Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello, friend, Welcome to the Thought Shower. Intern John is
my name. This is a Thought Shower exclusive. One thing
I've always done, if you are new to the podcast
is if I have news to break about events or
I think with myself, I've always tried to break it
here because I appreciate you listening. I appreciate you spending
(00:26):
the time, you know, and I'm very excited about this.
You know, I started doing comedy about nine years ago,
raising money for the Fisher House Foundation to help out
a friend who was in need of it, who was
staying at the Fisher House. And I learned what they
do with military and so I was like, oh, we
should do Sam comedy to raise money. Had never done
(00:48):
Sam comedy before. And you know, last year we hit
one hundred thousand dollars raised, and at that point to me,
the thought was it's probably time to hang up the microphone.
In that sense. With comedy, my thought was, you know,
I've done everything I can do with comedy, everything I
wanted to do with comedy. You know, last year, by
(01:11):
the time last year ended, we had played the Warner
Theater twice, we had played a baseball stadium, we had
travel over the country, and then a number one album.
So this kind of seemed like we hit one hundred k.
We did all of that, and I had said to
everybody in my circle, like, I'm done with comedy for
a while, only because it's very draining. Touring is draining,
(01:33):
planning is draining. I also wanted to give other people
on the show a chance to do their own thing.
Flash forward to New Year's and my Chew he died.
Yeah he was, he was fifteen, He's gonna be sixteen
on Valentine and say, and when he passed, you know,
(01:53):
that certainly changed everything for me. You know, fifteen years
basic call, sixteen years with him, we were attached to
the hip, and it took me a while. Tom still,
if I'm being completely honest, still not over it. But
I knew I wanted to do something to honor him.
(02:17):
And I knew that with as popular as he was,
and I mean, you know, hundreds of thousands of messages,
I wanted to do something. I knew he could be
used for good. Still, if that makes sense. I knew
that he didn't have to die for nothing, and so
I did a week into shows in Arlington, the Chewy
Forever shows, raising money for the Warrior Canine Connection, and
(02:39):
they are an amazing group right here in their in
Moco and what they do is they raised dogs to
be service animals for veterans, and once I found out
about them, that was kind of the goal was to
raise money. And we recorded the shows and my thought was,
in case I really like them, I wanted to put
out an album. And the week in the show is
(03:03):
those Chewy shows were about the most perfect thing we've done.
You know. I think even Sausa like we should do
a bunch more of these because it went so well.
And I'm happy to say that the album Chewy Forever
is coming out in September, which we are currently in
(03:24):
September twenty fifth. You can get the album now. The
cool thing is you can pre order the album right
now if you go to Internjohncomedy dot com on iTunes.
So Internjohncomedy dot com. I should bring you to iTunes
rather and the album six bucks. If the link isn't working,
because sometimes it's a little bit tricky. This open up
iTunes search intern John. You can pre order the album
(03:46):
right there. Again, the money is all going to the
Warrior Canine Connection to help us raise money. So the
veterans can have service dogs in this group, you know,
they train the dogs to be specific for the ailment
of the person. If they are missing their right arm,
the dog is trained to walk on the other side.
It's a very special group. And for me, you know,
(04:07):
it was hard to put in words. I guess I
don't know it was Was it therapeutic maybe perhaps? I
don't know. I think that I think that people felt
sorry for me, certainly, but I think that these shows
(04:28):
really kind of helped people see just how close we were,
you know, because the situation with Chewy is it'll never
happen again with another dog like that says circumstances where
you know, sixteen years, it was basically just me and
him for those sixteen years. Not sure was I in
(04:49):
relationships during that time, absolutely, But even so, I've never
lived with a girlfriend, you know, so to have that
and to move to new places and to travel with
each other, you know, asally cross the country and then
had that gone one day was a shock. Was traumatic,
was all those things. And so the point of this
(05:10):
album is to for one, honor Chewie, because I wouldn't
be without him. And the other point is if somebody
else is going through a similar thing with pet loss.
It's tough. It's one of the worst things. I said
that from Jump. It's it's it's the absolute worst thing possible.
(05:31):
But we would chance to a lot good and it
would be I don't even know what the word is
is somehow this album went number one. I don't even
know that that would just be be so cool, it'd
be so special. It makes me feel like I did
(05:53):
my duty. I guess to him, So it is funny.
I promise you that it's not all sad. It's a
funny album. Again. I think it's probably the best stuff
I've written. Even listening back to him, I was editing
the whole thing. You know, it's tough to listen back to.
It's tough, and I was listening back to it. I
was like, I don't even know how I got through
(06:15):
some of this. But also it's really funny, Like it's
really really good. Spend a lot of time on it, certainly,
And I really think if you didn't get a chance
to the shows, you're gonna love it. It's gonna be
your most favorite thing I've ever done. I can promise
you that the pre sale again starts right now. So
the album is six dollars. That's the minimum it can
(06:35):
be on the website so Internshioncomedy dot com or if
that's not working, open up iTunes search intern John. You
can pre order rate there and the pre orders are
important that helps push the whole thing again. The goal
is to raise as much money for the Warrior Canine
Connection as possible and then hopefully I can get my
boy number one and that would just be very cool.
(06:57):
So I hope you have a great Monday. If you
get a chance to order, please please tag me too
