Speaker 1 (00:01):
The right wing in this country once a rematch of
the Civil War.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
This is the Kelly Golden Show podcast powered by Disaster Plus.
On a Big Fail Friday.

Speaker 1 (00:12):
The President of the United States of America has declared
war on the people of Chicago and people across America.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
Chicago's mayor Brandon Johnson. My big fail this Friday. That
hyperbolic rhetoric is quite literally getting people killed and it
couldn't be farther from the truth. Welcome in Big Fail
Friday edition the show here on ninety four to three WSC.
That is so wrong, incorrect, false, But that kind of rhetoric, caustic, hateful,

(00:45):
disturbing is being ramped up post Charlie kirk assassination by
the left and the likes of Brandon Johnson, the mayor
in Chicago. And Trump was not wrong this week when
he said this guy JB. Prisker, their governor. They ought
to be in jail for failing to protect Ice agents.
They're being docs, They're being attacked. Millions of dollars in

(01:07):
damage is happening across blue state cities in America.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
All right.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
I want to turn this round upside down though, because
the red, the right, the Republican Party. Where are the
Party of peace and joy and inclusiveness and happiness and
love and all of that may be making you want
to throw up a little bit in your mouth. Charleston
County Chair the Republican Party, Andrew Bouchet, how are.

Speaker 4 (01:32):
You killing doing well?

Speaker 3 (01:34):
Last I saw you was a top the Ravenel Bridge,
the beautiful remembrance, the candlelight ceremony, the praying, the vigil
for Charlie Kirk and what an evening that was. And
to me it showed so much how different we are
when it comes to Republicans versus the left in a
time of tragedy.

Speaker 4 (01:55):
Absolutely, you know, it came together in a matter of
just a couple of days. You know, buy our out.
We had it close to one thousand people on that bridge.
It was peaceful, it was moving, We had a wonderful prayer,
people sang, we had bagpipes, and frankly, the most amazing
thing was the number of new faces we saw out
there and the number of younger faces we saw out there. Yes,

(02:17):
this is something that's really lit a fire under this
next generation because the person who they saw is speaking
for them was the person who was assascinated by the
last and we just don't know how much that's going
to affect this next generation, but I'm telling you, we're
seeing it on the ground already. People are coming out.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
It was incredible to see young people waving Jesus Saves flag.
Quite literally, there was almost a life size stuff. Jesus
lit cross. Made me wonder, Andrew, as a chairman of CCRP,
how do you not just engage with them in that
moment at that vigil, but from here moving forward.

Speaker 4 (02:55):
You know, one of the things we've really focused on
the last couple of years has been how do we
how do we make a welcoming party. How do we
make a party where your first interaction with the party
structure is fun, meaningful, productive, and it's something that you'd
be willing to tell your friend about. And so we've
tried to put events on the calendar where people can

(03:17):
walk in for the first time and feel at home
and feel engaged. Because I know it's so intimidating to
show up at something that you've never been to. I'm
going to get involved in politics, where do I turn what?
And that's a lot to ask of somebody. So we
do things like on Wednesday night we've got a neighborhood meetup,

(03:39):
and we've had a series of these over the past
few years where it's just say come and meet some
other Republicans, meet us at a bar, grab a drink.
There's no big speeches, it's just fellowship. It's meeting up,
it's maybe you get engaged. And that type of event
is huge for.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
Us, embracing the faith and fellowship around what is truly
a turning point with Charlie Kirk's assassination. I don't need
to tell you the ramping up of the rhetoric on
the left. I mean just some of the reaction to
the complete opposite of vigils and not vandalism and not violence,
and in fact, people like we saw so many young
people up on the top of the bridge of Revenue

(04:18):
Bridge that day, people who are leaning in and thank
goodness showing up. We hope that continues. Frankly, there's a
candidate's forum. So next Thursday, on the sixteenth, we've got
early voting coming up. There's a municipal election.

Speaker 5 (04:30):
People, there's a municipal election coming up this November. You
know Mount Pleasant on the ballot, the county council and
the mayor You've got a couple of key districts in
for Charleston City Council. We've got an election in Hollywood.
You know, all over the county. Local elections are happening
this November.

Speaker 4 (04:50):
And only vote starts on October twenty and it runs
for two weeks. Make sure you get out in the vote.
I always say that the issues that affect your life
the most are the issues that are decided at the
local level. Whether it's schools, traffic, access, business, all of
that stuff has decided at the local level in those elections.

(05:12):
There's this November and it's not as splashy or glamorous,
but if republished and show up, we're able to keep
Republican conservative leadership in Charleston County.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
Are you worried that that momentum is waning given the
big win in November and re electing Donald Trump, that
it's like, oh, well, we're done here.

