We've got making America great again, healthy again? How about
fit again? Making America fit again. Britt Mahoney, owner of
the brand new Moe's Fitness Club with your lovely husband Brian, Welcome.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
In, Thanks for having me.
Speaker 1 (00:18):
So this is Moe's Fitness Club to be specific in Summerville,
Dorchester Road near Old Trolley.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
If you smell the barbecue your.
Speaker 4 (00:28):
Clothes, yes, we're right behind Swing and Swine, which it
does smell really good.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
In the week we have to say with them doing
the meat.
Speaker 4 (00:34):
But you know what, you can go right over there
right after you work out because your body is craving
protein at that point.
Speaker 1 (00:40):
It was fun to be at the opening of most
fitness club and it's fun to see you guys grow.
So who are Britney and Brian Mahoney.
Speaker 4 (00:48):
We moved here about four years ago now from New
Jersey and we come from a corporate fitness background. So
my husband and I were in corporate fitness, my husband
twenty years, me about seven years, and that.
Speaker 2 (00:59):
Is out of New City.
Speaker 4 (01:00):
So corporate fitness is basically like those big corporate buildings,
they bring fitness centers within their building.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
She was telling me Wall Street Journal, Fox.
Speaker 4 (01:08):
Yep, Fox News hearst Morgan, Stanley, Goldman, Sachs Bank of America.
Speaker 3 (01:13):
You were working out the personalities.
Speaker 4 (01:15):
Yes, so we had all those big corporations and so
that's where we got our start was corporate fitness. And
the thing about corporate fitness that's a little bit different
than commercial is the customer service. We have that white
gloves service for our members and we make them feel welcome,
and we want to bring them into our area and
make them all feel like they are the same person.
(01:36):
There's no levels in the gym. Everybody is the same
and we all work to the same goal.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
What's fun is you know, welcome to Mo's in the
restaurant world, Well, it's welcome home at Most Fitness in Summerville.
Speaker 4 (01:47):
Yes, we want to invite you in like this is
our home. We've got complimentary coffee, We've got a really
great arrangement of equipment that has purposely set up for
everybody's likes. Brian, my husband, took a long time to
really set it up and put it in a way
where people felt welcome and comfortable. If you feel like,
you know, being alone, We've got turf in the center,
(02:08):
set up a little area for yourself. If you don't
know where to go, We've got workouts on the wall.
We can walk you through it and we can kind
of get you started. If you don't want to do that,
we've got a YouTube channel that actually has workouts that
are up there and maybe some tips and tricks that
you may not know. We also show you how to
use the equipment. So we want to meet you where
you are and welcome you in and hey, maybe you
(02:29):
don't feel like working out, that's fine, Come have a
coffee with us. Come, you know, meet some of your
neighbors and see some of the businesses that we support.
And we really wanted to be more of a community center,
and that's why we treat it like it's our home.
We make sure everything is clean and stucked, and we
want you to just feel comfortable.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
It's family friendly. You talk about the community quite literally.
When I was there, I bought eggs. You got a
guy who makes sour dough. There's other farmers out here
once a week dropping off what's growing in the field.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (03:00):
Absolutely, Well, we want to promote our small businesses because
that's important. That is kind of the backbone, and I
think you've said it before.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
Keley. It's our backbone.
Speaker 4 (03:07):
Of our area and we want to work together and
make everything easy for anybody coming to work out.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
So just some fun things, yeah, our members. Somebody makes
sourdough bread and it's so good. Oh my god, it's
so good.
Speaker 4 (03:19):
I had somebody come and change my oil in the
parking lot. So while I'm there change my oil. I
have somebody coming to help do car washes. So maybe
you don't have time to get your car cleaned or
detailed while you work out. Why don't you get that
car detailed. I've got somebody who's an author for a
kid's book, you know. So we have so many people
in the community that do so many wonderful things and
we want to showcase that. And one of our biggest
(03:41):
ones is the group of Farms. It's a husband and
wife and they drop off weekly to our members. Make
it easy, fresh produce and vegetables and fruit that are
the freshest, no pesticides, and they.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
Drop it off. So make it easy.
