summer, summer, summer, summertill Labor Day, and it feels like
it. Although everybody's eyes so hot. The little rain this week. I
was thankful for the rain. Itsaves me on my water bill, but
also natural water. However, pollutedis better than what's coming out of your

(00:44):
pipes for grass growth. And Iam trying to stave off a growing you're
in the Scybe dogs. I'm adog person, I'm a dog I am.
And so my dogs announced themselves, all the other dog from behind the
nine one one garage, door service, dot com gates gates, and so

(01:04):
the dogs announced themselves. So allthe other dogs that are walked through the
neighborhood have to stop and infuriate mydogs by marking. And there's the same
spot. So there's a growing dog. You're an acid burning can I fence
that that's something called the ha I'mgonna fence that so anyway, So and

(01:25):
I've also got a bird bath inthe middle of my yard that's elevated on
a hill that he just gets allto scorts. So look story short rain
this week, filling up some grassareas. I know I could go buy
sod and that's what I'll end uphaving to do. But anyway, so
it's been a rest spits and Ienjoy that. I recorded the first hour

(01:46):
of today's program in the nine oneone garage door Service dot Com studios using
the Roadcaster six thousand with the Farrellphone patch, like Janice Farrell not a
farrel cat ye coming up. There'sa rumor out there on the internets about
the Right Reverend Robert L. Mungle, the one of the original Whiskey Brothers,

(02:10):
the one of the founders of membersof the Whiskey Brothers, and there's
a route so he and I wecollaborated together over the years on many projects.
But we so we did outlaw theseworld wide headquarters together. He in
the ended taken over the kitchen andwas helping with all that, and they
did a bunch of Whiskey brother podcasts. There and so there's a rumor on
the internet. So we're gonna gethim on the jingle Jangle and find out

I mean obviously the Lone Star Rallyin and of itself as a premiere event,
but we're excited about our participation andit has expanded now. Traditionally it
was a destination for the steven RanchRide, and now the Ranch Ride is
a parade around the island, butstill police escorted, but working with the

(08:00):
There was absolutely nothing inappropriate about myprogramming. What you'd like to be
stech naked in a pile with ahill billy girl pointing it, you would
laughing, Oh my god, that'shot. This is the Outlaw Dave Show
on KPRC nine fifty. Right, reverd Robert Monger. Ladies and gentlemen,

(08:24):
what do you what are you doing? Aboudy? I'm driving across the town
right now. Uh? Are youwere hanging out with your dad? Did
you tell him? I said,hi, no, but I'll be sure
to mention that the what's that about? Why why did you you were?
You? Were? You? Hey? I'm helping my dad, and he
didn't go who are you talking to? Son? Uh? Well, yeah,

(08:45):
yeah, that was it. Yeah, okay, I'll tell him.
I'll tell him, ill you nextever, I don't care. I love
your dad. Uh so your momI'm more worried about, but only because
of you. So there was anannouncement on Facebook this week by the tiki
bar my estro known as Been Mobrayand yeah, he said, he said

(09:07):
something, and then you later repostedit and said, I guess the cats
out of the bag. Go ahead, spill the dish. Um. Well,
my longtime friend and I, whowas a bartender at Lailo for many
years now bartends around town and heand I have entered into a project together

(09:28):
to open up our own little barand restaurant enterprise, and hopefully we'll have
that open bye. Well, we'llhope in August. Well, i'll just
tell people soon. Yeah, that'smy piece of advice. What are you'd
be able to soon? So Benhas become sort of um uh an autour

(09:50):
of the tiki bar culture for morethan a decade now, and I beg
your question, are you collaborating withhim on a tik bar inspired short answers,
No, The long answer is,we're taking the ideas and concepts of

(10:15):
the quote unquote tiki bars and reenvisioning it for another type of genre.
If that makes any sense. Yes, you'll tell you what we're doing.
We're looking to we're looking to celebrateand to inspire and entertain people at our

(10:35):
place by creating a world that celebratesTurn of the twentieth century circus and carnival
and con game sort of thing. So like when you would walk into a
tiki bar, you see all thedifferent chatkeys and whatnot, Polynesian influence.
Here, we're going to have Turnof the twentieth century circus membera bilion and

(11:01):
sort of the drinks will be inspiredby circus fair. The food will be
elevated circus fair um and sort ofthat that sort of thing. That's what
we're going for. Now, whereyou say elevated circus fair, are we
talking about hot dogs, pea nutsand pretzels? Uh? Well, yeah,
like pristance at the carnival, youmight have a deep fried oreo,

