Speaker 1 (00:08):
Welcome back to the nerding that you need to know
on iHeartRadio and podcast services around the world. I'm Kevin.
It's just me Oose today and you're listening to this
Superman filled episode of Crisis on Infinite Podcasts. Yep, Hoodie
is jet setting across the world again. He'll be back
on Sunday or Monday, probably Monday, because I feel like
(00:30):
many of the day to recover, So yeah, probably Monday.
He'll be back. Hopefully by then he's seen Superman and
we can talk about it then. But then you just
got me. Hello, it's me. I am also a problem,
but that's a whole other story. But it's just me
today here on Christis on alivhent podcast. As always, you
can always reach out to us on any of our
socials at if Underscore Pods, on Instagram, on Twitter. You
(00:53):
watch us live twice a week on Twitch dot tv
Slash Infinite Underscore Pods. Well, we just made affiliate, so
thank you that. I didn't think that was gonna be
possible because we're not really every day streamers, like usually
the every day people do that kind of stuff or
like you're big guy kind of funny. They own Twitch.
I think Twitch runs off of them at this point, honestly,
but thank you for get us to affiliate. We don't
(01:15):
understand it fully yet, but we will do a deep
dive and we'll get all into that to make sure
we give you, guys, the things you want to. I
guess now we can give you stuff and you can
give subscriptions. I mean, you can do a lot of
things here now that I didn't see last week. But
thank you for that, guys, as always, But if you
can't watch a lot on Twitch, we understand, you can
also join us on demand at your own leisure on
(01:35):
YouTube dot com, Slash Infinite, Underscore pods. All right, now,
Usually we start to show off of what you're doing.
We're talking about the shows we've been watching, games we've
been playing, lives we've been living, and so it's just me.
It's gonna hear my what you've been what you're doing.
So since we've last met, of course, I have seen
I have seen it. I have seen it. I have
(01:58):
seen Superman and man, we'll get all into that very
very soon because man, oh gosh, what a good just
a good, good old time in the theater. So I
saw that on Tuesday night, Monday night, and then I
think that it was funny that I was so jazzed
up as I saw it. I kind of stayed up
(02:19):
until like midnight because I was really curious see what
everyode else thought of it. Because you sometimes we go
see one of these kind of movies, you're like, I
really enjoy that everybody's gonna love this movie, and then
you get get out to the cool quote war. I
was like, oh, nobody likes it. I'm different. But I
stayed up to about midnight actually, just to watch other
film reactions come in from around the world, I mean
(02:40):
around the country, and it was all just glowing reviews.
This is good, this is great, this is good. The
Superman we Wanted is a compic movie that we always
wanted Superman. I mean, there are a few negative ones
in there, and we'll talk about those, but all in all, overall,
this is a good movie. So if you haven't seen
this yet, if you didn't go to the Amazon special
screaming on Tuesday night, and if you weren't lucky to
go to our earlier screening on Monday night, and you've
(03:01):
seen it tonight, or you already saw today. I think
screen saw today around two o'clock. If you have seen
already today, if you've seen it tonight, you're in for
a real good treat. This is just a really, really,
really good superhero comic book movie. So I stayed up
all night to watch listen to reviews because I'm just
a huge nerd. So of course Wednesday morning I was dragging,
(03:21):
and then on Wednesday I spent my day just refreshing
around Tomato was like, what's gonna be score? What's gonna
be score? What's gonna be score? And we'll get into
that when we get into non sported part of the review.
So my day's been My week has been really filled
with Superman. This guy right here, But yes, I can't
do it because I have weird death perception issues. But
there there is, there is that's right there for a
(03:43):
podcasts when I was pointing to my capes in my background.
But it's been a really Superman field week. All I've
really been thinking about. I've been watching a lot of
coverage on it on YouTube. Haven't watched any real shows
of note, but I did do a thing on PlayStation,
so I did get a review copy of College Football
twenty six. I haven't played it yet. Because I also,
(04:06):
for some reason Reinssaw Adventures on my PS five. I'm
playing that all week. I don't know why. I still
really enjoyed that game. I know the game gets a
bad rap. Nobody really likes it. It was had the
potential with something great but never even came close to
reaching it just kind of waved at it as it
was jumping and trying to catch it. But I really
enjoyed the game. So I've been playing that a lot
(04:27):
this week, and because well, I originally rebooted it back
up on my Xbox on Saturday, and I couldn't figure
out why only my Iron Man cover character was leveled
up all the way I remember, Oh, I actual plays
on PlayStations, and then I actually had to booted my
PS four upgrade to upload the save and booted my
PS five and redownload the PS five version of it
(04:49):
and up it was a whole thing, but I got
it all gravy now when I'm playing the Adventures again,
the game that came out five years ago at this
point during the pandemic, that we all thought it was
great for like two weeks and we realized, no, but
maybe it's not so great. But for me. It's still
a lot of fun. Throwing hammers, being Black Panther flying
with Iron Man, throwing a shield. That's all the good time,
all a good time. That's all I've been doing. So
(05:12):
for today's show, we have one topic and one topic only,
and that is the Man of Steel Superman. Not the
Man of Steel the movie, but the Man is Steel
Superman the movie that he just came out. Superman the
Movie's confusing. I'm sorry they shouldn't do that, but yeah,
we only have one topic today and this Superman and
the review of the of the movie. So we're gonna
do this in two ways. I'm gonna give you my
(05:33):
non spoiler review first, and then after that we will
get into some spoilers because it's kind of hard to
get into the nitty gritty of what I thought about
the movie without the spoilers. But I got you cover here.