Speaker 4 (05:30):
It's always a challenge to make sure people vote in
an odd numbered year election, always, but I think more
people are engaged than have ever been engaged before. If anything,
last November puts some wind in our sales as a movement,
and it's got a bunch of people to double down
and double down again. I got to tell you our
biggest event of the year. And I might sound like

(05:53):
a salesman when I talk about it, because it is.
I've been doing this for thirty years in the world
of politics, eight most events. I'm not joking. I've been
to every rubber checking event you can imagine where speakers
get up and drown, on and on. So when we
came up with this idea of this event that's coming
up in a couple of weeks, it's called the Reagan Galus,

(06:14):
the third Annual Reagan galap, I said, all right, if
we're going to do this, it's got to be worthy
of Charleston and it's going to be big. It's going
to be beautiful, it's going to be you know, We're
going to have a great program and people are going
to want to come back to it year after year
after year. This is our third annual Reagan Galus, coming

(06:35):
up on October twenty third. The first two years we
did it at the Hibernian Hall. We have outgrown the
Hibernian Hall and this is for a black tie auptional event.
We're not messing around here. We have an event. We
have a live band, We have dinner, we have dancing,
we'll have a keynote speaker. People are dressed to the nine.

(06:57):
It is a fun event that people want to come
back to every year, and this year we've moved it
to Boone Hall because we outgrew the Hibernian Haul downtown
and this Reagan. I'm telling you it's the event of
the year. It's our biggest fundraiser. We've got a silent auction.
We have somebody donate a week at a villa in
Tuscany for our silent off. You can go find those

(07:20):
stuff online at the Charleston Republican Party website Charleston Republicans
dot org. You'll find all this stuff. But I'm telling
you this gala is going to be bigger, better than ever,
and it is actually a fun political event that you
would want to come back to year after year, which
is why we keep growth.

Speaker 3 (07:38):
And it'll be your biggest one, your largest one yet
at big, beautiful Boone Hall Plantation. So you mentioned the date,
but truly, people need to go online now and get
tickets because y'all always sell out.

Speaker 4 (07:48):
We will sell out. We'll probably sell out by the
end of this week. We've got two and a half weeks.
And I have it on very good authority from my
wife that the woman in your life, if you're a woman,
you're going to need a week or two to make
sure you've got the dress, make sure you've got everything
lined up, planning your outfit. This is what my wife's

(08:09):
telling me. So I would get your tickets now. And
it's October twenty third at Boone Hall. It's going to
be an amazing night.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
It truly is. I'm in that mode you are, though,
I'm excited by it.

Speaker 4 (08:23):
I'm fired up. But this is the biggest fundraiser of
the year for the party. Well, in every dollar we
raise stays right here in Charleston County. You know, we
don't do anything what's federal raising, you know all this stuff.
We focus on making sure that we have good schools,
we have good roads, we have low taxes, we have
a business friendly environment right here in Charleston County by

(08:45):
electing good republic.

Speaker 3 (08:46):
And so that's important Andrew for people to hear from
the chairman of Charleston's Republican Party that this money goes
towards candidates who are running for all the causes that
you talked.

Speaker 4 (08:56):
About it's critical, it's what affects your life every.

Speaker 3 (09:00):
And it's going to be a really fun time. So
dancing and as you mentioned, dinner and the keynote speaker
looking forward to finding out more about that. There's a
VIP reception again, you need to go get your tickets now.
So Charleston Republicans Republicans dot org. You mentioned the silent
auction items, those are already up for grabs. So who
doesn't want to spend some time in Italy in a villa.

Speaker 4 (09:23):
Oh be charter fishing strips, we have you know er dinners,
you name it.

Speaker 3 (09:28):
We got it well just in time for the holidays.
So an event for a great cause. Third Annual Riaging
Gala is coming up Booon Hall Plantation, So you need
to market on your calendar, but get your tickets right away,
don't sleep on it. So it's October twenty third, anything else, Andrew,
I mean, I see the momentum. I don't see it
as as waning at all, given the huge victory in

(09:50):
November with the President. But I understand how difficult it
is when it falls off the radar, when you're in
an off year election and the President's not on the
ballot right.

Speaker 4 (09:59):
It always, but this is unlike anything I've seen before.
And if there's one message I can get across, if
you care about politics, you're a little bit fired up.
You find yourself thrown something at the TV every now
and then, now is the time to take the step
to get involved overly, because here's where you make the difference.
Here's where you can meet other people to share your views.

(10:21):
Here's how you can affect the political world. That's right
here at home. Getting involved with a party or with
a candidate or a campaign. That's what members. So get involved,
get fired up. There is an outlet for the energy
you're feeling. We'd love to meet you.

Speaker 3 (10:38):
We should probably mention in case people come across as
too late and the rigging gala is all filled up,
that the Christmas party is coming up too. If you
want to put it on your dance card, save the
day for Saturday, December sixth.

Speaker 4 (10:51):
That's right, And that one's always fun. We always come
up with something a little bit crazy and goofy at
the Christmas party because frankly, if we just were a
regular Christmas party, we got a fun of those that
you got to go. You know, you get dragged you
every year. Now our Christmas party, we focus on welcoming
and fun and engaging folks and plugging people in.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
Well, we know how to party. I know that Democrats
always try to act like Republicans or a bunch of stiffs.
It's like, what have we met? You're right, Charleston Republicans
dot Org get there today.

Speaker 4 (11:24):
Thank you so much, Kelly. I appreciate it. Thank you
for all the work you do.
