(00:00):
Oh, welcome to another excited editionof the Outlaw Day, showing an Outlaw
Saturday Night. But yeah, thatday of the rock Gun is to broadcasting
from the nine one one Garage Doorserversdot Com Studios, home of Outlaw Day
Productions, Biker Rally Television, theOutlaw Dave Show in the Version Islands,
(00:27):
and um the people that helped coordinatethe Lonestar Rally. I'm not saying that
we created it. I'm not sayingthat we pull it off. I'm just
saying that we're there everything by theirside. Every no you you I've joined
in, but I'm saying you've beenthere since a long haul, earned that
ring last year at that load StarRally. I guys remembered that Saturday once
(00:52):
everything was over and it's just likewhoosh, like everything like everything just hate
me. And I was like, man, I was really putting stuff aside
and Jessla, I'll deal with itlater. I'll deal with it later in
my head. Yeah, mentally, and then it just like came. It
was a lot. Yeah, it'sa lot, and don't talk to me
for a week and with uh soif you if you're and we don't you
(01:17):
know, obviously We talked about thisthe other day when we did the show.
Um uh, if we lean moreheavily on Glitztalls, the modeling agency
to coordinate with the Miss Lindstarelli search, and we'll last year was our first
year working with them, so webrought him up to speed. And you've
made a great job. You've trainedthem and everything that how you have envisioned
(01:38):
this over the years, So wecould focus now this year on expanding our
video presence and the Outlaw day ofRanch ride the parade on the island because
we're getting didn't you say, We'regetting a double decker bus to put people
in the bus, and then we'vegot the Barbie mobile with the confetti cannons.
(02:04):
We're not gonna make it mandatory forthe bikini models to come to the
parade, absolutely, but we madeit mandatory, which made it our responsibility
for shuttle them back and forth andtrying to get Yeah, I know easier
if you're on your motorcycle when you'rejoining us over for the parade route.
I mean we're trying to add stuffand expand you know, I mean worst
(02:27):
throw with some ladies on the motorcycles. Yeah, yeah, yeah, But
I'm just saying, so h thepeople that meet us in the parking lot
to do the parade around the island, they're all on their motorcycles, so
it's easy for them to get fromwherever they are to where we are.
When you've got you know, eighteenbikini models, photographers, boyfriends, moms,
they've got blow dryers and extra gogo boots. No, they need
(02:52):
to come ready. You gotta comeready or stay the night before, right
right. So, So, anyway, we're talking about the Low Star Rally,
the Search for Miss Love Star Rally, and all the things that we're
going to be doing this year atthe Losa Rally. We're excited about that.
That's where you earned your ring lastyear, serving the community, not
just the greater good of the executionof the event, the finals, the
(03:15):
broadcast, but it was instrumental inre launching the Stevens Range tribe. So
important, and that's the ring thatyou were bestowed upon. Is about servitude,
is about serving the community, theanimals, the children, the widows,
the less fortunate of the those thatcan't take care of themselves. And
(03:36):
so that's that's our credo that bondsus all together. So to that end.
We have not officially announced this. They were They might have announced it
last lot. I don't know ifthey were waiting for permission and approval.
But the guys down at Voodoo Hut, while not participating in the Search for
Miss Owned Star rally this year, are going to participate in a fundraising endeavor
(03:59):
for the stevens Port Ranch. Andthey're putting together They've got uh, they
got a like a DJ that specializesin eighties rock music. I'm talking about
Carlos Crazy Legs cantu Uh. He'sone of the tailgate the DJs from the
Texans games and stuff and also whereit works with the Deacons of Deadwood charity
ball. He's gonna be out there. We're trying to get like Misty Marlowe
(04:21):
and Jennifer Rayna and Lock Sebenhausen. We're gonna do like a Kalol reunion,
I guess of sorts in theme. There'll be like a kalo Well Reunion themed
events. Fundraiser for the stevens PutRanch for children animals. Not gonna be
We're not. We're not. We'renot. We're not getting all the old
DJ's out of mothballs and rolling themdown there. Like you know a wheel
(04:43):
barrel, or and their their wheelchairsor why are you why are you're not
looking at me? What's happening?Am I castide dispersions on the old guard
from Kalo? I'm just I'm likeI was the baby like I was,
you know, a fresh out ofhigh school with my geed, and I
showed up and I worked in thelast rais so those and I'm not I'm
not saying all those people are oldall they're all they I'm just saying they
(05:06):
don't They don't roll out for bigparty. Oh we're gonna do a big
party and reasonablenny for the ranch.Oh okay, well, uh said some
money. They don't come and standaround and and't have fun. Last time
we saw we saw Dana Steel inthe red carpet, Remember at the h
Time Awards when we first met DanaSteel was there. Yeah, That's where
I first met you. She's themost well preserved and most ambulatory of all
(05:31):
the of all the people that arethat are still there alive or whatever,
most of them passed away. Imean, I'm not my condolence, yes,
my condolence is also it was horrible. Anyway, I'm saying we're doing
a fund ranging for the Stevens ImportantRance. It's gonna be August twenty six.
Uh. They're waiting for permission fromthe ranch and from the Kala Well
(05:51):
people, and they got it.They got it this week, so it's
all great. It's gonna be abig party voodoo hut. It's gonna be
during the day because a lot ofthose people all uh no, so you
can get Yeah, it's gonna befun. It's gonna be fun. It's
gonna be a bust. Uh.And I hope that you'll you'll, you'll,
you'll come out and help me shakesticks at people or whatever. Yeah.
(06:15):
Oh look that's how they used to. There's a sticker, get a
sticker, so we'll have fun.Uh. Speaking of fun, and is
that that's uh, that's like afterthe Misslow Show. Really contests has already
started. Um yeah, I thinkI think that starts either the twenty fourth
of the thirty first, you know, you should follow us on Facebook as
(06:38):

You should do us a favor andat least go to our one singular
social media outlet. I know wehave all the accounts, but we really
only utilize effectively currently Facebook Outlaw DaveShow. Is it the I think it's
the Outlaw Dave Show? Or show? Does it have the on Facebook?