So what you can do is, I'm sure if you're
listening to this right now in the car with Twitch on.
First of all, naughty shouldn't be watching Twitch while you're driving,
(05:54):
even though I've done it the same thing, but it
shouldn't do it. Once I get to the spoiler part,
I'm gonna put a spoiler warning on. Oh Anie Drogons
dropped in the chat. She may have to chee out
of spoilers. That has never happened. Any Drogon is a
spoiler hound. Spoilers don't rule her life, like if you
(06:14):
rule everybody else's. Any don't care. Any going to get
her get her content? She don't care. But I'm gonna
put a spoiler warning up. So one step spoiler warning
goes up. You can go ahead and either mute me
and just keep it up for so you give give
us that good old view on YouTube and Twitch, or
you can just join us next time because on it
(06:34):
it'll stay up for about a week on Twitch and
it will stay up forever on YouTube. So and if
you are watching this, listening to this after the fact,
same thing I will tell you when to spoiler warning
is up. Hopefully by that time you are at the
theater and you can just go into the theater, enjoy
your time. Two hours and I think twenty nine minutes
of Superman goodness, come back into the car, listen to
the review. So hopefully it'll work out just right for us.
(07:00):
So any droe gun has seen it in three hours,
any Droe guns on West Coast time, so she's seen
it at nine o'clock East Coast time, six o'clock ish
Arizona time. You're in for a good time, Andy, That's
all I can say. You're in for a really really
good time. You're gonna love this. You're gonna love it
if I mean even so, I go. I was going
to the Hospitalterview right now. So well, first us do
the theater experience. We saw a Silver Spring in in
(07:25):
Silver Spring, DC and at the Regal Regal I can't
remember it's called Regal something, but it's Regal theater. I
was low key with the snaxt of time. Just popcorn
and soda, just keep it easy, some twizzlers and twizzlies.
The theater was a little warm. Apparently they didn't turn
the air on in the theater to about an hour
before showtime, which, okay, it's weird Imax theater and Jurassic
(07:48):
Park is out, so I don't know why you didn't
have that thing going all day. But you know whatever,
it's been hot. Everybodys trying to save a little money
here and there. I get it, but it's mad. It
was okay when the movie started, but towards the end
of it, I can feel like the nose sweat speeds
popping up. But okay, this I'm really enjoying this, but
I wish it was a little bit maybe three degrees
cooler in here make a lot of difference. So that
was that. Fortunately, the speakers the sound was great. Uh
(08:11):
imax looked really really really amazing, and there was no
other real well it wasn't It was a lot of
cool cosplayer players there. There was one couple that was
Clark Kent in the middle of transitioning to Superman, so
he had on like like the tie that was that
was ripped up and the shirt open showing the s
and then his girlfriend or wife or sister, I don't
know who she was was Supergirl and a full Supergirl
(08:34):
were guy. Yea, it looked she looked really great as it.
There were a bunch of Superman in you know, like
Superman onesies with a cape. There were a couple of
super Boys super boys in the crowd, a lot of
Superman T shirts in general. Unfortunately, Hoodie couldn't make it
to the screening with me on on Monday. He had
something to pop up in the last second. I was
gonna wear my cape. The cape is right there, but
(08:57):
it just didn't work out because if he wasn't there,
I didn't want to do it by myself. I felt
weird doing it by myself, so I didn't didn't wear it.
I chickened out, unfortunately, so just me mister Eric V.
And I can't remember mister Aerion, he's friends name, but
it's his birthday either today or yesterday, so happy birthday.
Eric's friend, by the way, Happy forty. So we got
we saw it. We hung out for a little while,
(09:19):
and I know, Andy, I should have done it, but
I just chickened out because its hoodie. Hoodie's my He's
like that a best friend that pumps you up. Didn't
he wasn't there, and then Eric's gonna look look at me.
I got. I had two heads. I was like, oh,
I'll just I'll just eat this l and I won't
have my cape this time. So the thin experience was
(09:41):
really good. The movie did start about thirteen minutes late.
And this is an extreme first world problem. But you know,
for me, just because I'm a dad and I got
kids and a wife, I like things beyond time because
I got other things that go take care of when
I get home. But it's all good. It's all good.
(10:03):
Oh anomous repeat? Is it your birthday? Happy birthday? Awesome, Awesome.
She's seen it tonight. They've seen it tonight too, so
it would be great. A lot of people have seen
Superman to night. I love that everybody's going on opening
night even though it's comes out tomorrow, but it's come
on to day. It's been it's been out to two
pm Eastern time, so it's been out. So but you
guys are gonna really enjoy it. So into the theater,
(10:23):
into the movie experience. Non I said, this is non spoiler.
This movie is I've been talking a lot about for
the past probably months. We've been talk about this movie
pretty ptty, pretty pretty frequently month two months that I
really hope they catch the spirit of the DC animated
universe for Superman, and they did. They did it. Uh.
(10:47):
This movie feels like a Justice League and limited episode,
and that's not a bad thing. It's a great thing.