(11:24):
right, that's very popular. We'renot going to have that. But what
we are going to have is anoreo French toast which is battered in egg
and print and oreos and then frightout. So it's kind of a spin
on traditional stuff. And we'll doa spin on sarches on a stick and

(11:45):
turkey legs and that sort of thing. Now, those of you that have
made intention, of course, misterMungle and I worked together on a project.
There was a gastropub formally and affectionatelyknown as Outlays Worldwide Headquarters where we
leave into um, I want tosay comfort food, but it was sometimes
a bit of a raised pinky.I mean we were we were doing some

(12:07):
stuff that was popular at the time. Uh what was it, the flat
bread pizzas, but that we werewe were, yeah, we were,
but we were doing like chili chiliTuesdays and uh if if the uh if
if the uh if, the ifthe staff didn't eat at all, there

(12:28):
was sub left over for the customers. But we had fun. Yeah,
we're gonna we're gonna do the uhmy uh award pineapple chili is gonna be
on the menu there in the formof Rito fine. So now, of
late you've been you've worked on abunch of different projects since we worked together,

(12:50):
food related, and I know thatof late you were over at Dino's
Den over off West Alabama. Nowhas that? Are you sunsetting? That?
Is it because of Trill Burger's Uhnow, but I have s say
that to move into our new project, which is just down the road from
it. It'll be on Shepherd actually, just to see blocks away from Trillburger.

(13:13):
Okay, you don't want to standin the sun for forty five minutes
to get a flat burger. Youcan come down and see us then.
Yeah. Now, I don't wantto. I don't want to dump on
bun b Obviously his name just lendsitself to creating a hamburger joint. But
there has been some some pushback aboutthe quality of the food. It's obviously

(13:33):
the wait time, so that's disappointing. I guess I haven't been in that
driven past it multiple times now,but I never It's the line has always
been, which is good. Imade success is great, good for them,
But I'm not going to stand inmy burger. I don't know,
wart Burger down the street. Yeahyeah, yeah, yeah yeah. Uh
So Eddie reveal on what this placeis going to be called, the Big

(13:56):
Tent, the Big Pot to revealthe name, Yeah, Bob, Bob
and Ben, Ben and Bob Waitwait, I've got this, uh Ben
Ben and Big Bob's uh Ben andBob's big top. No, yeah,
yeah, Ben and I both wentaround and around on the day and we're

(14:18):
gonna reveal the name next week. But we have a little Caesar and everything
that a little video tees put togetherfor us. But we'll reveal that next
But we did go round and roundon the name several times, and we
were both loth to put our nameson anything. You know, it just
seemed like, I don't know.Yeah, we had this notion of Mowbray

(14:39):
and Mungle in sort of the BarnamanBailey fut but they were like, no,
we don't want to put our nameson it. We did it,
we found it a little I don'tknow, it just seemed out of sorts
for us. We're trying to dosomething else. Now. For those of
you old enough to remember, uhmy first not you would remember my first
job, but where I worked. So my first job was at Northwest Mall

(15:03):
because I grew up in Spring Branch. But there was two restaurants in town,
one in Northwest Mall and one inthe galleria that was called Ferrell's Old
fashioned parlor. Oh yeah, ohyeah, oh yeah, with with the
with the curly handlebar mustaches and theflat top straw hats and the garters hold

(15:28):
it up, the shirts and thegirls in a sort of turn of the
century saloon girl outfits. If I'mnot mistaken. Yeah, that's kind of
the vibe we're going for. Buta little but a little skewed, a
little uh or nacky, I guessyou would be the word. Yeah,
a little body body. I thinkit's close to the market. But yeah,

(15:50):
we're kind of going in that veinand hopefully people will come and we'll
have little games and stuff and therepeople can play for different drinks and food
and were you plan on having strollingenrol card readers and stuff like that and
close magic and just making a funnight out for people. Oh I like
that sort of uh funny In myhead, Magic Island meets uh the Cherry

(16:15):
popp and Daddies with some one that'sthat's the forties. So you got So
is it a burlesque vibe? Um, it's gonna have elements, but not
particularly um, but yeah, it'sgonna have elements for less elements of circus
elements. A side shoe elements ofall the old great consuns you said they

(16:37):
got you're talking about CEO and likethe sting right, yes, correct,
yes, like turn of the centuryconfidence game. Yeah con oh, oh,
you got a couple of Actually we'reactually creating were actually a quarner of
our Matt Rushmore con artist in thecorner there one of the quarters that you

