(00:00):
Happy Wednesday, friends, Welcome tothe Thought Shower. Intern John is my
name, knock eall. I havinga hard time sitting down today, the
leg day yesterday, and not great, not great overall, getting that age
where you think to yourself, isthis gonna be the lift that I get?
(00:21):
Seriously hurt? You know what Imean? Will this be the one?
And I haven't had a chance tolike I've gone the last two days.
Haven't had a chance to get inthe rhythm now that school's out and
it's been hot because the one Iusually go to is so packed even at
like ten thirty, it's not evenworth it. You ever drive somewhere,
(00:43):
you see the parking lot and yougo, nah, nah, no thanks.
Yeah, thats been me the lastcouple of weeks. But yesterday worked
out. Listener Marie said hi,which is very nice. So appreciate you
saying hi wherever you see us.Always a pleasure. However, today can't
sit down, can't get up,walking, doesn't feel well, you know,
(01:07):
just old person things getting out therea little bit. Although my birthday
is less than two months away, who's counting? It was funny, Sauce
asked me yesterday. She's like, what are you doing for your birthday?
I'm like, I have no ideabecause I think this year it's on a
hold for applause. You get theidea. It's on Tuesday. So that's
(01:30):
like there in lies the issue. It's on Tuesday. Do you celebrate that
weekend before or the weekend after?I would tend to say the weekend before.
I think that way kind of leadsin your birthday week That way,
you can go hard before your birthdayand then just kind of like relax during
your birthday, you know what Imean. So we had time to go
(01:53):
for that, and I you know, I'm weird of birthdays and that I
like being celebrated. Certainly, Ijust don't like getting gifts. But also
I don't want people to forget aboutme. It's a weird thing. So
like I anyway, I just wantice cream cake. That's only what it
comes down to. Like, itcomes down to what I want for my
(02:14):
birthday. Ice cream cake. Youcan't go wrong. You get the frosting,
you get the chocolate, get thevanilla, those chocolate crunchies in the
middle. Oh my gosh. EvenI feel like the the writing, the
icing writing that makes sense. Ifeel like that tastes good too. I
used to get hockey theme ones growingup as a kid, and that's always
(02:35):
been like my go to, liketo the point where my mom has had
ex girlfriends buying me ice cream caketo make sure I have one for my
birthday, which ah so sick. Now I'm excited for my birthday solely for
the ice cream cake. What elseis that going on this week? It's
hot as hell, so I haven'thad a chance to like take the dogs
up for like walk walks. Sawsome people doing yesterday it was like ninety
(02:58):
three. I got home something withtheir golden retriever. I'm like, I
don't think that's good for the dog. I think that's dangerous. Let alone.
They say the concrete can be wayhotter, so you can burn up
the paws our pass. It makesme think it'd be nice to have a
pool on like weeks like this,Except for everyone I know who has a
(03:19):
pool or has a hot tub,say it's the biggest pain in the butt
there is. There should be astat that you can look up of,
like if you have a hot tubor pool, how much time you spent
actually in hot tub slash pool andhow much time you spend on maintenance,
you know, I'd want to knowthat fact. If it was like even
(03:40):
close to being worth it, that'dbe dope. My parents when they moved
to Tennessee, they almost bought ahouse. They had a pool, but
it was like a really small pool, like really really small, So it
would have been cool, like tostand and drinking, but you really couldn't
do much else, which I guesslike kind of have the point, right.
I think I'd rather have a hottub than a pool. I think
(04:04):
my buddy's a hot tub, andthat he can also make a cold plunge,
which is sick. I would wanta cold plunge. I think that'd
be fun in the morning. Butanyway, as of right now, neither
gonna be an issue. Don't havethe money, don't have the space,
no issues whatsoever. Let's get tothis for your Wednesday man with the allergies,
(04:26):
dude, I still feel like I'mlosing my voice the tiny habits that
make you instantly more likable now.I try to be liked by everybody.