It's litainly Superman and a couple other members of the
Justice League who aren't as strong or as I want
to say, popular as him, because we're dealing with Hawk Girl,
we're dealing with mis Terrific. We're dealing with Guy Garden,
Green Lantern, not John Stewart or how Jordan, but Guy Gardner.
(11:09):
So we're dealing with three other lower tier heroes but
still lower tier heroes. When if Superman and Batman are
as tier and one of them asked here Flash, Green Lantern,
Mushma on a tier, we're dealing with maybe B high
high B very very low A tier heroes when Green Lantern,
Hawk Girl, and Mister Terrific. So episode the movie really
(11:32):
thought that episode of Just League of Limited and I
love loved it for it. Another other bright spot before
we get in the spoilers is Crypto is everything you
asked for for this movie. He is great. He is
He's not as good a boy as you think he is,
but he's still a good boy. He's still a really
good boy in the movie that the interactions between all
the characters, it felt like when James James Gunn said
(11:55):
he wanted this to be a more of a lived
in universe of superheroes, he did it. This feels like
they've been around forever doing this, and it feels like
there's nothing new to see. Superman far through the sky
and stopping evildoers, so to speak. And nobody's surprised to
see a guy with with a magic ring to make
things about the ground. Nobody's surprised to see aliens. All
(12:17):
that kind of stuff, and all this stuff has been
happening for a long time, and and it feels like
I lived in world. David Kornswet as Superman, I feel
like he gets better as the movie goes on. I
wasn't sure about him when he was cast it, but
I went in with an open mind because who am
I'm not a casting director, who I don't know what
they see when they do the screen tests. But when
(12:38):
the movie starts, he's he's in one point, and then
the movie ends, he's at another point, and you can
see him kind of grow into being Superman, not in
the universe, but in front of us, because it's the
first time scene in Superman. Great job. David korns Wet
now is Superman. Rachal Bronzahn as Pisa in the chat,
(12:59):
they actually watched Man of Steel last night. I don't
know which one I like more yet, because Man of
Steel such a different story than what this movie told.
I know you've seen a lot of articles that that
the they was gonna saying that Superman's true immigrant story
and certain people of certain political followings calling woke whatever
(13:23):
like that. But Man of Steel was just an immigrant
emmigant story as as this one is. Man of Steel
was really more about like a guy just trying to
get by on by on the fringes of life and
not living up to his purpose. It's the whole thing.
So Man is Steel told a different Superman a different
way than this one does. I still think Man of
(13:45):
Steel is a really cool Superman movie. I don't care
what people think. I think I loved it. But two
very different movies, though, two very very different movies. Rachel
Brozihan as Loess Lane is probably the best Lowest Lane
since Marco Kinner. No disrespect to Kate Bo's Earth and
Amy Adams great job. But this is this is the newer,
This is new low was Lane. She was really really good.
(14:08):
Jimmy Olsen steals the movie a little bit. Mister Terrific
steals a movie a little bit. Trying to think of
what else, uh, misches terrific from mis terrific. I want
to say, it's like the end of the second act
throughout the third act becomes like, oh my gosh, I
don't even remember Echo Keelum from Green or anymore. This
is this is mis terrific. Now this this this, this
(14:29):
is mister terrific. He it takes a term with him
where he just becomes totally in control of the screen.
It's it's it's amazing to see what I actually did
with that role. He was terrific. Honestly, Green Lantern again,
going back to Green Lantern, you don't get as sick
of him as you think you would, uh in a trailer.
He's actually more like a comic relief button that you
(14:51):
can just keep pressing, not kind of like drags in
the First Guardians. But she's not a start of the movie.
You don't see him for as long, and I think
that helps him because he's he's he's he's a hilarious
in this movie Hawk Girl, and then again, going to
my DC Animated Universe comparison, if you watch Justice League,
you know whenever Hawk Girl came on screaming with the mace,
(15:13):
she screached ha and hit somebody. She does this in
the movie and I love every minute of it. I
don't think a lot of people caught that because they
don't watch They probably don't watch Justice League and Limited
Justice League as much as I do. I watched it
probably on a monthly basis, like go through like ten episodes,
rip through them, and she felt like Hawgirl. It was awesome.
I don't think she's shared a Hall. I think she's
another Hawk Girl. I I can't remember the name. Actually,
(15:35):
he's I can pull it up real quick because I
have the cast listing rotch here. I don't think she's
shying a Hall. This Hawk Girl is Lucie Lex, Luthor,
mis Terrific, Metamori fro Green Lantern, Cantra Saunders is this
Hawk Girls is not Shire Hall. Shire Hall is the
one in uh Justice League Unlimited. And by the way,
Ed Gathacky is the one who's playing mister Terrific. If
(15:57):
you're not Eaty Gathaky, I'm sorry if you're not prefraid
of that name. He's I played the uh. I hate
to say it like this, the guy that couldn't die
X first class and then does die. It's just stupid. Yeah,
and he put it in the tread. Hawk Girl does
not believe in a snak attack. She doesn't. She doesn't
just just attack exactly not uh. One more character I
want to go over is Anthony Karakon is Metamori for
(16:19):
its heartbreaking in this movie heartbreaking, but then also wins
you over, like in the split seconds, really really good
and it's funny the makeup they put on him. I
forgot that it was Anthony Kerrikin because I watched him
in Barry like all every every week basically, and I
forgot that it was Anthony Kerrickon. They didn't even recognize him.