(07:03):
Yeah? Okay, ouload Dave Show. I think the podcast is the Outloud
day show. We should probably likecentralize and unify everything. Are you with
me? It's the because we arethe one and only, right not that
guy who does scuba lessons. TheOutlaw Dave show up there has scuba pictures.
Don't forget the Outlawed Days show onthe Saturday night is brought to you
(07:25):
by nine one one Garage Door Servicedot Com for all your garage door garage
doore opener, get gate opener needsseven one three eight one six seven one
three eight one sixty twenty easier toremember nine one one Garage Door Service dot
Com. Come it out. We'regonna talk about one of the headlining bands
for the Mosquito Festival, which isjust a couple of weeks away. No,
(07:49):
it's it's not like they actually they'renot. They don't have a bunch
of Mosquitos all. It's not likethat, not like an Outlaw Saturday.
No, he dogy your Buddy outLaw Day the Rock, got that Taylor
Motherland. We're at the Cowboys Surfer. We've got the songwriter gathering with AJ
(08:11):
and Sheila Marshall. And AJ issupposed to be here for an interview,
but he's not here. So dialm in, go ahead, and so
here we go. AJ. Areyou are you out in the van?
What's happening? Man, I'm insidehere at the Cowboys Surfer. It's time
to go, go go, gogo. Yeah, dude, I'm catching
(08:33):
the last bit the last episode ofThe Bear on my phone. Here.
Wait, No, so I haven'tI started that when it first came out,
and then I lost interest after likethe third episode. Now I'm I've
started the Justified City Primeval, whichof course is and now I'm having to
bid you watch the entire Justified thingall over again. Yes, that's right,
(08:54):
all right. Now. It's weirdhow we get to how we get
caught up in these things? Ithink, uh, the Breaking Bad Show
got to addicted to binge watching.Yes, yes, I was talking with
the doctor from the Wellness Institute yesterday. He goes, so do you do
mindful wellness things? And I'm like, yeah, man, I watched like
a TV you know, and hegoes, no, No, I mean
(09:16):
like yoga or meditation. I go, no, I watched TV. It's
my meditation, it's's my mindless isso like, how much would you say
you watch? So now I'm feelingto judge and I'm like, I like
one and a half episodes. Yeah, I gotta say nine hours. I
watched nine hours of television four daysa week. Uh So tonight, AJ
(09:39):
here at the Cowboys Surfer you andSheila Marshall sharing the stage, and it's
it's interesting because you know, I'mconstantly learning things from the industry aspect perspective
as opposed to is the mic onwill they the curtain? But I mean
in front of the curtain. Soyou don't call this a song swap because
(10:01):
apparently song swaps suck. So yeah, So what is it where you have
two different musicians Sheila Marshall who's workedwith everybody from Ray Whiley Hubbard to the
guy from Matchbox twenty, and thenyou've got a J. Vallejo who storied
band Vallejo, Texas radio music duoof the Year, Love a Chaos,
(10:24):
and then recently you just dropped yourBrody Laying album so so what do you
call it when these two powerhouse musiciansongwriters come and sit together on the stage.
What do you call that? Supernova? Supernova songwriting sessions? But no,
man, I'm looking forward to becauseman, Sheila and I go way
(10:45):
back, way way back when Istarted producing, and I don't even remember
how many years that is. Andwe want day or solves in and then
that. But like she started whenshe started out and I was starting out
producing, she did come to mystudio and we worked on a couple of
songs and I can't we both can'tremember if it was a good or not,
but we had a great time knowingeach other. And I've just watched
her do the career. I'm myfriends, I grew up, you know,
(11:09):
my brothers grew up with a matchbox guys, and we're all doing
the X tours, you know, back in the day. And yeah,
so just been watching her over theyears wherever she's doing stuff. Well,
what do you think after I thinkit was called Diamonds and Russ what she
did with the MAXX twenties, shetoured with those guys, She worked with
that guitarist and then her next movewas to collaborate with Ray Wiley Hubbard,
(11:33):
which yeah, so Ray Wiley Hubbardis a national Texas treasure, don't get
me wrong, But that seems likesuch an odd zigzag on one's journey.
But I'm not a songwriter and I'mnot a musician, so I ask you
what is that? I think itshows her versatility. I mean, that's
what I would like to think.I mean, and I think that's where
(11:54):
she's trying to go with. Imean, I think her voice is her
instrument, that's her tool. Shedoes it really well, she sells it
well, and I think it's kindof that record she did with Ray is
amazing. The record you did withthe Matchbox dude is cool. It's cool.
It's been cool seeing her. What'sshe's doing right now. I feel
like that's where she's I mean, the last two or three shows I've seen,
she's just killing it. Man.So like I'm really stoked to be
(12:16):
sharing the stage with her, andI feel like we're gonna challenge accepted.
I think we're gonna try to youknow, we're gonna try to push.
It's gonna be you know, shebetter come with it because I'm coming too.
So we're gonna we're gonna have agood time and all friendly fun um.
So yeah, man, I'm stokedto do that, and I'll be
doing I'm sure she'll be doing alot of stuff of her stuff through the
years. I don't know how farback she'll go, but I'm gonna go
(12:37):
all the way back to early Balajostuff and kind of not so much an
anthology, but I'll try to getI'll try to cover as many years as
I can, and I think that'sgonna make for a real fun show,
you know, to be able togo all the way from balleto to solo
stuff, to Love and Chaos toBroly Lane. Maybe some prints in there
when I went through my princes day, like yeah, you know, I
(13:00):
mean, you never know what's gonnahappen watching you guys. It was you
and Kendall at the Love and Chaosat the twenty fifth anniversary of Erskine Entertainment
the year a year and a halfago. I remember that y'all were earlier
in the afternoon and there was avery um it was a different vibe to
it because you guys talked in betweensome of the songs, and I thought
(13:20):
that was cool. And I've seenthat with a couple other bands that over
the years. You know, theyshow up, they're the headliners. They
rip and they go and they gohard m but they don't sit there and
talk to the crowd. And soI'm looking forward to that tonight. I
think it's gonna be a great performance. I'm obviously a fan of Sheila's,
(13:41):
but then I've I've been a fanof yours and watched you just over We're
not gonna date ourselves so many years, and so to see see you up
on this stage and and it justI was excited when I got to see
the video of you and Kelly Greena couple of years ago. So uh,
I'm always excited to see what you'vegot going on and what's happening next.