Speaker 4 (03:55):
That's your meal for the week. You want to box
it and then you've got that fresh produce.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
You can go every Tuesday that's your workout day at
MOS and you get to pick up.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
Your groceries too.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
Yeah, Groover Farms already drops off what's grown in the
field goes in a box.
Speaker 4 (04:09):
Absolutely, because you know what, we know that your lifestyle
is busy.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
Everybody is busy.
Speaker 4 (04:14):
They've got commitments, and we don't want you to let
your health fall to the waistside. And so we meet
you where you are. We're twenty four to seven. Not
everybody has a nine to five job, and we understand that.
So we're open for you and we want to make
everything easy for you to be there and feel comfortable
so you can get your workout in because it's it
is important.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
It definitely is.
Speaker 4 (04:34):
You've got to keep your body moving because I always
say if you don't use it, you lose it, and as.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
You get older that will be very true.
Speaker 4 (04:40):
So I want to encourage all age levels, start young,
and we have members as old as eighty. You got
to keep moving because that's the only way that you're
going to be living a pain free life is to
keep it in motion.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
Mosfitnessclub dot com is the website to get more information
Mosfitnessclub dot com.
Speaker 3 (04:57):
So may let's talk about women here first.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
I because the White House just putting out this week
when it comes to women's health month, every day is
men's health women's health, But for women specifically, we tend
to put ourselves last.
Speaker 4 (05:13):
We do because we have families to care for and
we're givers. That's not to say that men are not givers,
but women just have a different personality where they put
everybody else first and they're like, yeah, when I get
to it, I'll get to it. And that's why probably
the biggest thing why women suffer from a lot of
chronic diseases. Heart disease is one of the biggest things
that women tend to suffer from, diabetes, high blood pressure,
(05:33):
and then also as we get older, ladies, it happens
we all can talk about it. There's metopause, it comes up,
and then it's a whole other ballgame, and you know,
it's very hard to manage to that point. So trum
keeping things at bay is really important. And exercise is
one of the biggest things. It's diet and exercise together,
but exercise really does make a difference, even a small difference.
I know most people don't think that getting up and
(05:55):
just even taking a walk movement makes a huge difference
in lowering all of those chronic diseases as you get older.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
Well, and this is coming from a gal who was
predisposed to type one diabetes heart disease, high cholesterol with
your genes alone.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
But you can reset the clock like brit has.
Speaker 2 (06:11):
Yes, you can.
Speaker 4 (06:11):
Now. You can't erase your your genes obviously, your genes
are your genes, but you can kind of keep them
at bay. So yeah, so I am predispositioned for type
one diabetes. My A one C three is exactly the
same every single year, and my doctor told me because
of my diet and my exercise and movement it is,
I've kept it at a steady state and I'm not
in that type one range right now. My family is
(06:34):
high cholesterol. I have low cholesterol now, my HDL, which
is that good. Fat is high, which is good. I
do not have any blood pressure, which is great. So
you can keep it at bay and keeping your body moving.
Your body needs to be made up of mostly muscle
because muscle is stronger than fat obviously, So if your
body is made up of more muscle, then your body
(06:55):
will be able to overcome any obstacles when it comes
to getting sick. When it comes to being injured, your
body will recover faster.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
So we want you to be motivated to put yourself first,
not last. This month, how about that, ladies, So May
being Women's Health month, you're in a wave enrollment fees
for the ladies who are listening out there mosfitnessclub dot com.
Speaker 4 (07:16):
Yes, correct, come on down. We're waving our enrollment fees.
We're super excited about it. And bring a friend. Bring
a friend. We also if you're a member, we have
a great referral program. If you're a member and your
friend joins, you get a month for free, which is amazing.
So we want you to encourage your friends to come
with you work out together because women need to work
out together and help each other out.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
We all have got to do it together. It's not
a one person thing.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
Well, we haven't forgot about you guys. Coming up next
month in June, just ahead of Father's Day. I know
y'all are going to have an event where you want
people to come by and say hi midweek on Wednesday,
June eleventh. You can mark your calendars for it. It's
going to be three to six. Come by the gym
there again old trolley road there at Dorchester and look
(08:01):
for the I love your sign out front, the big beautiful,
the big beautiful sign.