The one short change I want to say in this
cast is probably probably Wendell Pierce's Pry and Perie White.
(16:43):
He doesn't really do much. He has a more of
an extended scene at the end of it where he's
kind of he's kind of doing a lot more. But
the first I want to say, the first three quarters
of this movie, he's kind of just there in the
background and he's jokes if you're familiar with the Superman
series in the seventies, but if you're not, if you're
(17:04):
not familiar, that you're gonna go over your head. But
other than that, everybody in this movie did a great,
great job. Now, the one thing I was afraid of
and I told you guys, there is probably two weeks
ago that I'm gonna hate Nicholas Hold as Lex Luthor.
Not because I'm supposed to hate the bad guy. Like
in wrestling, you're supposed to hate the bad guy. You're
supposed to make you want to hate them. You're not
supposed to hate the person playing the bad guy. Supposed
(17:24):
to hate the bad guy. I don't like Nicholas Hold
as Lex Luthor, I think, and it's probably because again
the Justice League Animated Universe influence on me, because a
Lex Luthor was voiced on that show by Clancy Brown,
also voice Mister Crabs on SpongeBob, and he had such
(17:46):
a heavy voice and a physically imposing presence because we
watched the animation Styalty seen many Universe. All the men
on that show are big bronze men and they're all
six feet tall and you all have barrel chest at
six pack abs. And in this movie, when you see
Nicholas Hold stand across from Superman, you're like, pluck him
in the face. Why have taking this through this guy
(18:07):
and from him? Like he don't get me wrong, he
is a good villain in this movie. It's that I
didn't like Nicholas Holt's performance as Lex Luthor, mostly just
because of I didn't buy it, so to speak, I
didn't buy it. I didn't get super evil, megalomaniac, jealous villain.
(18:28):
I got rich boy who's mad because nobody's pay attention
to him. And that's the way I just interpreted it.
You're go in interpret it a different way. And like
I said, it did not hurt my enjoyment of this movie.
I still love this movie. I'm gonna see it again
as soon as I have some time to. But for me,
I just I would have rather they got someone else
to play Lex Luthor, who has that more physically imposing
(18:52):
build to at least look like even like if you
go back to BBS Henry Cavo and Ben Affleck. Even so,
of course, Superman can just body Batman anytime he wants to.
When they stood face to face, they looked like they
looked like they were equals. And it was the same
issue as BBS. To Jesse Eisenberg and Lex Luthor, he
sucked too, not a good Lex Luthor and most of
(19:14):
the products I have are similar. It's like it's really,
I hate to say, it's the sound of their voice.
It's not a traditional deep baritone voice that I'm used
to hearing coming out of Lex Luthor, and that's part
of the reason why I just didn't enjoy his performance
as much. But I will say, like I said, it
didn't hurt my experience of the movie too much because
everything around Nicholas Holt and the part I didn't like
(19:37):
sh shine so brightly that I didn't care as well, Well,
I don't like it, but I don't care. I'll keep
on keep on moving, kind of like me need vegetables.
I like vegetables, but I need them so down a
hatch you go, you know what I mean. It was
kind of like that. There's a moment actually at the
end of this movie where he gets his come upance,
and it was it kind of like, you know what,
you deserve that for being nerdy and whitey, you deserve that,
(19:58):
Lex Luthor. So yeah, all in all, non spoilery, I
love this movie. I don't know if it's my favorite
Superman in the movie. Maybe we'll do that in the
upcoming weeks. We'll rank call the Superman movies. I'm not
watching three and four though, Quest for Peace and the
One with the with the with the Nuclear Man that
they were stupid. They were so stupid. So maybe we'll
(20:19):
just go through the first two Superman Returns, Man of
Steel and this one. Maybe we'll see what happens. I
love this movie. I think right now, let's see here,
what is it trending on Rotten Tomatoes right now, because
it's been fluctuating, but it stayed pretty high. It debuted
at a ninety one that's what a debut at at
(20:40):
ninety one percent. One of the reviews are coming in
on both at a Tuesday afternoon. Right now, it stands
at an eighty two percent, which I think is way
too low. Now that doesn't mean the movie is eighty
two percent good. It was holding out an eighty five
for the past two days, but as the reviews keep
coming in, the average keeps going up and down. It's
weird when you go down and look at a lot
(21:01):
of the reviews around Tomatos. A lot of people from
Britain hates this movie. I don't know why. It was
really weird, Like for every let's say five good reviews
from America, they'd be like five good batter views from
people that see it saw it from them from the UK.
I don't know what. I don't know what the UK
hate Superman is all about. I don't know. Maybe because
they're just mad and they don't have a Superman. I
don't know whatever. But audience rated right now was in
(21:22):
ninety six, and apparently that is the highest rated DC
film ever now d c U, d CEU, d d
C field. So going back to Superman nineteen seventy seven
or seventy eight, wherever it was Batman eighty nine, all
of that, this is the highest rated fan reviewed movie
to go review movie ever, so ninety six percent. So
(21:44):
if I was going to give it a critical score,
I gave it. I gave it eight point five. The
other night went with Eric, so about eighty five percent,
Like it was like it was a couple a couple
of days ago. This is a really really good movie.