(17:00):
gotta get a little kid to setup a three card body out front?
Yeah, exactly, what's that thatkid in New Orleans? He would he
can tell you where your shoes were, Tell you where your shoes are the
right here the French quarter. Hi, all right, I can tell you
where you got your shoes, right, like that one where you got New

(17:22):
Orleans right now, got him inNew Orleans. Well, congratulations, good
luck, God's speed, and ofcourse put us on the list for the
soft opening name of my sex tapeas always, and uh we'll be stay
tuned for the big reveal very soon. Thank you. Absolutely, You're You're

(17:45):
always going to be invited and thedoor will always be open to you like
that. Well, it's good totalk to you. Tell your dad,
I said, Hi, give mylove to your mom. Well do thank
you all right, buddy, theout little Nation lives here on KPRCIN.
Can you hear me all the wayback there? Your immaturity, it is
extremely disappointing. We got a partof you're not normally this interesting, you're

(18:07):
unnatural talent, the fat one ora funny looking one. We could do
a podcast and it would be amillion times better than whatever that drivel was
we were listening to. This isthe Outlawed Day Show on KPRC. Oh
lordy, LORDI, LORDI. We'retalking with the mayor, the bab brangler
at Chris mom Nelson. How areyou today, sun? Oh man,

(18:30):
I'm doing all right, bro?How about you so well? I know
it was a rough week in theworld of the Salty Anglers are coastal friends,
the people of the community of theFishes. I'm talking about the early
exit from our dear friend Chico.Yeah man, tomorrow. Yeah. Now,

(18:52):
we were friends on Facebook, butI was like Elvin and I thought
it was Chamaco. So it's Tomorrow. I've never called him that in my
life though. Yeah. Um uhdiagnosed late uh cancer valiant fights uh took
his legs right up from underneath him. Um. But until the end,

(19:18):
I mean he was surrounded by friendsand loved ones and family and uh close
to the water. And you guysrecommitted him to the water, um uh
yesterday at his celebration of life andmemorial. Yeah. Man, it was
a beautiful funeral. I was afall bearer and that one by person watched

(19:40):
the drive away. But you knowit's one thing where we're all gonna have
to steal it attack, right. You and I've talked about this a lot
lately, especially um, you know, right before bikes and bugs this year
with a passage of your father. But we have a strong sense of faith,
as did your father, and soyou and I have a certain level

(20:03):
of not ease, but I guesscomfort, uh and and knowing that when
someone's suffering uh ceases that their elevationor transmogrification of their energy to the next
level is a blessing. Yeah,we're gonna miss him here on earth,
but we will. We will definitelysee them again. And my dad,

(20:25):
I hope they're up there, andI hope he's taking well, you know,
your dad's already pulling pranks on him. Oh your first week up here.
Okay, Yeah, it's perfect becausethat's all play pranks on us.
I know, I know, Iknow. So you're up there they're both
giving each other hard time and thatthat makes me smile on my heart.
Uh, you're going down to getclose to the water to celebrate his life

(20:48):
this weekend. Yeah, I'm headedto serve side right now. We're gonna
jump on my buddies, all thefisherman well and we're gonna go. We're
gonna go spend a little time onthe water and honor Chieko, Samantha,
you know, the girl friend Smith, Nicole Strong and her sister and a
bunch of us that here at thefuneral. Yesterday. We went and sat

(21:08):
with Mike as the owner of barttwo one five yesterday and hung out with
them and drank them out of alltheir doset us. That was yeah,
and uh it was you know,it was good. So you know we're
all going to go down there todayand catch some fishing. Chico the charity
fishing tournament, they say that again. We're gonna be putting together a fishing

(21:30):
tournament Chico's name, raising money forhim to Anderson good good. Uh,
that was his life and it gaveso many and he over the years,
just he alone donated so many tripsfor the charity endeavors that you do with
Bikes and Bugs and it was sucha strong supporter of the community at large.

(21:52):
And I'll run good guy now speakingof a charitable endeavors h and Bikes
and Bugs. I got the chanceto be at lunch with you in April
Shane Wilton earlier this week for thecheck presentation for this year's Bikes and Bugs
twenty twenty three, where if I'mnot mistaken, we broke from records.