(14:01):
And so uh that's tonight. We'reat the Cowboys Surfer, a cool
little haunt just outside in between MemorialCity ball and City Center. It's a
it's just on a little site street, sort of tucked off to the corner.
You google it, We've got alink. Uh, They've got they've
got some cool food that they'll they'llthey'll bring out from the back and it
(14:24):
is great, an intimate room withincredible acoustics. The guy who owns it,
Jim Jarb is a patron in hisown right of Texas music, and
he's uh, he's just created thislittle bitty place. And I think like
Luba de Voorg Choku, the EasternEuropean by way of New Jersey guy who's
(14:46):
affiliate with the Cotton Nettle Club thesedays. He has a standing like a
Monday night that he does there. So this is kind of a cool,
eclectic place. I know you've performedon that stage several times as well as
she Marshall. So tonight, SheilaMarshall A J. Vallejo, it is
a super nova tonight, super novasongwriting session. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
(15:11):
get audience. Yeah, I'm I'mstoked, man, right, I'm
ready to rock. I'm gonna finishthis last episode of the Bear and I'll
be right in all right to wetyour wet your whistle. Uh. Here's
my favorite song from Brody Lane onan Outlaw Saturday night, getting about having
up this tide off, feeling pissedevery day you got I'm broke down,
(15:33):
beating on the home, not gettingyounger, but you keep saying maybe it's
all right, I'm doing wow byyour broke smile that you've been gone gone
Gonson. That's all right, it'smy time to fly. I'm moving on.
(15:54):
Yeah. Yeah, you got alittle communication back down dragging her school
to ground. Don't you know youwon't even see you coming? Want to
get your running out of the doorby That's all right, it's my time.
(16:17):
I'm going on. Yell, I'mgoing on. Yeah, but this
(16:48):
I've had enough for miss so muchdays I can't get back, so I'm
just going to get the next train. Now, give him a lot back
on the tracks. Baby, that'sall right, I'm knowing. Wow,
I gonna go smile at you thingGod. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
(17:26):
I'm going yeah. Song right issuper nova tonight A J Vlaho, Sheila
(17:59):
Marshall, our boys surfer. Theydon't take the stage at eight o'clock.
Alright, alright, alright, alright, alright, alright, buddy outlaw.
Dave Taylor is making us some more. Kenna pays whatever it's thought a scouter
reboard. Anyway, we're in thenine one one run story Surfers dot Com
Studios reaching out to our good friendRon would tell you ride who Now,
(18:23):
I know we're gonna have to listento your song, You're obligatory song because
everyone loves to tell you, right, who wrote the song? Drink Drink,
Drink drink drake drunk? Who wrotedrink drink drunk? Uh? Jeff
and Ron. Yes, I'm tryingto figure it so. It espouses a
(18:47):
particular esthetic that, while I couldattribute it to every member of the band,
I felt like there's somebody going,Hey, we need an anthem,
we need a credo or a model. Great, great, rook, none,
let's do it, write it,britt it, let's go well.
It started off with a bottle upwhiskey and then kind of went all right,
(19:10):
so real quick. Johnny A.Blackwell, the newest addition to the
band, still doing great, Stillloving the time with him. Absolutely,
He's incredible. Love that guy.I want credit for that. Remember I
was in want to go Hey,I saw this guy. He really say
I didn't know about that. I'mcalling Dave. Uh. So, you
(19:32):
guys were at the pub last weekWildcatter. The week before was Sunday It's
head I know that, and youdidn't. You haven't brought this up.
I had to find this out ofmy own. You're one of the headliners
if this year's Mosquito Festival. Yeah, next Thursday night, seven thirty to
nine thirty, we'll playing a twohour straight set. Wait two hours,
(19:55):
two hours straight because you're the headliner. Well, you know, DA don't
really call anybody headliners down there. They're like, Hey, you're gonna play
two hours and then Blue Water Highway'sgonna play after y'all for an hour and
a half. I'm like, whyare we playing two hours? Because you're
good? Yeah, they wanted usto really drive it home, so to
speak, kill all the mosquitoes.Well, and so, I mean I
(20:18):
was talking with the losar Rally people. They loved you so much. I
know that you played one day andthen they're like, we have to have
them play again the next day.And so you're just winning over people everywhere.
You won the Battle of the Band, you got to open up for
Cody Canada, you performed with JakeWorthington, You've got your new album that
you're going to be releasing soon. And so to say that the Great Texas
(20:41):
Mosquito Festival has you on there, and so it's Josh Abbott, who else
is? Who else is performing there? Um, you know, it's hard
to keep up because we're doing alot lately. You got Josh Abbot,
you got Bluewater Highway. That thatthing night is us as well. There
I want to say, bree bagand bag of donuts, which I haven't
(21:03):
seen these bag of donuts, butpeople talk about them like they were the
next incarnation of the Velcro Pygmies, except with clown makeup and apparently confectioner treats.
Yeah, it's exactly. It's likea mix of kiss and the Velcrow
Pigmy. All right, so here'swhat's laying in front of you, ladies
(21:26):
and gentlemen. Make sure you gosee till your ride as soon as you
can. Uh. If not, don't wait till the Low Star rally.
Go see it at the Bisquita Festivalcoming up next weekend. Follow them on
Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, andhere is their opus and them drink drank

(21:47):
was bad. I'm sorry. I'msorry, I'm sorry. That was bad.
I like it. It's Friday night. He starts trying here, gonna
turn it up. I don't care, hit it out to get it on
(22:12):

much do any office building as longas it's not ten story high rise.
We can do pretty much everything inthere outside anyway, All right, what's
the west case scenario interior designers, decorators or just a motivated housewife. What's
the worst case scenario of somebody todeal with us? A client? Interior
decorators? You know, why canthere spending somebody else's money. That's right,
(27:53):
you reach out to a carnival painting, You ask your questions and then
you dispatch someone to their house. They go all right, and you're bringing

(29:03):
Hey, then Everyboddy out la Davein the nine one one garage door Service
dot Com studios, we are talkingwith doctor James Rinkle, Doctor Jim to
his friends from the Wrinkle Institute forWellness. Thanks for me. You're you're
no stranger to this roundtable conversation.A group of reprobates, wise sages,
(29:26):
and well intended people, all heldtogether by a common credo. Yesterday we
began our hero's journey to health. And what the Wrinkle Institute of Wellness does
is basically help people improve their overallquality of life. And this is from
catastrophic health situations to just regular maintenance. Am I correct? You are correct,
(29:51):
Dave. We do all things wellness. When we talk about wellness,
let's let's talk about exactly what thatmeans. You and I have talked about
quality of law, but the realityis most people, for whatever reason,
don't have an orchestrated or choreographed healthand wellness plan. No they don't.