I don't think it's the best compic movie of all time.
That's probably still either End Game or Spider Man No
Way Home for me, just for me, those were one
(22:06):
of those two to one of the best. Then again,
I don't know that's that's the dark Knight. I'm not
gonn get a conversation if it's the best movie every time,
but this is the best Superman movie in a long time,
may be the best overall review Supermo overall receiver, I
want to say super Man movie in a long time
as well. And like I said, it's not the greatest.
(22:26):
It's not up there with End Games, not up there
with The Dark Knight maybe, but it's a really, really,
really good movie and it's just kind of like, honestly,
it's kind of like the Guardians films. The Guardians films
aren't the best common movies of all time, but they
just leave you with a smile on your face. And
this is the same one. The same way. You're gonna
go to this movie in a great mood and leave
in the greater mood, you know what I mean, You're
gonna leave in a really really good mood. So I
(22:48):
definitely recommend going to see this this weekend and just
being prepared for great levels of superhero joy to wash
over your wash over your face. So with that, I'm
gonna lose some live viewers because it's time to go
into the spoiler territory. So all right, right now, I
(23:10):
am scrolling down for my spoiler graphic. Spoiler graphic is up.
We are in spoiler territory, which if you search on
If you search spoiler Territory on iTunes, you'll find four
episodes of Me and Honey reviewing Predator scene by scene
while watching it. It's not as easy as it looks.
(23:32):
Make it look really easy on YouTube, but it's not.
It's a hard thing to do. But yeah, this old
podcast did spoiler territory. Look that up if you have
a bored one day and just listen to listen to
a struggle through a two hour movie. Yeah, but we
are in spoiler territory now. Now I'm not gonna go
beat by beat. It's because it's hard and I have
(23:54):
a light because also, be wary before you guys, go mute.
The The plot scription is on Wikipedia, so stay off
Wikipedia to see the movie. It's been on a since
I think yesterday evening, I think when it popped up,
So be careful on Wikipedia if you if you're looking
Wikipedia for this for any reason. But this movie actually
(24:14):
starts with the seam he saw on the trailer of
him crashing out in the Arctic, and basically the opening
crawl starts with I think it was three hundred years
ago the first mena humans appeared on Earth, starting on
an era of called gods and monsters. I think as goes,
thirty years ago, the planet Krypton blew up and Durel
(24:36):
and van El sent their infant son to Earth. Of course,
three years ago Superman came up, showed up, and became
one of the most powerful being powerful meta humans on
planet Earth. I know James Gunna has his own script
of many Humans, but he's not at I know he's
human emotionally, but he's Kryptonian. He's not a human, so
(25:00):
he's not a metal human. He's an alien superhero. But
I digress. Yea three years ago Superman showed up and
I'm again the most power mental human on the Earth.
Then I think it was just three weeks ago Superman
stopped a a war from Geenphing between between uh she
what was the name of the stupid the stupid countries?
(25:21):
Hold on there you can find the countries real quick
warring countries in Superman. Come on Ai, Come on Ai, Bararia, Bravia,
and I can't read that because Miss Martin's not good.
He stopped to have a war between Baravia and Jara Hanpur.
(25:44):
He did that three weeks ago and said three days
ago the hammer of Bravia, which we saw on the trailer,
showed up and said this three hours ago. Superman lost
his first battle, and that's how the movie starts him
crashing in the Arctic, him calling Crypto, and Crypto taking
him to the fortress Soltitude to get re energized and
sent back out to the battle. A lot of things
that are kind of shown to you through this whole thing.
(26:06):
We see the technology of the world. The Hammer of
Brabia has these like floating drones around him while he's
fighting Superman, and the reason is because Lex Luthor has
been studying Superman for the last three years on how
he fights, and he's basically giving information to the Hammer
of Bravia on how to fight Superman so he can win,
and he's doing that throughout the entire fight. So he
(26:27):
sees super Superman comes right across, he goes a J
and the AJ means to dodge up in uppercut and
stuff like that. So they going through this big old fight.
Superman eventually loses, unfortunately, and Hammer Bravia goes back to
where he was and Hamm of Brabia actually actually is
not the Hammer of Bravia. It's a whole like it's
a whole scheme of Alex Luthor trying to basically get
(26:49):
because trying to kill Superman because he's like with there,
that's kind of what he does. He tries to kill Superman.
After that, he also finds Clark's Fortraits of Solitude in
the Arctic and and lets his way in. When the
movie started, while they were healing Superman with the son
(27:09):
he's they're playing on repeat a message from his parents Laura, Laura,
Laurvin and Jorelle, and they're speaking to Kryptonian and they're
saying like, we love you some we sent you here
to save your life, but for some reason the message
is incomplete. Lex gets there and complete a message and
we'll figure out what he says in a minute. But
also while he's there, they kill robots. We've seen that
(27:31):
scene also in the trailers and kidnaps Krypto. Of course,
Scrypto doesn't really receive any hardcore damage in this movie.
So if you're not a fan of you know, animal violence,
violence against animals, I think you're okay in this one.
They kind of subdue him with like a basically a muzzle.