(22:15):
We did, man, And I'llbe honest with you. I thought we
were gonna fall short, just youknow, be one of our worst years
because if my father passed me beforethe main event and I just felt like
five bucks before that's got I feltlike I dropped the fall. But man,
everybody stepped up and allege sponsors andPaul Taylor, the PRIs of the
league and for me and Kim andeverybody else just stepped up. And they've

(22:40):
spent so much money in our liveboxtion and helped them out. We were
short on taking the sail or youknow rap hole donations, um, but
the money raised in the live boxingand much over the top and all they
were excellent and some other people. They raised eleven thousand dollars right right before

(23:03):
the event, like four days andthree days before the event. Everybody come
together. Amazing. Yeah. Check. Two individual checks were presented uh to
Texas Adaptable Caudics and the Epilepsy Foundationof Texas, one from the Bikes and

(23:26):
Bugs charity fundraising efforts and one separatelyfrom Paul Taylor at T three Civil Ink
and his his charity. The weekbefore he just jumped on the phone and
raised a bunch of money. Iwanted I wanted you to share the story
um of Donna. I believe hername was Donna from the Epilepsy Foundation of
Texas, a young soul who hasserved that organization for decades and in fact,

(23:52):
I believe is retiring passing the torch. And she said when when when
you gave her the checks, shelooked down and there was this moment of
emotion that had welled up in her. And what was it that she said
that they had feared they were goingto be in the negative this year,
and they were really worried because itsaid, it's so hard right now to

(24:14):
raise money because everybody's crazy in thisworld right now, and you know,
the economy is not doing great.Everybody told the type of their wallets.
She said that every foundation that she'stalked to is hurting this year. No
one could raise money. And whenthey when they whenever, both of them
up in the check their eyes. They were like what because it was the

(24:36):
most has ever given them and theywere so ecstatic and she said that it
puts them in the green so theydon't have to be in the negative this
year. And it was emotional momentproblem them. Yeah. Now the budget
shortfall felt by the Epilepsy Foundation ofTexas, you have to understand, Uh,
there is a three tiered operation there. They work on education and they

(24:57):
also work on a drug research. One of the shining things that they do
is they have created a summer campfor youth afflicted with epilepsi. You see,
if your child with diagnosed epilepsi, you can't go to regular camps.
The insurance, the counselors, they'rejust not outfitted for it. And we

(25:18):
don't begrudge them that, but thesekids need to have an active, healthy,
normal summer. And so the EpilepsyFoundation of Texas, thanks to the
charitable contributions in support for more thana decade of bikes and bugs, helmed
by, of course, Chris Nelson, is able to provide that for these
children each and every summer. It'sunbelievable and I love it. They send

(25:40):
me letters from camp my kids saying, you know, thank you so much
this year at camp we did thisand that its pictures drawn for me in
and says that the best part aboutit is it's free. Yea. They
just always get a kick out ofit. And it may have worked my
heart to be able to do it. Old Roger Randall him and Red out
there at Texas Adaptable Quatus who havebeen giving mobility challenged individuals also summertime fund

(26:07):
and the act of Lifestyle up thereon Lake Houston for more than three decades.
Those guys have been partnering up withmultiple charity endeavors. But like you
said, when he got that checkchecks plural this year, his eyes lit
up. And they're going to beable to and I guess they were.
They've had some setbacks up there onthe leg and this is going to help
complete a project that makes them ADAand OSHA compliance. Finishing out some construction

(26:34):
that was necessary for one of theinstructures out there. So the kudos,
a job well done, Hats offall around, and congratulations to you.
Without you, we couldn't do withoutyou, brother. You're helping to port
out every event, you come out, put our sponsors on the radio,
and do so much for others man, and you go, I think it's

(26:55):
all underappreciated what you actually do foreverybody. So thank you. Well.
You said, hey, yes youcan ride my motorized cruising cooler and I
said, he is their beer init? And you said, of course
there is. And I wrote itup on the stage at Harley Davidson Dealership.
Oh so thirteen fourteen, fifteen yearsago, and we've been fast and

(27:15):
furious friends ever since. Shout outto Republic Harley Davidson, who came through
big and strong again this year supportingBucks and Bugs over there. Is amazing
man. He every year he steppedup and done so much for us.
We were glad for the relationship wehave with them. They wanted to be

(27:36):
our solo dealership that you're like, look, get rid of all the other
dealerships. I want to be yourprimary dealership. It's in your backyard.
Let's do it. I'm glad Idid because they do so much for us.
Yeah, you know, and wewe have partnered up with them for
their Bike Night this year, makingit our official at Bike Night the third
Thursday of every month, and they'regiving away at twenty twenty three Street Mob