I mean, if the situation isa very truncated piece of material that you
(30:15):
present to your position and you're doneand out the door within fifteen minutes during
your evolution, yesterday we spent almosttwo hours together. So that is a
significant time scene for you, andit's a significant contribution of the position to
each patient, and it builds awonderful relationship. If you follow us on
(30:37):
Facebook, you're seeing this along theway. I go out to the recal
institutes, I go and I checkin. The staff there brings me in.
I fill out a standard questionnaire,my vitals are taken, blood pressure,
pulse, weight, and then myconsultation with the doctor. We go
through at length a litany of healthrelated questions, not just about biographical,
(31:00):
historical, but also just an overallquestion answer a period of everything basically to
get I'm assuming you a complete pictureof what my history is, where I
want to go, and what mycurrent situation is. Yeah, and all
the past indiscretions are big and knowyou had mentioned that on Facebook, but
(31:23):
you know, when we burn thecommodity of time. We have to refresh
that going backwards. So that's abig component of your wellness, is your
what you've kind of tore up alongthe way sliding into third so to speak,
and we go backwards trying to makesure that every time you get up
the bat and you hit that homerun. Most people don't invest until they're
(31:45):
in their forties or fifties in theirhealth, right, because you can do
those things in your twenties and thirtiesand it's not a significant issue. But
once the chronometer starts to catch upwith you, the aches and the pains
kick in, or you know, the third or seventh shot of whiskey takes
its role a different, different impacton you. Accordingly, So having that
(32:08):
knowledge of knowing how we reverse thattime clock is what we focus on here.
Well, why is it that wedon't Why is it that our refractatory
period becomes longer and greater? Well, I mean, the answer becomes the
you know, the adge that yourgrandmother gave you as youth is wasted on
the young. The abilities of yourbody to detoxify, your energy levels,
(32:30):
your levels of metabolism all start todecrease in your thirties. You have some
hormone degradations starting they are finding probablyin the late twenties, and then all
of those cashed in commodities of littlesleep or diet, smoking, drinking,
drugging. All those sleeps increase metabolismissues that as you cash those chips in
(32:58):
at the end you need to payto get them back. So we're talking
with doctor James Wrinkle of the RinkleInstitute of Wellness. One of the things
that I observed when I was therethe other day, I know that one
of your staff recently had suffered acataclysmic medical event and his recovery and just
under three months has been incredible.Yeah, we have a gentleman that is
(33:22):
the heart and soul and the righthand guy of the institute. His name
is JJ. The day before mybirthday, JJ suffered an enormous middle cerebral
artery stroke. For listeners, that'sone of the major ones that prevent you
from walking and talking and all thoseother things. JJ has been our guinea
(33:46):
pig here at the institute. Hehad a good care to understand and we
started him with a very intensive regimentof trying to auction ate his tissue.
We did multiple ivs. He getsto go into the hyper chamber essentially daily
(34:07):
for for ninety minutes, and we'vehad thank God, and he had all
of our listeners there that believe inthose pathways. He has gotten the receipt
of modern technology and God intervention. So he has done absolutely tremendous. He
continues to make strides and improvements thatwe have that astound us. His ability
(34:30):
to ambulate, walk, talk, drive. If you've ever met him,
you would think that nothing ever haschanged, but I have video that would
prove otherwise. So we're blessed thatwe have the modalities to give people of
the public these these advantages, andwe're happy to give give precedence to people
(34:52):
that have these catastrophic preferences or catastrophicfailures for better terms. And what was
so pronounced is they did show methe video of the immediacy after this stroke,
this hembridge in his brain where hehad that paralysis, and you would
never know from talking to him orwatching him today that just three months ago
(35:15):
that he was It's an amazing, almost miraculous documentation of what these procedures that
you're working on. And as wego through my experience in my journey.
I think anecdotally, there's some otherthings that you and I have discussed,
not necessarily off air, but we'vethings. We've talked about advances in medicine,
(35:36):
and I have friends that are dealingwith things like MS and cancer,
and so I have a litany ofquestions that I've bored down with with doctor
Jim and this is fascinating, andthere is so much advances being done that
aren't necessarily part of the mainstream medicinehere, at least in the United States.
(35:57):
That makes us give pause. Butthis isn't a political show. This
is a quality of life show, and that's what we're trying to accomplish with
doctor James Wrinkle of the Wrinkle Instituteof Wellness. And if you follow us
on Facebook, you can follow usalong. Obviously, Heppo, we're not
going to share too much of thestuff, but you'll be able to see
my journey as well as everything elsethat they've got to offer out there,
(36:20):
including and I know you've talked tosome people about this. You're working with
people on weight loss, because aswe get older, the more weight we're
dragging around, the more it dragsus down. Not just with the tiredness,
but also the effects on our heartand on our lungs and our overall
systems. And there's some ways thatyou can help people pretty not instantaneously,
(36:43):
but work on rapid weight loss. It's part of the entire package, right.
A lot of it is diet andinflammation and what we expose ourselves too,
and the metabolism. Going back towhat you were saying, why does
it happen in our twenties and thirties. Our metabolism starts to slow enough in
that age range where those excessive caloriesstart to take impact. The dietarian discretions
(37:10):
and the lack of sleep and inflammationwill all contribute to excessive weight gain.
I mean, I don't. I'vegone through my own evolution of this.