It's a muzzle that goes over his whole face, and
(27:51):
he's fine, he's fine. He didn't they don't punch him,
they don't kick him, they don't you know, try to
shoot him anything like that. He's just like, ah, I
can't get off my face and they kidnap him. So no,
no real violences animals in this movie. So I think
actually at one point in the movie, Superman saves a squirrel.
So no real violence at all against animals in this movie.
Let's see here, trying to go through this plot real quick,
(28:12):
a little bit through all this because Superman stopped the
fight in in Bravia. Now the government is like, what
should he have done that? Because you know it's bigger
than that, But the whole movie is saying, he did
that because it's the right thing to do, and we
should all do the right thing because it's the right
thing to do. Is kind of like the driving theme
(28:32):
behind this movie is just do the right thing. So
but let me go to that scene where Superman gets
interviewed by the Lowest and they have that scene of
you know, them going behind it having the interview scene,
and I also revealed that they've been dating for like
three months. I want to say, let me look at
this real quick. And this says in here do Superman.
(28:57):
I don't see if they say in this description if
they say how long she's been dating uh Lewis, But
they've been there her sometime. He's not over there to
the anniversary and they get into a big fight and
because of that interview, and he leaves and that's when
Lex sets out the monster that we see in the trailer.
(29:18):
But since that was like a little Pokemon, and after
I guess to each trackh she goes to that big
one and that's when, like I said, Lex breaks into
the fortress to steal all the information. And while he's
in there still the information and it completes the video.
They find out that the reason why this is kind
of a switch, kind of a switch, but we kind
of saw this in Smallville as well. The reason why
Dourell sent him to Earth was to conquer basically and
(29:40):
continue the h the Cortonian races there. We kind of
saw that in Smallville, but it was explained that it
wasn't jierel It was a jourel Ai that said that.
So maybe we'll get more explanation on that going forward
in the Inevitable Superman sequel. That we'll see in three
or four years probably U and that's what turned the
(30:01):
whole work, turns whole world against Superman. That's when we
see the scene of him getting the can on at
his head. That's when we see the scene of people
yelling at him and stuff like that. And this is also,
like I said, this is the scene where right after
he fights the Big Thing with the help of the
Justice League, that's that's when Justice League shows up with
Green Arrow, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, Hawk Girl and it's terrific.
(30:27):
And when Superman finds out this information, he's kind of
shaking to his core a little bit, so he needs
a minute, and that's when Justice's League can confront him
like dude, I didn't know, and they believe him because again,
this is an established universe, so they've already known about
Superman for a while. Basically they kind of work, they
work alongside him, and they don't work alongside him kind
(30:48):
of thing. So after that they Superman turned himself into
the government because of the whole Barrabia stuff, and that's
when we find out that Lex has figured out how
to manipulate time space and he has a jail and
like a man a mini pocket dimension. They call it
a pocket dimension in the show a lot. So he
(31:10):
puts Lex Luthor, and he puts Superman in a jail
in a pocket dimension, and that's where he also finds
where that's where he took Crypto. This is like right
after the scene when he confronts Lex Luthor in his
office and they put Superman in this cell and Menamorial
is enable to sell and Metamorpiro creates Chrypto. Kniko Carer
(31:32):
in the element creates Kryptonite and then pretty much sits
there to let let Superman writhe in pain. And the
whole reason he does this is because Lex Luthor has
Metamorpho Son held hostage in the cell right across from Superman.
And this is why I say, like your heart breaks
the Metamorphica. He doesn't want to do it, but he
has no choice to me because the sun is right there.
So during all this, this is when Lois becomes a
(31:53):
Vescuit's reporter again and she tries to figure out why
Lex Luthor is dead set on topic Superman from from
getting involved in Bravia. We find out because Lex is
trying to get the land of Bravia, is trying to
take over to do whatever he wants to do with it.
And it's a whole you know, money woman scanning skills.
He's getting brevia a millions of dollars of weapons also,
(32:13):
and this is a This goes back to all the
controversy about this. I guess it's it controversy or it's
just made up top point. It's probably made up top
points about this movie. That is super woke. The uh
the President of Bravia and if you follow politics any anyway,
is one percent on purpose a knockoff Benjamin the Yahoo.
(32:35):
I think it's hilarious. This is all I wanted to say.
It's one hundred percent. Yeah. They are mimicking the whole
Israel Palestine conflict, and it's a lot. It's a lot,
but it's done in a way where it's done in
it again like justin Get Justice League Man and in
a series who mimic conflict in that? I mean that
(32:55):
that that that series had a whole thing about World
War two and Hitler. They mimicked the real world in
a way that's so comic booky that you can see
the parallels, but you don't take it as seriously as
you would if it was an actual war war movie,
so to speak. So she finds that out and with
the help of its Terrific, she tries to break into
the Pocket Dimension to break out Superman basically, and it's
(33:17):
what I'm talking about. The scene with mister Terrific when
he helps her breakout. There's a scene similar I want
to say, it's similar to YANDU and Guardians one with
the with the arrow and rocket and Guardians two with
the the gravity machine that he was using, where he
(33:38):
just goes he goes ham to a to a musical
score and it's like, mis Terrific is that, dude? And
it's really really really really really cool. Uh. So they
break into the Pocket Dimension and Superman convinces Metamorpho to
chill with the Kryptonite poison Krypto Nite poisoning mimic A
mimic a sudden a sunlight element to heal him, and
(34:03):
he goes to Safe to the Sun, which is really cool.