(28:00):
and you get to come out.You get to sign up every month,
so you've got like five more months. We're giving it away in October.
But during the course of these events, I've had a chance to sit down
with Phil Cornell from out there, and you know, they are the number
one dealership just not in the stateof Texas, but across the nation.
They do so much, they doso much in the community. But Phil
himself, he's a rocker and he'slike best friends with Joe Bonamasso, and

(28:25):
so there's all these stories that youwould never think. And so now I
understand every time when I go bythe dealership, well there's all these peoples,
all but a rocker sitting in hisoffice. Because he sits there,
he shares all these stories with them, and it's always a good time,
just like it is hanging out withyou, mister Nelson. I knew you
have a well earned vacation coming upsoon, so till the end, we'll

(28:45):
keep you here in our hearts andat the table. I appreciate it.
Brother, we love you, Thankyou for everything. Then at low Dave,
he's your friend. On KPRC ninefifty Hey Suyl, Buddy Alla Day
and the nine one one Garage doorService dot com studios. You just heard

(29:07):
us talking about Republic Harley Davidson andtheir monthly bike nights. Now through October,
it will be your chance to comeout for food, music giveaways.
Every every month, we're giving awaya bunch of cool limited edition Harley Davidson
stuff. Somebody's excited about the coinset. I'm excited about the phonograph.

(29:30):
Another guy's excited about the fire pit. They had a camping cooler. Every
month, it's a bunch of differentstuff. We give out a door prize
like every forty five minutes starting atsix, running all the way up till
nine o'clock. There's math on thatright. But more importantly, while you're
there, you get to sign upfor the twenty twenty three Street Bob that

(29:52):
we are giving away in October. And you don't have to be present to
win every do you No, I'mnot sure, but you'll you'll have to
come out this month and find outhow there it is SMO smo. So
speaking of things. Uh, MikeErskin from Erskine Entertainments, we have teamed

(30:17):
up with them coming off their twentyfifth anniversary celebration. Uh, and I've
just had so much fun over thepast couple of years. Another date coming
up Saturday, July twenty second. It's going to be at that cool little
place called the Cowboys Surfer. It'sno over next to a Memorial City mall.
Uh. It is kind of ahidden spot owned by the world famous

(30:38):
or infamous Jim Jard, whom willprobably be out at the Bonneville Salt Flats
going for another land speed record soon. Why is he called the Cowboys Surfer.
Well, you'll have to swing byand find out. But they are
certainly patrons of the Texas music scene. I know Zooba dvor chalk Uh is

(31:00):
that right? Luba Luba devor checkis always there on Monday nights, um
um. Ryan Bingham from Yellowstone hI think he used to sleep in his
fan in the parking lot. Sothis this guy's been a he's a a
big supporter of music and he's createdthis beautiful venue. Sonically, it's very
small it's very intimate. Uh,it's someone say tiny. So I'm saying

(31:25):
this because we've got a Songwriters SummerRound with a J. Vallejo, with
Sheila Marshall and with Andrea Murrie comingup in a couple of Saturdays, Saturday,
July twenty second. Tickets will sellout for this show and there is
limited space. And though this isnot a song swap, this is a

(31:47):
song writers in the Round. Uh. And I'll be what is it?
I'm not I'm not hosting. I'mi am hosting it, but what is
it? Where you? Uh likeat the the I can't remember anyway,
I'm not gonna stand up there onstage and talking between each song. But
it's fun and I'm fans of allthree of those artists and they're all Texas
treasures in their own right now. That being said, the Big Wild West

(32:09):
Show is coming up at the ContinentalClub on August the fourth. That is
a Friday night that John Evans Bandreturns to Texas. He is relocated to
Nashville or right outside Nashville. He'scoming in town. He's got like three
dates in Texas, austin the ContinentalClub and I remember the other one,

(32:30):
but you know, who is hisopening band on all three of his Texas
dates. Cloud Chief Cloud Chief isa virtually unheard of unknown band from tom
Ball, Texas that traditionally plays odddates at the world's smallest honky Tunk where

(32:50):
they're Trouble has been brewing out thereanyway. We're certainly excited about that show
and might have another show coming uplater in the month in August. We're
working on a location on that.I note to some things have been said.
We don't have a location yet.We are working on a location.
I've been out vigorous lawyer researching anduh finding out what's going on. All

(33:12):
right, So coming up, we'vegot a brand new edition of Musicology one
on one with very well traveled ProfessorAl. I kind of love that guy