I'm part of the weight loss programhere. I do everything that I recommend
to my patients. I have atleast contributed or tried it myself. So
(37:32):
I'm in my own fifty five poundweight loss journey at this point, starting
roughly in a forty waist pants andnow I'm down to about a thirty three
inch waist in about six and ahalf months. So we practice what we
preached, that's for sure. Andwe have a program that incorporates a lot
(37:58):
of different modalities in our weight loss. It's not just a simple pill or
a simple shot, and we highlymotivate our patients. We have them check
in weekly calls and then monthly weighins, and then we give them information
to help them work on their digestivehealth and their gut health and contribute to
their overall wellbeing. It's not justa very simple formula, but a very
(38:22):
complex protocol. Start your own Hero'sJourney to health and wellness from the Recal
Institute of Wellness. Doctor Jim.Always good to conversate with you, and
next week we'll talk more about someof the misconceptions and preconceived notions that I
had that were completely off the booksare it is our hero's journey to health
(38:45):
well Dave, thanks for having meand as always we're always here for questions.
So if anybody's gotten anything that theywant to discuss, they're happy to
hit us up at the phone numbersthree four six two nine eight five four
four two Happy to take you onyour hero's journey. It is an Outlaw
Saturday nine. Welcome to another excitinghour at the Outlaw Day showing an Outlaw
(39:08):
Saturday, Nicebody Out lun Day ofthe Rock, Goddess Dayler Motherland. Hello,
Hello, Hello, you'd be havingmore fun if you were here with
us at the Outlaw Day Worldwide headquarters. You read you Now, we got
a three sixty camera. We're gonnaset it up. My wife swept by
(39:30):
the studio slash office complex a coupleof weeks ago. She goes, um,
let's a tripod. Owt go whatShe was? What you have a
camera tripod? It's out in themiddle of the living room. We don't
call the living room, it's theoffice studio area. Please. She said,
(39:51):
why why is the what are youfilming? I go, what do
you mean? She was, whatwere you filming? I go nothing?
And then she get all weird becauseI was weird, and so it became
suspicious. I was just setting itup to see I want to start doing
some stream of consciousness late night, you know, midnight already. No,
(40:14):
I hadn't. I was just lookingat lighting and fraving. There was nothing
to show. So no, soshe's still suspicious. Yeah, it's absolutely
suspicious. Oh that's terrible. Yeah, you know, I was thinking about
just putting the nest camera in hereso she could see me. No,
you didn't need to be seen thatway, she could be comforted. Oh
(40:34):
look he's he's is he is helaying on the sofa again. Yeah,
that's what I say. Just comein, don't don't. Don't sneak up
on the back door though. That'show you get shot. You gotta come
to the front door. I don'tknow, I don't know. Um.
So it is so so, soso exciting that summer is halfway over,
(40:58):
I'm saying. I'm saying because we'reat the the midway point, right midway
to labor day. Yeah, I'mlike, I'm kind of bummed because it's
like less time with my son again, you know. Oh yeah with my
new job, my stuff is moreof the evenings. Yeah, so there
goes every time like my time withhim. Totally bummed it. I'll have
less time with my kids. I'mkidding, no, I uh, And
we've talked about that ever since thepandemic. I'm like, I really I
(41:20):
cherish those moments I like hanging outwith my kids because eventually they won't,
right, they won't want to hangout with That's what happens. They give
teenagers and they don't want to hangany Yeah, soak it all up,
soak it all up, all right. So we were talking about some of
the things coming up the Erskine concerts. Um tonight it is AJ Vallejo,
(41:42):
Sheila Marshall and Andrea Martin, threestrong Texas country rock, of folk,
blue grass. I mean they couple, you know. Sheila Marshall worked with
everybody from Ray Wiley Hubbard to theguy from Matchbox twenty and AJ Valajo course
band Duo of the Year from theTexas Radio and Country Music Awards of Love
(42:05):
and Chaos. But Ballejo a Texasinstitution for thirty something years and he's out
there with the brand new album outfrom Brody Lane. So and then Andrea
Martin and I don't know if youremember Andrea Martin, she opened up for
Brody Lane. I think the firsttime we saw them a couple of years
ago, right after the pandemic, where would have been I think it would
(42:27):
have been the pub fountains. Butso tonight all three of them are going
to share the stage, share stories. They so I think in the musicians
circles they call it a song swap. But that's we did that. We
did that we did that very poorlythat time. During the Battle of the
Bands, we had the four Countryguys and they all sat up there with
the guitars and they told stories andthey played well I'm talking on the type.
It was horrible. I remember Justicefor the White. He said we
(42:51):
should never do that again. She'snever because all of them suck, except
well it kind of sort of.Anyway, they were all great, only
one of them was bad. Theuh, the show tonight looks to be
exciting, and we've seen the collaborationbetween Kelly Green from Madame Radar and AJ
along with Rody Lane that spawned atleast a single that made it on the
(43:14):
Texas chart. So that's happening tonight. You got John Evans is coming
up. That's gonna be what theycall it, a barn burner coming up
on August fourth over at the ContinentalClub. And I know that was a
pony tone. I was like,Oh, that's the worst thing you need
right now. Someone left makeup inmy car. No, they didn't out
(43:34):
the window. Yes, the Idon't know what what person. So we
got a Brody Lane show cover itup. We've got the John to Evans
show coming up, and we areworking, um, because we talked about
the Mosquito Festival earlier, all right, and our good friends didn't till you're
(43:55):
right, are gonna be it there. So that's fun. But uh,
we have some more exciting news fromthe music world that we're going to be
showing show sharing with you pretty soonbefore you know it. I know that
you were at the new photo shootfor Lucid Illusions, Yes, and what
was what was that for? Justband photos for them? I just went
(44:20):
there. Luckily I showed up becausethey were like nervous, I guess,
like being behind the camera, andI showed them like I got tequila.
Each have a shine and like youcould tell. You could tell like as
they drink their beer, like asthey like just me being around and talking
to them, because like I'm someonethey know. You know, like very
well by now, and you've workedwith photographers before, but I work with
you comfortable, right, Yeah,It's what I do already. So it
(44:44):
worked out. Went in helped posethem and just let them all get loose,
like you know, just relax andbe themselves, get out of their
shells like they usually are, relaxLike I walked in there just doing like
the typical band guy poses where you'rejust like, you know, like the
typical band pose where it's like multiplepeople, you know, like a yunker
before all the guys are all like, oh, I'm cool and seven I
(45:05):
was like, no, be yourselves, be weird. Yes, so they
got weird. It's some of thosepictures that we took at the kickoff at
El Big Bad from the Bob Festivalwhere it was the turnaways and lucid illusions.