But once he does that, of course it's a princess
on alarms go off. So there's a whole escape scene
with Metamorpho, Metamorpho's baby, and Superman and they eventually get
out thankfully, And that's what that's that's kind of when
the third act of the movie begins, I'm skipping a lot,
but I'm trying to get to the point of this movie.
So they find out because of Lex Luthor's going back
(34:29):
and forth, back and forth, back and forth in these
pock dimensions, he actually is creating a hole in time space.
That's the other thing about this movie. It is exceedingly
exceedingly heavy in comic book science fiction, which I don't mind,
but if you don't know what comic science fiction is,
is basically kind of diarn Man suit. Why can't want
(34:51):
to make diarn Man suit? Because he's smart? But what's
the other reason? He's just smart and he made weapons
as a kid, so he can make Ironman suits. That's
kind of like the whole explanation. We've gotten a while
twenty to make Iron Man suits in the comics, in movies,
and it's it's just or like in the Dark Night
when Batman Darknight returned to me in a bad pod?
What is the bad pod? Is a helicopter? Is the
(35:12):
jet is a plane? I don't know, but it's a
bad pot. Badman has it, so he's cool. It's covered
book science fiction. It's stuff works because it works in
comic books. I love that kind of stuff because like, oh,
that's cool, you know what I mean. So that's why
I like it. If you were looking for explanations of
this how the science works, don't look for it. They're
not gonna give it to you. It's just come book
science fiction, and I love that kind of stuff. So
I find out he's ripping up a whole in time
space and Miss Terrific is trying to fix it, but
(35:35):
he can't fix it without Superman's help. Unfortunately Superman is
it's after this part he gets Crypto. He goes to
where is it here did you do? With the help
of Eve test Macher, who is kind of like a
who in the movie Eve Eve is with Lex but
she's cheaping non Lex with uh with Jimmy Olsen, where
(35:57):
I think it's great. I didn't see that coming, but
Jimmy owned it. It was pretty funny. So we get
to like basically the final showdown because as long as
as long as Superman has been in the the the
Pocket Dimension in Jail Brabia is mounting another another basically
run at at what is it called again? Jacks the
(36:18):
poor Jahann, poor hold on she had johannpur So he's
mounted another another attack on that, on that, on that,
on that, on that country, and Superman has to choose
on whether he wants to basically save the country or
basically save the world because mis Terrific can't he can't
(36:40):
shut down the the uh the Time Space Machine without
Superman's out basically, so thankfully they basically split up. The
Justice League goes goes over to Bravia and stop the
whole conflict, and Superman goes to help mis Terrific, and
a process of help mis Terrific, he go back into
he has to fight with ultra Man. What you say,
(37:00):
we see in the comics, I mean the comics in
the trailer, and it turns out that who who is Ultraman?
He's a clone of Superman and it's always a clone
of Superman who comes to Lex Luthor. So Superman basically,
I mean Lex got a strand of Clark's hair and
clone them. But unfortunately he's not one hundred percent that
I can think for himself. He has to be told
what to do. So basically, Let's calls him dumb basically,
(37:22):
and they have an all out fight and Superman finally
figures out the reason why he's a challenge to him
because Lex Luthor has given him, giving him instructions through
the drone machines to to h to fight him. Have
an issue with that, and I'll talk about it in
a second, but we'll get to the end of the
end of the end of the end of the end
of the review. So what Superman does is very smart
(37:45):
because during the whole scene where It's Terrific, it is
trying to save Crypto and Superman from the back of Dimension,
Crypto keeps attacking his Certerrific teach spears he could do,
it's won't stop. So when he's fighting Ultraman and those
little drum going around him, he wants to a little
Crypto and tells Krypto to get the toy, and Crypto
takes down all the drones and just becomes a one
(38:06):
on one fight between the Ultraman and Superman, and of
course Superman eventually wins, and they eventually get to the
point where they're gonna close the portal, and they close
the portal and it sucks Ultra Man into the portal
with him. Basically, there's also really a really cool thing
before this where the engineer who we saw one of
the salt hands basically trying to force her nano tech
(38:30):
all the way down Clark's colout of Superman's throat, and
Superman just takes off all the way into space because
he knows like they're strong, but I could arrive a
space and they can't. And it kind of gets up
to the atmosphere and it just dives bombs, dive bombs
to the ground. It was awesome. It was really, really
really cool. So aultra Man's taking care of and the
engineer's taking care of. Only person's really lexing it enough,
(38:51):
and that was Lex Luthor, And that's when he closed in.
He goes into Alexi's little ship where he's running everything
from and they have kind of a spar of words.
This scene is very Avengers, not in a bad way.
It's a good way. Avengers is at this point almost
fifteen years old. Is fifty I think it asked because
twenty twelve fIF fifteen years old. At this point you're
(39:12):
paying homage to a classic where like Luthor goes over
why he hates Superman so much, and this is why
I was like, he's kind of whiny. I don't like
it too much, and the Superman tells him, you know,
I'm as human as you are, Alex. I grew up here,
my parents are here, and I'm just trying to be
the best I can. And then when when Lex comes
(39:33):
to come back, what Clark what a Superman said? Cryptos
had enough and just a tax the crab by the
Lex Luthor and it's a very, like I said, it's
very advengerous scene because this is right out of Avengers
when Loki got hammered to the ground by the Hawk.