That's my goal, you know,But once I realize somebody doesn't like me,
I usually stop caring unless it's somethingI did. Unless unless it's like
something that can go Okay, Imess this up. Number one, You
(04:47):
remember and use people's names. Yeah, I am horrible at this, and
it's not an intentional thing. Ithink it's more so like I just have
so much add that forget. Also, I meet a lot of people.
My least favorite question to get askedis do you remember me? I hate
(05:09):
that question because it's always like ifI did, I would say something,
and now it's just gonna be awkward. They say that most of us have
forgotten somebody's name two seconds after theytold us, but taking the extra mental
note using their name in conversation showsyou pay attention and value them as individuals.
I mean it makes sense obviously,Like it makes sense where somebody can
(05:30):
go, oh, they actually remembermy name. I think of being ted
Lasso first time he remembers Nate's name. Nate's all surprised. It makes sense.
You offer genuine compliments, they say, everyone loves a good compliment.
Make sure yours are sincere. Noticelittle things like a new haircut or well
written report, even positive attitude.By acknowledging people's strengths, you boost confidence
(05:55):
and create a positive association with you. I think that's true. It makes
sense always the adage people remember howyou feel, how you make them feel
one hundred percent true, especially withsomething you notice. That's That's one of
my love languages I think is giftgiving. Now I tried these stuff where
it's obvious I'm paying attention, SoI think this makes sense. You actively
(06:16):
listen and engage in conversations. Yeah. I think we talked about this in
the show, where it's like ifyou're in a conversation or you're telling a
story and somebody asks you follow upquestions, it's a very flattering thing because
you think, oh my goodness, like they're paying attention. They're paying attention
to what I have to say.Speaking of which, what I have to
(06:36):
say. July twentieth, Arlington DraftHouse, August seventeenth, Ram said,
Live my intern, John's from ScratchComedy shows. We're doing a limited run
this year, very limited run. There's a low articul alert for the Arlington
shows. So July twentieth, Arlington'sDraft House, August seventeenth, Ram said,
(06:57):
Live myself, DMed, Kyle Kromer, Shelby Sauce. You can grab
tickets Internsjooncomedy dot Com very excited forthese shows. If you use humor to
lighten the mood, another good one. People can laugh a little bit,
people can joke, people can Iguess this, enjoy life around you.
(07:18):
That's a good sign. You expressgratitude and appreciation. They say, never
underestimate the power of a simple thankyou, whether it's for a small favor,
thoughtful gesture, or just someone's time. Expressing gratitude shows appreciation and encourages
a bit of good will. Doa couple more of these. The other
(07:38):
one's boring. You maintain a positiveand optimistic attitude. I think that's fun.
It makes sense because the people wantto be around you if you bring
the mood up right, if you'renot poop pooing on things, not the
deadbie downer. If people want tobe around you, you feed off your
energy, that's a good sign. You offer help and assistance without being asked.
(08:00):
Ooh that's huge. Yeah, you'rethere for somebody. I think that
kind of goes to like you alsopay attention, like you're offering to help
somebody without them being like, hey, I need help, Like you're there
right away. I think that's huge, huge, huge. You respect boundaries
in personal space. Yes, yes, it it could be physical, personal
(08:22):
space, emotional physical space. Yeah. I think boundaries are a thing that
when you don't respect them, it'skind of obvious to the other person,
like, hey, they really don'tcare about you, or they don't even
have your needs or your thoughts inmind. I think that's one hundred percent
true. You're genuinely happy when peopleachieve things. I've always said I get
(08:48):
happier my friends achieve stuff than whenI do. I think that's a must.
Yeah, because then it's like, what are you doing, dude,
Like, if you can't get happyfor your friends, are they even your
friends? You know? I gethappy my friends all the time. I
love seeing my friends do good things. I get more happy than I do
for me. It's one of thegreatest feelings ever. I hope you have
a great Wednesday, dude. Ireally do internship on comedy I Calumn,
(09:11):