Some of those pictures near the endof the night of you and me
and Lucius, those were great pictures. Have you seen those? Oh yeah,
I've got a subwhere yeah, wewere having fun. It was a
(45:30):
good night. It had been rainingand it had stopped raining, and uh,
everybody's in a good mood and theweather it had broken. It was
gonna be a great, beautiful weekend. So it was all that that that
sort of up with humanity. We'rejust gonna I think skies looking bright,
no no from from no sleep andor barely any sleep for the whole weekend.
(45:50):
And also just finally like okay,I need a d stress, let
me start drinking. I was Ibecame Hurricane Taylor somewhere and there wait on
the Friday night. That was thekickoff. It wasn't like over earlier talk
about the lost rally like the weekthe week it was over. I was
like, oh, so Causin youjust said Bike said the dam the first
(46:12):
day. Well, that's what usuallyhappens at the Lodestar rally. The first
day. We're so excited to getdown there, and we get down there
Wednesday, maybe early Thursday morning, and then we have to limp through Friday
and we don't get our second wayback till Saturday. And thank god because
Saturday is a strong day. ButI digress. We got more stuff to
share with you, more stuff totalk about with you, and uh,
(46:35):
I would be remiss if I didn'tpoint out that we Our studio sponsor is
nine one one Garage Doorservice dot Comfor all your garage door garage door opener
gate gate opener needs seven with threeeight one six seven one three eight one

an outlaw Saturday nine what happened?I thought, being a mosquito, right,
(47:07):
don't ye that you did your oldbuddy out lawn day with my old
buddy slad Ham checking to see ifhe's speaking Canadian. Now you've been up
in the Great White North there, bod just having some Alexander keithon ride my
motion. You know, it's fantastic, Dave. This place is blissful of
(47:30):
sitting in Toronto. The people arepolite, the birds are chirping. We're
watching the wrong border. These people. We should be invading them. Exact
what should be happening. One ofthe things from you know, A Y
two k uh in our bugout bagwas oh, we'll just head well,
we'll follow the Mississippi, we'll headnorth, we'll cross into what is up
(47:52):
there? Is that what's in themiddle of my Minnesota's that Saskatchewan or so
I think that if I got itcorrect, and I've been coming up there
for a long time, I knowI know what's on the on the west
side, right, we know Vancouverand all that's over there. And on
the east who knows. But theyou have you have Ontario where I'm at,
and then you got Calgary, whichis basically North Texas or Alberta up
(48:15):
there somewhere, and then Saskatchew one. As far as I know, it's
just all prairie but I think it'sit's basically an extension of those those states
up there. They're so boy theyhave there's a phone, a little phone
where you pick it up and hey, well i'm crossing the border a you
just you check into them and theyyeah, well okay, well check in
(48:37):
when you get to the and youjust cross the border freely. That it's
not anymore and everything can changed,But back then that was Canada was just
like sure, yeah, your checkhead when you get here. They were.
But also the Internet wasn't really aspresent as it is now, so
a lot of that was just ohyeah, no, go up there,
they'll take care of you there. You had no way to check it,
(48:57):
you know, unless you're walking aroundwith us much of a cyclopedias. You
just got to take people when youget there. Yeah. Man. Of
course, after nine eleven, Iwas there for a wedding in Vancouver because
that's where the entertainment. Uh.And I made I made the crack about
how my passport photo is one whereand I'm not saying it was by design,
(49:20):
it was happenstance. But if youwere a terrorist and you took over
a plane or a train or aboat, and you collected everybody's passports and
you were going through them. Youget to mind, you got okay,
let's skip him. And so Imade that joke at the airport. I
go, uh, there's the picturesthat'll stop the terrorists from grabbing that guy.
And man, I was whisped intoa room quicker than you can say
(49:43):
Shuskatoon and they wanted to They weregoing through the lnt in my pockets.
They were I had to show mywedding invitation, my my wedding shoes.
They were like, you shouldn't besaying anything about terrorism at the I'm like,
oh, making the jokes for lightin the mood because my picture is
so awkward and I gotta show itto you, but it is. It
(50:06):
is the most awkward black and white, crazy hair, my shirt striped like
I took it, you know,at a concentration camp. And I just
look like, don't pick this guy. Hey, you gotta bring in your
passport photos. Will you guys takemuch shots? That's all all right,
speaking of taking things, I don'twant you to take this laying down folks.
(50:30):
So far, there is only oneshow coming up on August nineteenth.
It is the taping of the SladeHam Comedy Special, a life's work encapsulated
into a ninety minute recording. Andif you don't buy tickets, then you're
not gonna get to go, andyou're gonna be like, hey, hook
me up, and there won't bea guest list, there's not gonna be
(50:52):
a slip you in through the backdoor, and you certainly won't be bothering
Slade himself to get those tickets. No, my phone is gonna stay one
night stand that day, you won'tbe able to reach you. I tell
people every time you've seen some ofthe shows when we've done Whiskey Brothers at
the Improv or Christmas shows and thingslike that, and I tell people every
time, look, get tickets. You're not you're gonna get there. You're
(51:13):
gonna think you gotta ace in thehole and you're gonna find yourself standing outside.
I can't do anything about this.I'm the performer, so come on
out. I'm gonna wreck that housefor a very long time. I'm working
diligently on the material. That's whatI'm doing up here in Canada on tour,
and then to come back home justto sit in front of some good,
fine, savvy Houstonians August nineteenth, get your stupid tickets, don't don't,
(51:37):
don't miss this. Now. Igotta ask because I know that in
the past, like you, youproduced and directed the Andy Huggins Comedy Special,
and of course you worked with uhI can't remember their name wasn't Adam,
But when you did The Whiskey Brothers, which is still available on Amazon
(51:58):
Prime, chase chance but claim.Um, yeah, so you had not
included in the recordings, but youhad to wet the appetite for the audience.