Because throughout this movie, Superman keeps saying, look, he's he's
(39:54):
not even that good of a dog. I can't control
him as much as I think I can, but he's
still my dog. So I'm while watching him for somebody
just please give him back. And it takes what feels
like probably five minutes, probably on like forty five seconds,
takes him forever to get Crypto off of Lex, and
by the time he gets off gets him off Loist,
Lane releases all the information on what Lex has been
(40:14):
doing doing the double deals under the table, and Lex
is arrested and sent to prison, and then that's when
that's quite At the end of the movie, we see
kind of Superman take off and do the Superman you know,
flying thing. Because he saves to day, we see him
go back into the fortress and means in the fortress
(40:34):
this time, instead of watching videos of his of his
Kryptonian parents to soothe him, he's watching videos of his
actual parents home videos. And it's very warming. I meant
to say that earlier. Clark's mom podcast in this movie
are adorable. It'll make you want to leave this movie
and go hook your parents. Honestly, they're so adorable. I
(40:56):
love man make you want maybe treble little things. You know,
I have dad issues. Uh so maybe ta have a
little bit the same with Clark and his dad. And
while he's sitting there getting this getting this some treatment
in the Fortune Siltitude, he gets a visitor from none
other than Cara Zarel aka Supergirl, coming to get her
dog because she left her dog at Stylitude. Superman to
(41:18):
watch and we all know Supergirls coming out next year
based on the Women's and Women of Tomorrow Clark comic.
But all looks amazing. Supergirl. I think it's gonna be
a fun movie. I'm still curious see how he'll it'll
it'll be received because the comic book Layman, the comic purists,
no Supergirl is, but the comic book movie Layman is
(41:39):
gonna be like, I don't know if I like seeing
this from a super character, because I feel like they're
going to think Superman Supergirl is like super Superman. Supergirl
was not Supergirl was her own character. So the movie
ends with two end credit scenes. Both both aren't really
end credit scenes. The first one is Crypto and Superman
on the moon looking back at Earth, and the last
(42:00):
one is Superman watching this Terrific put back a building
and it's like slightly off, and Miss Terrific gets upset
that Superman would their criticize his building skills. And that's
about it. That is the movie a Superman. I left
a lot out. There's a lot of other subtleties to
go over. There's a lot of other cool character interactions
(42:22):
to go over, a lot of other cool eyster eggs.
But this movie is a fun time in the theater. Now.
I did say that it's one thing kind of bugged
me about the movie. I told you that when he's
fighting the Hammer of Arabia, which later to be real
as Ultraman, he's fighting him with certain drones that are
given the Ham of Arabia commands basically on how to
attack Superman. Now, Lex Luthor is delivering these commands through
(42:46):
a microphone at one point in the movie, and I'm
just like, if he's been doing this the whole time,
why can Superman in Superhero hear that? But that's either
here or there. Maybe I missed something and they were
given to him digitally, like maybe he had a mask on,
so maybe be eight J pops upon it on his
mask and that's what he does. I don't know, But
at one point Superman, unless we was just talking to
him and saying the commands, I'm just like, shouldn't you
(43:08):
hear that and just kind of break the things? But
it's whatever. It's whatever, And going forward from this movie,
it's sad to think that we won't probably see this character.
We may see him again and Supergirl for some reason,
just for another quick cameo, but we probably won't see
this character on the screen again for a while. Because
(43:29):
I believe the next three slid two set of film
three set of films will be Supergirl, Batman, I raven
A Bola and that's say the title of that movie
and also clay Face, we won't see the recording that
Superman for a little while, which is kind of sad.
And then also I I'm like ninety five eighty to
(43:50):
nine eighty to eighty five percent sure that the scene
when Ultraman gets sucked into that portal dimension, eventually, that's
gonna be Bizarro. You're not familiar with, but Zorro, he's
often the Superman and to the to the f degree,
like bad is good, up and down, everything is opposite
to Bizaro basically, and I think that's what he's gonna
end up being. But I can't wait to see how
(44:12):
the rest of the DC Animated Universe, no stary DC
Universe shows up in this movie, how they're treated, because
this was the absolute delight of a movie to see. Actually,
I can't wait to find time to see it again.
My family wants to go see dress Park this weekend.
I'm like, can y'all go see it? I canna see Superman.
Like it's about the same run time, so we got
out of the around the same time whatever, But it's
(44:34):
definitely a great time in the movie theater. I think
you spoiler warning down. I think I'm done with spoilers.
For now, it's gonna be a fun and time in
the movie. You laugh, you may tear up a little
bit at some certain scenes. And one of the things
that's really cool about this movie is James Gunn said,
this Superman won't be overly powerful. Superman kind of gets
(44:54):
the crap bey him out of him in this movie.
But when it's time to be Superman and the strongest
person on the planet, he is, and it's it's very,
very rewarding to see all that. So I hope you
guys have a great time in this movie. I hope
you guys have as much of a great a time
with it as I did. But for now, I'm actually
gonna go and look for some tickets to go see
it this weekend because I did everyone. I will go tonight,
