And
the fun thing about that, soyou know Funny Girl, everyone loves Barbara

(03:20):
streisand for that show, Company cameout on the seventies. They're the first
time they'll ever be on the Foxstage. So of our subscription package,
every single show on the subscription ismaking it's Fox debut. That's huge.
It's insane. Like so the factthat this massive Funny Girl, this hit
Funny Girl has taken so long,I mean, what is it fifty years

(03:42):
later and we finally got it.But it's crazy, So it's going to
be nuts. It's really the funwith the people, people who need people
right to break down into the songhere in the studio. I support and
full I'm a huge fan of that. Again, a VP of Programming,
John O'Brien, Are you so whomakes the decision, like, who decide
what shows come through here? Doyou have a big say in that teamwork
makes the dream work? No,but I so I am the person who

(04:06):
kind of goes and scouts the shows. So I'll go to New York or
LA or London and see all thesethings that are coming up. And you
know, a couple other folks atFox will go up to New York to
New York like once a year orso to check out some things. So
it's definitely collaborate. An awful jobthat most this guy, but it is

(04:26):
really collaborative because ultimately, I wantto when I see shows, I'll come
back and say, Okay, thisis what I'm thinking for our package,
this is what I'm thinking to book, and I want to hear feedback from
ticketing about Okay, this is howthis might sell. Marketings feedback is critical
about because you know, we're tryingto build a package that sells well together
and things complement. And also there'sshows where sometimes I'll book a show that

(04:49):
might be a little harder to sell, but it's going to be lifted up
by you know, something that mightsell a little easier. And I know
that people might love the show oncethey get to know it. Yeah,
I mean one of the biggest showexamples of that has come from away and
it's coming back right. It iscoming because people loved it and people no
one knew it when it first came, and I kept having to help people

(05:11):
keep your tickets, keep your tickets. I'm begging you, You're gonna love
this show. And to this daysome of the best feedback I've ever gotten
on a show. It's kind ofit's amazing. I don't know why when
you said that the VP of Programmingfor the Fox was coming in, I
just I don't know why. Ipictured like some old stuffy guy and didn't
the opposite. I'm so in shockover here this morning. Is this cool
hip dude? I love that?So yeah, Beetle Juice. We've got

(05:35):
to Tina the Tina Turner Musical. So Beetle Juice October the tenth, Well,
that's right around the green now.I'm dressing up for that. By
the way, my mom is soexcited for this, she couldn't dress up
my mom is so unique. Shealready kind of looks like beetle juice a
little bit, said Tina Turner Novemberthe fourteenth. That's going to start that
run Missus down Fire in December FunnyGirl January. Company. What it says

(05:59):
this smash musical Company, I don'tknow that I've seen so Company is incredible.
This show is so it's Steven Saneimcame out in nineteen seventy Tony Award
winner. When it came out thisrevival though, the director Mary Anne Elliott,
who was one of the most brilliantdirectors ever. She took the show
and kind of flipped it in someways, so it feels very modern.

(06:24):
And when the show came out inthe seventies, of Bobby, who is
the lead character, is played bya man, but now it's Bobby with
an ie, so it's a womanin the lead role. But it's basically
this woman who is surrounded by allthese couples in her life and everyone's married.
She's just turned thirty five. She'sfeeling this pressure of oh, am

(06:44):
I supposed to be married? AmI supposed to like? I enjoy being
single? Like dating? So you'rekind of seeing her going through that process
with all these couples around her. It's hilarious and it's fun and it's awesome.
I think people love it and thisrevival got some some Oh it's nuts.
Yeah, so I think I pickedup five Tony Awards on winning Best
Revival of a Musical. Patty Laponewas in it. Wow. Definitely a

(07:08):
lot of love. So that's company. That is a February the twenty seventh,
they start. They're run here MulanRouge April the thirty. I know,
Judy, you were really excited aboutMJ. I really cannot wait.
It's it's basically the creative genius thatis Michael Jackson, the music behind the
dancing. Yeah, I'm excited aboutthat. I know nothing else about it.
I mean, the production is phenomenal. You know, it's got a

(07:30):
book by Lynn not Choose this likereally incredible play, right. So the
team behind it is just nuts. The choreo is everything you want. The
design is phenomenal. It's one ofthose shows that every time people see it
in New York they're just absolutely blownaway. You know, I can't what
a great way to close the season. Oh my gosh. And that's made
the twenty eighth, and then youwere talking about it was the night before
Christmas. I love Circus always,Yes, so good. And again this

(07:54):
is just some of the shows becausethen you've got a lot of shows Atlantis,
Morrison's concerts. Yeah, some greatconcerts. Well. Her musical based
on based on our life of JaggedLittle Pill, So it's not based on
her life. It's takes a albumJagged Little Pill, but it's a whole
new story. So it's they've createdthis story about this family and you know
some of their people in their lives. But it's but it brings your music

(08:16):
for music and yeah, yeah, really takes a song and drop it into
a new story. We also haveMamma MIAs so I forgot about that.
Yes, so many good shows, all right, So we want people to
get their tickets right, well, what do you do? Single tickets are
available now for both Beetle Juice andTina or all of them. So a
lot of our shows are on saleright now. Not everything. So there's

(08:37):
a couple of shows like Book ofMormon, we'll go on sale later,
you know. I think Mulan Rougegoes on sale a little later. But
most of the season right now ison sale, and especially Beetle Juice that's
creeping up. To have two weeksof that in October and including Friday at
thirteen, like that is a dreamcome true. So tickets are going fast

(08:58):
for that one. Judy will tellyou my cheat is because we get up
so early, and we usually goin the middle of the week to watch
the shows. I always go atlike just after five o'clock. I always
get the on street parking. Ialways go and I turn around so that
my car is facing Grand right andI pay like two and a half bucks
because you don't have to pay untilseven o'clock, and then I go right
over the curtain call. I havemyself some wine, the snacks. Yeah.

(09:20):
When when the show ends, I'mwrit in my car and just like
two seconds, I'm right on Grandand right out. It's just I could
get ready that fast. I can'tget ready that fast. I'm getting dressed.
It's the next thing I know.I go. I'll just pay for
the parking with the rest. Well, obviously we're really excited. This is
going to be an awesome, awesomeseason. Man. We're very excited and
pumped to have you here in thestudio. Too. Yeah, no,

(09:41):
thanks for having me. We're insanelyexcited. It's a big season for us.
Let me just hope that people willcome out and because there's something for
everyone. That's that's always the goal, and we really think this season people
are gonna have a great time. It's gonna be good, starting with Beetlejuice
again October, the tent through thetwenty second. I have my tickets,
You have your tickets. I do. I can't wait to see it.

(10:01):