You had other performers that weren't includedin the taping. Will there be
is somebody work in the crowd? Is there somebody softening the membrane? Is
there something like that going on?Yes, there will for sure be an
(52:22):
opening act. I haven't decided whoyet. Um, I'm trying to pick
the right vibe for the show. It's got to be somebody who doesn't do
what I do, but also somebodyI like and get along with. So
it's I've got, you know howmany great choices I got. But there's
certainly going to be an opening actin there. No, Tom, There's
no way I'm going to walk uptheir hold. Yes, you tell her
(52:43):
you're giving me. Do I wanta sacrificial lamb or do I not human
shield? Or none? Um,I think I'd rather go up the elevator
with the body in front of you. Please. Oh I so, And
I think this is top of themind for me because I get notifications and
when I when I not instantly,but I sit down. I watched the
Slate ham Experience when you do youryour thoughts from the Midnight Spaceship, and
(53:07):
you recently had an episode where youtalked about the whole esthetic and calculation between
the opener, the host, thefeature, and then the headliner. And
it was interesting because you know, you're you live in a world of comics.
You have your Whiskey Brothers podcast. You you're on the road, so
you're you're talking comedy all the time. The rest of us that love to
(53:29):
go to comedy shows or love towatch company specials, we don't necessarily we're
not paying attention enough to understand untilwe're there sitting in the Giggle Hut or
the Haha House and we're waiting andyou're like, oh, wait, so
who's this guy that's telling us tofill out the cards to be on the
(53:50):
email you're not aware of that,And I thought you broke it down very
very nicely the other day on thatepisode Thank You. It's a it's a
good place for you, says, place for me to sort of organize my
thoughts if someone should go back, and I bet they could after I'm done
with this special, and when it'sout, they could probably go back to
the slate him experiment over the lastyear and see little threads of the stuff
(54:14):
that makes it to the stage. And then along the way you'll be able
to get some stuff like that, which is just kind of I really like
pulling the curtain back on stand upcomedy and kind of showing people and telling
to like, here's my thought processI got. I got a quarter of
a century into this art form, and let me share it with people who
seem to be interested in it morenow than ever. It's fascinating to me
(54:36):
and as I with you as yourfriend and your cheerleader. So like when
I watched the it was Bill Birdthat a Red Rock special, and I
remember I remember telling you the lightywas horrible, so you got to look
the headshots to due horrible iratl whatthey were thinking, and you're like,
oh, Okay, damn, allright, settled doubt. But it's you
know what, you become emotionally aswell as intellectually invested in something that you
(55:00):
know, then you're noticing things. And let me just tell you, Slade
doesn't need any more ideas about jokesor funny punch lines or ideas or uh
what sniglets premises. He doesn't andthis includes me, all right, so
just stop offering. Oh oh,I got this, I got this.
I was I was laughing. Iwas talking with the guy that runs the
(55:22):
Republic Holida Davidson, which I guessyou were just in the other day.
Yeah, I just popped and I'mjust telling them how I was telling the
story about the bonus holes and howI called you. I'm so excited.
You're like, okay, thanks, having even had coffee yet, but thanks
for the great insights for my nextviral joke that I'm not gonna do.
And okay, you say that, but you and I are close enough and
(55:44):
I trust your judgment enough that Ibelieve on the last episode I might have
punched it. So h Dave, you know the state of minor man.
When I started flying that spaceship, somebody touched a bonus hole. Well that's
what we were all talking about.Okay, So get your tickets. Get
them now. It's a moon Towerticket Lake, but it's on your Facebook
(56:07):
page. I'm going to share itright now on our Facebook page. Whether
you're coming down to join us atthe Cowboys Surfer or whether you're just planning
your own outlaw Saturday night, makesure that you plan to join us on
August nineteenth for what is going tobe a great night of comedy. There's
going to be a lot of greatand interesting people, a luminaries. It'll
be there, and I hope tosee each and every one of you there
(56:28):
too. You don't get back fromCanada for another week or so. Yeah,
I'm here through the end of themonth. In Toronto for the rest
of the week, then over toOttawa. This feign Nation's capital. It's
some really good people out there, and I love the clouds and I'm excited
that this is where I get towork everything else where. I come back
down to Texas. Seems like there'snothing better than going to another country and
(56:50):
then coming back to Texas, whichis its own country. And we'll just
five past the United States for thisspecial entirely day. It's like direct no
slot. We didn't even have totouch down in the Cotlanda, United States.
The Little Nation lives here Joe Gaitbuddy at Law Dave and the nine
one one garage door Service dot Comstudios using the Farrell phone patch like Janice,
(57:16):
not a farreal cat to plug intothe Roadcaster six thousand. We've got
our dear friend, Warred Officer GregEllick for the Texas State Guards second Brigade
on the phone with us as wetalk about hurricane preparedness. How are you
this evening? Doing very well?Sir? We were talking about the fact
(57:37):
that hurricane season is now upon usand a lot of people don't really know
once a hurricane hits, and certainlyanyone who's lived here for any extended period
of time knows that it's not aif it's a whin, there's the inevitability.
But the Texas State Guard actually playsa very important role, not leading
(57:58):
up to, but after a hurricaneor tropical storm strikes the Gulf Coast Tectis
State Guard, along with the TexasArmy National Guard and Texas Air National Guard,
is one of the three military branchescomprising Texas Military Department, and our
job is to provide Texas with supportto support instate missions from emergency and disaster
response to community service. Let's talkabout Harvey. What did you guys do
(58:22):
in the aftermath of Harvey. DuringHarvey, we were deployed across many counties,
all the affected counties, and wewere there partnered with many agencies and
the Texas Army National Guard, theTexas Air National Guard, and we operated
shelters, We provided water, weprovided food, We helped with getting the
(58:45):
people out of harm's way using aspecial system, the Emergency Tracking Network,
and so we are the prime operatorsfor that so that we don't end up
with the problem after the fact ofhaving people displaced and not knowing where they
are. So we have accountability andtracking of all those folks we pull out
(59:06):
of arms way so we can bringthem back when the storm is cleared.
Not just all those sexy water rescuesthen, not just all those water recues,
sir, but all of those sheltersacross And I'm that's part of my
job is I train and get ready. We are training year round to make
sure that people have a safe placeto get out of arms way and that
(59:30):
we are helping them to get intohigh water vehicles and keeping track of them
so they can make their way backhome safely. And so that's one of
the things. And I noticed thatthe last couple of times that there are
automated systems where people can reach outand say, you know, I'm here.