Speaker 4 (08:07):
We did that on purpose. We wanted it illuminated so
at night people would see it. And it does illuminate
at night if you drive by it and you're stuck
in traffic which Dorchester Road, Oh yes, you can see
the illuminated sign. And we made sure that that was
a must have.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
So ahead of Father's Day coming up on June eleven,
three to six, you can scoop up on one of
a kind Father's Day gift. I know you're going to
have people in the community you mentioned even your own
members who have small businesses to include. I would suggest
a membership for dad and most and that includes the family.
This is a family friendly environment. I know you have
a fundamentals workshop coming up for kids before June into May.
Speaker 4 (08:44):
Yeah, so May twenty seventh and six pm, we are
having a youth fundamentals training workshop. So it's titled Things
I Wish I knew at thirteen years old. My husband's
going to be doing it. He has about twenty five
years in the industry and knows this very well. Just
showing you the fundamental starting off because now he deals
with a lot of people who've worked out incorrectly or
maybe was coached incorrectly to play sports and they have injuries,
(09:08):
and now he's trying to offset the injuries and be
able to keep them kind of in a steady state.
So if you're an athlete, if you're in the off season,
definitely come and attend it and learn kind of fundamentals
to help you in whatever sport you play. Or if
maybe you don't know if you're working out correctly, or
you have a younger child starting out, they can work out,
but they have to work out smartly so they can progress.
(09:31):
We're just about being able to help you in your
journey and keep yourself injury free, that's the name of
the game. And keep yourself stronger so you'll be better
in your sports later on, you'll be better in your
daily life the stronger you are. The biggest thing is
being able to touch your feet. I know that sounds
like a crazy thing, but there's a lot of people
that cannot touch their feet and that is a huge
(09:54):
red flag if you're not able to touch your feet,
because that means you have limited mobility, and it only
it's worse as you get older, and you don't want
limited mobility.
Speaker 2 (10:02):
We want to be mobile. That is one of the
things that we look at.
Speaker 1 (10:06):
So this use fundamental workshops kicking off May twenty seventh
at six pm. We want you to sign up though
for summer training. This could be a series. So hey,
you want to get the kids involved, Yes, we want
them engaged in summer activities that are positive and that
includes your fitness. So email you for more information. So
(10:26):
it's info at Moosfitnessclub dot com. Info at Mosfitnessclub dot com.
Speaker 4 (10:32):
Yep, we welcome everybody, so anybody interested you can email.
Speaker 2 (10:36):
You'll be emailing me and I.
Speaker 4 (10:38):
Just want to kind of get your background and where
you're coming from. It's not going to be one size
fits all. It is going to be customized to your needs.
So everything will be customized. So we want to know
your journey and where you are. So it's important to
kind of meet you and meet us a neighborhood.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
Jim with Customer Service is locally owned and operated.
Speaker 3 (10:56):
Yes, talk about standing apart.
Speaker 4 (10:59):
We enjoy it. So just a really fast story. So
yesterday morning, I'm the five am crew. So if you
like five am, that's me. My husband does later. So
I had a member who joined yesterday and he ran
up to me in the morning and.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
He was like, Hi, I just want to introduce myself.
Speaker 4 (11:15):
I joined yesterday and he's like, I just wanted to
introduce myself. And I said, well, welcome. You know, I'm
so excited to have you. I said, what do you
What do you think so far? He's like, oh, it's great.
He's like, but I just really want to introduce myself.
I'm so excited. And I was like, that's what we want.
I loved that he wanted to introduce himself and he
started talking to other members, and that's what we want.
Get excited we're here. We want to see smiling people.
(11:37):
We come in and smile.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
Even at five am.
Speaker 4 (11:39):
I all put on some some fun music. We know
five am is a tough hour, so we've got to
make it fun.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
We have to come out.
Speaker 4 (11:46):
It's it's a good time and not saying the night isn't.
We also have night owls as well. They loved They
loved to be there at night too, So welcome home.
Speaker 1 (11:53):
That's m oes Mosfitness Club dot com to get more information.

(12:16):
what you're doing in the low country.
Speaker 2 (12:18):

Speaker 4 (12:20):

you just mentioned, which is an incredible thing for membership,
so that's.

memberships as well, so even if you're a first responder
or one of the veterans, you still can do a
family membership as well, so you can add anybody else
on there.