I want you to know where I'velocated, what part of town or
(59:51):
part of the city, were partof the county, and then I guess
on the backside of that, otherpeople can reach out and find out the
staff of people if they needed tohave been rescued, or if they needed
to have been evacuated, or ifthey needed to have been moved to a
different location. There's a very complextracking system for that now, yes,
Sarah, there is, and thatavoids the problem of having people walking up
(01:00:16):
and trying to find out where lovedones are and the privacy involved with that
because it's all handled through the electronicsystem and all of those controls are in
place, so people are able tofind their loved ones because everybody has plugged
(01:00:36):
into the system and that way it'snot just an individual walking up and providing
a name. Privacy is number onethere, but it's part of the Safe
and Well program so that they knowthat their loved ones are well taken care
of, and which chokers they're inand all of that, And so it's
all about helping them immediate to getout of the store and then down the
(01:01:00):
line to get them to the nextlevel, because obviously they're not going to
spend the rest of their life inthe shelter. To give them back on
the road again, have you seenmy aunt Joe? She was wearing a
Mumu house, slippers, loud talesinappropriate jokes, probably had a drink in
her hand. She's parked cajun.Oh no, we haven't seen your Aunt
Joe and Dave, but I'm sureshe'll show up somewhere. One of the
(01:01:21):
things that you and I talked aboutthe other day, there are a lot
of people that have moved to theHouston area, we're to the Gulf Coast
that maybe haven't lived there their wholelives here, so they're not ingrained with
some of the things. And certainlythere's a hurricane preparedness checklist. We're gonna
go over that. But one ofthe one of the golden rules that you
(01:01:42):
and I touched on just the othernight, was If there's a storm in
the gulf, what do you do? You fill up your cane clicks yes,
yes, you don't want to bethat family when you're evacuating. Hold
on, we gotta get gas.And suddenly you're pulling off the evacuation root.
Now you're in line at the timeWise store with all the other people
(01:02:02):
that are new here. If there'sa storm in the Gulf, you fill
up with gas. If there's astorm in the Gulf, you fill up
with gas. Now there we willgo of the hurricane preparedness list, which
is basically what did you call abugout bag? You need to have a
bugout bag if you're evacuating. That'sone of the primary things that people talk
(01:02:25):
about. And so what would goin there? Important documents, right of
course, but one of the firstthings to think about is water and food.
The water for three days if ifyou're taking off, but if you're
staying put in your house, youneed to have two weeks of food and
water there to go. But yes, all of your documents, um everything
(01:02:47):
that you may need, and ofcourse medicine, enough medicine for at least
a week. I never thought aboutthat. So if you're evacuating, you
should have a couple they supply ofwater and food to take with you because
you don't know where you're going toend up. We had certainly was that
Rita where people ended up stuck onI ten headed west and two ninety for
(01:03:10):
several days. Yes, that iscorrect, sir, absolutely, And I
did want to mention in terms ofwater this last month we were reminding people
we were in Alcampode Dave in Juneand we actually handed out six thousand bottles
of water with the help of oursponsor HB to the local community, just
(01:03:32):
to remind people to have that wateron hand. Now, one of the
other water functions that you may notbe aware of, especially if you don't
live down here your whole life.If there's a hurricane and you're not evacuating,
one of the things that you needto do is fill up your bathtub
with water. And Greg, doyou know why you have to fill up
(01:03:52):
your bathtub with water. One ofthe reasons is so that you'll be able
to take water out of there andplush your commode. That's right, folks,
The commodes will work with potable water, with standing water. I have
scooped water out of a swimming poolto flush the toilet just because the water
lines are down, just because,And that doesn't generally happen. But sometimes
(01:04:15):
if a relay station or a pumpingstation, the power goes out, maybe
you don't get water, maybe there'sa broken water mame. If you have
water at your house, you canstill fill up your tank and flush your
toilet. Now, I remember announcingthat I was going over a checklist on
the radio many many years ago asthe storm was approach. You fill up
your tope with water, You fillup a pot with water, put it
(01:04:39):
in the freezer, so you havea huge block of ice in case you
lose electricity. And you want tomake sure. I said, you stock
up beer and food, And sayssome guy filled up the tub, he
filled up the pot of water,he put it in the freezer. He
checked, Oh, I gotta goto the store. You gotta go get
the beer and the food. Andhe forgot to turn off the tub,
and he flooded his apartment and hisdownstairs before the storm it even hit.
(01:05:01):
So you need to pay attention, don't get all scattered, and don't freak
out right. Calmness is one ofthe most important things preparation and as far
as that goes. SEMA Online hasa proper emergency kit essential to hurricane preparedness.
You can go on there download it. Habit handy and just a few
(01:05:23):
quick things from that dave extra cashin case the ATMs are down, extra
fuel for the generator, cell phonewith charger, sanitation and personal hygiene items,
and a multi purpose tool like aSwiss army knife, and of course
don't forget the batteries for the flashlight. Extra batteries. Please. Let's talk
(01:05:44):
about generators. I know that onthe radio there's a lot of advertisement where
they talk about the generact system wherethey plug into your natural gas. These
generators are tens of thousands of dollars. Where there's a paper beds are available.
I'm not schlupping for a free one. I'll take it, but the
reality is greg you can buy agenerator at home Depot or Low's or any
(01:06:05):
other general service company where you canget a small generator anywhere from thirty nine
to eighty five, maybe one hundreddollars. That is enough to run some
power to your house, which wouldinclude keeping your refrigerator charged up. How
often do you have to run thegenerator to charge up a refrigerator, I
(01:06:26):
believe just about every six hours.Yeah, I think you can let it.
Just to put a thermometer in thereand keep track of the temperature.
You'll be good to go. You'llbe able to keep your food going.
I picked up, relatively inexpensive forless than two hundred dollars, an expensive
generator, and I ran it duringHarvey, and it made all the difference,
and my neighbors were able to useit as well. Fantastic. I
always want to share. Now,where do you not run a generators inside
(01:06:51):
you're a living space? You donot run a generator inside your living space
and generally try to keep it outfrom underneath and over and you don't want
to collect the noxious emissions the carbonmonoxide. So and recappied all this.
